Theater Debut and Indies Era

In July 2005, renown producer Yasushi Akimoto held an audition for a new theater based idol girl group. Of the 7,924 girls that applied, 45 passed the first round of auditions, detailed screening of the application documents. Finally, only 24 girls were chosen to be in the group. In November, the selected girls went through an extensive one month training program.

On December 1st, the AKB48 Theater had its grand opening. On December 8, 2005, the group held its first public show in the theater with only 20 girls, later known as Team A. The team consisted of:
‪Itano Tomomi‬, ‪Kawasaki Nozomi‬, Kojima Haruna, Komatani Hitomi, Maeda Atsuko, Masuyama Kayano, Minegishi Minami, Nakanishi Rina, Narita Risa, Ohe Tomomi, Oshima Mai, ‪Sato Yukari‬, Takahashi Minami, Tojima Hana, Usami Yuki, Orii Ayumi, Hoshino Michiru, Urano Kazumi, Watanabe Shiho, and ‪Hirajima Natsumi‬

A second audition was soon announced, and was held in cooperation with Japanese telecom company NTT DoCoMo. It was the first audition ever where the applicants had to send in their audition video with their mobile phones.

In January 2006, three months before Team K was formed, Akimoto let Mariko Shinoda join the group as part of Team A without passing the second audition. Prior to joining the group, Shinoda was actually working as a waitress in a cafe in the same building and on the same floor as the the AKB48 theater.. She could not attend the first audition for the group because she was working at the cafe. Fans petitioned for Shinoda to be able to join the group. 19 of the 11,892 applicants who participated in the second audition were chosen to join AKB48, but in the end only 17 girls joined the group to become Team K in April 2006. They were:
Akimoto Sayaka, Umeda Ayaka, Oshima Yuko, Ohori Megumi, Oku Manami, Ono Erena, Kasai Tomomi, Kobayashi Kana, Sato Natsuki, Noro Kayo, Hayano Kaoru, Masuda Yuka, Matsubara Natsumi, Miyazawa Sae, Imai Yu, Uemura Ayako, and Takada Ayana.

On April 1, 2006, Team K started performing at the AKB48 theater.
AKB48 released its debut single Sakura no Hanabiratachi in February 2006, which made it to #10 on Oricon charts and sold 22,011 units in its first week - a surprisingly high rank for a group on an indies label.
In March of 2006, Usami Yuki of Team A became the first girl to graduate from the group.

On June 7 AKB48 released their second indies single, Skirt, Hirari, and performed on TV for the first time. Shortly after, on June 17th, Uemura Ayako of Team K graduates from the group.

Major Label Debut and DefSTAR Records Era

In August 2006 AKB48 signed a major label contract with DefSTAR Records, a part of Sony Music Entertainment. Their first single under DefSTAR Records, Aitakatta, was released on October 25, 2006 and reached #12 on the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart.

In October 2006, a third audition was announced, resulting in the arrival of 13 new members forming Team B in December 2006. The selected girls were:
Inoue Naru, Oota Aika, Kashiwagi Yuki, Katayama Haruka, Kikuchi Ayaka, Saotome Miki, Tanabe Miku, Nakagawa Haruka, Nakaya Sayaka, Noguchi Reina, Matsuoka Yuki, Yonezawa Rumi, and Watanabe Mayu
On November 3rd & 4th, 2006, AKB48 performed their first concert AKB48 First Concert "Aitakatta ~Hashira wa Nai ze!~ at Nippon Seinenkan in Sendagaya, Shinjuku.

In December 2006, the first change was made to the three teams, transferring Kazumi Urano, Shiho Watanabe, and Natsumi Hirajima from Team A to Team B as supporting members. Orii Ayumi graduated from the group shortly after this.

