I actually like both the songs; I still pretend that BRIGHTER DAY never happened though.

The PV was a bit on the boring side to me
but I still love that coat.

I'm surprised at all the negativity. This single is innofensive. Nothing special but she's had worse. Especially after the awful Brighter Day. And yay for Black Make Up being the theme for OP, it really fits the mood. Anime-ish and playful.

Red Carpet is good but it just doesn't go nowhere, it's such a watered-down bside-ish song... Indeed not bad but could have been much better, specially with that title. No opinions about Black Make Up so far tho cause I havent got to listen to it yet

Yeah i'm not accepting the hate for BRIGHTER DAY, i find it to be a much superior song compared to Red Carpet.
The PV was cute, but very White Light meets Love Story and we've seen that concept already. It did match the song though, you'd think a song titled "Red Carpet" would need an extravagant hollywood inspired music video but considering how the song is so happy go lucky, it fits.

I don't like Red Carpet. But I fall in love with Black Make Up. At least this single has something I like.

No, because this is finally a release that I trully love and I now I can happily forget the existence of most of the songs from _genic (I barely even remember how most of those songs sound anymore).

BRIGHTER DAY is ok, but I never feel like listing to it...

Brighter Day is so much better than Red Carpet.

Black Make Up is so much better than Red Carpet, too, but then it still did not have a music video, just like Violet Sauce/White Light single.

The boring songs always get the MV. I really don't know why she would decide to waste money on songs that can be sung by any singer around the world while leave the cool ones that can define her uniqueness with nothing.

For me it's the complete opposite. But, oh well, opinions...

It's not like Namie's PVs tend to be a big deal anyway. I find most of her PVs boring, but I've come to get used to them and like them anyway... I think both pvs from BRIGHTER DAY and Red Carpet specially boring though and I ignore their existence.

I think Japanese public will like the songs, lol

White Light is so nice during Xmas season. Violet Sauce is also a good song. Anyone like the Violet Sauce (Anotha Recipe)? I think I like it more than the original.

Oh my gosh I screamed through this entire article. They went IN and came for Ayu and Kumi. Genic isn't Namie's best by any means but the amount of dragging and lashings, it's too much. To be fair, kumi has finally found herself and ayu is doing what she knows best.

This whole article just sounds old... most of the things it talked about are happening for quite a few years already and are not even news anymore. If they wanted to talk about Namie having "solidified her position as the country’s premier female pop star", they should have done so a couple of years ago when her sales where actually higher, and not now that her new album actually had a big drop from her previous releases (even if it did still have impressive sales).

Plus, saying _genic is solid and miles ahead of A ONE or WOML? _genic is way too generic to be miles ahead of anything... (I still like it, but it's a weak album imo).

What do you guys consider to be Namie's winter songs? The only songs that evoke winter in the traditional mode are probably these : Can You Celebrate? (1997), I Will (2002) , White Light (2005) / Nobody (2007) and Tsuki (2014). Ballads like Love Story, Beautiful and arigatou come close.

But I'm the type that prefers unconventional cool pieces for this winter like : present, A Walk In The Park, How to Be a Girl, Ningyo etc.

White light is her best winter song. As has been said before, Namie sounds absolutely miserable over a hot little jingle beat. It's everything tbh.

Violet Sauce didn't do well in Japan. It is one of the least favorite songs in the album. Japanese liked cute-pop songs more than rock-ish songs at the time.

no I read it correct. Wrong English here "I hope BM is the lead single" indicates that you don't know it yet and want it to be. What you want to say is something in past tense like "I wished". Thats why I misundersood it.

This looks interesting. :) My only qualm with Namie has been that her recent tours seem very plain compared to Koda or Ayu. But Namie is also the only one I'm fairly certain is 100% live. I'm curious what LIVEGENIC will be like when the video release comes around. I'm sure Namie will far from disappoint.

I've really been into this new single today. Its simple, fun and I don't know ..animeish and playful. Kinda plain with just 2 instrumentals but at least we have a bside.
I agree, Black Make-up is more catchy than Red Carpet.

The covers look so cheap :dead2 And I don't quite get what's going on with the filling of the font, it looks like that spray thing from Paint

You can barely read anything... They should have removed this gigantic title, and let the cover 'plain', with just putting the title in a corner, or at least, making it legible !

Actually, maybe the font is in "gold" ink, so that it stands out and it's more legible on the real object.

Nope, the HQ quality didn't save those for me, the way they did the writing is atrocious.

I dont really like the Missingno font either. This obsession with plastering images with text is annoying.

Just got back from her concert in Nagoya!

It was my first time seeing her, and loved her :D She looked bored at first, but smiled more as the concert went on :P I generally really liked the setlist too. What I Did For Love was an odd choice to open the show.

I've been to a lot of concerts and think this is the first I've been to with no MC. The only time she spoke was to say thanks at the end. Even so, she was on for a good 2 hours, and it was a great show!

I'm glad she did some of my favourite songs! Photogenic, Sit Stay Wait Down, Naked, Sweet Kisses, and Anything were highlights for me :D
