I just saw the preview of 'LOL' and i love it! Including the 'HAHA LAUGHING OUT LOUD' part! I really like the attitude. I cant wait to hear the full version! YUS~ :love

That'll going on the repeat playlist along with SMYH.

ALfromHELLSING 18th February 2014 01:16 AM

I'm lovin' LOL as well. Sounds so badass, especially Hahaha laughing out loud part!

pimenta 18th February 2014 01:22 AM

I couldn't stop laughing at the "hahaha laughing out loud", it's so weird :laugh

Beauty4123 18th February 2014 03:45 AM

I totally love the "LOL" PV so far! :love The song sounds fantastic, and it's very catchy! Especially the "Hahaha laughing out loud" parts, which I love, lol. Kuu is looking absolutely stunning in the PV, too. :heart I can't wait to watch the full PV!

Yumsushi 18th February 2014 04:15 AM

The cover for driving hits is probably the best one out of the bunch, but why so few tracks?

That's probably just a tentative tracklist.

I have always wondered why the Cherry Girl movie was made...

LOL is so fun! HAHHA

Party_King 18th February 2014 12:18 PM

hahahaha loughing out load... it's so bad that it's great ♥

i read how other Kuufans bashing her for the new album...
i thought it could be better than JAPONESQUE...
okay... Bon Voyage will not... but to say it's disgusting, stupid or poor quality in Songs isn't fair...
the only song i can't stand is LALALALALA...mor me it's like a Selena Gomez or other Disney artists Song...
I hoped sooo much that XXX and IS THIS TRAP? will made it on the Album 'coz these were two of the best songs in the era...
i looove Dreaming Now!, TOUCHDOWN, Go To The Top and Koishikute...
SHOW ME YOUR HOLLA, Winner Girls and LOL are great and i've really high hopes for the collabo with SEAN PAUL...
he's one of my favourite western artists and i lknow it will be light years better than That Ain't Cool!

This is the most surprising era of Kuuchan for me!

but i also hope for SHOW ME YOUR HOLLA, LOL, Watchu Waiting On?, Pink Spider, Black Candy, Love goes like and i think LOADED could be nice too ^_^

kaled kalil 18th February 2014 01:33 PM

Bon Voyage, so far, is a step up from JAPONESQUE imo. The singles were okay, and she always had that one rockish song that everybody thinks it's not good (Hashire/PLC/LALALALALA) so I'm not counting this as a bad thing. And she always left some good songs as b-sides.

The problem with JAPONESQUE is that the album has many fillers (Everyday/Brave/You're not alone/All for you) and is really predictable, it's like a better Kingdom. It still a good album tho.

The only thing I can describe Bon Voyage is that the album is really fresh for her career, trying things that were not expected (TOUCH DOWN) and being more "mature" with less ballads and cute songs. And you always can replace the songs you hate for those songs you like, so you can go and delete LALALALA and put something else instead. :P

Benikari47 18th February 2014 01:42 PM

Personally, i just find JAPONESQUE to be better cause it felt more like a greatest hits album than the usual filler-filled affair. Pretty much all the songs on that album sounded like something we had heard from her before, but the difference is that they managed to stand up as some of the bests in those given categories. Lay Down is seriously one of the hottest tracks in her whole career, and she actually managed to make me love the cutesy songs on that album as well.

Bon Voyage is not shaping up to be as bad as i expected, but the new and experimental songs aren't all that great (Go To The Top, Show Me Your Holla etc) and then we have the usual that just aren't up to the standard of what we know she can release.

Dreaming Now, TOUCHDOWN and LOL are all great though. But of course this is all just my opinion lol, not to mention that we still have quite a few tracks left.

Corvina 18th February 2014 02:20 PM

First tour goods are revealed.

tenshi no hane 18th February 2014 03:09 PM

I'm surprised to see many people don't love JAPONESQUE all that much. Personally it's my favorite album of hers because the 4 TIMES single was amazing and it also has great album tracks like Boom Boom Boys, No Man's Land, ESCALATE, Lay Down and Love Technique. (I agree Brave and Everyday are sugary filler. But, come on, it's a Koda Kumi album. I kick them off my iTunes and that's that.)

