"The 8th is Ayu Day", 5 Consecutive Months of New Releases

Releases so far:
November 8th, 2012 - LOVE [mini album with 12 tracks, 3 new songs. Song 4 u, Missing, and Melody. Song 4 u and Missing have PVs.]
December 8th, 2012 - again [mini album]

Summary:
- Normally, releases are done on Tuesday/Wednesday to try to get as many sales as possible during the Oricon week in a 'traditional release pattern'
- Instead of that, Ayu is releasing on the 8th of every month starting in November to commemorate her debut
- Ranking is not important, but rather the day that these are being released
- She wants to thank the fans who have followed her by releasing lots of songs
- We should also expect more surprises along the way
- The article hints at the possibility having 5 mini albums in 5 months with 3 songs each (which would make sense given that it'd total 15 songs for the 15th anniversary as pointed out by Mami-chan) since Ayu mentioned 'releasing a lot of new songs'
- At this time, whether the releases are singles, albums, DVDs, and so on is not known but they will stick to the release date of the 8th (今後もシングル、アルバム、DVDなど種類は未定だが、記念日にこだわり毎月新譜を発売する。 )

If I read the article correctly, it states that releases are, for no other reason, released the way they are in order to garner as many sales as possible within the Oricon week. Instead of honoring that form of release pattern, Ayu is honoring/commemorating the 8th of the month, her debut. The ranking is not important, but rather the day on which it is released.

She has also stated:
「たくさん新曲も発表させていただきますし、これまで支えてくださったファンのみんなへの感謝 の気持ちを込 めた企画も考えていきたいと思っています」と話しており、毎月の記念日をファンとともに楽しん でいくつもり だ。

Rough translation? She wants to thank the fans who have followed her throughout the years by releasing a lot of new songs. And that she tends to enjoy every 8th of the month along with her fans.

http://www.nikkansports.com/entertai...5-1022572.html

This Oricon article also states that we should expect further surprises as well.

http://www.oricon.co.jp/news/music/2017090/full/

If anyone can fully translate the articles, it would be great!

If we do end up getting five mini albums with three new songs each, 15 new songs would be awesome, but the price at which it would come... is a bit heavy. It's 12075 yen if you buy all CD+DVDs, or 7875 yen if you buy all CD only versions. And for most of us, that doesn't include the shipping costs as well. There are discounts here and there but that's usually just at Amazon.

Delicious n Bold 25th September 2012 05:17 PM

I never thought about the price until now.. ouch.
I have to see some covers first and hear a preview of the other two songs before I buy the Love single-disguised-as-a-mini-album.

Foyuki 25th September 2012 05:28 PM

could she get #1 on Dec.8th?

inspire_rmx 25th September 2012 05:31 PM

5 mini albums sounds cool.. would be awesome to have 5 really great covers and amazing new songs..
But would really prefer Avex to market these as 5 maxi singles from Ayu.

Minttulatte 25th September 2012 05:47 PM

I'm so curious to see how many #1's she might get. It would be nice if she got at least one. :)

jbrat2219 25th September 2012 05:53 PM

5 mini albums... :thud

Omg...

~ayu-cake~ 25th September 2012 05:54 PM

That sounds like a cool idea! I like the sound of it! :D
Expensive though :( It's supposed to be budget christmas for me this year ._.

Aderianu 25th September 2012 06:26 PM

12k for 15 songs without shipping cost ... that's really expensive. but it's not a single payment, we have 5 months
Also. She release 3 songs and 2 videos on this mini. In the end it might be 15 songs and 10 videos ^^

Foyuki 25th September 2012 06:28 PM

yep at least we will have new songs every month pathetic purse

ayuuk 25th September 2012 06:30 PM

Oh yeah the prices are so high in total...

Kanzaki 25th September 2012 06:43 PM

5 months = 5 minialbums? That's pretty fantastic, considering she's only ever released 3 of them (2 under Avex). This is going to be amazing!

alternarist 25th September 2012 06:48 PM

15 new songs over 5 months beats a full album and almost a quarter of it are interludes haha =x

but still, i cant afford all of them, will judge after listening to the songs, watched the PV and of cos the cover!

