I love the new song. So classic Utada. :) I've really missed her.

I don't think it's one of her better composed songs, but I think it's beautiful, and I really appreciate the composition and the tone it gives to the song.

And these songs are so, me. The piano only in the beginning. Then the build up.

Hell, the whole thing could have been only piano and I would have loved it lol Cause I love me some piano ballads.

I also missed her voice.

That was the best surprise of the month for sure! I love the song, the lyrics are so sweet, I see a bit of her heart in this :heart Love it, mainly the second half of it, it gives me chills

The song is really pretty. Though I'm not a big fan of her singing style, maybe I should give her music a chance.

It's definitely a grower. The more I listen the more I love it. I dunno if it will end up in my top hikki list, but right now I just dun care. Even if she makes boku wa kuma Pt. 2, I would still listen anything she throws at me :P.

Am I the only one who thinks that this song is a bit bland? "Can't wait for Christmas" was a perfect piano ballad! (oh god, how I overplayed this song xD) But this is just... boring. And the video also doesn't help to get through the full song. Sometimes lyrics make me appreciate a song more, but after reading the translation this song failed completely for me. The lyrics are just bad - I would take "Dirty Desire" lyrics anytime over those...

The song is too good for us mere human beings. Utada has blessed us.

So I decided to gas myself up and played ‘Sakura Drops’ and imagined what I’d say to her if I met her.

Curiosity really got the better of me so I stood up when the tube was near Belsize (so I could get a better look) and when I looked directly at the woman I was damn near sure it was her.

So I went up to her and said “Excuse me are you Utada Hikaru?” and she had her earphones on so she asked me to repeat what I said and when I did a bashful grin spread across her face and she said, “Yes I am”.

Luckily there was an empty seat next to her so I sat down and shook her hand and started chatting with her. I showed her that I was listening to ‘Sakura Drops’ and she was very shocked at that.

I asked her why she was here and she said she was just visiting a friend and was a bit disappointed with how the weather changed-she’s been here for over a week so far and staying around the Camden area (I won’t say where exactly).

I told her how she was the first Japanese artist I ever heard (apart from Ryu Sakamoto) and she was like “Wow Really?”

She asked ME how I even found out about her and I explained that from loving Chinese music and being on forums (like JPM which I told her about a bit) that people talked about the ‘First Love’ cd and her song for Kingdom Hearts-LOL that part of the conversation made me laugh because there I was, listing Hikki’s discography to her as if she didn’t know her own music-I’m so lame.

I told her that I went to the show in Islington (if you never went you missed a great show!) and she thanked me for that and I asked her if she’s ever going to do another one. She said it’s all up in the air and that she was on a break (I told her how pressed everyone got when she did that and she laughed!). But she said that she’s currently working on a few projects that she couldn’t really talk about but new stuff is coming soon!

I did ask for a photo but she said she’s not really taking photos right now-and I could see that she felt bad for having to say that, but I was like “No that’s fine, it’s just great to finally meet you!”

After her stop came up (YES I missed my stop just to keep talking to her LOL) we got off together and walked and talked till I realised I was going to be late for my meeting so I thanked her for the music and she said it was nice to meet me and shook my hand again and went off on her way!

She is TINY under 5 foot and she was wearing pink converse and animal print skinny jeans and she still rocks the short bowl cut from way back when!
She looks EXACTLY like the photos and she hasn’t aged at all.
All in all was a GREAT night! If you’re in London and you see a woman that looks like Hikki, don’t chance it, go up to her and say hi!

I know she has no plans to leave her hiatus, but I wonder if she'll do any promotion for Sakura Nagashi. Would love to see a live performance of it.

I don't think she has a contract with Gainax. In Sakura Nagashi's official website it's said that the staff of the new Eva movie begged Hikki to make a new song and that she did it because she's a fan os the franchise. I don't think she would let her staff state that they begged if it wasn't true :)

I wasn't expecting a lot after the comments. Some people were saying she has had better, it wasn't her best composition, boring, etc...

The OMGAWD commentes I expected were coming from sheer excitement rather than feelings regarding the actual product. But, I feel like the song is stunning.

I like the entire thing but I actually think I prefer the calmness of everything before the drums. It's so soothing - I think the composition on the piano work is just mind-blowingly beautiful.

I actually really really love the calm part as well. I thought it was going to be all like that, and I was going to love it just like that. But then it just so gradually added.

I love songs that build like that. A certain someone used to have songs like that :bsigh

Surprising news because I was just talking to a friend last night about how Hikki has disappeared from the scene and then I find this the next morning lol.

Her voice is such a trademark that I feel nostalgic just from listening to it. Beautiful song.

I listened to the new song and I really love it. It's quickly becoming one of my favourite Japanese songs released this year (which, there weren't many of, really).

Exactly, just a nice small performance would be amazing.

I suppose I'm speaking blasphemy here. And typically I don't have much negative to say about her Deep River to present music

But I'm not really feeling this song but I'm not really disappointed cuz it's been a while anyway and she's produced enough perfect music. I think the arrangement is pretty good and very beautiful. But parts of the composition, really just the "everybody finds love" parts aren't really nice to me. I guess it's a good song, but idk if I'll ever actively listen to it again besides giving it a second and third chance lol

Yeah the songs on SINGLE COLLECTION VOL. 2 took a while for me to like. I loved this song instantly.

It's like when i heard this, it was so bittersweet cause as excited and happy I was to hear a new song, I finally realized that I might not be able to hear another Utada song for a very long time :'(

I'm surprised people don't like this song because half her fanbase is always complaining the chick never releases ballads, and now that she released one, they want something else.

This song is gorgeous and simplistic in a good way. Sort of reminds me of a mashup of Kairo and Show Me Love.

I think it's the best song released worldwide since ***** has been on hiatus, just saying.

@Pieces: lol, I don't quite care for Sweet Scar (something rare for me with ayu's music) or Sakura Nagashi (something rare for me with Hikki's music). Idk why both groups of fans are obsessing over these songs lol.

But it's true, its sooo great that she's releasing something even if I don't care for it. It's been too long. And her voice really is always as lovely as ever, I think that's one of the best parts. I do want more though. Just need a new album and I'll be good lol
