I just think it's a bit soon to say that she's blacklisted when we've had way less lives this year than perhaps any year ever in her career. From 2009 onward it was like she was showing up on TV less and less as the years went on but things are looking up with the appearances this month. For example, she appeared on ONLY MUSIC STATION in 2011 (Life performance, ANother song/Why..., then she was supposed to be on there for beloved) and then there was Kouhaku. That was it. This year, it took until August for her to show up on TV on an FNS special and since then we're only now getting HEY!HEY!HEY, FNS, and Kouhaku for December.

I for one wouldnt want to go to a show that condemns their partakers when something happens and they cant show up. I understand that its a live show, but there is something called an alternate and stuff happens all the time, they should be used to this or at least have it under the, ah crap something happened file.

I'm sorry, but that just shows a fundamental lack of understanding of Japanese culture. It may not make sense to us, but it does make sense in Japan. I personally don't agree with it at all. I would love for all this to be false because I love ayu on music station and especially at the super live. But like maikeru, I'm almost certain she is banned. I hope I'm wrong though or that the problem gets solved.

Most frustrating thing for me actually is Mika's tweet because I just can't get my head around the thought process of posting that. It's lol worthy in its stupidity for me. :)

However, like I said before, Music Station is the biggest music program in Japan. There is absolutely no reason for her to not attend MSSL, one of the biggest and most popular year end Music shows, besides Kohaku. Best Artist, FNS, yes, they are popular, but MSSL is one of the most popular, because of their very large array of artists coming on. Also, like you said, in 2011 Music Station was the only music program she appeared on before the incident. That's the telltale sign something happened, and something's wrong.

The biggest proof that she has been banned, like I said before, was the flowers at the tour ending. Those flowers are always sent, there is absolutely no mistaking not to be sent. If there are no flowers from a particular party that were there before, then it's almost 100% safe to say that the relationship between the two parties are very bad. Those flowers symbolize the wellwishes and congratulations of the entire Music Station team, and in Japan it's a representation of good relationship. And the flowers were there during CDL 2009 - 2010 for sure. I took the picture myself.

And Tamori and his team is infamous for blacklisting people from the program. You may remember for the longest time that there were no other boy bands allowed on Music Station except for Johnny's.

You guys, the Japanese entertainment business is so complex... it gives me a headache LOL

and @maikaru you are forgetting one major detail. Maybe she just doesnt have the time? She is bound to be doing a ton of stuff for these releases and she had to pick which shows she wanted to be on for her time frame. the music station show might just not fit in.

Honestly, the reason music station even started was probably as a promotional tool for Johnny's acts; in particular hikaru genji. As a result other boy bands from other companies did not perform there for a long time. Now though, by and large the johnies network has become ntv.

Point is, the Japanese entertainment industry is shady as hell. :)

She has been living in Japan for many, many years, and she knows what's she's talking about. You're completely ignoring the facts that both her and I are telling you. If you studied Japanese culture, you know what she's saying is right. It's all about the keeping the peace and keeping the culture, and if someone does something to disturb the natural order, they are thrown out of that ones world.

This is kind of childish. Lady Gaga still needs to go on music programs to sell music. Ayu is no different. We in the public has no idea what Ayu is doing right now if you don't follow her so closely. She doesn't advertise, she doesn't go on the music programs much anymore. If you ask anyone who isn't an Ayu fan, they couldn't recall the last song she had since Days. Simply put, Music Station is the biggest platform for any artist to get their music out for people to recognize them. Do we recall how the situation was for CDL11-12? That was directly after this entire thing started so if they stopped sending flowers to her then, it may be even likelier to be true but at the moment, I'm waiting until 2013 until I say she's totally blacklisted or whatever.

The simple fact is that you have no proof that she has been banned. Not showing up on MSSB is not proof. It's speculation/rumors, just like ayumi being a lesbian or the rumors that she broke up a marriage between Maro and his wife.

@truehappiness I do believe there is a picture floating around with a table of flowers and a card thats shes one of them is from MusicStation... I don't know if that was from CDL or if it was from Power of Music however.

There's simply no reason to try to talk to you since all you come back with is "I don't agree." "It's all rumour and speculations" "I don't like it." At least truehappiness comes back with solid evidence to try to disprove the banning theory.

If an artist is blacklisted from a program, would any reference to them get edited out? Because she was brought up once or twice during sales record updates and also during some of those "BIRTH YEAR SONGS" segments, I believe.

You are right, im not there right now so i cant know whats going on at that level of things, but going by a cultural view point it would be more along the lines of her being banned if she wasnt on any show mainly because of the harmony kind of thing.
If anything, her going to other music shows makes MS look back because they havn't 'invited' her. Where as if Ayumi didn't have the time and her not being able to attend is a different matter altogether.

I think we'll never get any proof, i think we need something like a tweet or a message from ayu or MS, and we'll never going to get that IMO.

I still think there's a chance Ayu apologized by voluntarily not showing up anymore, in a way to punish herself, knowing that MS is one of the most popular music programs.

Normally I wouldn't think this, but my old dorm manager here, in a way to apologize to the school and self punish himself for the things that some students in the dorm were doing, shaved his head.

Obviously they're different actions, but similar in the sense that it's self punishing yourself.

But, who knows. If she was blacklisted, she kind of deserved it from the standpoint of the show. It's her job, she failed to make it back in time and didn't book plane tickets. I mean, she -knew- she had to be back in Japan at a certain time, why would her staff not have booked round trip tickets? Also, she doesn't need her entire staff with her. She needs what, her and a few body guards? She could have had body guards hired and waiting for her in Japan even. It's not like her band was with her. The entire situation was really strange.

