Once my credit card is changed over (it got hacked by a scammer today and I'm currently missing $353 :eviltongu) I can pre-order the new album. I can't wait!! I would wait until December when I'm in Japan but there's every possibility it will sell out by then...or am I just being paranoid? :innocent |

Song really isn't my favorite. Maybe it will grow on me because I've noticed sometimes I listen to her songs and think "nothing special" or even "I hate this" and then it's like "oh this is ok" and then all of a sudden "GOD I LOVE THIS" lmfao.
But the PV... what a disaster. First time I've watched a Kana PV and man is she freaking boring. She just looks so somber, dull and dead - you can really tell she is lip-syncing as her expressions don't fit the emotion in the music at all. |

I love you Kana but.... b***** you looks dead in that PV. garrrrrrrrl was just staring at the camera. LIFELESS. And the more and more I listen to the song.. the more I feel it being really disappointing. I mean the very beginnning and the chorus WAS AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGG!!!! Then the rest is just meeeh :(

Be Strong is not innovative at all. However it's better than her previous single songs. It raises the level of the album that was really low for me. The pv is as the most of her pvs quite boring.

I don't think she's boring. Maybe because I just got into her but I thought her b-sides Just the way you are, Secret, Happy Half Year!, and Love Like Crazy are my favorites from her! I also have grown fond of Talk To Me, and GO FOR IT!! is a nice listen as well. Even that Summer song is on her latest single has grown on me. I don't think her older stuff is anywhere near as good. Especially "if" that everyone talks so much about. Was listening to it today and thought "Is this really 'If'? God it's so repetitive and boring, not much change throughout the song - kind of annoying." I prefer her more uplifting songs!

I feel like her songs this era focus so much on being your typical Jpop mainstream ballads that they have everything original stripped away.
The songs are pretty but get boring on multiple listens cause they all sound the same. |

Well, first, Be Strong's purpose is not to be creative, it's to SELL. It's an album promo track afterall, I wouldn't expect anything but what's made her popular to begin with.
Other tracks from this era were different though (SAKURA, I LOVE YOU? & GO FOT IT!! mainly). Obviously, it's hard to please everyone, but at least she's trying different things, yet keeping in mind what a more mainstream part of the population would like. I find it a bit odd if not harsh to call her boring when she's only been trying to offer us some variety while keeping some sort of unity in style... You might not like it, but it's not what I would call being boring. Esp. when she has not been around for so long... I can only speak for myself, but I enjoyed Tatoe Donna Ni.. & SAKURA ILY a lot, I still listen to those two a lot. On the other hand, not too fond of Watashitachi & GO FOR IT!!.. I used to like every single song Kana released, but this time I can't say I was pleased.. Even with the b-sides :/ |
I personally have enjoyed every single of this era a lot. There's no bad song that I've come across yet. I'm very excited for her album. :)

I don't think that Kana is boring, I think she is safe. At this moment she is the closest thing Sony has to an avex diva, save for maybe Miliyah. Sony needs to play their cards right and keep her reaching the widest audience. I do think that she is plain vanilla a lot, but every now and then I see a little chocolate and I have my love restored.

Kana's just doing what other JPop singers do: finding a niche that sells and sticking with it. It seems to me that most successful performers in Japan aren't overly concerned with "artistry" or trying to do everything and be everything with their music. It's like they figure "if I do 'this', someone else can do 'that', and music fans can listen to me when they're in the mood for what I have to offer and to someone else when they're not." It's just part of the conservative nature of Japan and its preference/appreciation of consistency. Just my two cents. ;) |

I like Kana's generic R&B ballads because she does them so well. And she usually changes things up a lot for her b-sides and album tracks so I don't know why y'all so pressed and trippin'

I'm sure Kana's music will change in time. :) Personally I love her R&B ballads, even if they're just midtempo ones, I don't really care because I've always been a sucker for some good R&B love songs (I've felt this way since I heard Hikki's DISTANCE lol). And Kana's voice fits with the genre really well. Also, I love that whenever she releases a R&B ballad, she always has a upbeat electronic song on the track list too. XD

I was going to leave it til next month before I bought this, but it looks like this album is having a similar distribution to her first two albums with the Limited Edition.
It's still easy to get a Limited Edition copy of Thank you Love, but the LE of Love Place has sold out on YesAsia, and there are only 11 copies left on cdjapan. |

I am looking forward to:
Day 7 FANTASY is this love? Honey I think overall it sounds more interesting than Thank You, Love; the only song I truly loved on that album was Where Are You, followed by Alright (which isn't even half as good as Where Are You). The rest of that album is a major bore so I believe this album already sounds much better and a longer play-life for me. |
I like the sound of Happy Half Year, and i'm really looking forward to get Be Strong in good quality. But the album sounds far too repetitive for me. I could hardly tell the previews apart when they changed.

After listening to the previews I'm interested in pretty much everything except for kiss & hug, so I'm pretty excited to hear the songs in full.
With the release of Love Place being so close, I've been listening to nothing but Kana songs all this weekend. Currently listening to her B-sides from singles before Tatoe Donna ni. |
Honey sounds so flawless I can't. Prologue/Epilogue this time around aren't as good (she'll never outdo Sunrise and Thank you, Love though so she should just stop)

FANTASY is the track that saves this album. It's amazing.
The chorus of Happy Half Year!!is nice. It's a pity that the verses don't sound as good as. I thought that Is this love? would be great when I heard the preview. But it was so-so because of the remix sound at the start of the song & in the song. Moreover that chinese rap totally killed the song. I don't really like honey, always because of those remix sounds in the chorus. Maybe I would have liked this song if she released it at the start of the summer & not in the end of the summer. I don't like Kana rap. None of the ballads make my heart beat. Their are too similar & aren't original. I even stopped Totoe Donna ni & I wanted to do the same thing with kiss & hug but as it's a new song I forced myself to listen to it until the end. I nearly fell asleep with Love song. I skip the awful & namby-pamby go for it. For me, Love place is her worst. The only song I really enjoy & I want to listen over and over is FANTASY. |
Okay, the album is actually pretty good. Is This Love was totally unexpected & Be Strong is ****ing amazing in HQ.

Okay, I don't understand people who call this album her worst release to date, because I totally adore this album. It has awesome ballads (My Place, Tatoe Donna ni...), good pop songs (Be Strong, DAY 7) and some really kick ass dance songs (is this love?, FANTASY) and even the intro and outro were great in my ears. I love every song on the album too. This album has made me obsessed with Kana again, and also gave me inspiration for the autumn layout on my website lol. Queen Kana's gonna slay the charts~ :heart

Sad to say that this is currently my least favorite Kana album so far. Almost all of the new tracks sound the same, coupled with some generic singles. She really filled this one with typical, pop fluff. :/

I don't like that this album sounds like there are only 2 type of songs.
First her ballads and second the upbeat ones. And except for the singles everything sounds too similar=( Kana has to reinvent herself or at least do something new. |
