If you're not a TA member already, you can't take part in the first round of the lottery, which means it's very likely you're not getting ticket for 12/31 show, since it's always featured in the very first round only. Nice work with announcing beforehand, AVEX.

Earth_maiden 7th November 2016 10:27 AM

Ayu needs to slow down and pay more attention to details like this. But I sort of get the impression that she's putting all her focus into TA right now with less focus on aspects that aren't in TA. Does that make sense?

So the first round of lottery will only for those have joined TA before 6 November?

Curious the theme for this CDL... and I'm thinking about her 20th anniversary already XD

So is AVEX, they've been pushing this anniversary thing for years now :-)
For me it still feels like a long road ahead.

truehappiness 7th November 2016 11:08 AM

The final Yoyogi shows for a good while... Hope they're awesome!

voguehoney 7th November 2016 11:12 AM

Next year yoyogi stadium will be closed until 2020,so this is the final CDL or CDL17-18 choose another stadium example yokohama stadium ?

I don't think Ayu take part in such decisions like the day they will announce CDL... It's avex job and we know that avex is such a mess.

Can't wait to know the theme of this year!

AyuGAME 7th November 2016 02:52 PM

I wonder where she will held her show next year...

I though that there will be no CDL this year..really late announcement, glad that they still held this and do it in three days..

Katsuyuki012 7th November 2016 03:08 PM

I wonder if they just leave it with CDL16-17 A and not a special theme for it. Like I would understand it because of not much time for preparing (+maybe no new ideas which are good) the concert because of the TA Tour etc.. Like, I would prefer it that way than having a theme but not enough time or not a good theme. Of course if she still can manage that it's great too! Actually, I think there's no Ayu tour/CDL with a theme which ended in a total mess btw..

theme is always announced later, if I read correctly on the website, it says that the title is temporary! So we will have a new theme, we just have to wait a little longer!

//ABEST 7th November 2016 05:37 PM

i really REALLY hope she doesn't do this CDL to AT theme again :tired i'm full of them already

Yea, I know (I mean the later announcement of the theme) but yea I don't speak Japanese so I thought she hasn't a theme for this CDL probably because of the deadline! Still thanks for telling me!

Get ready for the albums we dont need, like 20th anniversary album collection with a mug at $800 :P
I hope they do something exciting instead of throwing her old stuff together to make someting that looks new.

Refix 7th November 2016 11:39 PM

^Amen for that. Be careful though, coz I always think either Ayu or her staff lurking around in this forum as anonymous or other. They might reconsider your idea lol
I wonder what new song she might to introduce. That if she recording in the studio atm.

tokyoxjapanxfan 7th November 2016 11:40 PM

CDL has always been very strict about the deadline for TA member registration and CDL.

I'm so sad I won't be able to go to this...

The description of it makes me feel like I'll be missing a really important CDL :-(

And tbh after the renovations who's to say she'll be able to get the spot again :-/

I suppose there's a chance for another best of CDL?

EndOfTheWorld 8th November 2016 12:13 AM

I think there will still be a theme for this Countdown but I do hope that it is maybe more stripped back and relaxed. More focus on the performance than the spectacle or show since she's been doing that all year.
I like when artists do something relaxed every once in a while.:yes
As long as the circus theme is finally done I'll be happy. I'm sick of that.:roflmao

AyuGAME 8th November 2016 01:38 AM

I think TA tour pretty much very relaxed and performance focus concert

Maybe this is the theme: ayumi hamasaki COUNTDOWN LIVE 2016-2017 A - 20th Anniversary Best of the best -

RealLight 8th November 2016 02:48 AM

I still want another PCDL.

CDL to AT theme seems to be her thing as of recent, before it was the peachy pink coloured cd cover art. She also loves to start and end a concert with the same costume (AT15 - Red coat and pink dress, AT16 - White kimono dress)

Isicio 8th November 2016 04:02 AM

Countdown Live 2013-2014 doesn't have a theme, so why don't do this again?
Anyway "Countdown Live 2016-2017 A -We are the QUEENS~" will be a fun title xD

I miss a new physical release this year, but well maybe she will release another classical thing album, but I will like some single with new tracks and remixes, like the LOVE again fiasco but with We are the QUEENS instead of You&Me xD

They gave 18 days for fans to join.