To each his own of course.

kaled kalil 18th February 2014 03:50 PM

It's not that I don't love JAPONESQUE, but sometime the album is overrated for what it is.
As lovethatkuu from JPC said, it would be hard for an album to top JAPONESQUE, as much as it was hard for TRICK to output Kingdom. All those albuns have they're magic and they strong points.
People tend to come here and just drag the current release saying "I want that Kuu back"... It's just pointless.

Minttulatte 18th February 2014 04:00 PM

JAPONESQUE is my #3 all time favorite Kuu album. Only Dejavu and Black Cherry go past it. :D And that album has Lay Down, which is probably the best song on the album. :3

And yes, it's useless to come and say "I want that Kuu back". It's similar to what happens every time in the Ayu threads these days. It really annoys me. I do respect opinions of all kinds (at least I try to) but complaining is so annoying tbh. :<

Zeke. 18th February 2014 04:27 PM

JAPONESQUE is like everything she's ever done, revisited. Just not as good as she's done it in the past. So for me, the only song I loved was LOVE TECHNIQUE cause that was new for her - a true expansion in the cutesy style. And No Mans Land I got used to.

happiholic★ 18th February 2014 04:31 PM

Personally, I'm always excited for a new album, even if I'm not feeling some of the songs leading up to the release. And as far as Bon Voyage, I do think that this album is also different for her. She's using a theme that she has not used before, and songs like SMYH, GTTT and even Dreaming Now! are quite different for her. I'm finding it a good balance between doing what fans love her for, while still trying out a new sound and look. Even if I don't like the songs, I still appreciate what she is doing.

freedreamer 18th February 2014 04:32 PM

i.need.LOL.in.fulllll!!!!!

ILoveGeniuses 18th February 2014 05:19 PM

The blue/white stripes with the Koda Kuma remind me of the design my sister had for my nephew's room when he was a baby. *giggles*

I really like the Larger towel, light stick and tshirt with her face on it. :)

Whats the thing above the novelty license plate though?

Lady~Deviance 18th February 2014 06:05 PM

I will never understand the hype behind "Japonesque". It came across as a "Kingdom 2.0"/watered down compilation album. :shrug

Overall "Japonesque" represented Kumi "closing the door" to that part of her career and "Bon Voyage" seems like a transitioning album of her mature sound if anything. I guarantee her next studio album will be more refined and please a wider audience. :yes

And a few of those temperamental and pretentious Kuu fans over at JPC need to get off their high horses and stop being so condescending towards their own members and the members here as well. It's so childish. If people don't like what they hear so far from Kuu's new album then let it be. No crime was committed and It's just music for pete's sake. The opinions of others shouldn't deter you from enjoying anything in life. :grumpy

Heavenly 18th February 2014 07:36 PM

I like JAPONESQUE so much because it's one of the only album of Koda Kumi that I like as a cohesive thing (with UNIVERSE). I didn't like any of her previous album as a whole, only a few tracks here and there.

ILoveGeniuses 18th February 2014 08:33 PM

1) I LOVE Japonesque and All For You has NEVER felt like a filler track. Actually, Ayu had AUDIENCE & Namie had I Wanna Show You My Love as the songs that were for their fans specifically, both of which I REALLY enjoy. However, I LOVED how Kuu did All For You with the In-Studio Acoustic thing much more. It makes it feel far more personal towards the fans this way. I was very touched by this. :heart

2) As for Bon Voyage, I've been listening to the previews more and more. SMYH is greatly growing on me. Btw, wasn't the full PV to that posted? Winner Girls is also really growing on myself. Imagine I think I need to hear more of it to make up my mind, and slowly as I listen to that preview of LOL more and more, the "hahahaha laughing out loud" is starting to irritate me less and less. I really think I'll grow to like it. As for the singles, Touchdown, I've always liked it. Just never loved it... I think mostly cause whenever I hear it I see that guy that was in the PV with that random bad dancing that to me seemed just sooo out of place. Then there's Koishikute which I STILL think is one of her weakest ballads EVER. I don't hate it, but I don't overly like it either. I don't remember the PV very well either, but I'm that way with A LOT of her ballad PVs. SO MANY have a similar formula that there's not a lot that really stick out in my mind. I think the ones for KISEKI & feel probably stand out the most. The PV for LALALALALA has been in my head for awhile. It's a lot of fun and it's a pretty good song. It's just not exactly her best summer song. The song GTTT I love. As for the PV, I'm not sure if I've ever even watched the entire thing. I really should.