Delirium-Zer0 25th September 2012 06:55 PM

Watch her release a collection called "15" on April 8th that has all those songs on one album. Hahahaha. That... that would not be funny, actually.

axmish87 25th September 2012 06:57 PM

Is there going to be OS release for this mini album(s)
It would be much cheaper to get all 5 mini albums considering that FIVE is now 14.42 euro's
on HMVhk

axmish87 25th September 2012 07:06 PM

^^

She could pull-off a GACKT when he released singles 3 or 4 years ago which was part of his 10 anniversary as a solo singer and then he put them all on one album REBORN
She could do the same or release a double album 2CD+2DVD

mizuki-7 25th September 2012 07:07 PM

I ask myself if each release will be a mini album because this time it's ok she has different versions of You & Me never released physically but next time it will be only 3 new songs with remix of these songs so only 9 songs (I count instrumental ) ? it's little poor as content for a mini album

Maybe in one of these release we will get the song in collaboration with big bang ?? remember XD

jyujiw 25th September 2012 07:08 PM

I pointed out too the possibility of having 5 mini-albums with 3 new songs in each one. It's a pretty good idea imo

I can see in the 3/8 the release of A BEST 3 as well as a limited box having all the minis included. =)
It would be great.
Possibly I would get pissed off as I will be buying each release separately but well... I can handle it.

jyujiw 25th September 2012 07:13 PM

Thinking about it again. We could have an album with 2 CDs, one with all the musics of the minis and another with full new music.

No.

Ayumi_lover 25th September 2012 07:34 PM

Now I see, 'LOVE' is titled as mini-album because Ayu/avex doesn't want to lose her #1 steak

ayumisrael 25th September 2012 07:35 PM

It's an awesome idea but I would hope that the 5th release or next full album won't have any of the songs.

I also hope for nice tie-ins.

NintendoHTF1242 25th September 2012 08:07 PM

A MINI-ALBUM COLLECTION ~5-MONTHS BEST~ after this release spree is done.

attractive nausea 25th September 2012 08:25 PM

If she does release 5 mini albums i'll have to pay 150$, RIP my money. And I swear if she releases a "A MINI-ALBUM COLLECTION ~5-MONTHS BEST~" afterwards i'll just.. aqsduhn cvtfguefhpec;:g VCSZCRPC/)ài'dx"c

mizuki-7 25th September 2012 08:38 PM

Why would you she release a best of Albums ?? it does not make sense ! If she release a best it will be A best 3

No, that is definitely not why. JUJU has two best albums coming out that week.

TeamAyu2004 25th September 2012 08:48 PM

im confused..
where is it saying that there will be 5 mini albums with 3 songs each?

mizuki-7 25th September 2012 08:52 PM

Nowhere lol just imagination of fans

truehappiness 25th September 2012 08:55 PM

Because if she does five releases in five months that do end up being all music related and all brand new music, I think they could end up all being like LOVE rather than being a single/full album/etc. And being her 15th anniversary next year, it could be why this is a 3 track 'mini'.

The tracklist of the next album would have remixes for Song 4 u/Memory/Missing and so on... which would total about 60 new tracks (15 new songs, 15 instrumentals, and 30 remixes). Though it's just a theory.

I kinda like the theory because of the remixes...

I was just confused, because on your first post you made it sound like it was a fact that there were going to be 5 mini albums...
But you're thinking thats whats going to happen?

there has been no news information on this?

truehappiness 25th September 2012 09:21 PM

Well, it would certainly explain why this release only has three songs.

What other arrangement could it be? I don't see her releasing an original album at some point in the middle of these releases.

Catzi 25th September 2012 09:22 PM

It is "potentially," so it might not be 5 mini-albums. She's on tour now, right? Maybe one of the releases will be the DVD.

But if this 5 mini-albums thing was right, and only 3 new songs per album, then I guess I'm confused between single and mini-album.

In any case, I'm going to wait until everything releases to save on shipping cost.

if it is all music, she could do singles till she releases an album on the 8th april?

But I dont think it would all be music... she still has a concert to release on DVD...
Her books... a calendar..

but the article did say there was other surprises in store too, so...

hidekirby 25th September 2012 09:28 PM

A "new" album with the 15 tracks could be included as a bonus on A BEST 3 (hope avex won't read it even though I'm sure they don't need us to give them ideas!)

The way that they've talked about it is like...