I think something that could be nice for it would be doing something like Namie did with Ballada - shooting PVs for songs that didn't get one before. We could finally get PVs for hanabi, independant etc. Although I would really want her to bring her A game for the PVs again though...

That's what the description makes it sounds like it will be. And honestly, the variation in the setlists from the TA tour means that she already has enough songs prepared to throw them all together for an epic length CDL.

Based on show start time it's gonna be usual length. But they have a right to change the time, so we'll see.

Maybe, but it would be problematic for people to return home and also to go to bed relatively early.

Fair enough.

Though after 17 years, I guess what I meant is that most people would know by now that CDL info gets released usually in Oct/November, and if they were going to join TA solely for being able to apply for tickets, it's already a well known thing that there's a deadline. So joining sooner than later would be the safest thing.

But for fairness sake, you're totally right.

stepYOU1234 8th November 2016 11:32 AM

I'm not a fan of the CDL theme carrying over to the arena tour but I wonder if it is more Avex telling Ayu to do it to keep the budget down.

I think it is happening for many reasons, mainly it requires less work and money.

kaled kalil 8th November 2016 12:07 PM

I don't think the budget is the main issue, as for the stage sometimes she used pretty much the same thing from the CDL to the AT and it was fine, the problem is when the concert is basically the same, but with less time to be prepared.

I hope this is a good concert, 2009-2010 was the last CDL that I really enjoyed, because it's more like her older CDLs, so I hope it's more like this than 2014-2015 and 2015-2016.

It would only end up being a late show on the last date and it's new years eve. Trains run later and in Tokyo most people end up staying up all night anyway, so it really wouldn't be much of a difference.

I even think that her audience is looking quite young. Most of them are probably in their twenties, but I also saw a lot of teenagers... I think getting new fans is not the problem, but losing her old ones.

I guess it's because when new fans get into Ayu with e.g. M(A)DE IN JAPAN and other new stuff, they fell in love with new Ayu and not with 2000's Ayu (at least at the beginning). Even if they don't like her old music they can be like "well now she does cool music" etc. and follow her from that point of her career. As from what I know many of her old fans have "outgrown" her and don't like the recent music because it's not the Ayu they fell in love with. Tbh with me as a young and back then new fan I first just liked my name's WOMEN and new stuff but then after I got warm with them I fell in love with nearly all her songs no matter how old! Like SIGNAL is just WOW for example. Sorry for going a bit off topic here...

What? I think is completely the opposite. When I attended the M(A)de in Japan tour the audience was quite... middle age. People her age. I was even surprised to see people around 50.

I don't get what you want to say with that! I meant it as she gets some new fans an loses many old with her current music etc.. But of course the most of her fans are her "hardcore" fans since years... Like I didn't mean it as she has tons of new fans, though from the footages the fans look quite young! But I agree with fans getting more and more quiet... Like on CdM DVD during GAME there was like nearly no screaming for such a great perfomance...

Both GAME and BRILLIANTE were followed by loud applause though. Was there for both. When ayu is performing the Japanese tend to remain silent and watch the performance until the very end.

There is a lot of both Japanese and other Asian ayu fans which are young. Her concerts do have a lot of people from different age groups as far as I've noticed.

Back then fans freaked out for a "bang" during the show like if that's more impressive as aerial acrobatics, well time changes but at least she got big screams for Immature AT15 but I wonder if the GAME thing has something to do with knowing it from CDL because there people were louder... Nevermind! But did I mention Brilliante?

Although it is extremely difficult to tell Japanese women's ages. From my experience I feel that most of her audience is mid 20s at the youngest to late 30s. The majority being somewhere in their 30s.

You're right. I think you can guess their age by their behaviour though. I'm pretty sure there were a lot of teens, the age from mid 20 to 30s is giving me more trouble.