@Heavenly Btw, I love your ava and siggy set. Those are AWESOME :blove

Seriously I really really don't understand how we can considered this album like something more mature at least from the previews we have got :shrug
From what I've heard there is nothing new, LOL and Winner Girls are far from what I could define like mature songs ... but it's just my thought !
I still check her new releases because I quite like her but since some time she is so predictable musically since "déjà vu" maybe before it's always the same formula : one pop rock songs, one or two ballads, two or three electro songs, one or two r&b/hip hop songs, one song where she really tries something new ... and of course the cute one ! Sometime I'm surprised by some songs but yeah since Déjà vu less and less ...

I know a lot of people will not be happy about what I think but it's just what I feel with Kumi since some time !

Me, too. JAPONESQUE isn't cohesive itself really, but it feels like a cohesive, completed project, and I really appreciate how much effort she put into picking out songs that would for the most part all hold their own against the other tracks. I find most of her other albums hit or miss, and they never really satisfy on the level of a complete "album" for me, so I tend to listen to songs from Kingdom, BEST ~second session~, TRICK, etc. shuffled together. JAPONESQUE just feels like the total package for me in the same sense that Black Cherry feels like the total package. Nothing's missing at all, and the songs are all some of the better ones she's delivered from their respective genres. :heart Plus... the songs that I consider filler from JAPONESQUE are the ones that I know Japan would eat up, so I forgive her for them (Brave lol).

It's not that I think her other albums are bad really... They just never feel like true albums to me so much as compilations of some songs that I like and some that I don't really care for.

Her releases have been sooo formulaic since all the way back to Black Cherry lbr. I feel like it'd help if she mixed up her release pattern. There's nothing wrong with sticking to the sounds that work well for her, but when they're always released in the same exact pattern... it becomes too expected. :shrug And it really makes it obvious when Formulaic Summer Single #800 for example isn't as strong as the past ones.

emi♡ 18th February 2014 11:20 PM

I feel like JAPONESQUE might not have had the best music, but everything was just produced so well. Like, I didn't like a lot of the pure melodies of the songs, but I appreciated the work, and her vocals. I appreciated all of the PVs, and then of course, the amazingness of the physical product.

Love Technique is also, the greatest thing ever, so that brought the music up a little :P

I feel like Japonesque is a total package, and that's how it's cohesive.

I do feel like she's formulaic, but I like it. I feel like she really understands these dance/hip hop, etc styles really well, and she consistently impresses me, so I don't mind so much that all of her albums have the same types of songs. I WANT those songs from her.

I want my 3 dance songs, and then two ballads, and then maybe an acoustic, and then a rock song. It's great for her live shows, and she works hard at it.

Like what Deviance said up there, I'm excited for what she has for the next album.

Does anyone have any VERY LARGE Bon Voyage promo images that are textless?

I love Japonesque! It had good Kumi memories for me - so many PVs and songs to listen to!! Am I the only one who likes Poppin Love Cocktail?

I don't expect to rate Bon Voyage as highly as Japonesque but I'm OK with that - it's hard to top!

Agreed! Like with Ayumi, I like having different styles of music on her albums. Japonesque to me was her doing what she does best. (Similar to (miss)understood being a good example of all the styles of music Ayumi does). The ballads on Japonesque are my favourite from her, but it's still a great album!

I totally agree.

