So the song is not in English completely, just the chorus? And the buildup to the chorus is great! The song is gonna be SO LONG if this is the short version.

But of course it's that euro-pop doo doo we heard a bit of already, the beat is actually hot and very nostalgic with me for some reason. However the chorus is rather annoying and too cutesy for my taste, i also don't understand the reason she's releasing this now? I was hoping for something that would embrace the season, not what is basically You&Me part 2.

Also am i the only one who thinks this lacks energy? She could have done so much more with it.
But on a positive note, i'm glad that we're finally getting a single again!

It's nice. I guess. Better than other stuff...Her vocals are awful with this type of music for me, but it's cool that the song is edm + her flavor and sound. My favorite parts are the instrumental parts though.

I won't be listening to it when it comes out, but good for her for making it unique and her own.

I let the song grow on me a while back so I'm totally on the Feel the love train.

It sounds like You & Me because it was composed by TK but DJ Hello Kitty producing this somehow gave the song a different vibe. It feels new, and I'm loving it. At least it's different from the rock sound that we were all tired from!

Tbh I love it, this is what that Boys & Girls ayu would be releasing in her 30s.

This is just what I needed, her vocals are much better than expected and imo it works, the chorus is a little meh but still fun and catchy! Don't tell me that the Japanese ain't going to dig this because they will!

Love songs and LOVE again needed to be released in her 40s/50s, she should be doing more music like this and/or rock tracks.

So glad she's releasing a single! I like the song and I think it's the type that will grow on me the more I listen to it

I felt so strange when I first heard this but after a few listens, it became addicting. It goes from a real happy and uplifting chorus, to a kind of sad sounding verse, then to a powerful bridge. I really like it. And it's definitely like a better version of You & Me.
I can't wait for this new single! Why do I have a feeling that Merry-go-round is going to end up something like Sexy Little Things?? It just reminds me of that. >__>

it's not a terribly good song, but it's not a trashy song by any means.

Comparing it to You & Me, this has way less energy for some reason (Winter song, maybe?)... the beat I REALLY love cos it's kinda Namie Amuro-ish FOR ME, meaning I can run to it or work out to it.

I just love the beat so much lol it's like Calvin Harris and Hardwell, damn!

Also, I think it's quite unpolished. I suspect they might polish the song a little more in the mixing process... something about the chorus feels so off from the whole song, and the vocals sound more muffled. Hope they iron that out in the final product!

Aand I hope "Merry-go-round" is a depressing winter ballad about vicious cycles of falling in bad relationships

Um, its... retro? Seriously, its not bad, but it sounds so dated. And while I love my 90s europop, I have my favorite songs from that era already. Also, her voice is not for these kinds of songs. I don't hate it, but I will not be blasting it.

I find her voice is perfect for these kinds of songs. (especially when it gets remixed) The "you and me" part is probably the most unfitting though, I suppose.

Now now, I will try to summarize the eras of "We are tired of -insert what Ayu's done here-" :P~

1998-2001 : We're not tired of anything keep being amazing
2002-2005 : Wait, why are you using English? STOP IT!!!!
2006-2008 : Why are the singles so predictable? The albums always have such an obvious rock/pop/ballad structure, ew!
2009 : NEXT LEVEL is horrible and what the heck is with all the Kazuyoshi Shimomura?
1st half of 2010 : Too much rock, Ayu, you're boring us. You need more ballads. This album is also all over the place and that's not good at all. (Even though like all of Ayu's albums are like this tbh)
2nd half of 2010 : WHAT THE HECK IS WITH ALL THIS MEDIUM/MIDTEMPO? Medium ballads are not fun!
2011 : I'm tired of these collaborations, Ayu.
2012 : Mini albums are so tiring.
2013 : Tired of "EDM" and copying other artists so far.

It's a cool song and may grow on me later on. Hope to hear Merry-go-round (and Pray) in the coming weeks.

My first reaction to this song is that "I love it". But, once the full version comes out, I MIGHT change my mind. Just imagine if this song were composed by Yasutaka Nakata. o_o

Because nothing says "Christmas" like cheesy clubbing cliches. :\ I was so pumped when I heard that Ayu was releasing something new, but with those lyrics, no matter how good the Japanese lyrics may be, the chorus just ruins it for me. Not a huge huge fan of the sound either, but it's cool to see she's trying new stuff. (Well, not that new, but you know.)

Ah well, I really enjoy some of m-flo's stuff, so there's still hope for Merry-go-round. Hoping we get awesome PVs too.