Anyway, I guess the age of her fans is not really important. I didn't want to start a discussion! :)

It's okay. :) We can have a healthy discussion about it. And I'm just speaking from my experience living over there and the general impression I have going to her shows.

I would be surprised if there were more than a handful of teenage fans. She really isn't popular among the younger crowds.
Like I said, judging Japanese ages is hard because from a western perspective they can look very young despite their age and usually Japanese women will change their attitude depending on the situation. Let me put it this way, I'm 33 and the majority of my friends over there are in their 20s/30s and I see them look and act like teens all the time (at least from a western perspective). lol. The culture of being "cute" and acting that way extends far past the teen years there.

Yep, meaning that they are there with their mothers and their mothers are likely in their 30s. (the amount of women having children young in their 20s is pretty low in Japan)

Unfortunately she lost her appeal to teens quite some time ago.

Well, after almost 20 years of a career without stop, this is pretty much natural. It's very hard to find an artist that is able to keep their appeal with the teenagers for that much years in a row, and even Namie that is popular among the younger audience now had some years were as far as I know she wasn't well seen by them.

Oh, yeah. Completely agree. Even Namie's audience really isn't that young though. But she has been able to hold on to and appeal to new fans in their 20s/30s with much greater success.

The e-mail tittle was "【TA MAIL】COUNTDOW LIVE ticket information!". I can't.....

Aderianu 11th November 2016 02:16 PM

I smell new logo error...

Chris85 11th November 2016 03:30 PM

I guess we can't expect new songs during this show because there won't be new single (due to the late Arena tour DVD release)?

donboydeluxe 14th November 2016 08:58 PM

Living in the San Francisco Bay Area , I attended the Oct. 18th Zepp concert, I went ahead and applied for the dec. 31 concert (my birthday too) but looking at current airfare and hotels prices on such short notice and the season for dates surrounding the concert, wow. I'd need to marry rich in a HURRY! to even remotely consider going. oh well....
and to address the fan age topic on previous page, I skew things way to the OLD, in my 50's. saw Namie in Hong Kong in March and Leo Ierei in October also. even us "olders" love great music!

ayuuk 17th November 2016 12:02 AM

^Can you pls share how you got the TA tour tickets? I know the CDL lottery results will be announced around 11/26. Do you pay by credit card then? Thanks!

tokyoxjapanxfan 17th November 2016 12:25 AM

^^ yes airfare these days is awful--on top of horrible the price, the total flight time is crazy! I saw flights to my hometown area with ok prices, but it was 36 hours one way! Lol so crazy

But at least you live in SF, it's at least a bit closer than the East Coast :-p

Deep snow 17th November 2016 12:08 PM

The new CDL entry on her website now begins with the sentence (tagline?) "Ending is beginning---"

ominous af

attractive nausea 17th November 2016 12:35 PM

^ The ending of the year of course, nothing ominous to see here.

rainbow_smile 17th November 2016 01:19 PM

She's been using the "Beginning of an end" phrase for a while now haha She also used this as a title of her TA entry before the final CDM show, and it's the title of one of the MIJ "chapters".

It scared me at first, like I thought maybe she's going to retire or something, but then I got used to it.

I think maybe this time she's not just using it to mean the end of the year, but also because it's her last concert at the Yoyogi Gymnasium for at least the next couple of years.

This is news to me.

^ Yoyogi will be under renovation for 2 or so years because of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games

Official website ticket lottery is up:

You don't have to be a TA member, can pay by credit card and pick up your ticket at 7/11 convenience store in Japan.

Jenji 19th November 2016 02:44 PM

it's my first time applying to a ticket lottery so I am wondering how good the chances are to get tickets for the 31st of december concert?

Does any of you know about that? I am a member of the international TA Fanclub and I already applied for two tickets for that day. I actually planned to get 3 tickets not knowing that it's only possible to apply for two. So one of my friends need to get her ticket through the normal lottery. How high are the chances that we 3 can get the tickets for the same concert and are the seats given out randomly?

Sorry for the mass of questions ^^'
I hope you can help me

CeReSu 21st November 2016 06:01 PM

If I guess correctly, the CDL will be broadcasted in live for the new year's eve!

