Total unflattering looks. She needs a new stylist or a wake up call in fashion senses. Lately I find her style dull, a mess and trying hard to look like a teenager.

The dress is okay, but it's a bit too frilly for me. Her hair just needs different styling because the bangs look heavy, but overall I think that she looks good. I hope that we get a subbed version of this broadcast

I think she looks alright. I don't love the dress, but I don't hate it. Her hair looks like a wig that's a little crooked. But that's just because it also super shiny and healthy looking. Her face looks very youthful!

Ayu has the same hairstyle I had last year. I thought I looked amazing at the time, but looking back at it, I wished I never dyed my hair.

Even though Ayu is way more beautiful than I am (plus she has a forehead, I don't have), I see that the hairstyle looks very heavy and makes her face looks smaller (and even a bit chubbier), exactly like my hairstyle did.

Ayu is slim, elegant and beautiful, so I am sure that if she was styled differently, even the dark hairstyle would not look so intensely heavy on her. Really, it is just that and it won't even matter whether she has bangs or not.
I loved her look when she was with GACKT last year and she slight beige-tint she had during the Made in Tokyo/Japan live shows. Even the dark haircut-promo for Made in Japan album (like in my signature, or the pics with the sunglasses), did not look heavy. She needs a stylist who lights up her look. It is all in the details.

That's such an classic Ayu expression tho <3 I love it! Can't wait to watch it! (and hope that someone will sub it)

I LOVE the hair color, would love to have it, but I dyed my hair dark brown a few weeks ago (at the moment it's more or less a mix between black with red shimmer at the bottom and dark brown at the top), so the color would turn out completely different.

I hope she'll stand with her true personnality during the show. She isn't an "idol" anymore and nearly 40years old now and japanese people consider her more like an "okaasan" (mother) due to her age and career.
I'm looking forward to see the show anyway. And who knows : maybe she'll say that a new album is coming soon ??? :)

I realy think it wasn't the TVs who invited her... But her team/label that got her to be featured. Unless you're really famous in the moment, that's the only way you'll be invited to a TV Show. During her golden era every single tv show would die to have her but nowadays... I'm pretty sure it's just a label/business agreement. It's not like they invited her just because she announced she's deaf.

it seems like her team was always eager to send her to various TV shows and ayu didn't want to do it much. but this time perhaps she said OK and gave a try to TV again.

It was a bit lacking in times where she could've showed her personality a bit more?

They asked if her phone was sparkly and decorated, because that's their image of her (and in fact she's credited with have started the trend back in the mid 2000's) and she said no, it's a plain phone. Which may be true of the phone itself, but she has giant phone cases on it that are easily visible to anyone who follows her lol. Why not even mention it?

Anyway, I generally enjoyed it. I shouldn't nitpick. :-p

Hopefully this is a start for her to appear on TV more. She used to have the talk segment of Hey!x3 to go on but now there's really nothing like that anymore.

^ I think her excitement with the impersonators decreased with each one. By the third one you can see her looking at the others on the show with a "what is this??" look on her face.

^Agree, also there are other who are better at it, I remember a video with a compilation of Ayu imporsonators in some TV show, they were really good, looked like her (style) and sounded similiar, these 3 were more like a parody tbh

I'm surprised that she still eats brown rice. I remember she mentioned it at Hey!x3 or somewhere like 16 years ago. she says she eats it every morning along with miso-shiro, she also drinks aojiru every day. she does yoga every day before breakfast. she says she doesn't like tomatoes. I found it funny cause other Japanese celebrity I like now (and you can see her at my avatar) loves tomatoes most from all food.

she says she has 5 helping staff. her yoga coach lives on different floor of her house. staff buys her food.

she says she doesn't use apps and doesn't like using smartphone. she says she doesn't understand it.

tbh she seemed a bit sociopatic. they asked if she likes to go out and eat local food when she goes to prefectures while touring and she answered that she doesn't do it and she doesn't want to meet people. all she wants is to go to hotel and have fun with her dogs. they asked her about her hobbies and she said that her hobby is talking to her dogs.

I didn't like that they treat her too respectful like an empress or big boss. it was kind of strange atmosphere in the beginning. they always told her that if she doesn't like something she should just say it and they will stop.

but omg those impersonators!! I laughed hard all the time. especially the last one. and you can see that these girls are her fans and they are excited to be so close to ayu.

About the "sociopatic" thing, I think that for so long she wasn't able to enjoy normal life because she was super famous and couldn't even go out like a normal person that she kinda became someone that enjoys being alone or surrounded by person she already know and trust and in her house. Maybe she can't chane that mindset. The weirdest thing for me is that her yoga coach lives at the house?? Or you mean the same building as her? lol

I felt the same way as you about them being careful with her. During the impersonators act it really seemed like they were affraid that she would not like it.

She says this about having fun with her dogs at least since 2005, as she said the same thing during at05. IMO she just isn't going answer something that will keep people trying to go after her everytime she leaves her house, considering some days ago she sad she went to a gay bar and there are photos of her on public places on her social media.

I got the same impression, but it could be that they were starstruck because she's so famous.



As for her talking about rather being with her dogs than meeting people, I think that's ok. We all know her strong stage persona and how she is on social media, but we don't know her personal side. She might be the type of person who can turn "on" when she has to, but then needs some time to herself to recharge.

about Ayu, I used to watch Shabekuri with other guest such as Keiko Kitagawa ans it was so much fun and relax. but with Ayu as people said they seemed to treat her like a VIP and afraid if they go so far she will not like it or answer them :P wonder why Ayu seemed holding back not like when shes on stage during concert MC, she was more relaxed and cool and funny (shes more comfortable in her own concert :yes)

I really don't understand why some people dislike her so much. What did she ever do to anger people? It's not like I think it's impossible for people to not fall in love with her, it's just the blatant hatred and downright catty talk they use.

I think most people have never been exposed to the ayu many of her fans like a lot. And even some fans get bogged down with the toxic rumors, comments, news, etc it almost seems easy to demonize her. It's sad though.

ayu is still one of the most popular and loved people in japan. check any video of her on youtube it's crammed with positive praise and fans posting how much they love her. her social media accounts too.
