(lyrics) Many Classic Moments

Ayu didn't write them, but I think some of you might still like a translation. Original lyrics by Tetsuya Komuro, rap by MARC.

Many Classic Moments

When I look back at things now,
I guess it’s marvellous and strange yet nostalgic?
I had fallen ill, not in my mind or body,
no, it was the position I was in
I was simply getting swept away by the wind,
gravity had gone missing
When I looked at myself from afar,
it was as if I was floating in space

Hurting others, being hurt
Letting go, being abandoned
If everything will end someday
If everything will only last a little longer
then give me a moment,
one second would be enough

Stay with me, if it’s you
Stay with me, it has to be you
Kiss me, if it’s you
Kiss me, it has to be you
Hold on, even if you’re unsure,
if you’re going to disappear someday
Hold on, I don’t mind
if we’d disappear together someday

Maybe it’s not too late yet?
Maybe I can still walk?
Maybe I can still create it?
Woven, painted heaven

Stay with me, if it’s you
Stay with me, it has to be you
Kiss me, if it’s you
Kiss me, it has to be you

I found a castle, we built it together
It’s not made of sand, it’s not Cinderella’s
it’s made out of memories
I’ll continue to live there alone
until the bells announcing the end of the world ring
Stay with me, if it’s you
Stay with me, it has to be you

Oh, many classic moments
Oh, many classic moments

Rap (not included in Ayu's version):
Spoiler:
Take the time to close your eyes
The sky is dark
The wind is cold
The time has come
Every trace is gone
With a low whisper
Breathing heavily
Future drawn in sand
Nobody can erase it

There’s a place in my heart
Looking for a magic kiss
Let’s go out and feel the night
We could dream this night away

As long as we live
Shaking in the wind
To the last gasp

Ahh, I've wanted to see a translation for this song for years already, thank you SO MUCH!! :heart The lyrics are lovely, they really fit the mood of the song.

freedreamer 12th December 2015 04:01 PM

not sure why but when translated it feels like something Ayu would write (in her earlier days) haha

DevilsClap 12th December 2015 04:15 PM

^ I thought the same after reading that.

Thank you for the translation. I wanted to know what the song is about.

Thank you! I couldn't find a translation anywhere.

Thank you for the translation :D These do sound a bit like Ayu lyrics. Are these typical Japanese lyrical sentiments?

Very much in line with the emotion of the song. I always felt it had a pleading quality to it; desperation at the face of loss.

TK's lyrics are amazing. I love them so much. Thanks for the translation. :)

These are pretty amazing lyrics

It's easy to see why Ayu would pick this song, you can tell she relates to its sentiments for sure. Same thing with "Movin' on without you," you just know this is a song that made her go "omg YES, that is EXACTLY how I feel right now!" when she first heard it. Both songs have things that she's talked about, it seems like these songs remind her of things that are happening or have happened to her personally. Like there's something to the lyrics of this... when you remove the romantic implications it's very much like how she seems to feel in songs like "Sorrows" and "progress" and stuff.

You're welcome y'all :)

They indeed share a similar writing style. In this song, at least. TK makes each stanza(?) a coherent whole -like a long sentence- just like Ayu does. Makes translating a lot easier. Some artists just sing a jumble of words and it's a pain to rephrase in English :laugh

thank you!

Thanks, nice lyrics.

Thank you very much!

I've always found this songs structure similar to/reminiscent of SURREAL. Which might be why I instantly liked this song upon first hearing it.

SURREAL is a song that I never grow tired of.

Thanks for the translation ;)

That's really interesting- thank you :D I love knowing these extra details.

Nice lyrics. Thank you.

tsumekaze_ 13th December 2015 06:59 PM

I think she can really relate to this lyrics, that's why she probably chose this song.
I also tought that it seems as if she had written them herself, sounds very much like something she would actually write

Elednist 13th December 2015 08:01 PM

Thanks you so much for that translation. I always wanted to know what the lyrics of this songs where saying, I thought this was a very tragic song and I was right, they are marvellous and they clearly fit to Ayu's world. I'm now waiting to here this on tour, it can be a very dark interpretation.

ayu-michan 13th December 2015 08:32 PM

I've always felt like Ayu was hugely influenced by TK and KEIKO. Her voice technique and writing style in her lyrics are very similar to globe, though it was only at the beginning of Ayu's career (2000's) until she was able to find her own style :) Thank you so much for translating, I've been desperate of globe's lyrics for so so long because globe isn't as well-known in the West like Ayu (not to mention, pretty old band).

tokyoxjapanxfan 13th December 2015 11:00 PM

Well I don't know how much of this was Ayu's choice vs. meeting fans requests.

Earlier in the year a bunch of people were messaging TK about wanting Ayu to cover it, and he replied saying she was into the idea--before any mention of a tribute album.

That being said, she certainly could have always liked the song. :-)

tenshi no hane 15th December 2015 05:40 PM

I cut out the rap part because it's not included in Ayu's version. (the song is already available on japanese itunes)