On January 31st, 2007, AKB48's fourth single (second under DefSTAR Records) Seifuku ga Jama wo Suru was released; reaching #7 on Oricon charts. There has been speculation that the PV and lyrics to this song are an allusion to enjo kosai - voluntary underage prostitution - though this has not been confirmed. Their next single, Keibetsu Shiteita Aijou, featured a theme of bullying and suicide throughout the lyrics and PV. To promote the singles, AKB48 went on their second concert tour, AKB48 Haru no Chotto dake Zenkoku Tour ~Madamada daze AKB48!~ which began on March 10, 2007.
In June 2007, members Imai Yu, Hoshino Michiru and Takada Ayana graduated at roughly the same time. The group's fifth single BINGO!, was released on July 18th, 2007.

On New Years Day 2008, AKB48 released their first studio album, Set List: Greatest Songs 2006–2007. The compilation album included all of the group's singles up until their sixth, Yuuhi wo Miteiru ka?. Team K member Ohori Megumi (now in SDN48) became the first member to have a solo cover on one of AKB48's CD releases. She appeared exclusively on the cover of the Limited Edition of the album. The album managed to reach #3 on the Oricon Weekly Album charts.

In February 2008, AKB48 re-released their first indies single, changing the title to Sakura no Hanabiratachi 2008. This would turn out to be their last release under the DefSTAR Records label. A spring concert was initially announced. Fans who bought a copy of Sakura no Hanabiratachi 2008 at the theater would be given a random poster featuring one of the girls. If a fan collected all 44 types of the posters, they would be entered in a lottery to win tickets for their spring concert. The concert was later canceled because this violated a Japanese anti-monopoly law.

In October and November of 2007, Team A members Watanabe Shiho and Masuyama Kayano graduated.

On December 31, 2007, 43 members of AKB48 appeared on the 58th Annual Kohaku Uta Gassen, the prestigous end of the year music special. They performed with idols Leah Dizon and Shoko Nakagawa.
In August 2008, Team B member Kikuchi Ayaka was fired after pictures of her with a boy surfaced. Fans requested a second chance for her. In the end, she had to audition again and was readmitted as a Research Student.

KING RECORDS

On October 2008, the group signed with KING RECORDS under the You, Be Cool! sublabel, and released their 10th single titled Oogoe Diamond featuring Matsui Jurina of the just newly formed SKE48 on the CD cover. In that same month, at the final performance of A4 Revival, original members Ohe Tomomi, Komatani Hitomi, Tojima Hana, Nakanishi Rina and Narita Risa announced their graduation simultaneously. Their graduation took place at AKB48's NHK Shuffle Concert on November 23, 2008.

From August 22-23, 2009, AKB48 and SKE48 performed a concert at the famous Japanese stadium, the Nippon Budokan. At the end of the concert a new formation of AKB48 was announced, shuffling members from all teams. Each team was also assigned a captain; Takahashi Minami was to lead Team A, Akimoto Sayaka was to lead Team K, and Kashiwagi Yuki would become the leader of Team B. 4 of the group's oldest members, Ohori Megumi, Noro Kayo, Urano Kazumi, and Sato Yukari were transferred into the newly announced mature group named SDN48 (Saturday Night 48).

In October 21, 2009, AKB48 released the single RIVER which became the first AKB48 single to reach #1 on the Oricon Weekly Singles chart. It became the second best selling female single of 2009.

In December 31, 2009, AKB48 performed RIVER-Surprise special remix at the 60th NHK Kouhaku uta gassen. 72 members (all AKB48, the Kenkyusei, and 3 SKE48 members)) were in the performance.

"Majisuka Gakuen" (Majisuka Academy), a drama featuring several members of AKB48, SKE48 and SDN48 started airing from January 8th, 2010 on TV Tokyo.

On March 3, 2010, a full 5 months after they announced that all the teams were to be reshuffled, the first new formation of AKB48's Team K premiered with their new stage titled "RESET."

On August 2010, AKB48 expanded their official shops outside of Japan (namely Asia region) with it being in Hong Kong. They then expanded their locations with it being: Taiwan (April 2011), Singapore (May 2011) and Shanghai (July 2011).

