salina 26th November 2014 03:11 PM

why is koda kumi not in the list:yes

tsumekaze_ 26th November 2014 08:38 PM

May J debuts? Omg hope she won't sing LET IT GO. Seriously have had enough of the song.

owlflight 26th November 2014 09:46 PM

YAY FOR AYAKA! Wonder what she will sing?

Surreal17 26th November 2014 10:39 PM

ooohh! Shiina ringo? great!!!

Zemus 26th November 2014 11:30 PM

Can't actually believe that Yakushimaru Hiroko hasn't been on Kouhaku before. While she is mainly an actress, but some of her songs were huge hits back the 1980s. I am surprised.

ayaka, Shiina Ringo, Seiko. Not bad. :D

adantatu2 27th November 2014 01:23 AM

No ayu, no Koda, no Namie. There's something wrong.

If she will not sing Let It Go , next alternative will be that she might sing A Whole New World with Chris Hart

Don't see why May J. will not sing Let It Go though lmao

TeamAyu2004 27th November 2014 03:04 AM

kinda sad that ayumi isnt on the list!
At least its not a surprise!

This year's program will feature a total of 51 artists; 27 artists for the red team and 24 artists for the white team. There will be first-time appearances by HKT48, May J., and Yakushimaru Hiroko for the red team, and V6 and SEKAI NO OWARI for the white team.

In addition, there will be a tie-up with TV anime 'Youkai Watch' within the program. The anime's character 'Jibanyan', along with King Cream Soda and Dream5, who sing the anime's opening and ending themes, will be making their appearances on the show for the first time.

The theme of this year's program is "Utaou. Oomisoka wa Zenin Saka de!" which translates to "Let's sing. Everyone participate on New Year's Eve!" Actress Yoshitaka Yuriko and popular group Arashi will be the hosts for the red and white teams respectively.

I still wonder why it took so long for V6 to get invited but better late than never

Bigtop 27th November 2014 03:43 AM

Only hopes for the read team for me are Ayaka, AKB48 and its sister groups, miwa and Perfume...

I'm also surprised that aiko and Kobukuro are left out from the field. Uhh...WHAT!?

Even more surprising is how angry aiko was when she was left out...!

(Can anybody translate it into somewhat clear? Looks like aiko was pretty upset, enough to spark some Japanese entertainment newswires... Looks like not only Ayu, but also Kobukuro aren't going to appear in this year's Kouhaku...)

adantatu2 28th November 2014 01:41 AM

^Thanks for the info, I didn't know it !!! aiko is out too, mmm, I wonder what happened

emi♡ 3rd December 2014 12:55 AM

I didn't realize the koda wasn't going either lol

there is officially no reason to watch this.

Strongbad456 3rd December 2014 10:39 PM

Morning Musume ignored again :(. And they're doing so great lately too, it's a shame they're not invited anymore.

Polyrhythm 9th December 2014 07:24 AM

Nogizaka shits on AKB48 on a daily basis in terms of sheer quality. It's a shame the right group isn't going to the event...

Agreed! I like their more 'classy' style of songs! :yes

Zemus 10th December 2014 09:05 AM

Guess I have to agree as well. Especially after seeing both guest on FNS recently.

Anyway, back to Kouhaku discussion. It has been revealed that Arashi and Matsuda Seiko are going to close the show. The red team gets the honour of being the last performer for the first since 2004.

Bigtop 11th December 2014 03:45 AM

Whoa...Arashi going to close out the show for the white team!? :O

KarenPang 11th December 2014 10:55 AM

Much as I support ARASHI , I really wish they will stop being the Kouhaku hosts

The Johnny's countdown is not the same without them imo + this year's Johnny's lineup that will take part in the countdown is not that great ugh

Agreed! :yes I'm really getting tired of this unbalance of putting Arashi as a host of the Kouhaku that is putting the red team's chances to "not very much" and a Johnny's countdown lineup that is uninspiring!

I want Arashi to get off the Kouhaku host status and bring back the glory days of Johnny's countdown!!!

Uemarasan 13th December 2014 04:25 AM

The Kohaku really started to decline when, first, they stopped inviting Sachiko Kobayashi and then, second, Korean artists became persona non grata. Yeah, where are Nogizaka46, Yuzu, Bump of Chicken, Southern All Stars? I wish they would look at hit albums instead of just hit singles of the year.

adantatu2 14th December 2014 01:04 AM

Nogizaka46 had an excellent year, they even sold more than AKB's sister groups.

Arashi & 'Yokai Watch' to collaborate for 'Kohaku Uta Gassen'

Quote:

It's been revealed that 'The 65th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen' will feature a collaboration between Arashi and popular game/anime 'Yokai Watch'.

There will be a special corner within the program in which King Cream Soda and Dream5, as well as the anime's characters 'Jibanyan', 'Fuyunyan', and 'Whisper' will take the stage with other performers. In that corner, the characters of 'Yokai Watch' will perform Arashi's debut song "A・RA・SHI" in their own special version.

'The 65th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen' will broadcast on December 31 for 4.5 hours from 7:15 pm to 11:45 pm. This year's theme is: "Utaou. Oomisoka wa Zenin Saka de!" which translates to "Let's sing. Everyone participate on New Year's Eve!" Actress Yoshitaka Yuriko and Arashi will be the hosts for the red and white teams respectively.

