Ohno Satoshi to unlock mysterious cases in Fuji TV’s next Monday drama
Two networks have just announced a new drama for the upcoming season and they both will be starring a member from the popular group Arashi. One of the networks is Fuji TV, who finally lifted the secret about their next Monday drama. It’s title is going to be ‘Kagi no Kakatta Heya‘ and will star Ohno Satoshi as the protagonist. ‘Kagi no Kakatta Heya’ is based on a mystery novel by Kishi Yuusuke. It tells the story of an employee of a major security firm (Ohno), who is solving the mysteries related to cases that happened behind closed doors. His job is to find out how the perpetrator entered the locked room and how he managed to leave it under such circumstances. He’s the best fit for the job, because he’s personally obsessed with keys and locks and even goes as far as claiming that ‘there are no locks that cannot be broken’. At first glimpse he looks like a calm and collected guy, but in the heat of solving the mystery behind a locked room he’s burning with an incredible tenacity. He’s an unconventional hero who is helping with cases one request after another. For Ohno this is not only going to be his first Monday drama starring role, but also his first starring role on Fuji TV in general. He’s going to receive the baton from fellow Arashi member Matsumoto Jun, who is starring in this season’s Monday drama ‘Lucky Seven‘. He commented, “It’s been a while since my last role as a human being. The other network is NTV, who announced a new drama called ‘Mikeneko Holmes no Suiri‘, starring Aiba Masaki as the protagonist. ‘Mikeneko Holmes no Suiri’ is based on a popular ‘Mikeneko Holmes‘ mystery novel series by Akagawa Jiro. It tells the story of ‘Katayama Yoshitaro’ (Aiba) who became a detective in order to comply with the dying wish of his father who was a famous detective himself. Katayama is currently with MPD’s First Investigation Division, although he’s not cut out to be a detective at all. He not only can’t see blood, but he’s also terribly afraid of heights, women, and ghosts. One day, he meets a cat with three colors of fur (‘mikeneko’) who goes by the name of ‘Holmes’. This cat can understand humans and it also possesses brilliant reasoning skills. The two of them form a team and together they manage to solve various difficult cases. This role is going to mark Aiba’s first drama starring role on NTV and it’s going to be a funny one according to the producers. We are up for many verbal quarrels between the protagonist and the cat, and judging by his character, the protagonist is most probably going to come out as the loser more than just a few times. Akagawa commented, “I’m looking forward to see how the chemistry is going to be between Aiba, from this generation’s leading group Arashi, and Mikeneko Holmes.” Aiba himself said, “I’m very nervous, since the original is loved by so many people, but I’m also looking forward to the drama a lot. Sho Sakurai enjoying the local drinks in Okinawa
On location shooting at a tropical beach with emerald green seas, Arashi’s Sho Sakurai and actress Keiko Kitagawa are in Okinawa to work the special drama episode of “謎解きはディナーのあとで (Nazo-toki wa Dinner no atode)”, reports Tokyo Walker on February 14. The Nazo-toki team have been doing on location shoots since February 10 for the drama, which is based on the award-winning novel of the same name. The story follows Reiko Hosho (Kitagawa), one of the richest heiresses in the world and now a new police detective, and Kageyama (Sakurai), Reiko’s mean-mouthed butler who uses his amazing detective skills to guide Reiko to figure out who the killer is . The production team and cast had spent two days on the Okinawa beach, where the weather stayed fine most of the time, although there was a little rain on the second day’s morning. It has been reported in between shoots, Sakurai had a great time trying out the local drinks. During the night he would go into the convenience store to buy 泡盛 (Awamori, an alcoholic drink made in Okinawa). Then, during dinner Arashi would try some 古酒 (Kusu, old vintage Awamori). Sakurai said this shoot felt like the real end to the drama. “When we finished filming the drama series in December, we’d already been told there was going to be an special episode, so this shoot