Gackt Camui (神威 楽斗 Kamui Gakuto?, born July 4, 1973), better known by his stage name GACKT, is a musician, singer, songwriter and actor. He has been active since 1993, first as the frontman of the short-lived independent band Cains:Feel, and then for the now defunct visual kei rock band Malice Mizer, before starting his solo career in 1999. He has released nine studio albums and, with forty-six singles released, holds the male soloist record for most top ten consecutive singles in Japanese music history. His single "Returner (Yami no Shūen)", released on June 20, 2007, was his first single to reach the number one spot on the Oricon charts. He became the first Japanese artist to release his music catalog on iTunes in October 2007.

Second song is sooo GHOST rip off

^it's like... i don't even have words for this shit. I have to admit that this sounds fresher than anything else on that album, or actually anything else from his latest stuff. Which is ridiculous, cuz it does make me think of GHOST too, it's just on steroids lol

as you sad artcika this knockoff of GHOST sure sounds interesting from the rest of the album. There are songs that are good on the album but as a standalone tracks and unfortunately we already heard them a couple of years ago.
It's really unfortunate

so i'm listening to the new album now and, well, 傀儡が如くis the only one that stands out. BUT i also kind of enjoy Koi no Friday, BUT i hate that drum line they did. It's a heavy metal one and annoys me to no end. It's a really uplifting track though.

The キミだけのボクでいるから has the vocals that reminds me of some of his older stuff. I kind of enjoy it too. Nothing special though.

^ i did mention a song that is new but was only sung live and will be only included in the live CD. so it probably is that track you're hearing there. That's quite a track from the preview. Typical GACKT but sounds quite grandiose. Why couldn't he include this into the album instead of say any other n years old one? pfft...

I'm late to the party and listened to the album just today. I was so happy when it was announced but now I'm truly disappointed. None of the songs stand out for me, it's as if all the creativity I so loved about his music is gone. Maybe I will like a few songs in the end, but there surely won't be anything I love. I waited so many years for a new GACKT album and what did I get? Some generic stuff mostly which he has done in the past already just better and more creative.

That brilliant creative Gackt is long gone and its so tragic. He needs to lsten to his old stuff and remember how great he was.

But how is his tour "a world" tour when all the dates are in Japan?

That song is a very typical G track but it is nice. I think the vocals are somewhat reminiscent of some of his older stuff. I really like it. It had that little bit of old experimental GACKT in it shinning through.

yeah he's been giving same stuff since i dunno 2009? Like his stuff isn't bad at all but it all sounds the same now. I actually am blaming YFC a little bit cuz after that he went that route completely. I have a feeling it influenced his instrumentations A LOT.
I remember when i started discovering him back in the day all his stuff was so intriguing and distinct that every song could have stood a storm. Now it's either symphonic rock or punk influenced tracks.

As for the tour having a "world" in there, i think we might get a second leg of it maybe next summer or something, cuz i mean he would need to shift some stuff around to adjust it for smaller venues if he's REALLY going worldwide. And he needs a break because he keeps complaining how his voice is gone all the time. Dude needs some vocal lessons for realz. I wonder if he even had any?

In other news he somehow keeps being relevant and showing up in media. He was a special secret guess at the DEADPOOL movie premiere in Japan as well as he had a chat with Yoshiki on Nico Nico just a few days ago. Oh and he also launched a fragrance on his official online store. Cannot find any english info on that though, saw it a few days ago somewhere.

It's been a long time since I heard any new song from Gackt and I didn't keep up with his news for a while. But when I was in Japan last month I saw a truck promoting his latest album which got me excited. Sadly I didn't get the chance to buy his album though.

Anyway, I listened to "Lulling" and it's addicting <3

That is very true. Im more a fan of his dramatic songs but kimi no tame ni dekiru koto is too good. So, yeah, either way would definitely be good. I guess it'll be a coin flip. Looking forward to it either way. :P

i cannot believe i'm gonna say it, but I'm craving for something super simple from him, like just an acoustic guitar and his vocals, like Arittake no ai de or something similar. He's been doing the same thing for the past few years. I still cannot give him up, i still have hope that he will shine again, hence why i keep complaining that he's not impressing me anymore. lol

Gave my friend who's trained vocalist to listen to G's Seki Ray live from the early tours. She said he's got strong vocals, and he has really beautiful low notes. Surprisingly, she said he sounds like a folk singer, that his vibrato is coming from his throat not his chest, which is exactly in that style as well (now i know why i sometimes feel like something is missing, it's the other kind of vibrato!). Then it hit me - he does have enka background! I myself completely forgot about it until she mentioned that lol! I love when people know what they're talking about.