第1弾のミニアルバム『LOVE』(11月8日発売)を皮切りに、自身初の5ヶ月連続リリース に挑戦する。

"The first part of the project which is a mini album" and so on.

I don't really know if they'll actually do five mini albums but we're definitely getting more than 3 new songs over the next few months judging from what she said.

axmish87 25th September 2012 09:31 PM

My god we actually would milk ayu's fans WORSE than Avex itself XD

TeamAyu2004 25th September 2012 09:35 PM

I would buy A Best 3 anyways...
But I would be most happy if it was coupled with a new album...
I think kuu did this? Best Session 3? or something

Agreed, unless those are new and improved versions, for example an acoustic version. I would take that over an instrumental any day :yes

Sandy 25th September 2012 11:59 PM

I'm excited :yes I just won't be able to purchase anything, so I hope the suprises wont be all limited this, limited that :P 5 mini albums is way better than five singles, yaaay ^^

Yeah, she packaged her original studio album UNIVERSE with her third best of, BEST ~third universe~. :yes

Jawdarna 26th September 2012 03:37 AM

I wonder if she will release an album with all the songs from the mini-albums following the last release?
(similar to Kuu's twelve singles crusade?)
If we do end up receiving fifteen original tracks, then that is more than enough for a new album.

All fifteen original tracks (on one CD) + A BEST 3?

jyujiw 26th September 2012 03:47 AM

I will buy A BEST 3 anyway, I'm sure it will be epic and it will take mostly the part that I turned an Ayu fan (2007 onwards) *_*
Everything that I was really knowing about =)

TeamAyu2004 26th September 2012 04:02 AM

if they do an A Best 3... i wonder what extra material they will add too it like they did with Best 2

Foyuki 26th September 2012 04:15 AM

= =I don't think they will release A BEST 3
the issue is that I don't think ayu will release A BEST 4
so such as A BEST X(φ) will be her last best album or a collection

Pieces_of_SEVEN 26th September 2012 06:05 AM

As I posted elsewhere, I think it was confirmed that it'll be new "MUSIC" each month, which rules OUT DVDs, but NOT remixes. COME ON AYU TRANCE 5!!

Maybe a new song. And give us free DVD that comes with AT 2012, lol just joking.

TeamAyu2004 26th September 2012 06:08 AM

^^ lol... someone is a little obsessed...

Pieces_of_SEVEN 26th September 2012 06:54 AM

Obvi, I'll buy whatever it is that she releases, even if I'm not happy about it LOL

tokyoxjapanxfan 26th September 2012 06:58 AM

Oh I guess I forgot to mention it... but,
Quote:

今後もシングル、アルバム、DVDなど種類は未定だが、記念日にこだわり毎月新譜を発売する。
The releases, whether single, album, or DVD, are uncertain. But whatever is released will stay true to the"memorial day" as they're calling it.

The article doesn't really say anything other than why it's being released on the 8th of every month, as well as her sales records and her statement. The very end mentions other artists, such as Koda Kumi, who have done consecutive releases.

Pieces_of_SEVEN 26th September 2012 07:17 AM

^^Ohhh so one of the releases COULD be a DVD, or even a photobook, or whatever. huh. Where'd we get that "each month will be new music" thing then...? Made up?

Mirrorcle Monster 26th September 2012 07:21 AM

One of the releases will be the calendar for sure

Pieces_of_SEVEN 26th September 2012 07:35 AM

^I didn't even think of that. For some reason, I think not. hm...

We got it from Ayu because she said "we're announcing lots of new music" which you wouldn't say about three songs only, right?

But from the very get go, they've been very vague about it. "5 releases in 5 months" is basically all that they've said officially and the rest was kind of just inferred as a possibility.

SURREAL__RAINBOW 26th September 2012 07:45 AM

She promises new music and we get a calendar... man that would be hilarious.

truehappiness 26th September 2012 07:49 AM

Well, we are due for a calendar soon... probably next month? It has to be out before 2013 because well... duh, calendars tend to release before the new year starts so people can start using it. So if it is coming out... Dec 2013, herro!