I think international fans get somewhat privilege, when I applied to the 29th and 30th last year i got both of those concert dates and my seats were literally the best in the concert probably, like 5th row and right beside the runway. I think you have a good chance for the 31st.

yeah!

Earth_maiden 21st November 2016 06:15 PM

^I agree, I was a team ayu member with a Japanese account and address (via tenso) and I applied for 2 dates, 3 different lotteries for CDL14-15. I didn't get a single ticket and had to purchase mine from another user here. I switched/re-applied my membership for an international account because of that.

Don't get her/his hopes too high on the good seats because i got B7 (in the last rows behind and on the far right) and C6 when i applied and those seats sucks when you travel 10 000km to see your fave singer live :tired, i was really upset because i had so many expectations after reading a lot of people saying international TA members usually get awesome seats.

Hmmm I also got amazing seats for AT 2015. On the first day I got B1 and on the second day I got A4 or something. Just one seat away from the runway. But I don't know if that's because I'm an international fan lol

Probably they changed that "rule". Everyone used to win eveything and get best seats before, that was true.

rainbow_smile 21st November 2016 11:34 PM

I think they either changed it, or it was a coincidence. My seats last year were AMAZING on both dates. Like, around 6th-9th row. This year I applied for 3 dates and I only had a really nice seat at one of those concerts. But that was AT, not CDL.

Chibi-Chan 22nd November 2016 12:49 AM

Does someone know if you can watch the live broadcast somehow via the internet?

Not possible.

Aderianu 22nd November 2016 07:33 AM

I miss online broadcast :( once I watched CDL and it was sooo cool. Because of time difference it didn't affect my celebration

Chibi-Chan 22nd November 2016 03:18 PM

^same here! I so would love to do it again! When the concert finished it was around 5pm here I think, it was pretty cool to celebrate with a live Ayu concert and afterwards having a party with friends.

ayuuk 22nd November 2016 07:28 PM

^I seem to remember the online live broadcast was a paid one during CDL 2011-12?

voltron 22nd November 2016 07:47 PM

I think she did it two different years, with two different services, maybe? I think one was a Japanese service, and the other was UStream. I paid and watched the year it was UStream, which was the Hotel Love Songs CDL.

EndOfTheWorld 22nd November 2016 07:57 PM

I remember when she did a livestream for the Countdown but I found out about it too late and never got the chance to watch live.:no
I would love for her to do that even though everyone is in different time zones.

I agree with this. At the TA tour this year I got 3 tickets all in the the first 100, meaning I got the highest chance for being able to get front row.

tokyoxjapanxfan 23rd November 2016 01:02 AM

I suppose I should do the international one.

Because I get crap seats all the time lol

ayuuk 23rd November 2016 07:24 AM

Does TA lottery allow you to get better seats than non-TA lottery?

Mostly yes, but every kind of lottery has SOME chance to get great seat. My experience with non-TA lottery was worst seats only. TA provided me with amazing seats.

orbitalaspect 23rd November 2016 12:12 PM

Back to theme... So far, she's done Asian culture, Circus + Vegas style, Dance, and then the Anniversary style all on her last few CDL.

I hope she does something nature-focused this time. She's never really done anything featuring a lot of plants and flowers and nature-inspired outfits. The last thing she did was use Ivy to cover up her body on I am...

Evan Odinson 23rd November 2016 12:38 PM

^A nature themed CDL would be actually pretty cool, I like that idea :yes

Chris85 23rd November 2016 01:31 PM

I hope for nice goods with decent pictures. Too bad CDL doesn't feature big towels, because I need another one. Does anyone know if a Ayu themed blanket can be used as a body towel???

voltron 23rd November 2016 03:55 PM

I don't think she will, but I could see her doing a We Are the QUEENS / Clash of Queens theme for the CDL.

Or maybe she'll troll us and go from Circus >> Carnival.

Aderianu 23rd November 2016 06:40 PM

I hope We Are the QUEENS was for TA tour, she sang it enough and will not continue at CDL
I don't like this song as most of you, guys :/