GACKT actually took Ayu's SEASONS and ran with it lol. As far as i could get out of this from various places this is going to be a promo thing for the Nestlé's newest coffee machine. And apparently have filmed a music video for the cover of the song which is going to be out on the first day of the new year.

Gackt will be starring in the upcoming movie Karanukan. This will be his first time he is playing the lead role in a film since Moon Child. It was filmed on location in Okinawa. It will be in theaters in Japan on March 10, 2018. I can't find any information about if it will be released outside of Japan with English subtitles. Hopefully it will be!:luv2

^I was a massive Gackt fan until the re:born album. I hate it when artists release singles then throw them all together and call it an album (aside from rehashes there's basically no new music on the album). After that his career gets confusing and messy.

It's not confusing, it's non-existent, he's doing random shit nowadays, like whatever gets thrown at him, and is at least a little bit of his liking.

I really used to like Gackt and his persona but earlier this year he posted something on Instagram that quite triggered me. He posted a picture with talent model Roland and used the hashtag "#we'renotgay". I don't know where this comes from, but it sounds like people thinking that they are gay is a bad thing, a very alpha male thing to do. Taking in consideration that part of his career was "pretending" that he liked boys (Moon Child, all the fanservice in the concerts, etc etc) it's very weird for him to say that now...

He's said and done some stupid shit. I'm not sure why he would need to proclaim that, but maybe he's just fed up with that image he used to give off and now just wants to get rid of it. But then again, everyone who's ever seen him on any variety show knows that he's into women, so i don't get it either. His words and ideas make no sense sometimes, like he lost the logic.

I also really used to like him as a teen but as I grew older I was very put off by his constant alpha male behaviour and how he was giving advice on sex for men like every other day. His advices actually made me weep for all the women who had to put up with him during sex and even the last bit of a crush I may have had on him during my teenage years was gone immediately. lol
Therefore I'm really not surprised by this (sadly).

I wasn't as bothered with his alpha male BS, most of the time it just amused me. He's got some decent manners and knows right from wrong when it comes to the ladies, but like the older he gets the more ridiculous it's turning to be.
Also anyone who's been a GACKT fan for a long time won't be surprised by anything at this point, we're so immune to his crap it's like "get over yourself, mate!" lol

Anybody have any clue to the set list for the new tour?

Why is GACKT's Instagram (@gackt) verified but 'private' (protected; must follow before viewing posts) since sometime in December 2018???

^that's interesting. I've been following him since he showed up on Insta, had no idea he's set it to private. Although with him posting a hell of a lot of pretty much nudes, i can understand that :D

The only thing recently that he did that made me smile was him meeting up and catching up with HYDE. That was lovely to see them in one photo!

Also he's constantly saying that his throat is fucked after shows, even back in the day i remember him writing in an e-mail that his voice is gone. He needs to stop with bad technique.

^topless is an understatement xD Like if you go lower you'd see everything.... that's how topless he is in some pictures xD But yeah he's posted a lot of after shower selfies. Not anymore though, but he used to do that a LOT when he first popped up on insta. I was so amused lol His profile consists of old material aka music/live clips, training videos and a few random selfies sprinkled here and there with occasional promo posts. You are not missing a lot. He seems to have another account too, which is also set to private, i assume that one is run by his staff or something, but it's still not public. It's weird.

