Alice Nine (アリス九號.?, previously stylized as alicenine.) is a Japanese visual kei rock band formed in Tokyo in 2004. Originally signed to PS Company, a sub-division of Free-Will, they then signed to King Records until 2010. As of 2013, the band is signed to both PS Company and Universal Music Group's Nayutawave Records in Japan, as well as to German label CLJ Records in Europe and has released five full-length records,along with several EPs, singles and DVDs.

Shou (将) – Lead vocals, leader
-As of January 2012, the position of band leader has been moved from Nao to Shou.
Hiroto (ヒロト) – Guitars, backing vocals
- Also in the supergroup Karasu, that formed in 2009 with Tatsurou (Mucc), Mizuki (Sadie), Dunch (Jealkb) and Kenzo (Ayabie)
Tora (虎) – Guitars, piano, backing vocals
-Also in the supergroup The Tokyo High Black as lead guitarist "Mon Marshy", with Saga as "Tomorrow Joe" and Musasaby (Nao from Kagrra,), Madao (Keiyu from Kra), Tako (Takuya from Administrator) and Gey (drums)
Saga (沙我) – Bass, vocals, synthesizers, keyboards

I'm looking forward the SEVEN Music Video to be honest,( Was there some kind of preview on that thing somewhere? If so I haven't seen it yet, but I don't think there was any preview at all)
Especially since it's coming in a version for every Member, so I want to see Hiroto's version badly

No previews of SEVEN to date unfortunately. Tho there's going to be an alice nine channel on 16th (or was it 15th) March so I think the guys will be tortured to show us some snippets of the pv like usual, I CAN'T WAIT!!!! It's going to be funny!

Yes I think we will, for sure! I'm a bit disappointed because I wanted a documentary like the one they did for stargazer ç_ç

Now would be a great time to get back into Alice Nine like I did with MUCC. I miss my favorite bands from my younger days.

^ I think you will love the direction they have taken, it's a nice time to get back into them! You can already her the new single SHINING and a nice best collection 2010-2012 got out if you want to keep up to date!~

@tsumekaze_ why don't u use the colors of the new single and its promo pic on the first post? :) I just updated their "SHINING" page on generasia. You could also copy and paste the discography list from generasia so it won't lose its titles' stylization.

I often see stuff about it on tumblr, but I think then I'm too late and it has already aired when people post screencaps or even gifs. xD

^ haha same here. But that LJ is one of the few places which is always updated and probably the only one where you can download the oldest alice nine channels. It's truly the largest community out there!

I used to be so active at livejournal, and you could find everything there.
It sucks a bit that nobody I know is active there anymore..
I still have my accounts, but I will probably only use them to check certain communities like the alice nine one you just linked me to!

They're #9 today on Oricon! Pretty much due to their Music Dragon 'SHINING' performance on Saturday. I estimate something around 8~10k for the first week.

Oh a big jump! I'M VERY HAPPY! I had hoped that the performance was worth a little promotion, plus they appeared on various channels and radio lately to promote the single (tokimeki visual night etc)
I'm not really used to Visual kei selling numbers, would 8~10k be good? is it an improvement or a fall compared to their singles selling history? just curious of how their career is going.

I have no clue about sales or anything either, but I would almost say being #9 is pretty good? I mean yeah, you can always do better for sure but this is in no way bad I think.

Alice Nine have been followed by a solid fandom through these years, their numbers are always steady (around 10k per release) and from time to time they score something on Oricon Top 10.

Do you guys like this 'cosmic' concept that they've been using since Alpha~VANDALIZE? I love it :heart It gives them some kind of identity.

Yup #9 it's very nice especially for a J-rock VK band I believe. Apart from the gazette those bands never get recognised big time, but arisu9 climbed charts very steadily from their formation till now as brener stated, and they are among the most important band in the VK panorama! ♥

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the cosmic concept, and as pointed out I like the fact that it has given an identity to alice nine. I'm, personally, a sucker for starry night skies and lights and planets and hoshis~ so I can't be happier. I'm also very much in love with the sound the band has taken up from alpha (and especially from VANDALIZE with the climax being GEMINI) up until now. A very mature, sometimes dark, sometimes ethereal sound that suits the cosmic image. I also like their constant contrapposition of light and dark, and their general reflections on these topics as for the concept behind SUPERNOVA (the world between nothing and birth hidden inside of all of us etc.). I especially love shou's lyrics, I find them to be extremely beautiful.

My favourite album is GEMINI, btw

SHINING debuted at #15 and sold 7,319 copies, good number after all :yes

The album will be out in two weeks, their singles usually chart around three weeks, I think when people buy the album they'll also get the single, making it chart for another week or two beyond the usual three.

Thinking about it, my favorite album is probably GEMINI as well closely followed by Alpha I would say.

Same here. I hope supernova will be wonderful. I liked 9 but I wouldn't want another 9, I don't really know why. Whereas I'd love another GEMINI. I just like darker concepts, I guess. Songs like from kurayami, birth in the death, kasumi, karma. I'm a sucker for these songs. So I hope they'll create an album that will leave me wanting another supernova as I long for another GEMINI XD

I mean, SUPERNOVA already has certain tracks like Daybreak and shooting star as tracks I like, and SHINING as their new single now as well.
So I will just hope the new ones will be just as good or even better.

I'm usually an album person more than a single person anyway..so I feel like I HAVE to get it especially since I now got back into them thanks to their latest single.
I suppose I will try to get my hands on the CD Only even if I usually buy CD+DVD stuff.
Maybe if I take some commissions and get enough money I can/will buy the limited one as well xD;

I don't really like shooting star, but I love SHADOWPLAY (which will have a reprise here. I wonder how it will change, I'm very curious. it's before kaisen zenya so maybe more rockish? uhm), SHINING, exist, kaisen zenya and daybreak out of the ones we already know. I've heard that mebius and SEVEN have several elements of EDM from live reports so I'm looking forward to those as well!

The dvd+cd has only the pv more than the normal version so this time round I guess it's better to save and get the cd only. I'll get the limited only because I have this habit of doing it and would probably regret it later when it's no longer available lol but I can still change my mind!

shooting star is okay to me. Nothing I keep on repeat, but nothing I would skip either.
I haven't counted SHADOWPLAY into the tracks I like, because exactly of the fact there will be an album version of it. Maybe it will just be longer or something? but I hope it will have some new sound as well.

I do know the feeling of regret when a limited edition is sold out though.

But for example, I used to be a huuuge UVERworld fan for years ( and while I do still like their old stuff and do listen to the new stuff to check of it's good I'm not exactly a big fan anymore)
I bought CD+DVD versions and I now kind of regret it too, because I feel like I have no need for those anymore, and it was kind of a waste of money xD;

Yup! people who were so lucky to attend their last concert got to hear the new songs live. It appears that they received it very well and loved it. So yes, EDM ELEMENTS! WO i'm excited as well haha.

I understand what you mean about the regret part, it happened to me too ahah. Just sell them somewhere or keep them withouht guilt at the thought it is something which represents your past u_u

The guys are back, lots happened in these months. They separated from their office, went indipendent and created their own label under the name A9. Any of you been following them? Am i the only one? ^^

I remember Alice Nine from many years ago. I used to like them a lot like 10ish years ago. I didn't think there would be a thread for them here. I have no idea what they have been up to all these years.

Seems their latest album was PLANET NINE and Ken from L'arc~en~ciel produced the track UNREAL

I know they just finished up a tour with two separate legs: Stairway to Mars and Stairway to Moon. And last week they had a fanclub trip to Lake Biwa in Shiga Prefecture.
