Well I don't think she cares much about how she sells of her remix albums. She doesn't even shoot jacket covers for them. I think they're more for her diehard fans compared to her regular albums with compilations being the main hitter she has with casual fans.

Agreed! I wasn't surprised this would not compete with "AAA" releases such as Sandaime J Soul Brothers from EXILE TRIBE, and I do agree...it's not for everyone. Don't expect this to perform well compared to those "AAA" releases, and I have a feeling this might not end up in the top ten after all...

Oh well. I guess we can say at least it charted, lol.

It's a remix album... Even at her peak remix albums never really sold all that much...

Really guys, if I remember correctly even MY STORY Classical didn't managed to sell 100k (ok, Wikipedia says it sold 82k. I don't know, is that correct?).
And she still released A Classical and LOVE CLASSICS.

This album is for people who needs to sleep better.
This album can put people into sleep.

The album is #3 on Recochoku and #11 on iTunes right now. It's important to remember that more casual fans tend to buy everything digitally (Love Classics is 1000 yen cheaper digitally), and her digital rankings have been great lately.

I think the ayu-mi-x 7 series sold around 20k each? And that was 2011. It's extremely sad but I get it. I just hope it's selling well digitally?

I can't say I'm surprised but its not such a tragedy. Maybe it will sell 3,000 - 4,000 copies in the first week.

It would have been a tragedy if it didn't even make to top 100 on Weekly Charts, Kumi's last remix album sold 8k overall and I think LOVE CLASSICS can manage to sell around 6k, which is pretty good.

She's still selling more than Ami Suzuki. Sleigh a bit Ayu.

I have a feeling she might have a better time in the digital charts than the physical charts. Oricon, why are you not changing your habits?

It's practically the most accurate way we can determine what Ayu's sales will be on a release these days. We pretty much wait for Koda's numbers and then expect ~10% less for Ayu. The only thing Koda hasn't outsold Ayu on consistently is singles.

Quick question.. From what little I follow charts and rankings these days it seems to me Ayu is more successful than Kuu is digitally. True or no?

Because nobody cares about digital sales it's just 16% of total music market (CDs+digital)

You can always check RIAJ's yearly books to learn how japanese digital market sucks ;)

ayu is still selling better than almost all other solo females in single sales.

People in Japan are tired of ayu classical and acoustic orchestra songs, maybe?.
But it's not a bad present for valentine.
Maybe A LOVE compilation with all the love songs of ayu + DVD will be a better idea xD who knows...

ayu had the 3 remix albums set back in 2003 when she still sold a million per album and they sold around 35,000 each. There is no need to expect more than this. It's very normal and decent sales for such a release, for this period and for ayu.

Only the most hardcore of fans would buy this (almost like Terminal single). I got a copy myself because I got all of her classical (remix) albums. (Meaning MY STORY classical, A CLASSICAL and LOVE CLASSICS).

Actually that sounds really good. They can even add powder snow which I love (squealing)

On the bright side, at least it's not her lowest charting album! (RMX works from ayu-mi-x 5 non-stop mega mix holds that title, peaking @ #18) Hopefully this can pass the 10k mark.

The sales are pretty much decent imo. And if you compare this release to A CLASSICAL, you need to remember that A CLASSICAL was part of the five consecutive releases to celebrate the 15th anniversary, and it's clear that this helped the sales!