I liked JAPONESQUE much better than Dejavu (which, for me, it's her weakest from later years), so at the time it felt like a good improvement, but still for me it's not nearly as good as UNIVERSE or Black Cherry, or even Second Session (I tend to consider it as an album), Secret or TRICK... I think JAPONESQUE is better than Kingdom though, because I always though that at least half of Kingdom's tracks are forgetful...

Anyway, I have good hopes for Bon Voyage, even if I skip GTTT every single time it starts playing... At least I'm happy IS THIS TRAP? is not in the album, I'll never understand the love for this song, I really don't like its verses...

I completely agree with you. In regard to her "mature sound" I was just merely repeating what Kumi herself described her new album as in a recent interview as she stated she wants to go toward a new mature/cool sound and image. I personally don't find anything "mature" about the album but I could care less at this point.

I'm just glad she did away with her usual crowd pleasing cutesy songs and collection of sappy ballads. :P

Ashen Twilight 19th February 2014 07:48 AM

Omg she's becoming Namie with her songs. =\

And honestly, I'm surprised to see people change their views on JAPONESQUE. It was so highly praised when it was released, and was continually praised for a long while afterwards. I still listen to it every few days, which is huge for me. What exactly do people not like about it, or what changed your views? Kuu has never had an album that was as consistent as JAPONESQUE. The singles were great, the album tracks were even better. People are talking about her being "more mature," but even the cuter songs like Everyday weren't sugar gumdrop explosions like that disgusting song, Melting. It's easily her best album post secret.

I do have to agree that her releases have become quite predictable, however. There is always a song like No Way. There is always a song like BUT. There is always a song like Ai wo Tomenaide. There is always a song like Super Star. I could go on forever. In that aspect, Bon Voyage has been different for the most part. I'm excited to see how it turns out.

tenshi no hane 19th February 2014 08:38 AM

Thanks for the heads up, kaled kalil. I guess releasing lyrics before the album is becoming a new trend. They did the same with Miliyah Kato. Not that I mind~

edit: I translated LOL's chorus~

Tonight the beat is hypnotizing. That's right
Ha ha ha ha ha
Right. Leave if you want, I'm not going to stop you
Go with the sound. Shake your head
Tonight the beat is hypnotizing. That's right
Ha ha ha ha ha
Right. You can look if you want
Go with the sound. Louder

I kinda agree with this. After Dejavu, which was a big letdown for me she really nailed JAPONESQUE. But I still love Kingdom more. It's really amazing especially with all those good album tracks.
OMG, this week I've been in a huge Kuu mood (the same with ayu!)!! I've not felt like this with her music since spring 2013.

No other previews yet?

ILoveGeniuses 19th February 2014 02:34 PM

Am I The ONLY ONE that ADORES Dejavu through & through? TBH, I ♥♥♥♥♥ even her cute songs. Songs like Koi no Mahou & Melting I find very fun. I'm just not always fond of the PVs or how she performs em all the time. I do admit I love SUPERSTAR right up to the end when she she just flat speaks "I just wanna be your superstar *makes kissy face sound*". I'm 28 and yet I still admit I have this bit of a kid geek side to me, so I still enjoy a lot of it. However, like I said, I dont always enjoy the performances or PVs as I dont find every cute thing she does to be cute. I ♥♥♥♥♥ when she did the FIND KUU-CHAN thing in the Kingdom Tour. Her as the giraffe was just adorable and I had a huge smile put on my face during the end of the (i think Universe Tour) when she ran back out on stage in the Koda Kuma costume. Seems like something random I might do myself. :laugh
However when she did stuff like repetitive crying as her sad miniature self during FANTASIA or had that squeaky clown during Trick Tour, those I just found flat annoying. I mute every time I watch those. Overall though, honestly watching her and even seeing the interviews and all the backstage type of stuff I've always sorta felt that if we actually knew each other we'd probably be close like sisters.

Anyways I can also say Bon Voyage is REALLY REALLY growing on me. As for LOL, I think once the full song's out it'll help towards how I feel for it. However there's also still a number of songs that havent leaked so much as a preview yet. The title CRANK THA BASS makes me instantly think of B Spears' Big Fat Bass, which makes me even more intrigued to hear it despite I'm positive they won't sound a thing alike.