Arashi member Ohno Satoshi commented, "I've played non-human roles in the past, but I never imagined collaborating with monsters as Arashi. Who knew that this year's theme of 'Everyone participate' meant that!! Once again, I felt the power of this national program called 'Kohaku Uta Gassen' that overcomes the barrier between human and monsters."

I have a feeling they - and HKT48 - could end up in the next year's Kouhaku (66th)! Cannot guarantee though, but Nogizaka46 is becoming pretty much dangerous as a potential "true" AKB48 competitor. But in terms of Kouhaku, same team as AKB48! :D

Agreed. Today's current generation isn't in the mood for Morning Musume, now that AKB48 (and its related groups) has been pretty much the norm for today...

Zemus 31st December 2014 09:17 AM

Wow, gonna be quite a 80's boom on Kouhaku tonight. With Seiko, Yakushimaru Hiroko and now Nakamori Akina added to the list.

Quote:

NHK has announced that singer Nakamori Akina will perform on 'The 65th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen' that's scheduled to broadcast on December 31 from 7:15 pm to 11:45 pm.

Nakamori resumed her activities in the beginning of this year after going on hiatus in 2009. On 'Kohaku', she will perform her new song "Rojo -Tierra-" live from a recording studio in the United States.

"Rojo -Tierra-" will be released as Nakamori's new single on January 21. This marks her first new song in about five and a half years. She's also scheduled to release her cover album "Utahime4 -My Eggs Benedict-" on January 28.

The show starts in about an hour from now. Since I don't have access to TV Japan or a proper stream, going to tune in and listen on NHK Radio 1 instead.

Let's hope all goes smooth for red team host Yoshitaka Yuriko too. I understood she had some moments during the rehearsals. :P

Wait...can you listen to NHK Radio 1, even though you live in Finland (anywhere outside Japan)? How?

Zemus 31st December 2014 10:40 AM

Well, usually no. But I have a Japanese IP (located in Osaka) right now. Using VPN service.

E-girls, miwa. :heart

Yeah, geographical restrictions limit to Japan. Much like Super Bowl online streaming, which is currently restricted to the USA...

White team's 3rd consecutive win at this year's Kohaku

Quote:

The annual New Year's Eve music program "The 65th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen" was live-broadcasted from NHK Hall, Tokyo.

This year, the white team won the singing battle for the 3rd consecutive year, and Arashi's Ohno Satoshi received the championship flag.

Overall, the white team has 36 wins in all, while the red team has a total of 29 wins.

The theme of this year's Kohaku was "Let's sing. Everyone participate on New Year's Eve!"

The host for the white team was served by Arashi, and Yoshitaka Yuriko for the red team.
http://www.tokyohive.com/article/201...s-years-kohaku

ARASHI please don't host Kohaku again in 2015 ~_~

Bigtop 1st January 2015 02:40 AM

Doggone it. I think AKB48 messed up, Arashi capitalized it. White team deserved to win that, I felt AKB48 was "boring" and Arashi just kicked some butt. Much like how the Packers won NFC North back in 2013 over the Bears...

I have to wonder if adding Nogizaka46 will help the red team to victory again, because we've been seeing too much white team "dynasty" - can we just get rid of Arashi from being host??? They celebrated their 15th anniversary this year, but there needs to be some way to counter that! Karen, I agree with you...

:yes

I'm getting "ARASICK" of Arashi hosting. You messed up Johnny's Countdown, well to a point that even Fuji TV doesn't want to pick it up this year...

AyuGAME 1st January 2015 06:35 AM

i feel that AKB48 performance is so boring as well...and other massive group...we can saw huge different between them and E-girls...

Arashi is ok..but for me Yoshitaka Yuriko did worst...

Zemus 1st January 2015 10:01 AM

I think that Arashi, surprise appearance from Southern All Stars (31 years since last time!!!!), Fukuyama Masaharu and more swayed the favor to the white team as usual.

Yoshitaka Yuriko did worst? Really? (hope you are not comparing her to Arashi here, not exactly a fair comparison) I thought she did okay from what I heard on radio, but yeah, haven't watched the actual footage yet. At least I preferred her over Ayase Haruka last year. Also, this was her first time hosting any show. And that being Kouhaku to boot.

Well, too bad that red team lost. Especially for the girls ↓↓↓

So true.

As for the show I really enjoyed Akina. She sang really well and I was really happy to see her in a good physical condition. I can't lie and say Seiko's performance was a bit disappointing as I really would've preferred a nice medley of her 80s hits as Missing You has gotten old but she still did a great job.

Zemus 2nd January 2015 12:06 AM

Yeah, it was great to see Akina still around and well.

As for Seiko. I too, would have preferred another song choice. Missing You had been performed twice on Kouhaku already. But, I am glad she somewhat nailed it in the end. Felt she was nervous all evening.

Yakushimaru Hiroko was tense too and couldn't deliver her best perhaps. I was very much looking forward to Woman "W no Higeki" yori. One beautiful song composed by Yuming. Gotta love her angelic type of voice even now 30 years later. Has always been unique!

Why is it not even fun anymore? Too much domination by the white team? Ayu doesn't want to be in the Kouhaku anymore? Any reason?