On December 8, 2010, AKB48 celebrated its 5th anniversary in the theater with a special performance by all members, as well as returning graduates. All 9th generation kenkyuusei were also promoted.
In March 2011, it was announced on their blog they have temporarily closed the AKB Theater due to the 2011 Sendai earthquake and tsunami. Many upcoming activities were also postponed, including their concerts at Yokohama Arena from March 25th to the 27th, and the release of their first studio album, Koko ni Ita Koto.

On June 6, 2011, AKB48 made public announcement during this evening’s Himawari H1 Revival Stage the formation of a brand new AKB48 team, bluntly titled Team 4. The Team will consists of the 10 previously promoted kenkyuusei.

On June 11th, 2011, It was announced at a handshake event that Eguchi Aimi, a girl who auditioned for NMB48, would be joining AKB48 as a trainee, she appeared immediately in Playboy Weekly and in advertisements. Producer Akimoto Yasushi stated that she will be “the heroine of the new age”. Eguchi was immediately met with skepticism from many fans and soon Team K member Kikuchi Ayaka leaked on her blog that Eguchi was made of parts of other members through photoshop. On June 20th, Weekly Playboy published an article about Eguchi, stating that she was made up of parts of Takahashi Minami, Maeda Atsuko, Watanabe Mayu, Shinoda Mariko, Itano Tomomi, Oshima Yuko and 12th generation Kenkyuusei Sasaki Yukari.

On July 3rd, AKB48 announced and confirmed that they will be having their ‘24th Single Senbatsu Janken (Rock, Paper, Scissors) Tournament‘ in September. This will be the second year in a row that they will be choosing their ’senbatsu’ members for their new single, which is due to be released in December. The event will take place on September 20th at the Nippon Bukoukan.

Yay new thread. :)

So NMB got number 1 on the Oricon singles chart.

Edit: That graphic wasn't on the first post when I posted. Did you make that? Nice job.

NintendoHTF1242 27th July 2011 11:54 AM

So I've been wanting to get a bit more into AKB48.

How many subunits are there? (I know there are groups like 'Not yet', 'no3b', etc.)

And do you guys recommend their latest album? I only have that "Godly Songs" release.

dreamland2.0 27th July 2011 03:44 PM

aww cute banner!

^the active subunits at this time are
no3b
Watarirouka Hashiritai
French Kiss
Not Yet
DiVA
Tomomi Itano
Maeda Atsuko

I liked Koko ni Ita Koto, but I know many people didn't. It's worth a listen though!

Polyrhythm 27th July 2011 06:13 PM

I like the new album. I understand where it can get super annoying, but the songs are all pretty nice. If I had a complaint, it'd be the Acchan and Tomochin duet. Just make sure you get the limited edition with the photobook. The photobook is worth the extra money.

OogoeDiamond 27th July 2011 07:13 PM

question xD

I found two versions of Mariko story

One says that she was on audition but she failed it

and second says that she cant make it to audition cause she was working in Cafe on Audition time

which one is true?

dreamland2.0 27th July 2011 07:39 PM

She was working at the cafe and couldn't make it to the audition so the cafe customers made a petition to get her in and gave it to Aki-P. She joined before A2.

Oh I wasn't planning on buying it :] Just wanted to download it so I can get into AKB48 a bit more. Because Sakura no Shiori is my jam omg.

I don't, to be entirely honest. It isn't bad at all, but their singles and b-sides are so much better than anything on that album. I only REALLY like the song with Acchan and Tomochin; the rest are pretty throwaway. I'd recommend listening to Kamikyokutachi more and possibly downloading SET LIST, which has some really great songs (and a few crappy ones).

OogoeDiamond 28th July 2011 10:53 PM

I really consider changing my nickname to OogoeDiamond

PoetGirl 28th July 2011 11:01 PM

just when I wanted to check AKB48 out (its really confusing I gotta say, which team what, leader what, difference between stage and studio, I dont get anything lol) this SKE48 appeared, are they like copy of this band or... another team? or I dont get it lol.

