No, but, let's be serious here. Namie sold 100k the very first day, with a BALLAD compilation, on SUMMER.
She's the Queen and we're nothing.

How is she selling this much? Well her biggest hits are mainly ballads, so ofc a ballad-best with new versions of CYC and S19B, a PV for Four Seasons (a fan-favorite for years), and other huge hits like Love Story etc... is gonna do well.

Namie's marketing team is amazing and they know exactly what they are doing. And in general Namie seems to just be very liked in Japan.

lol are people still talking about her dead look? you shouldve known her in 2005-2010... Her look now is like a happy fluffy bunny compared to her dead look then lol:D

I'm so happy for her, although I am surprised as well that Baby Don't Cry and Get Myself Back aren't a part of the track list.

I'm actually surprised this Best album isn't even selling more.
It's selling a bit less than FEEl right now, and FEEL is an original album.
In general Best albums do normally better than original albums, so I'm a bit underwhelmed, lol.
Though those sales are still absolutely great!

I was thinking like a 300 000 first week and long run 500 000, since this is a best album with CYC?, S19B and Love Story, not to say these numbers are "bad", they're not, just that I personally was expecting more. Which makes me think that is her second peak starting to end and does the release timing effect (maybe winter would have been better?).. Of course it's way too early to speculate, just voicing my thoughts out :)

No, I think the sales are just decreasing in general.
It's tough to sell in Japan nowdays, unless you're a group.

I'm hopping for higher numbers on the weekend =)

I hope it sells more than LOVE ENHANCED (305,040) cause I think it's so much better than that release

I'll never understand how sales work or why they decline, especially since every year the population grows more and more. Especially especially since there's currently around 1 billion more people in the world population now than there were in 1998.

Actually is pretty common higher numbers on weekends ^^ it's when people get some time for shopping

That's right. Higher speed Internet and the file sizes of audio make it easier to download music, legally or not, than buying CDs... (although I do buy CDs for a few of my favorite artists just because I want the complete package, including the printed lyrics insert)

I don´t care about the printed lyrics that much, but I also still buy CDs for a few of my favourite artists (Namie Amuro, Joey Yung etc.), just because I want to have the whole collection ;)
However, CDs will definitely not survive much longer (max. next 10 years). The current generation of listeners is just not used to buy CDs. Moreover, they usually do not own a CD player at home.
So I think that legal downloading (via iTunes and similar services) is the only was how this business may survive. They just need to promote the legal downloading in a right way ...
