Today (whilst I'm cleaning), I decided to add a few extras to LOVE again (and by a few I mean a lot hehe).

Seems like it's a good mixture. Of course there's other songs that could have suited, but I chose what I thought was most similar to the tracks presented. I'm surprised by how many I am... tracks suit this album. :D |

^ I think it's really similar with it's cohesiveness. I think where LOVE again really 'loses' to I am... and Duty is that the songs (if listened to individually) just aren't as great. Those two albums sound great whether you listened to all the songs together, or whether you just listen to them individually. :D

^Secret (the song) and GUILTY were pretty depressing...but pretty tame compared to before. I agree, she should make more depressing songs.

I also remember the NEXT LEVEL bashing. Hell, I still don't like that album. Not as much as what some people do though! I think people were a bit unimpressed with Secret and GUILTY, and NEXT LEVEL was kind of the last straw...
Or at least that's the impression I received. :shrug No other release had that reception after NEXT LEVEL. I'm not sure if it was because fans felt that Ayu had lifted her game with RnR/Love songs/FIVE/Party Queen/LOVE again, or that they had expected a decline in her music quality one day. I'm so glad that Ayu has seemingly come out of that relentless variance period (2008 - 2011), and gone with cohesiveness for LOVE again. |
It saddens me how everyone despises ballads and look down at them :( What's wrong with an album full of ballads? Most artists nowadays release albums full of upbeat songs and no one complains.

Guilty, next level and Love songs are some of my favourite albums. I can't really remember that next level was hated on AHS. It had days, talkin' to myself, rule and sparkle as singles, and all those songs were appreciated...

The singles we nice, but I just didnt like the album as a whole. but I had really been disappointed in her albums since Secret... so that was kinda the last straw... I stopped preordering her singles (for rock n roll through love songs), but I still bought rock n roll. Love songs brought me back into the fandom... I love the shiz out of that album... lol |
Love Songs is my favorite. I was fearing a smooshy ballade album, but oh my God so many epic songs. Last Angel, Sending Mail, Like A doll, Do it again, Novemeber, Virgin Road, insomnia, Love song, MOON..

Also Avex needs to rerelease Ayu's old DVDs like they did with Namie. I want both 2000 concert DVDs but they're out of print now.

I dont know what it was, maybe the 8bit sounds or the cornyness of some of it. I was totally over ballads at the time and that cover was HORRIBLE... it made party queen look epic. lol |

My problem with NEXT LEVEL is that Ayu got it right with the visuals but she didn't follow through with the music, she provided all the necessary "Ayu staples" that fans expect, I wish she would have been brave enough to go all the way with it but I guess it was just another issue of working on singles and then the album tracks follow and they don't necessary always work together. And songs like Energize, Identity and Love 'n' Hate are badly produced, they sound like Ayu songs arranged into a more "electro" style when she really should have been taking/making electro songs and then putting an Ayu twist on them if that makes sense.

And then, well, personally, I wasn't happy with the tour either. I feel like she could have had big, epic performances for some of the songs that helped turn them into something great, but instead, she decided to act like a drugged up electro cheerleader the whole time. Was just out of place for me. |
^ agree with emi about AT09, so far after collecting her lives since AT05 I skipped AT09 because I dislike her in that tour. Most of her costumes are weird, her vocal is not as good, and the way she presents NL into a tour is just bad compared to how she visualized the previous albums. I dreamed of having a much epic performance of NEXT LEVEL instead we had a flying chair, good but it's a downgrade from a magic show, silver huge crucifix or a pirate ship.
The only thing I hate about NL is the cover which is just idk awful? I love the whole colorful concept thing, reminds me of Kylie Minogue's In My Arms MV but Ayu's choice of costume, pose, and things for the photoshoot just turns me off. PQ covers is bad as well especially when she shows her bum, for me that kind of image doesn't really suits her. |

^^What I don't like from the tour is her costumes aside from the tone down props. I always looking forward to see her costumes and AT09's are just meh :p and it also weird for me to have HOPE or PAIN transits to GREEN, it's just doesn't make sense, she forced it out imo then Days. GREEN is kinda stand alone in the set list.
^Probably, that's maybe why she bounced back in AT10. I just hope that AT12 wasn't really over the top she could spend more on this year's tour :yes |

You know what woulda been funny? If someone had created an AYU VALENTINE'S CARD thread. And posted funny valentine's regarding her personal relationships, and puns on them as well as her songs, and her troupe. I would die, lol.
All "A"s in "HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY" could be substituted with Ayu's logo. If nobody does it today, then I think it'd make a great AHS graphics contest for next year. |
I really would like Ayu to release something I desire. Really want.
With an over-the-top photoshoot, and a few exclusives, whether they be revised versions of songs or just extras on a DVD. And maybe just a few TV appearances, and even one or two magazines. Nothing huge. What she's been doing, just brought up a notch. I haven't felt this way since A COMPLETE. xD |
