I think it depends; do you want great genre coverage, do you prefer rock over pop, or vice versa?

I think her greatest rock and/or rock influensed albums are I am..., (m)u and R'n'RC.

If pop is more your thing, I think Duty, My Story and PQ would be my picks :)

since the day i created my account here back in 2006, (miss)understood still the most liked album of this forum.

I'd but 'LOVE again' album instead of the 2 mini albums :)

RAINBOW is deffo worth buying, but i'd say they're all worth buying.

I have RAINBOW, Love songs and GUILTY. ...and I've just bought NEXT LEVEL, waiting for it to come in the post :)

I hope one day to own them all, I don't like downloads :)

anything from ASFxx to GUILTY is worth your money. after that.. perhaps Rock'n'Roll Circus & Love Songs. but the rest.. don't buy them if you can't

I will still stand by asfxx and LOVEppears being my two favorites, asfxx being #1 for me.

I am almost getting to the point where the order in which I love her albums is also the chronological order...how strange.

^ these three are like the trilogy of trilogies. Best out there.

^ this one got me back into Ayumi again after not really liking Guilty to Rock n Roll Circus.

^ this is just the mini albums on one album, but the music was pretty good.

Actually, I prefer "Loveppears", because its my first album i've buy from her, and I knew theres cool stuff in the second disc?

I'm late to this conversation (per usual), but if I had to choose three:

1) MY STORY - This is probably her most cohesive album despite the amount of songwriters (compared to something like Love songs. It's one of her darker albums, but HONEY & Replace really help lift it up towards the end. Best bang for your buck overall.
2) (miss)understood - Best bang for your buck PV-wise. At the time I thought the Sweetbox numbers were a bit off, but looking back it really pushed Ayu into a completely different direction compared to all her previous albums. I think this is what preluded 3/4s of her material after this point (as in most albums can be traced back to this one as its starting point).
3) Memorial address - Even with other artists, I haven't found a mini album that's quite as packed as this one. Even though you only get three album songs, you also get two songs not included in A COMPLETE and the PVs for four of them (of the five altogether). What's amazing is it actually feels like Memorial address and MY STORY go hand-in-hand—the 25 songs can be played consecutively without feeling disjointed.

All of these have a good balance of both Ayu-penned tracks (with Will being the last one we've gotten) and other songwriters that are still pretty active today. :)

I would vote for A Best but it's not there

That album is such a significant stage in her career

I will just say all of them have at least few songs worth it. But you can bypass Love and Again and buy LOVEagain instead.

100% agree! Bummed to see such little A Song for XX love in the voting, lol. Sonically, it may feel a little dated, but lyrically, it's superb.

ASFXX I think is a must just cause it's the first album and the beginning of it all!

I honestly feel that she has only two albums I just don't care for: LOVE again and Rock 'n' Roll Circus. Even then, they are still pretty good.