I think Im goin' to check last singles first.

OogoeDiamond 28th July 2011 11:43 PM

okey so basicllly

There is an AKB FAMILY (there is no such name but lets just name it like that)

They have under them

FIVE main groups
- AKB48 (main group - they had their own theather in akihabara (Tokio) where they performe STAGES - stage is like a musical but without any plot just dancing and songs they have concerts (sometimes with other AKB family groups), release singles and albums)doing tv shows , etc
* the diffrence between stages and concerts are that concert can have songs from many stages , singles , album songs

fiour TEAMS - A , K - B and 4 - each team have their own STAGES

there is also AKB Trainee Team - they are in traing members who when official members graduate from any team are filling their spot - Trainee Team got their own stages too

- SKE48 ( Teather for SKE is in Nagoya , teams S, KII (K-2 since team K is already in AKB ) , E and Trainee Team. Pretty much like akb )
- NMB48 (Teather in Osaka they are on the begining - there is just Team N and Trainee Team the same idea all over again)
- HTK48 (those are not formed yet - auditions are on start)

there is also
SDN48 - This is like AKB but shows are more mature and for adult people
they had generations instead of Teams :) But its prety much the same concept

AKB also had units

they are like mini bands - made from AKB members
sometimes they release one single (Like natto girls to promote Natoo Day)
and sometimes they are long term groups like no3b :) girls from units work in unit and AKB at the same time

some Members from SKE i NMB sometimes perform in AKB singles becuase of their popularity among AKB fans

NintendoHTF1242 28th July 2011 11:57 PM

^ Thanks for that explanation! Very informative. It's amazing how you guys can memorize some of the members x.x the only one I remember is the Dear J girl.

PoetGirl 29th July 2011 12:02 AM

wow, thanks so much for explaining! Its much clearer now, but I have one more question, what does 'graduate' mean? why would girl leave the band. I dont get that part.

OogoeDiamond 29th July 2011 12:10 AM

Because they cant be in it anymore - like they want to focus on studies or make a solo carrier
* or become a porn star like Rina chan xD

They are also rumors that menagement sometimes force less popular girls to graduate but its not confimed
they where also cases when girls was Fired because of her bad attitute - like dating a guy or not showing at rhrls

And also I forgot to mention that there are two girls who has a solo carrier but they are still in the group and their solo project is a part of AKB family

- Itano Tomomi
- Maeda atsuko

also sorry for mistakes (some of them I just corrected but its late and I am tired xD and its really hard to explain it at they beginning xD

PoetGirl 29th July 2011 12:12 AM

oh, I thought its like obligation to leave, like every girl has few months/years to be there and that's it. 'cause its a good marketing strategy from my point of view, they make it more interesting that way. but its bad when you become a fan of one girl and she leaves @_@

maybe thats why its so many of them, lol, it is so confusing, but they are really cute so I cant help it than start listening to them.

Amrai-chan 29th July 2011 12:14 AM

If you're just getting into them then no.

If you trying to get into them like bondingo said you should go for the singles and b-sides.

However if you do want to go for an album I'd recommend one of their stage albums.

I'd say, チームA 3rd Stage「誰かのために」this album has songs such as Bird and Dareka no Tame ni ~What can I do for someone?~

チームK 6th Studio Recording「RESET」and チームA 6th Studio Recording「目撃者」 are good too.

its really refreshing that they are so many of them and there is like a rotation of members

and Amrai is right - GO FOR STAGES - AITAKUTE and DAREKA NO TAME NI are great!

