Applause VS Roar
Applause for me
|
roar

Applause
|
Applause, Roar is a complete snooze fest and i love Katy.
|
Applause
|
Applause for me
i felt like roar was bonus track in teenage dream |
Applause all the way. Roar is so basic.
|
Applause! Roar isn't bad though, just not my kind of thing.
|
Roar.
Applause is a song for dancing that don't make me feel like dancing at all. |
Applause, Roar just doesn't do anything for me
|
Roar, I love how it quietly rocks in its simplicity and the way it grows in the chorus! <3
I appreciated Applause, it's very nice, but for me there's the usual problem that always shows up with Gaga songs: too many expectations, they talked too much about it, and in the end it's nothing earthbreaking. Neither of them are masterpieces though, I think they're pretty much at the same level, quality speaking. |
Roar. But I'm digging both songs. Like others have said, these songs aren't anything groundbreaking but they're still enjoyable! (I'm a fan of both singers.)
|
Applause, like some others I don't think either are that great, but I'd rather hear Applause on the radio.
|
roar for me
|
Applause for me
|
Both terrible. Terr-i-ble.
|
Applause is disgusting.
Lady Gargole, go home! |
Roar because I like cats.
|
Applause. It has that David Bowie vibe! :D
|
Neither offer anything new from their respective artists but at least Roar is relatable and has personality. Lady Gaga is pretentious; she treats this release as if it's life-changing and just the best song ever. It's a fine song but let's not pretend this is something that it isn't. Like marty said, the songs are on the same level in terms of quality.
|
Applause. My opinions on the PR of the songs and the artists themselves aside, it's just the better song to me. Roar is boring and I feel I've heard similar songs before from Katy Perry.
|
Applause because I've never been a fan of Katy Perry's music. :)
|
ROAR. I like this genre more than gaga's but I appreciate her effort in applause. Sorry for my ignorance but why do people compare these two different songs?

I like Applause a bit more.

Both songs are anything special, imo.
Artpop is so hyped, I put all of my hopes on Applause. But it turned out as a generic dance song. Roar have cute lyrics, but it's like picking a random Katy Perry's album track out of her discography for me. Her singles are nice, but album tracks are really boring. So, uhm... I think I'll gonna for Katy Perry, mostly because I agree with this Quote:

They are just on such competition because Gaga released her song 1 week before the official date... She said it happened because she was afraid of hackers, but she most likely did it because she wanted the fight. |
Okay my opinion changed. I'm starting to like Roar more :x
|
Roar. I'm getting tired of Lady Gaga's pretentious art shtick and overall insecurities. I lost it when she released Applause the very next day Katy Perry released her single. She couldn't wait for her moment that would've come eventually anyway. It backfired though, she's now behind Katy Perry and that Blurred Lines dude. She makes it really hard to root for her. She looks really gorgeous though.
/rant |
I listened to them both a few days ago, just one time each. And chorus of Roar is still in my head, while I can't even remember how Applause goes...
However before I vote I suppose I need to re-listen to both of them haha. On the other hand though, who's to say Katy didn't hurry to release her song before Gaga? I feel like Gaga's date was revealed before Katy's... maybe that's not true though. |

Roar. When I first listened to it, I fell for the song and the lyrics are relate-able and fun, I like the small nuances throughout the song and the jungle-pop drum feel.
Applause I thought was weird and not that great at first when I heard it. A grower and it took a while, but I like it now. Its alright. Just another Gaga song (arguably we can say Roar is just another Katy song though). So I pick Roar! |

"Leak"... On this case the "leak" was some random people playing 30s of her song on some random chats, not the whole thing for download on decent quality. It could be hackers, it could be her PR team.
And the overall idea of hushing one week to not losing sales for piracy is just stupid... After piracy became something pretty common, people buying this or that track is people that want to buy this or that track, not people buying it cuz they have no other way of listening it. Officially releasing it won't force anyone who never wanted to buy it to actually buy it. She wanted competition, she got competition... And she is being beaten. |
I think Applause.
Both are good but nothing too special to me. |
I don't like either that much
but I prefer Applause out of the two |
Roar
|
Roar.
|
Applesauce is good -definitely a grower though.
Katy's song sounds basic and recycled. Quote:
Gaga may be obnoxious and pretentious as hell and the song may be lower quality than some of her other stuff, but Katy's song has personality? Its as safe as it gets. IMO, she's a textbook popstar with textbook songs (E.T. was a gem, though. THAT you can say is distinct in her discography) and Roar is more of her standard fare. Let's not pretend its something that it isn't ;) |

^ me too, maybe because it's a dark-tinged song.

I agree, being original or trying new directions don't always equal to having personality or making something that suits you. Doing an example, that's my issue with Rihanna: her songs are mostly very nice, with some real masterpieces here and there, but for me they don't reflect her as a person, no matter how good or ispired or new they are. That said, Gaga did a very nice job with Born This Way album, she really tried something new and coherent, but Applause is safe (especially the chorus), just like Roar is. I already said both songs for me are not great, and pretty much at the same level, but I feel Katy did a better job with a song that suits her image perfectly, Gaga instead has not been up to all the hype she created around this song. Anyway, I don't like Roar more because of all that, but because it's simply more to my taste. |
Applesauce.
Roar is a million other boring songs I've heard already. The only good part is what they did for the "Roar". The rest is just recycled fluff. At least apple is a million other perfectly iconic songs I've heard already. I'm happy it's "safe". Gaga's non-safe BTW music was boring, hard to listen to, and even harder to watch happening. I couldn't sing you a melody from that album if my life depended on it. And I even spammed some of the songs off it. |
Both are kinda meh, nothing new. But I still prefer Roar although I usually just skip it half the track when the radio play it.
|

Its not groundbreaking -I've said that already. You'd just know where it comes from. Now you've made me sound like a little monster *shudder* thanks :P |

I don't think anything from BTW way radio friendly in the least.
|

I do agree that Katy Perry's song could be sang by a slew of other pop artists, but I think that Katy brings something to the song too. |
Sorry for the double post... :P

I'm sure that the applause instrumental would be better than the version with singing...
|
I actually disagree with...some...people or whoever up there. I think if they gave applause to any other artist, people wouldn't hate on it the same way.
They'd just say "oh this is just another edm song." Katy's song is just whatever...but most of her discog is like that anyway. So. I guess they both fit for both people. I don't really care for Gaga's personality or lyrics either, but I'll take them over "you brought me down, but now Im getting up" stolen from like every other song ever created. |
^ I love Roar, but it's basically a compilation of cliche shit. Perfect for that
I love Applesauce. It's fun! People wanted fun Lady Gaga and they got it. |
Who the hell cares. Roar and Applause are both fun songs to listen to.
|
I'm not too big fan of either singer but Applause by far
|
Both are pretty basic, but I have Roar on my iPod, and not Applause. It just sounds like more of the same from Gaga.
|
Roar
|
APPLAUSE, without a doubt
|

I might have to change my mind to applause. LOL
after listening to the songs for months, I think I like applause more. |