feels like the real finish. We’ve got a week’s worth of shooting to do, and I hope we can all give it our best and stay in one piece.” The episode begins with the death of a Western painter. Then, the story moves to Okinawa. Ohno and Aiba each get lead in two upcoming dramas Arashi’s Satoshi Ohno and Masaki Aiba will star in dramas starting from April, it was announced on February 21, reports Sponichi Annex and Oricon. Ohno will play a detective in “鍵のかかった部屋 (Kagi no Kakatta Heya, The Locked Room)”, while Aiba will play a police detective who solves cases with his partner, a cat, in “三毛猫ホームズの推理 (Mike-neko Holmes no Suiri, Calico Cat Holmes’ Mysteries)”. “Let’s go out for drinks when we’ve finished shooting! If you’re having trouble solving a case then let me know,” Ohno said. “Let’s go fishing when we finish shooting. I hope we’ll never give up, even when we can’t crack a case,” Aiba said. “Kagi no Kakatta Heya” is based on Yusuke Kishi’s novel of the same name. Unlike normal detective stories, the novel focuses on cases that happened inside a room with locked doors and windows. It is up to Ohno’s detective character to solve the mystery. The Arashi leader said his new role is a complete change from his Kaibutsu-kun drama. “It’s my first human role in a long time. It’s also a character I’ve never had experience with playing so I’m hoping to do my best! I’ll see you behind the closed door!” “Mike-neko Holmes no Suiri” is based on Jiro Akagawa’s novel of the same name. It follows a police detective who manages to solve cases with the help of a calico cat who can understand human language and has a talent for solving mysteries. Aiba said there would be extra things to look out for in the drama other than his scared-of-looking-at-blood-and-scared-of-women police detective character. “I want my acting to balance out my character’s comical side and serious side. Arashi holds mini-live in Miyagi for Tohoku disaster victims
On February 22nd, Arashi visited Miyagi prefecture to hold a mini live at Shichigahama Kokusaimura. This was a part of NTV’s upcoming music program special called “Nittere-kei Ongaku no Saiten Ongaku no Chikara 2012“, which will be broadcasted on March 7th. Though the members have visited the Tohoku disaster areas individually, this day marked the first time for all five members to pay a visit together. Before the mini live, they also made a stop at the temporary housing area in Ishinomaki city, communicating with the residents there. The boys invited 500 disaster victims to the live for free, and performed a total of 11 songs, including their new song “Wild at Heart” (to be released on March 7th). Leader Ohno Satoshi commented, “I felt the power of people there. Everybody was high-spirited and had amazing smiles. It was a great atmosphere, as it even gave Arashi energy.” Fellow member Matsumoto Jun said, “I saw an audience member weep with emotion (at the live), but in the end, everyone there was smiling which made me realize the amazing power of music. With all the members together, I would like to search for things we could do.” It was also announced that member Sakurai Sho will make a live appearance from the disaster area on NTV’s special news program, “NNN Houdou Tokuban ‘Fukkou TV Minna no Chikara 3・11′” as a ZERO caster. Toda Erika chosen as the heroine for Ohno Satoshi’s upcoming drama
today, it was announced that Toda Erika has been chosen as the heroine for the drama. This will be the first time for Ohno and Toda to co-star with each other, and also, the first time for Toda to play the role of a lawyer. This drama tells the story of a protagonist, Enomoto Kei (Ohno) who is obsessed with keys and locks, and solves the mysteries related to cases that happened behind closed doors. Toda will play a rookie lawyer named Aoto Junko. Toda’s role is that of a very pure and positive girl, where she takes actions by instinct, thus sometimes saying astounding things, causing trouble for people around her. The story starts where Junko offers Enomoto help to solve an incident that happened behind closed doors, when she happens to see Enomoto easily unlock a heavy vault door. I'm quite disappointed with Arashi's new single. I don't like any of the songs very much and the only one I listened to more than once is "Futari no Katach".