PoetGirl 29th July 2011 12:33 AM

thanks, I will

everyday katyusha is such a summer anthem, love it

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98f2J7h-Ya0 - ofcial movie - WHAT IS AKB
just to tidy up what you know from my post:)

BTW I really cant belive what happened to Rina Chan
I mean she was like one of thr AKB most popular members - she was a leader of Chocolove unit and after graduation she ended up playing in hard porn

PoetGirl 29th July 2011 03:31 AM

thanks for sharing, awsome video! and they are all so cute, like really :heart
I dont get their haters

OogoeDiamond 29th July 2011 03:36 AM

only thing I dont like about AKB is that they usually sing from playback or half playback even though a lot of them really can sing live

I like how they have that video in a few other languages. Too bad it's a little out of date.

As far as Rina some are speculating that she may be quitting porn soon because she's apparently taking vocal lessons and because apparently she was only signed for 7 AV releases.

Flying Get's covers are out. http://www.oricon.co.jp/news/music/2000091/full/

I don't like them very much.

Polyrhythm 29th July 2011 03:54 AM

Wow. They actually made covers that look cheaper than Chance no Junban's. Wow. I can't even believe that happened lol.

EDIT: Okay on second thought, Type A has that cool, old fashioned movie thing going on, but it's still sloppy as heck.

i like the theather edition cause Mii-Chan (minami minegishi) on it lol

LacusClyne 29th July 2011 04:00 AM

What? So they made the limited versions with same covers... I was hoping for 5 different covers.

Polyrhythm 29th July 2011 04:02 AM

Let there be a miracle...that those are the limited covers and there will be decent, Regular edition ones. =/

They look like bootlegs I would find at my local, 99 cent Chinese CD shop -_-

Also I'm curious but is your user name related to the idol group by the name of Chu Lips?

Yeah, that's the good part. I think most of the budge probably went towards the PV.

I was looking on tokyo hive it says that Itano Tomomi revealed through her official blog that she was diagnosed with vocal cord nodules

Here is the full post

Spoiler:

On July 28th, AKB48 member Itano Tomomi revealed through her official blog that she was diagnosed with vocal cord nodules.

She wrote, “This whole month I was thinking my voice was hoarse…it seems that I have vocal cord nodules.” She added, “I am worried that it won’t heal that quickly. For now, I would like some rest.”

Vocal cord nodules are condition where the two vocal cords comes in contact and creates friction, thus making one’s voice hoarse and hinders the ability to sing in higher pitches.

The fans expressed their concern with, “Take care of yourself”, “I hope your voice is healed before any event… Take care”, “I wish for Tomochin’s speedy recovery and health (>_<) Take care…”, and “Are you ok (>_<)? I am really worried and I hope you get better soon!!”.

Miichan's pretty cool. :) Ai Otsuka? Oh okay.

Regarding Tomochin it seems that the entry was deleted already but there are many talking about it. I hope she was just guessing what was wrong and doesn't actually have vocal cord nodules but either way I hope she will be okay.

PoetGirl 29th July 2011 04:17 AM

covers are horrible, but they rarely have decent covers imo.
they are often too sexy (bikinis and stuff) or too crowded like now lol.

I downloaded last album as well!

I like Sakura no ki ni naro, its really girly.
but covers for Heavy rotation for example is like covers for porn lol.
not that its a bad thing, its just, this is music so its not really tasteful.

what? I think you mistaken me for someone,
but I was talking about cover for a single, why you compare people's personal
photos with artists who have contracts and releases music :shakehead

I dont understand you really

MemorialAddress 29th July 2011 06:41 AM

^ Uh, because you're calling that photo distasteful when you used to post similar photos of yourself on here all the time. It's just really hypocritical :shrug

PoetGirl 29th July 2011 06:46 AM

Im not artist for god's sake. :shakehead

Its not hypocritical, its just world is not just black and white.

I said its nothing wrong with being sexy or showing skin,
but its not tastefully made for a single cover.

and I dont even have a pic of myself in lingerie so I dont know what you are
talking about. But In my regular life I dont see anything wrong with showing some skin,
its just different when you go to club and have fun and sell your MUSIC just though sex appeal.

which btw I dont think this group is all about but you are so defesive here and I dont know why since I like this girls

MemorialAddress 29th July 2011 06:52 AM

^ No one ever said anything about you being an artist. And yes you have posted provocative pictures on here in the past :P
There's nothing wrong with showing skin, I just thought it was a silly comment for you of all people to make.