SURREAL__RAINBOW 26th September 2012 07:51 AM

Yeah, hopefully soon!

truehappiness 26th September 2012 08:10 AM

The most likely candidates which are set to be released soon anyway are:
Live DVD
Calendar
LIFE STYLE BOOK vol.2

And then maybe...
Another CD of some sort (not LOVE)
Another CD of some sort (not LOVE)

Pieces_of_SEVEN 26th September 2012 08:14 AM

Tour DVD, new single, ayu trance 5, photobook, new album. that's it.

happiholic★ 26th September 2012 08:31 AM

I'm getting my heart set in this mini album series idea. I don't want my hopes and dreams crushed. I want new music, not a book. Unless she releases a novel, like Miliyah Kato.

Pieces_of_SEVEN 26th September 2012 08:34 AM

I think we'll probably get a new album's worth of new songs throughout these five releases. :)

saigodansu 26th September 2012 08:36 AM

I'd say the 5 are
LOVE on Nov 8th, Calendar Dec 8th, followed by 1 more single (from henceforth known as the mini album by Avex) & 2 more volumes of the Lifestyle Book.

Basically everything that was going to be released anyway but with their new advertising campaign and statement about not caring about sales(LOL) attached to it.

BTW, when Avex or Ayu while she's with Avex doesn't care about sales, you can go down to mainstreet in any town in any country and check out the flying pigs.

Pieces_of_SEVEN 26th September 2012 08:40 AM

I just won't accept it if one of these releases isn't a new trance album. LOL

I think its pretty obvious that is exactly what will happen. :) These will all be put on an album later with a coupld of new tracks, no doubt about it. I'm looking forward to the new material, but I will wait for the final album to come out to actually buy anything.

Pieces_of_SEVEN 26th September 2012 08:53 AM

I would most likely get these second had or overseas version, money is really too tight for me!

tokyoxjapanxfan 26th September 2012 09:23 AM

Personally I feel like in this situation, it would be all music related...

The article mentioned other acts who did consecutive releases, and it was all music.

It really wouldn't make news if she was releasing photo books and stuff...

Plus, the Oricon article says we should expect more surprises, which could be the calendar, lifestyle stuff, etc.

I do think those things may come out IN ADDITION to other CDs...

Like on 01/08 we could get AT12 and on 11/08 we'd also get the calendar?

There's a lot of possibilities, I suppose.

I'm not too sure about 'releasing the songs again' on another release. Did that happen with Memorial address or FIVE? If these were singles like MOON/crossroad/L... maybe.

But the most I am expecting is a box set + bonus DVD/BD, and the worst case scenario is the "15" album.

Onton 26th September 2012 09:57 AM

Is it possible it will be something like Koda kumi 12 consecutive singles before?
5 minialbum in a row then follow with a album (A best 3?) with all the tracks.

AyuWorld 26th September 2012 10:29 AM

and i wonder normally Ayu will be all happy and excited about her announcements and new songs, but now she didnt really say anything on twitter ,she tweeted bout anything else, just wondering ,,,it's just not so Ayu xD

is it really going to be 5 mini albums til march next year??

truehappiness 26th September 2012 10:32 AM

We don't know.

WE DO KNOW it will be 5 releases. One of which is a mini album (LOVE) but the others could be singles, DVDs, albums... no one knows.

It's seems that someone close to Ayu died (she tweeted R.I.P), so I don't think she was in the mood to be happy for a release.

Tony G 26th September 2012 02:50 PM

Answer to expensive complaint = overseas versions. very cheap compared to Japanese CD prices.

Also, I don't see her releasing a compilation of the songs at the end of the 5 months - they are supposed to be a "thank you" to the fans, not a "let me take your money and release the new material on an album at the end." I see that alienating her entire fan base and it doesn't seem to be the reason behind these consecutive releases. Much like how "Mirrorcle World" was never included on an album - it was a 10th anniversary release and stayed exclusive to that event. The same thing will happen here.

Another bad article it seem ... someone can translate because google translate fails a little ! thanks in advance =)

tokyoxjapanxfan 26th September 2012 03:24 PM

^ I think it's saying that Avex has to do this release for Ayu, because she's their biggest artist ever, even if the sales aren't favorable. And it's unfortunate that Avex has to do such an event when it won't bring them in a whole lot of profit.

It uses the word 赤字/akaji which means deficit loss? So Ayu will cause Avex a deficit loss, but because of what Ayu has done for Avex all these years, they have to give her this?