For me "Meikyuu love song" definitely beats this single! But I'm still looking foward to their "Music Station"-performance next week! :yes |
lol that's odd because out of the 3 B-sides included in Wild At Heart , I find that Futari no Katachi to be the weakest despite it having Sakurap . Maybe because I've heard the radio rips of the other 2 B-sides way before the HQ leak out :O
I still wish they incorporate Sakurap in their singles again , I find it hard to believe it has been 3 years since a Sakurap included single was released :tired But in terms of overall quality , Wild At Heart is better imo . Meikyuu Love Song was boring , at least the PV saved things from being a further bore :3 |

On the March 5th broadcast of HEY! HEY! HEY! Music Champ, Arashi appeared on stage to perform their new single “Wild at Heart“! Along with their performance, they held a brief interview and talked about how they celebrated Sakurai Sho’s birthday on the last day of their tour “Beautiful World” and gave a surprise present. Arashi to light up Tokyo Tower
Popular group Arashi announced on March 13 at a press conference for Fuji TV's 'Hana Arashi' campaign that the Tokyo Tower will be lit up on March 16 in the Arashi colours. The top of the tower will be bathed in purple, yellow, green, red and blue light. This will the first time that the tower has been lit up with five colours. Matsumoto Jun (28) gave promotion for his currently airing drama 'Lucky Seven' saying that the last episode will be filmed during the lighting up and that 'the tower will be appear in the last episode on March 19'. Ninomiya Kazunari (28) followed this up saying, 'Next we'll light up Aiba's family house'. Aiba Masaki (29) entreated him to stop, 'Stop it! You'll cause problems for my neighbours'. Tokyo Tower to get Arashi makeover this week

It has been reported Arashi were in Odaiba, Tokyo, on March 13 to appear at Fuji TV’s “華嵐 (Hana-Arashi)” campaign event. A model of what Tokyo Tower will look like this Friday night showed the tower covered from top to bottom in Arashi’s group colours blue, red, green, yellow, and purple. Since the mid-2000s, Arashi has sprung into the top artist seat, but since last year, their popularity has started to see gloom. Arashi up to 2010 was filled with vigor. In the 2009 Oricon Yearly Ranking they held the Top 3 spots alone, and the next year sucessfully held first place on the same ranking, winning over AKB48. It was thought “Arashi’s Era” would continue. However, in the same ranking in 2011, in the Top 10 their 35th single “Lotus” took 6th place, and their 36th single “Meikyuu Love Song” took 7th. Furthermore, Arashi has seen a decline in variety show viewership ratings. “Himitsu No Arashi-chan”, for example, has begun to stand out for making 10% ratings. Internet fans have stated “Arashi’s variety shows are just like other programs, so I’m tired of it,” or “They appear too much in the media, so I don’t have the willpower to search them out now.” As thought, Arashi has finally reached their peak. A person connected to the entertainment world and knows about idol groups offers his knowledge: “In the 2000s, Arashi appearing in the media increased, and they acquired many new fans. However on the other hand, they’ve lost the power to attract core fans who shell out money, and their popularity foundation is dwindling. At the same time, however, groups like Kanjani8 or Hey! Say! Arashi is a great group and they sell like crazy ("Wild at Heart"-single anybody?)! Of course their popularity will decline again, but this happens to every artist! I can understand that there are people, who are tired of them by now, but this seem to be the people, who have always only been casual fans (or haters!). As for their TV shows: "Himitsu no Arashi-chan" was great in the past, but it's boring now, "Arashi ni Shiyagare" is okay, when they have interesting guests, but I think that "vs. Arashi" is just getting better and better. And why does Arashi have to create their own era? When you love an artist, then this artist is the best for you, no matter how popular or unpopular! |

I'm personally more of a casual listener, and I do like their music. Usually I don't really like Japanese boybands because at times they seem too cute but Arashi is great (and Jun Matsumoto is awesome in Hana Yori Dango haha :luv2). I don't think their popularity is declining that much since they sell like hell even today. Of course, decline will happen eventually but it's ok I think. :D |

Tokyo Tower was lit up in the five Arashi colours - purple, yellow, green, red and blue - for one night on March 16, 2012 as part of Fuji TV's Hana Arashi campaign. For those interested, you can check out footage of the lit-up Tokyo Tower on the Hana Arashi campaign website (video is only available to those in Japan) or on Youtube. Masaki Aiba talks about playing a good-for-nothing police detective