PoetGirl 29th July 2011 06:54 AM

Im not here to explain my style in real life, and I dont think it matters cause
I really think its different from being a celebrity and a regular person.

Now, excuse me, I like you guys but you are just being silly now.

OogoeDiamond 29th July 2011 07:13 AM

damn stop arguing about stupid stuff

This is no porn...this is gentle and erotic
if this is disguasting then Any lingerie ad is porn....
Yuko looks BEAUTIFUL and hot and its all that matters

Or like the director herself said

Quote:

Mika Ninagawa: I tried to show how AKB48 is in real life, in the video. In the dressing room, they seemed very close to each other. Then I came up with the concept, girl's high school. Mr. Akimoto agreed with this concept. In the video, I set several girl-girl scenes, such as lingerie or kiss scene. I explained to the girls of AKB48 that lingerie did not mean dirty sexuality. In general high school students wear sexy lingerie and show it to each other in the school. I explained my concept of how the lingerie was linked to the innocence and good of AKB48. They comfortably understood my concept and willingly accepted to wear lingerie. I asked AKB48 to choose their hair ornament, but I brought in my fashion team to do their hair and make up. Together we transformed them into a new AKB48. I could see different faces of AKB48 after that. Some members even fell asleep during the stand-by, which we recorded in the video. They were really cute.
but yeah no fighting guys

Erena's new blog!

Polyrhythm 29th July 2011 04:43 PM

^I saw that on Stage48 but thanks! Can't believe it's been a year. :(

Aspen 29th July 2011 06:35 PM

Since I'm rather new to them (tbh, I wasn't that fond of them at the beginning), I wanted to know if someone can recommend me any of their older material that stands out (stage songs mainly, I guess)?

I enjoy nearly everything as long it's not generetic and boring (lol, who doesn't) and thought that maybe some of u know some of their older "highlight songs", or good B-sides that tend to get overlooked. It's not that I'm not willing to look for myself, it's just that they have so many songs and singles out there that it would need hours or days to go trough all of it.

Well, thanks in advance and I hope that I don't appear to be rude (for not looking myself) :D.

OogoeDiamond 29th July 2011 07:04 PM

- Whole A1 STAGES - those songs are pure classics

A2
- Aitakatta
- Nageki no Figure

- Whole A 3 and 4 both are outstanding like hell

K2
- Korogaru Ishi ni Nare
- Blue Rose
K3 (this is worst stage for me )
- Nakinagara Hohoende
- Maria

Aspen 29th July 2011 07:31 PM

Wow, fast answer. I'll take a look at those and will post my opinion later, thanks :D.

Ranma Matsuri 29th July 2011 10:28 PM

Add a little bit of B love here XD:

B3- Tenshi no Shippo
B3- Pajama Drive

I haven't listened to the full singles of their older material but going by the past three years, their B-sides typically aren't really that good (it's a different story for the rest of the xx48 family though). The only ones I've really LOVED are:

Team B Shonichi (Namida Surprise!)
Namida no See-saw Game (Heavy Rotation)
Lucky Seven (Heavy Rotation)
Team A Kuromi to Dialogue (Chance no Juuban)
Team K ALIVE (Chance no Juuban)
Team B Love Jump! (Chance no Juuban)

I'd also suggest checking out the sub-units and soloists as I'm a person that tends to like those more than the flagship group (it's the same for me with Morning Musume and H!P) so you might find some gems there. :)