^ of course there is a difference between now and then. Also she has never really done something like this before.
5 releases in 5 months, the lives, CDL, traveling all around the world for who knows what.

If Arashi, Akb etc can find the time for music station, Ayu can too no matter what. :)

On the opposite end of things, I'm happy to see that larc will be on mssl even though they have nothing really to promote. I think this is maybe the third year now that they've done that. It's kind of rare for tv performances in this industry to perform just for the sake of performing.

Edit: Scratch that, turns out L'arc has a concert DVD coming out the next week, haha.

Well, I know it only sounds like two mistakes, but in the 20 year plus history of music station, there are only 3 times that I am aware of that someone has missed a performance and two of them were Ayumi. The other one was Tatu which was just hilarious. They were there for the shows opening and then up and left right in the middle of the show before they performed.

There may have been others, but I just don't recall, so if anyone else knows, please feel free to chime in.

^ As far as I know, no concrete reason was ever given. Maybe they weren't aware that the format of the show is you have to sit and watch all the other artists and got bored and left? lol.

Luckily there was an actual band performing on Mstay that week (I think thee michelle gun elephant?) so they, literally, filled in at the last minute and played a second song.

I know that at the end of the year FNS and kouhaku are the most popular music programs so I wonder if tv promo will be of any help in the future without MS (not at the end of the year)?

1 was already serious enough and she did it twice... wasn't 1 of the performance a theme / big event too?
It will cost the producer a lot of trouble to replace the timing as they try to drag the runtime. It wasn't as easy as you think it is...

Just saw the performance on HEY!X3 and it was really nice! She sang song 4 u, with all the dancers, and with a nice chess board on the floor :luv2

I've just watched the performance too. Well, it was OK. I liked that she used girl dancers too! But, I didn't like her outfit and her fridge which closed the half of her face :laugh

Also, there was no talk segment, she didn't even comment anything. Because ELT also had no talk segment, but they made some comments... Also, I loved that they've performed Time goes by. It used to be my fav song by ELT, but I've totally forgotten it!!!!!! It was nice to remember.

Ah well, at least I saw ayu on tv :) Now waiting for FNS!!!

Sorry I've a problem ! Since several weeks my Keyhole TV doesn't show the popular japanese channels like NHK, Fuji TV, TV asahi, Nihon tv etc... anyone has this problem ? How do you do for watching japanese channels ?

oops I went and did laundry haha! hmm guess I'll have to wait till it pops up on here. But since it's Song 4 u I'm not in too big a hurry.

The Hey Hey Hey performance was HORRIBLE! Her voice didn't go with the music AT ALL! It's like she was forcing her voice out

gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!! i think she had quite some control especially with the ending words. though there were parts which sounded shaky?
i love her hair actually hahaha so great to see her performing on tv again!! :D
and i honestly thought the yeah yeahs were gonna be bad but they werent!

A-nation 2012 performance was horrible, comparing to that this one is very decent to my mind :-) She got a little bit out of tune during second verse and second refrain, etc, but overall she coped well :-)

I'm positively surprised at the vocals. "Song 4 u" is the kind of track that sounds easy, but when you try to sing it you realize the many challenges it poses to vocal dynamics and range. And vocals always sound much, much worse in low quality recordings, so when the .ts is out she will probably sound wonderfully clear except for 2-3 off notes.

Vocals weren't that bad, it was smart that they put Shu-ya as the main dancer next to Ayu than Maro with all the BS going on.

I dont really care about her personal life...i just want her to make great music :)

I thought because Ayu's popular this would pop out of JPopsuki almost immediately, but I checked this morning that it hasn't appeared yet!!!

I'm not sure what's going on with terahata of JPS - does he/she live in Japan? If so, maybe he/she's cautious about data usage and copyrights there...

None of the performances from today's show are on jpopsuki yet, I'm starting to get impatient xD Usually Hey!x3 is up the day of broadcast or the day after though, even after the new download laws ;)

well for me I like yinyeutai and they upload so quick for every music shows since I don't do torrents and the quality is nice too

the live was okay imo, I thought the dance didn't really fit plus them flailing at the end was lol, but the vocals were nice and I like her outfit

for me 7/10

God she is so pretty.. I don't get it. I want to know her secrets, especially how she stays so slim nowadays. Her hairstyle and dress are so pretty :heart But the whole live made me think she was performing a summer track or something.. not too fitting for the song. Don't like the vocals but it could be worse I guess lol. This may sound rude but sometimes I wish she would just lipsync. I really wouldn't mind it, she has a good reason to.

She probably needs to not use the dancers too much, since at this point they're recycling the You & Me choreography that they took from fairyland's lives in 2005.

As far as I'm concerned vocals can't get worse enough to justify the embarrassment that usually comes along with the use of a playback.

It always reminds me of an old TV show, in which toddlers pretended to be pop stars, while dancing and moving their lips to a full-playback xD

It may be adequate for children but the thought of a grown up woman imitating herself makes me want to open another bottle of wine :msick

AKB48 and Jhonny's lypsinc a LOT (90% of the times, excpeting few Jhonny's groups) and no one complains. That is fine for manufactured pop machines with no artistic visions. For ayu, who puts her soul and spirit into her music, lypsinc is not an option. I admire her because she is a warrior and never gives up (even if her health condition might make lypsinc a better option)

My goodness it is SO. GOOD. to see Ayu on tv again!! I think she did a pretty good job. Not spectacular, but pretty good!

I really liked the performance, it's nice to see her doing lives again. Her voice didn't sound as good/clear in some parts, but it may just have been the quality of the clip. For the past releases her voice has been sounding much deeper and slightly raspy, don't know if that's just me though. I don't see it as bad though, just different.
