Seems that on TeamAyu, they have posted that a new original album is coming out and all of the songs are new (so nothing from LOVE or again? If they were going to be on this I think they'd be mentioned) and it'll have five versions.

I wonder if they took down the information early again like for LOVE?

First presses will include the serial number card for access to a special site when all five releases are out. Details are unknown.

Something tells me that none of the new songs will get PVs though. Do they usually say "bonus DVD" when it's a PV DVD? Looking back on other releases it also says bonus so hm.... I guess we'll see!

A screenshot from TeamAyu indicates that the DVD will have 14 clips on it and that the album will have 15 tracks. That's one more track than CDJapan announced.

It should be all new tracks. Usually if an album has previous releases on it, it'd mention them. Also since those were mini albums, it's unlikely they'd be on this. It'd be like putting anything on FIVE on Party Queen.

I remember that a big part of the reason that Party Queen was such a letdown was because it was her first full studio album with ALL ORIGINAL MATERIAL! The possibilities were endless! I thought "wow, if I aim for 3-4 great new songs an other albums, I just might like 8 of the 14 songs on this album!" and... then it turned out to not be so amazing, lol.

I will not get my hopes up, but I hope it's good. This could be a game-changer.

Mod edit: I do agree but with those mini-albums they started throwing on instrumentals and remixes - which generally are not a part of mini-albums. Ayu doesn't stick to the "rules" anymore, lol.

Although it's not a common practice, it's not unusual for an artist to release a mini-album and then put the majority of the songs from it on a full album (2NE1 (Japanese release) and OLIVIA have done it). As Zeke said, she hasn't been following her usual formula lately (no physical singles released prior to "Party Queen" and releasing mini-albums in single format) so there's no telling what she'll do with the little information we have. While some feel that she would have included information with this announcement that the songs would be on the album, it wouldn't make much sense for her to do so as she is currently promoting "again" since it is her latest release that's out right now. No one would buy it if people knew that the songs would end up on her full album right now so it would be smart on their end not to announce the songs this early. Although I'm not saying that the songs will definitely be on the album, it's not completely out of the realm of possibility. I would prefer it as I have not purchased "LOVE" and "again" just in case she pulled this stunt but the possibility that all the songs could be brand new is just as likely so I'll patiently be awaiting the release of the tracklisting information before I make a decision to buy the mini-albums.

Korean 'minis' are more like singles. If you look at most things called mini-albums in the J-pop industry, they usually don't end up on other releases.

But like I said, she also has never not released physical singles before an album like "Party Queen" and she also hasn't released mini-albums formatted like singles either like "LOVE" and "again". That's the point I was making. She's done things recently that she's never done before so it's been pretty hard to determine what she'll do if she's changed her formula recently from what she's done for the majority of her career.

I was referring to 2NE1's Japanese mini album as an example (which is why I put Japanese in parenthesis next to it). All of the songs on their Japanese mini album with the exception of one song ended up on their full Japanese album. OLIVIA is Japanese and the majority of the songs on her series of mini-albums ended up on her album.

As I said, although there's a possibility they won't end up on the album (she stated before that she had enough songs that she made during the "Party Queen" era for a second album so she has the material to make this a completely original album), it's not completely out of the realm of possibility. As much as I would prefer not to have to buy "LOVE" or "again", having an album with all brand new songs is even better. My wallet would be screaming in agony but it would be better in the end, especially for those who purchased "LOVE" and "again".

Well, with the competition (like four best albums or so) I don't think they thought they were getting #1 anyway.

Where they were released doesn't really matter. I wouldn't expect their management to really follow 'standard Japanese practices' anyway.

Probably 7 PVs and 7 making ofs? If it's going as people think it is going, it'll be all of the PVs from the minis (Song 4 u, Missing, Wake me up, snowy kiss, Sweet scar + two other PVs and making ofs)

However, what about the Blu-ray? If this really is going to have the mini album material on it, why would it be in a different quality than the earlier releases?

IF it's all new material... how the hell can Ayu create all of this output in such a short amount of time? If the album is at least 10 new tracks (3-4 interludes), that would be 17 NEW SONGS released in 4 months. Insane.

And if that's the case, I kinda worry about the quality of these songs. Her rush-release albums tend to be really inconsistent.

They've never released the majority of their songs from their Korean mini albums on their full Korean album release so it's not a 'standard Korean practice' for them either. They also don't release repackages like many Korean artists do either. Like you said, where they release doesn't really matter but any artist/label can change the formula of how they release at any time.

I think the greatest piece of evidence/support towards fourteen new tracks would be A CLASSICAL. I mean, she didn't even shoot a new cover for it, and I assume she'd just listen to the orchestrated tracks and give them the green light?

Which means, she's essentially had two months to prepare for this release.
Actually, probably even more; she's probably already recorded some of them during the LOVE and again recording sessions...
So, it's entirely possible that AHS will avoid another meltdown and we will receive the entire fourteen new. :O