Arashi’s Masaki Aiba talked about his upcoming drama role at the “三毛猫ホームズの推理 (Mike-neko Holmes no Suiri)” press conference in Tokyo on March 19, reports Nikkan Sports and Sponichi Annex. In this drama series Aiba plays a police detective who faints when he sees blood, is scared of heights, women, and ghosts. “He’s got so many faults. He believes everything people say to him and the bad guys take advantage of him. But those can work in his favour too. He’s not a new kind of hero, but I hope people will enjoy watching the ups and downs of this good-for-nothing police detective,” Aiba said. It has been reported Aiba had said his drama and Arashi leader Satoshi Ohno’s drama “鍵のかかった部屋 (Kagi no Kakatta Heya)”, which both start their seasons around the same time, are totally different. “They might be in the same mystery genre, but the characters and stories are on completely different lines. I hope both teams can work harmoniously.” The drama is based on the best-selling novel series “三毛猫ホームズ (Mike-neko Holmes)” by Jiro Akagawa. Mr Akagawa was also at the press conference and said he had visited the drama set while they were filming. “It helped a lot that the cat was very calm. TBS just released new 30 seconds CM for Kanjani8's Nishikido Ryo upcoming drama "Papa Wa Idol". In the said comedy-drama that will start on April 19th, Nishikido Ryo will play as himself who got married to a single mother with three kids. Playing the role of his wife will be Yuka, while his kids will be played by Umika Kawashima, Yuki Imai, and Kanon Tani. Sakurai Sho caught being rude to fans at train station
On March 11th, around the time of last year’s Tohoku Earthquake, Sakurai Sho visited residents of the Aizuwakamatsu area of Fukushima, in order to tape a broadcasting of Nippon’s Television “Fukkou Terebi Minna no Chikara”. At the taping, Sakurai was mostly without smiles, from beginning to end, only endowed with a serious face. Viewers who watched the program were apparently heart-torn at his demeanor. A few hours later after the taping, Sakurai was allegedly sighted at a Tokyo train station. “It was around 10 P.M. when the Shinkansen arrived,” claims a train passenger. “Fangirls, who somehow found out the information he was going to be there there, were already waiting”. That day Sakurai, due to being in a disguise of only wearing a cap, was quickly exposed. “When he started down the stairs heading quickly to the ticket barrier, a ton of fangirls crowded around him. In the next moment, Sho-kun gave the girls a sharp look as if to say ‘don’t talk to me’”. Instead of shaking hands or signing autographs, Sakurai only appeared to show a glaring face as if he was giving a threatening look to them. Then, when he saw a fan with a camera phone in her hand, a surprising outburst occurred. A passenger who happened to be present claims that, “[Sakurai] shouted ‘don’t take pictures!’ at the girl and knocked the cellphone that she was holding out her hand. He did it with a lot of force so when the cellphone hit the ground the place went into an uproar. A colour of distinct terror oozed out of that girl’s face.” Without even caring about the fallen phone, Sakurai allegedly went to the exit at full speed. Even after having his ticket examined, his anger didn’t subside. “While saying ‘stop’, he just kept brushing off the fangirl’s hands while walking. In the end he knocked down about 5 cellphones. NMB48, the youngest sub-unit of AKB48, have managed to rank first in Oricon music first week sales for three consecutive times since their record debut. Arashi’s upcoming single chosen as theme song for drama ‘Kagi no Kakatta Heya’
On April 5th,the new Fuji TV drama ‘Kagi no Kakatta Heya‘ held a press conference in Tokyo, where they announced Arashi’s upcoming single “Face Down” has been chosen as the drama’s theme song. The protagonist of the drama, Ono Satoshi, attended this conference with co-stars Toda Erika and Sato Koichi. With “Face Down”, Arashi set a new record by providing the theme songs for a ‘Getsu9′ drama for two seasons in a row. Last drama season, the group’s 37th single “Wild At Heart” was the theme to Matsumoto Jun’s drama ‘Lucky Seven‘. At the conference, Ono commented on his single “Face Down”, “Fitting in well with this drama, the lyrics are mysterious. That is brand-new for us. Arashi has been singing many kinds of songs, and this new single makes me feel like we’re seeing a new side of Arashi.‘ Sato Koichi agreed, “The song goes well with the drama“, while Toda Erika stated, “This is a really cool song. I makes the drama world seem like it’s expanding, and it raises my spirits.” This mystery drama is about Emoto Kei, played by Ono, who is an employee of a major security company. He’s requested to solve mysteries related to cases that are only known of behind closed doors. Toda’s role is Aoto Junko, a beautiful lawyer who helps out with the mystery solving.