OogoeDiamond 29th July 2011 10:43 PM

no3b a generally the best unit for me xD

Ranma Matsuri 29th July 2011 11:02 PM

They were my top unit but Watarirouka Hashiritai (7) took their place. XD

But no3b (imho) is still the best unit AKB has. They're kinda like the DEF.DIVA or High-King of the AKB48 fandom, just a well balanced group of total talent. :yes

dreamland2.0 30th July 2011 12:09 AM

Some of my favourite stage songs that weren't mentioned

Namida no Shounan (A2)
Bird (A3)
Namida Uri no Shoujo (A3)
Mr. Kissman (A4)
LOVE CHASE (A4)
Renai Kinshi Jourei (A5)
Kimi wa Pegasus (K3)
Saishu Bell ga naru (K4)
Junjou Shugi (B3)
Inochi no tsukaimichi (B3)
Zannen Shoujo (B4)
Itoshiki Natasha (B4)
Locker Room Boy (B5)

(you probably shouldn't listen to me though. I think they're whole discography is good.)

Oh and for b-sides definitely FIRST LOVE on Namida Surprise!

Chu-Lip506 30th July 2011 12:43 AM

my package came today i finally got Beginner single, its the Theater Edition, i also got SDN48's Ai, Chuseyo and SKE48's Banzai Venus, both also Theater editions

Aspen,
i also recommend blue rose
and
Choose Me! ( Sakura no Shiori )
Majisuka Rock 'n' Roll ( Sakura no Shiori )
Korekara Wonderland ( Everyday, Katyusha )

Amrai-chan 30th July 2011 03:40 AM

As far as singles go I'd say go for the Bsides like others have mentioned ALIVE, Lucky Seven and so on.

Echoing what others have said about Blue rose, Kimi wa Pegasus and MARIA.

As far as other stage songs.

Trying not to list what others have already said. In stage order...

109
Namida no shinkokyuu
Mokugekisha
Return Match
Kaiyuugyo no Capacity
Melos no Michi
Mushi no Ballad
Temo demo no namida
Confession
Mori e ikou
Seishun no inatzuma

Polyrhythm 30th July 2011 06:58 AM

....if only I had skills like that. My college GPA would be so much higher :P

and to the people discovering AKB just now, I also suggest watching some of their variety shows. They're just so entertaining, much more than singing, dancing robots. Real people.

bondingo 30th July 2011 07:14 AM

^Totally. Like, that's honestly what's what got me so into them. Their music is great, but knowing them makes it so much better.

ANTIGLOBABURA XDDDD SO ADORABLE XD But what country was that xD ?

PoetGirl 30th July 2011 09:30 AM

aw, thank you guys for everything

NintendoHTF1242 30th July 2011 02:03 PM

That girl has mad skills. Are there more videos like that for other members? They seem so fun lol

Aspen 30th July 2011 02:35 PM

Thanks for all those recommendations, don't have time to check it out today, but I'll listen to it as soon as possible :).

As for the units: I will only start looking through their material when I'm finished with AKB48 stuff. Otherwise I'll loose sight of what I've already heard and will worry that I'm loosing something out :innocent.

Edit: Well, I decided that I'll go to training later and listened to the songs instead. I liked most of the songs from Stage K and A, style of Team B seems to soft for me. Therefore I'll just download some of their Stage Albums (hopefully I'll find them somewhere Oo) and look if I'll find other songs that I like. Thanks again@everyone!

Earth_maiden 30th July 2011 04:58 PM

I'm very new to AKB48, and I'm wondering if someone knows which version of the Beginner CD+DVD single has the uncensored version of the PV on it? Thanks so much. ^_^

NintendoHTF1242 30th July 2011 05:43 PM

I don't think any of the editions actually have the uncensored one...but I could be wrong.

bondingo 30th July 2011 08:45 PM

^^Nintendo's right. Neither version has it unfortunately. The only way to have the video is to buy "AKB ga Ippai" (which is SO worth it by the way).

Earth_maiden 31st July 2011 10:26 AM

damn. I might get the AKB ga Ippai DVD if there's an OS release, I can't afford to buy it if I want to get Ayu's CDL10-11. T_T

Amrai-chan 31st July 2011 01:32 PM

So it seems Aimi's picture was stolen.

