Thank U

So for some reason, this song clicked with me. It just finally did. It's BEAUTIFUL! Even though Ayu doesn't even sing a chorus, it's still so uplifting and ugh just beautiful. Anyone else feel this way towards the song?

kagami 9th July 2011 02:46 AM

Yes! It took me while to really love it but now it makes me feel so warm and happy <3
At first I thought her voice was pretty bad in it but on more listens it's not as bad as I thought. Not amazing but certainly not unlistenable. And I really like that the chorus is just la la la...makes it a bit different.

Kazeyomi 9th July 2011 04:17 AM

I loved Thank U since Ls was released.
There's something different from her usual cheer-up songs, like MY ALL. But ugh I cannot find right words for describes it ;_; and that's awful because I freaking love Thank U.

love in music 9th July 2011 05:09 AM

I love it so much. It's so uplifting and filled with so much happiness and the instrumental is breathtaking. A+ cute song.

CHE.R.RY 9th July 2011 05:57 AM

I'm sorry I just really can't stand this song I find it very yuck :no...It's sweet & all but just not my style.

Andrenekoi 9th July 2011 06:21 AM

I found it stupid at first... but after some time, I couldn't stop singing the LALALALALAAAAAAAAAAS xD

Yoake 9th July 2011 08:44 AM

I love it. For me this song is simple to sing & to play because she says us Thank U directly. I can't understand people who say they're fan & they don't like it. Because this song is for us. It's a nice present.

NintendoHTF1242 9th July 2011 04:14 PM

^ I can understand not liking it because it can get annoying. I mean, we shouldn't be forced to like something because she dedicated to us (omg I sound so morbid)

Like for untitled...I feel bad for not liking it because she dedicated to her friend who passed away. The lyrics are nice, the music is just so boring.

But Thank U just took some time to grow on me :laugh I despised the annoying Lalala's. But then those lalala's grew onto me like a foot fungus. Goodness I love Thank U.

koumori 9th July 2011 04:19 PM

It's not a bad song per se, but I dislike how her voice cracks so obviously near the end. It just shows how much she strained her voice near the last few 'la la la's' and distracts from the song itself.

This this this. I love the little orchestral bursts too, I never got why it got so much flak.

Beauty4123 9th July 2011 06:33 PM

i can't remember if i loved it the first time i heard Love songs, lol. but i can say that now i love it, too! just the whole feel of the song makes me happy & i love listening to it! :)

ayumisrael 9th July 2011 06:36 PM

Yes it is very uplifting at times.

I used to hate these tracks but all of these pop audience songs (like Thank U/MY ALL) started to really up-lift me and I don't hate them anymore lol, I love them!

Midori-chan 9th July 2011 07:23 PM

It's my least favourite song on "Love songs", but I still think it's quite nice.
Just the many "lalalalalalas" annoy me! I think without them the song would have been a lot nicer!

Eewyi 9th July 2011 07:45 PM

It's my favorite song from Love songs! Really uplifting, and I think this is the type of song I'll always like~
Love it <3

PoetGirl 9th July 2011 09:45 PM

song is really sweet, cute and I loved it since the first time I heard it. I love all her songs for fans, and MY ALL and RED LINE etc

Bubbly 9th July 2011 10:20 PM

It grew on me! At first I disliked it, but after some time I felt like giving it another time and now I really like it :)

truehappiness 9th July 2011 10:44 PM

Amazing song. It's so uplifting and cheerful!

jbrat2219 9th July 2011 10:54 PM

The gorgeous arrangement is what saves it to be honest. But none-the-less it is indeed a guilty pleasure of mine. :D

susiowong 10th July 2011 06:36 AM

At first I hated it but it grew on me. It's still not my favorite (it's in the middle if I had to list the songs from favorite to least favorite), but much better than Sweet Season and November.

freedreamer 10th July 2011 06:54 AM

The music is really good to me. I love all the orchestral parts. :)

Benikari47 10th July 2011 12:33 PM

I loved Thank U from day one, it's not my favorite song on the album and i don't play it that often, but i absolutely love it.. especially when driving home from school :heart

noisy_harmony 10th July 2011 04:35 PM

Most gorgeous non-single song and most refreshing song overall on Love songs. I loved and was defending it since the very first listen. Excellent arrangement.

love in music 10th July 2011 05:06 PM

I'm happy to see all the love for Thank U in this thread! I always loved it too. The only time I didn't like it was when we got the LQ cellphone ringtone recordings before the full thing came out.. but that happens with most of her songs.

OT but Benikari47 I need to comment on your current Namie set - it's absolutely stunning! Every time I see you post I can just stare at it for like 5minutes lol.

Aww, comments like this make me so happy when they come out of nowhere! xD
Thank you so much, it's properly my favorite photoshoot of Namie this year (the one in my signature) <'3

Zeke. 10th July 2011 08:04 PM

I liked it when Love songs first came out - but it's so annoying now - and I LOVE cute songs. Her voice I just do not like at all. The arrangement is gorgeous but I can't really enjoy it. Maybe if it was an interlude it would have worked but definitely not as a full song. :no

Neko★munication 10th July 2011 09:36 PM

So glad to see some love for this one, I only ever see negative comments about Thank U :laugh

I love it. I really love how the chorus is, in a way, universal - she leaves out any words and just sings, and the way the chorus is patterned encourages everyone else to sing along, which everyone can do easily. Imo the concept behind it is really beautiful.

