What do you imagine? Do you think, it is easy, to change the setlist so far? There is so much work behind this setlist and the performances. Sure, i would find it nice and necessary too, but it is very unlikely.

I'm OK with the setlist, I only wish that kanariya and ever free will be included on any date, and not on the encore, I don't use to like the encore part, mostly because her horrible outfits xD

I hope she wont include Humming 7/4, bc that song is just annoying to me. And I'm quite ok with the setlist now, but it is really boring, she already performed that song thousand times. I would be satisfied if her vocal was strong and powerful in those songs, and the performance was amazing. but so far, it is boring. and man she needs to change the costumes for encore, it always look so freaking plain, except for wake up cdl

Ha! meaning of Love got voted? I didn't notice this :D I don't get it. I think it's such a half-assed filler ballad. Probably it was voted in because people want to see her perform the song live (but hasn't she already performed this in the earlier leg[s] of the Rock 'n' Roll Circus Tour?)

^No, as many people had said in threads before meaning of Love was chosen probably because of its popularity among Japanese. The song went #1 download for chaku-uta when RnRC was released if I'm not mistaken. And that's the reason an acoustic version of the song is included in MOON single

^^ I was asking the question. past 2-3 years she's been extending her tours. and usually in spring we get only 2/3 of the dates and then they suddenly announce the second part of the tour which usually has place in autumn. |

I don't understand for a BEST LIVE, there's not a lot of work put in at all.. I hope the real concert is better, and hope she will pull an epic finale, but that's likely impossible. im tired of those dress she has lately (a-nation dresses) , it's not even pretty

21 songs (compared to namie who usually has 25-30 songs), No M.C, a couple of interludes while she changes costumes, i expected more songs from A Song for XX/LOVEppears/Duty/I am.../RAINBOW/LOVE again and the 50 fan chosen songs..so far it feels underwhelming

They always talk like it will be bigger and better, but incase you haven't noticed after 15 years, it's still the same. With her being back in a leg brace and seeing Misa Chan's translation of the recent TA Blog entry, it sounds possible it will end in July. There were not that many tweets from different users using the #ABESTLIVE hashtag for other cities, and for any kind of world tour to be scheduled, support would have to be much higher. Otherwise they would rent a venue and there would not be enough ticket sales to support it. She's at the point of having been singing for 50 years and willing to perform at just a club with 300 seats.

I was at Rock N Roll Circus and the 7 Days Special and it was no more grand than the things I'd already seen on previous tours DVDs. It was actually less of what I wanted to see if anything considering the whole Gomi drag queen bit and the freaking clowns. If she wants a bigger and better show, she needs herself as the focus of the concert, remove the dancers, remove the drag queen which is now Timmy and Miccie coming on stage dressed very strange instead of a dancer, remove male backing vocals or backing vocals all together, since she sounds better without them and for the sake of everyone on earth REMOVE THE FREAKING CLOWNS ACROBAT TEAM.

Stadium Tour had the best balance. Now it's more like a drag circus than a live show.

She really needs to hire new people, new stage designer, new costume designer, new makeup personel, new hair stylist, new dancers, new musicians... I want her to replace the whole team to be honest, but unfortunately, the chance of this happening is nil... :shakehead |

The choreography changed A LOT since AT12, but people were way too busy complaining to notice. About the stage, I don't think people over here has much idea of how much is costs to produce a whole new one for every tour.
Even global stars use parts of stage used before by other artists. |
i personally never had a problem with her stagewhy is everyone so obsessed with that really? as Andrenekoi said those things cost a LOT of money to make, i am sure even more expencive if u want something specific. i'm not sure what people are excpecting with stage sets...*shrugs* Also she has veteran musicians in her team if i were her, i would no way let them all go. Also concidering the fact that they became a family to her. As for choreography i never had a problem with that too... all the dancers were doing a great job in my eyes. The only thing i always have a problem is her and dancers costumes. I mean lok at POM the concept of the whole thing was so simple, no pompastic props or tricks, everything was supper simple, but i think costumes were what made it half of them were not fr my taste but they worked brilliantly with everything else, she was shinning instead of the stage or props overwhelming her.