Minttulatte 19th February 2014 03:42 PM

^You're not the only one who stans for Dejavu. It's my #2 favorite all time Kuu album. Seriously. That album made me so obsessed with her music again♥ All songs on the album are just flawless~

Sorry, but I highly disagree with that, for me it's not even as close as consistent as UNIVERSE, for example... In my case I keep thinking what I did when JAPONESQUE was released: good, but she has better. I can't explain exactly why, I mean, I like all the songs on that album, but most of the album tracks lack something imo, that 'something' that makes me completely adore them and want to listen to them all the time. I still think it's a very good album, but definitely not her best.

But, oh well, that's the beauty of different opinions, at least we know that for any album she releases there'll always be people who will love it to death :D

As for the "mature" sound, I think Bon Voyage is turning to be one of her least mature albums to date, but I'm not complaining, I'm liking it :laugh

:grumpy

lol what? you think these twerk anthems she's making for this album are any more mature than her earlier work?

kaled kalil 19th February 2014 07:15 PM

I don't know how people are not understanding the "mature" that everyone is talking about. Its not about the lyrics... Its not like she is trying to be deep about life or saying how we could save the earth.
The album is shaping up to be more upbeat, and with less ballads and cute songs. It shows more of the "Koda Kumi" style, which is more mature and cool , than the "Kuu-chan" that we see during subs like Everyday/Koi no Tsubomi.
And it's not even a fact yet, since we haven't listen the whole album.

ILoveGeniuses 19th February 2014 07:32 PM

LOL brings me lot of interest for Bon Voyage.
Really great track and the PV is cool.

JAPONESQUE is a really nice album.
It's true the middle of the album is a bit annoying but the beginning and (especially) the end of the album are amazing.
PVs were nice, as well as the package and the cover.
I agree with the person who gave comparison between JAPONESQUE, Kingdom & BEST ~second session~.

Edit : Nevermind, comparison was made on JPC, not in here loool :lech

I dunno. I do think that the album so far sounds just like everything else she's ever put out. :shrug It's not as if there's been some noticeable shift in sound or sophistication just because she skimped on the cutesy songs or ballads this time around. Not that there's anything wrong with that or that it means the album will be bad per se, but I'm just not hearing the change personally or seeing it as a growth in maturity... Especially not with LOL on it.

Maybe I just don't see it because I never really equated her cutesy songs with being "immature." The only music I find really immature is that trite idol stuff (e.g. AKB48).

marty 19th February 2014 11:57 PM

Honestly, it's since Secret that I feel Kuu isn't cohesive in her albums.
And that's fine for me.
I mean, she has this formula in her cds and it kind of works for me, so I can enjoy every album, even if they always have this one track that makes me cringe.
Usually the cutsey-poppy-totally inadequate for her track, typical example: EVERYDAY, which, like, completely ruined JAPONESQUE for me.
JAPONESQUE was on the verge of perfection, it has EVERYTHING, except for Brave, nice but generic, and Everyday. Everything else was either amazing, or made amazing but outstandingly convincing Kuu vocals. She rocked that album vocally so hard. Love Technique and Boom Boom Boys are so great especially because of the way she sang them.
Love Technique is also the proof she can be super cute, yet not sing souless pop songs. And that acoustic version of You are not alone was genius.
She has so much acoustic potential!

Bon Voyage, on the other hand, it's nothing new, but it's SUPER SOLID imo.
And it has these new, soft touches here and there. Nothing breathtaking, but very appreciable!

to me, neither LOL nor Winner Girls play that way. But, with a fuller track maybe what/how you're hearing could become more evident to me.

Good call on feel my mind. There is a certain maturity to that album, but it never loses energy or a sense of fun. Damn, that's such a good album. For me, it feels like her most coherent output to date.

And on the note of 'maturity' (yes, the point is over now, hahaha), to me it always meant knowing when it was ok to let loose and act like a kid.

