Nodody shared his/her view on Merry Christmas and the overall Dear Bride single? I already said that I love Dear Bride; About Merry Christmas I was very and positively surprised. I thought we would get the same sweet and cute style than Christmas Love. The song is sober and just some christmas typical sounds here and there. I like the trumpet that give a original sound. She seems to be a steady seller and still a download favourite, so I guess she is save like forever (because her old hits are stilll selling), but as a fan, amixup in sound would be nice.

I've been listening to kana since i was 14 or so, and at that time I was happy with her doing the same thing over and over but now I can't become to like her new music at all, I listened to the last album once and the same with the new single (except for that version of kimi ga suki, it's beautiful). I take back my words from some years ago and say, I would really love her doing something different, musically and lyrically, she has an amazing voice and potential and I don't think she is exploiting it.

I'm happy for her, she did really well on all charts and Just LOVE is getting more sales again now with the exposure of all the year-end shows. She should def. be able to get to over 300k with this album

^A lot of her songs are inspired by country since Darling. You can't deny it. Some specificities of this style are clearly mixed with Jpop characteristics to make them more mainstream and listenable to the general audience.

They just announced Kana's first dome tour to celebrate her 10th anniversary since debut. I was always wondering when she'd finally have a dome concert and now they made it into a dome tour and I'm so happy about it.

The pineapple above her head is the cutest thing ever! And she looks so beautiful! The PVs are terrible, though. It would seem Kana is still void of a personality. And the dance version looks like it was choreographed by kindergarteners. Although, based on that video of her performing at a school I would assume that's her new target audience.

I was so pumped to hear Work, but honestly it's not that different from her past stuff. It's still in the vein of the sweet, cute pop music she's been making lately. I'm hoping she's gonna make another change in her direction of music. During her debut she made some really interesting sounding pop music, and I LIVED for her R&B days. I'm not really feeling her current era. But, she's growing and changing so I'm still interested in what the future holds.

I also have to say that I'm not feeling her present era.
Since My Place it's kind of like she changed to a monotone style that is different than the toLOVE/Thank you, My Love era which was my favorite, and it's the "country", normal unoriginal pop and ballads that are written mainly for the female fans. Dear Bride and some other random songs like I wanna see you dance and HOLIDAY are still nice, but lyrically to songs like Dear bride, or most of her songs I lyrically cannot relate to since I'm a guy. I don't mind feminist/girl power songs or rarely releasing a song meant for girls but I can't relate to the kana which 99% of the time write for girls (even though I'll be there is my favorite kana song and it's between girl friends lol that song is just amazing though). I could relate to her love songs like motto..., aitakute and others, but now that most of her songs are talking about womenhood, or are just jumpy normal pop songs, and almost lost all the sound of the older kana, she kinda lost me. I have all of her original albums until now, even Just LOVE, but I'm not sure if I will buy the next one. Her voice is still awesome but voice alone is not enough to keep me interested. |
There will be a new release by Kana at the end of July (26th July) called "Girls" and it will be the theme song of a new Professor Layton Game or something. I don't know, I don't trust my Japanese skills, but I'll add all the information. As usual there will also be two B-sides and everything looks promising so far ♪