It's kind of a "poor Avex" article, I THINK. That's what I got out of it, at least.

ayumisrael 26th September 2012 05:51 PM

Well, FIVE looked a lot like a single too just without the remixes and instrumentals, so go figure :P

It does make sense that all the songs would be put on a later original album but "mini albums" would lose their meaning.

They might release A BEST 3 with 2 CDs or something at the anniversary date XD

I dont think they are...
the only difference between this release and FIVE is two full songs.

I think she is calling it a mini because she doesnt plan to put it on her next album.

As for the other suggestions... I like the idea of a box set... and they may even do an album with 15 (for the mini's) but I dont see that happening if they do a box set...

I'm hoping for this mini to kick off the series, and then we get singles for a new album packaged with A Best 3!

ayumisrael 26th September 2012 05:58 PM

Or that all the mini albums songs will be a part of A BEST 3 which would make sense but then it wouldn't be so bad as releasing it all on 1 original album because best albums always have already released songs.

Hope the December release is something awesome so I can get it as a birthday present for myself.

Somehow, I don't think they really care how much new content is on the disc. We'll see when everything is released (and if they're even all new songs) but if they decide to call it a mini-album, judging from the past releases that were minis, we should expect it to be standalone.

TeamAyu2004 26th September 2012 07:55 PM

^ yep. I think thats why they are calling it a mini...
not to mention how long it is running for...

title156 26th September 2012 07:58 PM

I want ayu to make this for 15th anniversary celebration. All 50 singles in cardsleeves put together in one box plus special bonus CD.

TeamAyu2004 26th September 2012 08:09 PM

^ I would totally buy that!!

Do it with the albums too!!

ExodusUK 26th September 2012 08:11 PM

Again the length and amount of track doesn't matter. Oricon argued about it because Ayu was the first to have a AAAA maxi and they were adjusting from the mini-CD single format to the full length CDs we have now, so their rules were outdated and were then changed as we can see from all the singles Ayu continued to release afterwards with 10-13 tracks. I don't understand why people think it's a mini album because it has soo many tracks..did you forget about 1999-2002? Not just A but the & single had four new songs also!

TeamAyu2004 26th September 2012 08:50 PM

^ and the same thing can be said about some of us not understand why you cant see its a mini...

these are different times...

b-sides are different for the & singles.
It has to do with the length of an album. It's a mini because its so long.

the main point I see people saying is that it has instrumental and thats what makes it a single... sorry, but it dont.

Its. A. Mini. Album.
Mainly because that's what they are calling it.

I agree. :yes Mini albums do not have a set definition. If the company/artist releasing the product says it is a mini album, then it is a mini album.

truehappiness 26th September 2012 09:26 PM

I wonder if EXILE fans have trouble with FANTASY since it was essentially larger than most mini-albums with 8 A-sides... though they probably just call it a single since that's what EXILE advertised it as.

LOL! I'd clip out the news article from the paper and magnet it proudly to my fridge.

Yeah IT IS a mini-album because that's what they're releasing it as.

I don't understand what you mean? What does the length have to do with it? mini = long? I don't know why you think singles can't be over 25 minutes long because that simply isn't the case. Nearly half of Ayu's singles are over 25 minutes in total length.
They could release this as a single but they're simply not doing so, they're calling and selling it as a mini-album. No one is arguing that.

TeamAyu2004 26th September 2012 09:39 PM

^ i already gave you the link for all of the terminology and why it is the way it is...
you clearly didnt read it.

And frankly people are arguing the fact that they could sell it as a single but instead are selling it as a mini is because:
1. Ayumi/avex/who ever doesn't want to ruin Ayumi's streak (bull)
2. so avex can charge more. (Bull. They charge for how much material you are getting. And the fact is, we are getting more then the mini FIVE and it's cheaper)

I would assume they just called it a single... because that is what it was advertised as... but I think to oricon it was an album? not even a mini... lol

The article mentioned other acts who did consecutive releases, and it was all music.

It really wouldn't make news if she was releasing photo books and stuff...

Plus, the Oricon article says we should expect more surprises, which could be the calendar, lifestyle stuff, etc.

In relation to this, I wonder if they only mentioned artists who did consecutive music releases because this sort of thing has never really been done before?

Are there artists out there that have done such continuous release projects and they weren't all CDs?