Agreed, that is also what I read of a translated interview. :) And the songs on this album do seem to be a lot more hip-hop and r'n'b based direction, with less ballads and cute songs like the tradition with her albums. And as you say, less about love songs which she is known in Japan for, and showing a more cool image. Which also ties in with the album title, cause it's like shes saying 'bon voyage!' to the way she used to do things and is trying something new. (which I think is basically what shes saying).

I daresay it took a lot of courage for her to do an album built up of more songs like this (like, more western and 'go for it' attitude) than her usual cute and ballad-y songs that her fans like so much and are used to, as you can't really tell how Japanese fans will take it. But I'm really glad she has! Because I am adoring the songs so far. I'm actually looking forward to hearing more of 'Imagine' though. It might be a nice ballad or soft song to give some variety over the R'nB songs. :) But I do praise Kuu for trying new things, its what I love about her. And some people don't like all the English but I'm actually pleased to hear Kuu sing in English! But obviously that could just be me.

My only thing with the whole "doesn't drink or smoke", or the whole profile really, is that we been using for God knows how long. Are purple and green still her favorite colors? I remember reading recently that it was pink. If these facts are still from an interview profile from when she was 19, they are no longer accurate.

Anywho, haven't seen this much serious discussion in the Kuu thread in a long time.

I was re-watching some of Kuu performances today and I started wondering something... For the parts of her concerts were they pick some people from the audience, has it even been a guy?
I mean, I know in some tours they choose 4 people and some are boys, but then she goes and chooses 1 of those 4 and it always seem to be girls (probably it feels less awkward for her to sit on strange girls laps than boys )... Was there any time where she actually picked a guy? Or on those times the dancers only pick one person to go on stage was there a time it was a guy? Not on the DVDs, but during the whole tours... I just kept wondering that, because I feel sorry for the guys that go on stage because they know in advance that she'll never pick them lol (well, at least they got on the stage with her, that's good already)

Maybe she just doesn't know how a guy would react. And with the girls she always touch them, but the boys she usually only look or touch their faces.
As far as I know she never choose a guy, even on those less sexual performances like Song Menu on Kingdom or Futari de on UNIVERSE.

Totally forgot about those, Ii Hi Tabidachi was so epic :thud See, already 3 tracks, just some more and she can release an EP hahahaha

Not to change the subject, but yeah kuu drinks, she's even mentioned it in an interview how she never drank before until recently.

I have no idea what her new songs sound like, and I guess I plan on keeping it that way for now. I'm interested in hearing how the album will turn out since the last album I listened to was Japonesque.

I live for Kuu's enka voice. I really wish she'd use her lower register more.

Am I the only one who loves Kuu's BOY FRIEND? I've never heard fans to speak too much about the tracks from her first three albums. I agree with the fact that there are boring tracks in those but also some true gems.

When will we get to see the tracklist for DH6? Let there be no more remixes of BUT, Cutie Honey, Butterfly, you, TAKE BACK or real Emotion in there..

ILoveGeniuses 21st February 2014 02:49 PM

@Surreal17 Aside from Best Friend Of Mine I ADORE ALL OF AFFECTION, GROW INTO ONE AND FEEL MY MIND!! ♥♥♥♥♥
"BOY FRIEND?" was a Great song :D

^
^ Probably three weeks before its release. And while I like these songs, they've already all been on previous DH, I'd rather have other songs :P

Question. Am I the only person here that's not all that interested in remixes? I used to be obsessed with em like 7 years ago, but now I just don't really care all that much. Only things to make exceptions are Acoustic, Orchestra and Piano Versions sometimes for some reason.....

I used to be like that, but last year for some reason I started to get more into remixes :)
Still, I never really get hyped for remix releases, I just wait for them to be released and then check if I like them, and I don't really mind if I don't...

One of my favorites, it always creeps into my playlists.

Saw on FB, probably took from baidu: Previews from LOADED, Let's show tonight, CRANK THA BASS, On Your Side and U Know. Password is 140226

Let's show tonight is even better than SHOW ME YOUR HOLLA :thud LOADED also sounds much better than I expected, and CRANK THA BASS has got some real potential. This album is a total ass kicker for me, oh Lord