From the official blog

An unfortunate announcement

Today, the picture of "Eguchi Aimi" that is on the wall in the theater was stolen.

It seems that this happened when we were selling pictures today.

I think that this occurred because on a whim in the heat of the moment.

Also, I think that right about now, the person who did it regrets it.

If you do regret it, please return the picture.

It's simple for us to prepare a replacement for the theater.

But that's not the point.

That a picture hasn't been stolen off the wall until now is proof of the strong bond of trust between the theater and the fans.

If you would return the picture to the theater, we would appreciate it.

And, I believe that such an incident will not occur again.

Not cool. Like it says the fact that no pictures have been stolen until now is proof of the bond of trust between the staff and fans. No one took any of the pictures. Now that someone has it's disrespectful to Togasaki-san and the other staff who placed that trust in the fans.

I hope they return the picture.

On another another note I'm beginning to like NMB. I watched their 1st Stage. Their version of Team A's 3rd Stage is pretty good. I had only heard Bird before and it's pretty good. Sayanee has a good voice. Although you know how you can hear backing vocals on some songs? I hear them during the watashi part. I checked just to make sure and I don't hear it in the original.

I was wondering how their version of Rider would sound and unsure if they could do the song justice because it's about a fan who passed away but they did a really good job. The whole stage sounds really good. The girls were very sharp. Of course like with SKE I have to get to know the girls a little better.

I want to see their version of K2.

PoetGirl 1st August 2011 03:30 AM

I didnt have time to check their latest album but I did listen to flower by that leader girl,
its a nice single, I enjoyed every song, which I cant say for tomochin single, I dont know,
it has some nice songs but the lead track didnt do anything for me.

OogoeDiamond 1st August 2011 03:55 AM

I prefer Tomochin over Aaaachan xD
Tomo is so fierce and sexy and A is so null and colorless (I cant find a world here - she is just boring) I find her cute but a little bit annoying...and she is overshowed...rly

PoetGirl 1st August 2011 04:05 AM

but she's not my fav, from what I could seen from this shows and performances I checked
my fav is mayuyu, she's adorable!

I started listenin koko ni ita koko, I think Ive read here its not such a good album,
but I actually like every song lol, I cant even pick my fav since they all are cute and catchy, have nice melodies and such.

and I found this http://umi-uta.livejournal.com/3472.html
omg so many

dreamland2.0 1st August 2011 04:53 AM

^It's Acchan.
And she is the Queen.

^I really enjoyed the album too.
You'll find their music has lots of different styles.

PoetGirl 1st August 2011 05:00 AM

I already realized that haha, everyday katyusha sugar overload (and my fav so far)
and fierce beginner.

So, I finished with koko ni ita koko, amazin' album from start to finish,
Ill listen 2nd stage by team B now.

its just she is so beautiful and fierce sometimes and sometimes they just show her as OMG I AM SO POOR MAEDA NO ONE LIKES ME SAYAKA AND YUKO ARE FIGHTING WITH ME
she is nice but sometimes kinda character less

Tom Punks 1st August 2011 03:08 PM

I like that Acchan is just kind of... there. I saw someone somewhere else say this before, but I don't remember where. Basically, when Yuuko is front and center, she pretty much outshines everyone else. But when Acchan is center, she's "just there" so everyone else gets a chance to shine as well. :)

Ugh, I love it tooooo. When I first heard the beginning, I was like ":shakehead They finally put out an A-side I don't like?!" But no, it turned out amazing.

I know I'm so late, but I just watched Everyday, Kachu-sha for the first time a few days ago, and I really didn't like it at all. I know the PV was supposed to be a mash-up of their old PVs, but I thought it just looked rushed, cheap, tacky and unprofessional. >_< It almost looked like they filmed it slower and then sped it up...

Did you say the exact same thing on the last.fm page for RIVER? Because someone did and I completely agree.