It's not that I want everything to change, I should've phrased it in more detail. The one thing I can see she changed is her costume and to some extent her stage. She had about 3-5 stage type I think until today, and she mainly use the usual single catwalk and round stage end thing. I was wondering if she could change it into two catwalks instead with the same end like MDNA's or have anothe AT04 thing with 3 catwalks. As for her main stage, no complains in particular. Costume...as I said earlier she could've done better than what we see so far, PoM finale is much better but maybe we should wait until final show of the tour to finally conclude her costume.
Dancers, Choreographer, Band Members...nah she even didn't have to change Peco imo, adding Timmy was weird I guess nonetheless maybe she thinks it's better to have male voice in the background too. |
If there is a thing of her I really can't complain about is the tours. Every year the costumes are amazing, and her creativity is shown in little, beautiful details. In the last three years we had three of the best tours ever, imo (R'n'R Circus 7 Days, PoM and HLS). I think they are so amazing because they rely almost completely on Ayu and her vision, I guess in the tour she's in charge, and has the chance to speak her current mind through images and concepts (which is, for me, the thing she does best, that's why she's a great lyricist).
I really don't share the compaints about their static, for me they're all very different and specific every time! And I learnt to never dislike from costumes pictures and setlists only, because she proved me wrong too many times!XD The setlist is short, but amazing, and I kinda like all the costumes, so I'm looking forward to see it! <3 |
Usually I'm all for attending the same tour multiple times, but this tour... I'm just not so into it.
So I hope if there is a continuation in the Fall, we get news of it before Yoyogi. In that case I'd just wait until Fall. Otherwise I have to decide if I want to go in July. >_< |

Secondly, Timmy has great vocal :O and about the dancers, I just wish she would have a little more songs that she sings alone, like in HLS, the only song she was singing alone was Missing -__- and in CDL12-13, it's only Together when.
I usually joke that her dancers' costumes cost less than that big giant curtain she has in the show XD It's like their costumes are made out of the remaining fabric of HER costumes XDXD |

the problem is "good music" is well...lt depends on a taste.... i think it's just because people are so much into all that dance stuff the past few years that it's taking over the world of music now. very few appreaciate deeper meaning in music these days, or so it looks for me *shrugs*
i think she might just need a new wind of creativity to freshen up a bit? but then again what might be fresh to me or to someone else might be in no way fresh for anyone else, and francly dance music to me is nothing fresh xD.....i just want more music, badass music lol tho i do agree with the lack of promotion. and i don't understand that at all *shrugs* |

it's really weird that this is happened...her LOVE again album is really a reminisence of her early work. I don't know... if Japanese really want something fresh from her...i think the best way to do it is...she need to discharged all of her team and working with new team...from top to bottom..especially on creative area... |

She should take a year or two for touring, it's no wonder her ticket sales are down, not everyone can justify going to see the same artist every year unless they're a hardcore fan. Her concerts have become like a yearly product..like the latest version of FIFA or Call of Duty, more of the same with a different number/year, etc.

Don't act like she was the only one who made tours every year ! All japanese singers have tours every year ... Her ticket sales are down because she is less popular that's all and normal ? Her last album sold 90 K but She can always attract more than 275 000 people it's not bad but I agree a break of 1 or 2 years can be good for her in order to get fresh ideas

Really interesting and sad what you say, Misa... Ayu needs a change, I guess she expected a lot of non-casual listeners to attend her concerts as it was a BEST, but she had to face the fact that the concert turned out to be boring for her fans (or whatever made low the attendants)

Everything seems to be so tricky right now. I'm sure that it's all due to several factors, starting with the Maro thing (Yes, this ghost just keeps coming back for more, and the fact that he is trying to step on ayu's face and start his own "career" makes things even worse), her vocals not being what they once were, the tired ass vibe that I'm getting from the costumes and the overdone format of the concert are just a few that come to mind.
I hope she realizes that she can't rely on the same or similar costumes, which keep getting worse every year btw, on the same overdone songs aka evolution~SURREAL~evolution, Boys & Girls, Humming 7/4 just to mention a few, and giving the spotlight to her dancers ain't cutting it either (I've been noticing this for quite a while, they are giving way too much spotlight to them and it's wrong. They should be in the background, adding to the show not stealing the show, which is what they've been doing for years and even in the DVDs I've noticed, and that stupid shirt with all the dancers... just no). I guess she needs a fresh start, and by that I mean that she needs to reinvent herself again, like how she did back in the day. She hasn't been reinventing herself properly ever since A BEST 2 was released IMO. |
IMO, Party Queen was quite a new start for Ayu ! It was so different and so good ! Too bad that Japanese fans didn't like it and that Ayu didn't go on this way !

^indeed! i thought she's gonna go rebelling against the industry. But then LOVE again happened. which wasn't bad but it was REALLY soft. Even tho i liked most of teh songs.

Love songs was also very fresh it was the first time she really approached the classical & experimental vibes ^^

Actually i think her music always had a classical wibe mixed in it just wasn't so obvious. Lots of her balads has quite a classical feeling to me. IN LS it's just more obvious, but I dunno i wasn't a fan f Love songs at all and i dn't think i will ever be mainly because of her vocals.