As for his Instagram, it has been private for quite a while now. I don't know why he did that. I believe I started following him while it was still public. To be honest, I don't keep up with Gackt's social media very much because he keeps posting workout videos endlessly. They are funny but I'm tired of them.:tipsy

So..... My friend went to his anniversary live and boy was she...erm...angry??? lol
First of all, ticket prices are out of this world. The lowest is 10,000yen and up, when his R&R|| tour was like 7800yen and was of MUCH higher production value and quality..she said premium as he always had, is 30,000 for this, and now he has DIAMOND which apparently has a "meet&greet" included...But um, that shit's.........60,000yen LOL (who the fuck he thinks he is? The Beatles????) The whole "meet and greet" though, is just a fancy name, cuz all you get is according to her friends who did have that, is standing in a shady hallway with a group of other fans waiting for an hour to be let in, and when you do, he just goes by giving high-fives to each person not even looking at them, you have a group photo taken with him without ANY chit chat or words exchanged and that's IT. FOR 60,000 FUCKING YEN!!
She said she and another girl she's with is debating to go or not to the rest of the shows that she's got (i think she's got like 3 more, one of which is premium) BECAUSE, according to her, the show, turned the great stuff that he did in his carrer into some weird, sometimes borderline cringy experiences and felt like he was literally mocking his whole career, which seems to be the theme in this tour and that his whole approach on the things he's used to be so passionate about is REALLY bothering her, considering it's a 20 year anniversary of his career!. She said she wanted to sell the tickets but apparently the shows are not selling out and you can still get the tickets on the day of the concert. The saddest part of this is, she added - Chacha and You are gone, HE SAID NOTHING, NOWHERE. She ended up saying that she feels like he's becoming an ego centric douchbag for her to even consider flying to Japan for any of his upcoming projects in the future.

Now let me tell you, this girl i've known for a decade, she's been a devoted fan, frequently going to japan for his concerts and for her to say that, it's not good.... I mean i've seen stuff coming, but, i really thought he would make this right, like i had no idea he would part ways with his "comrades", people who stood on the same stage supporting him for more than a decade and wouldn't say a word about it. I don't know i just find it weird. And to add to that, to mock things that actually gave him the name he's known for? I mean i don't know....Although making a joke out of "big news" with some music snippet playing on last years aprils fools' was a sign that music career has became a bit of a joke for him. I mean it all could be just a PPOV but he has changed, and a LOT.

Honestly i am so conflicted about how I feel about him now, like, one part of me is sad, angry and confused as to WTF happened to him, and the other still has hope he's gonna come back with something really good that will make everyone remember what he was known for. I'm so on the fence right now...

^tbf it is his career and he can mock it and since he was always over the top this could also be quiet funny. fans who get angry about that are way too serious. Moreover he wouldn't be the first artist ever to complete departure from ways off doing something, even hating it and make it verbal.

That said, what do Japanese fans say? I would like to hear some other opinions.

My friend actually ended up changing her mind after going to a few more, and said that "apart from a few odd choices, it was a solid, typical GACKT concert" she added that it made her look at it in a less "wtf" way because she knew what she was in for for the rest of the dates that she attended and quite enjoyed those.. Although she's still said the pricing is mad for what it is. lol

Just realised Gackt's concerts have been uploaded to YouTube too. I have never seen one of his tours before so started with Training Days 2006. What a setlist - Fragance, Emu ~For My Dear~, Ash

Well,since Gackt was so generous for uploading all of his live concerts on YouTube I finally had the chance to watch the last two.
I have got to say that both live concerts Last Moon and Khaos were such a chore to sit and watch through I ended up fast forwarding both concerts.
From Last Moon I only liked LULLING and Setsugekka even though I am totally sure he lip synced during both of these performances. Last Moon surely had a budget going on behind it but the story is just so boring.
And it seems that he kinda just ran with the idea of using that Moon Saga theatrical play as a basis for his tour.
I am aware that it is about Yoshitsune a great swordsman and general but man those were some cringeworthy moments. And his acting is like straight out of those Hindi TV shows with constant stareing between actors with no lines spoken.
Khaos was like even worse. I didn't like it at all.
Saving grace of the concert for me was when a bunch of sexy shirtless dudes came up on stage and I was pretty much staring at them while they were up there.
At one point he was just screaming at the audience back and forth I know that he was trying to pump the atmosphere but that was just too damn long.
I was expecting something grand because he was celebrating his anniversary but instead it was really something subpar. I still like him and his music and I know that he still has it , but this is not it.