C+R+E+AYUMI 11th July 2011 07:15 AM

i love it, it makes me feel good, positive and cheerful.

AyumiAi 11th July 2011 08:06 AM

Always been a huge fan of thank you :) such a cute and nice song xp

Tony G 11th July 2011 08:38 AM

Its not horrible by any means, but it is the worst song on Love songs.

+1 :yes

oneheart 12th July 2011 12:56 AM

Not my favorite :/

BlackSilence 12th July 2011 02:03 AM

i really don't mind that song, the only thing that bothers me is her vibrato it's so distracting for me xD other than that it's quite nice and very light, kinda reminds me of Voyage, BLUE BIRD & Sunrise and those kind of fun songs :) HOWEVER, I can't listen it too often because it's really a sweet song and what's too much isn't healthy lol

Corvina 17th July 2011 12:16 PM

I agree, the arrangement is really good, though pretty "sweet", but I just totally dislike her vocals in it.
Also dislike that the main part of the lyrics are just lalalala, that's bland although it fits.
Those are the reasons I can't get through the whole song and it is the worst song on Love songs for me.

Kanzaki 17th July 2011 12:18 PM

Idk how and why really, but I just loved this song from the first moment that I heard it. The La~la~la part is my favorite, the melody actually nearly makes me cry. She may be just "lalala'ing", but the melody sounds so tender and kind of sad.

NintendoHTF1242 17th July 2011 12:21 PM

The instrumentation is so perfect. The arranger needs like, an award or something ;-;

This!

Sandy 17th July 2011 01:58 PM

In my opinion the song is plain boring. -.-
There's nothing new there and her voice is terrible. We already have MY ALL, Beautiful Day, Humming 7/4 and omg so many else, I'm done with these :P

Sorry if I'm being too negative, this song just hurts my ears >.<

relmy 17th July 2011 08:44 PM

Eeeh, it's just average. It's an average song in an average genre of Ayu works. It's not my favourite type of Ayu song. If I listen to the whole of Love Songs, I won't skip (most of the time), but I don't choose to listen to it.

Ranma Matsuri 17th July 2011 10:02 PM

It's one of those songs that sound pretty average and nothing special like "omg another one of these songs, really Ayu?" but then, it's like one day while you're listening to the album it catches you off guard and you realize how gorgeous the arrangement and instrumental actually is. It's beautiful. :heart

Yumsushi 19th July 2011 04:39 PM

I really love this song. It's really upbeat and cheerful but I find it hilarious how in my mind it easily flows into Glitter, Bluebird etc etc

NintendoHTF1242 26th January 2014 05:50 PM

3 years later and I'm still in love with it. How do you do it, Ayu? <3

Surreal17 26th January 2014 08:15 PM

Hmm..I like it better live than the studio version but I never had a problem with the song itself. I don't know..it's a bit annoying but it's a cute song.

Livey~ 26th January 2014 08:50 PM

Every time that I listen to Love Songs - and only while I listen to Love Songs - I tell myself that Thank U is my favorite song of the album.

It means that I love it, right? :laugh

tsumekaze_ 26th January 2014 11:22 PM

I hated it. I had imported the whole album EXCEPT for thank U. Those bells irritated me and the song looked like a chant for christmas. LOL.
Then when she sang it @ cdl 10-11 I came to appreciate it and with the time it grow on me. Now I love it! It's a classical!

waterballoon 27th January 2014 01:35 PM

always liked it when the album was released. something really nostalgic about it and it fits the album theme/cover/imagery imo. lovely adorable number

SEOHYUN 27th January 2014 02:55 PM

I hate that song with a burning passion. It managed to destroy the whole Love Songs album for me...

Earth_maiden 27th January 2014 03:03 PM

I always loved Thank U, it's one of her gems from Love Songs

Delirium-Zer0 30th January 2014 06:01 PM

I'm not a fan of this song's studio version... it's redundant with the "la la la"s, i'm not a fan of the shiny happy type songs she does (with a few notable exceptions) - I mean I became an ayu fan for her optimism in the face of darkness, not blindly screaming YAY the way she does in songs like this.

In concert, however, it makes my eyes well up it's so sweet, and the energy matches a live venue. Interesting how that happens.

Sandy 30th January 2014 09:46 PM

It's a nice song, but her voice is just so ugghh on the CD >.< I feel Ayu's throat hurting and it hurts me!

But when she sang it live in PoM'11 ... O.O Total eye-opener, I teared up seeing her face like that, shining with joy and gratitude. It was like I finally understood what Ayu felt like when writing that song and how much it means to her for all of us to hear it

SolarAngel 7th February 2014 01:30 AM

It's a nice fluffy ditty but works best live. Love the lyrics, find them haunting and whimsical.
