[2003] When you buy cds..
I tend to buy ones where I've heard everything, just to be safe for my money, but then it takes away the joy of coming upon a fresh, good song. :(
most of the trakcs 4 me:)
I only listen to the singles I've purchased or even a couple of samples from the homepage. I usually dive into the album with high expectations and usually, as far as J-pops and rock are concerned, I am not disappointed. ^^
I like to hear most of the tracks. Since the crackdown on internet piracy, I haven't been downloading too much music. As a result, I haven't been buying a lot of music. I'm not buying stuff from new groups, just ones that I am familiar with.
I usually listen to a few tracks just to see if it's worth buying. Then, if they are worth buying, I wait and see what the rest of the songs sound like so I will have something to look forward to. Other than that I don't listen to any of the tracks because I know that the artist will satisfy me with what is on there/ they have satisfied me with past releases.
yeah i do listen to all the tracks before i buy them. most of the time i buy cd's with only like 2 tracks i like!
Sometimes I've heard stuff before I buy an album, but most of the time I just buy stuff and hope it's good. And most of the time it is lol but like you know, when I already know the artist why would I listen to the album... like Brian Eno albums... the first tracks I ever heard by him were 1/1 and 2/2 I think, and I loved it and started buying Eno CDs at random without listening.
But whenever I discover new artists, I listen first. |
If it's a band or srtist I REALLY like, I just buy the album expecting it to be good. But if I hear a single from a new band or something and if I like it it'll buy it after hearing one or two singles.
Usually I listen to most of the tracks just to get a good idea of the album before I buy it. This is mostly becuase I don't have enough money to spend on albums that I might not necessarily like. But for certain bands/singers I really like (ie. Shiina Ringo), I usually just listen to the singles and buy it, because I'm pretty confident that they'll have a pretty good album.
I might not listen to them all, but I normally buy it when I'm aware or have listened that there are enough good songs on the CD so it's worth buying it.
i like to listen to some of it and see if i like it or not. But the rest, I would want to wait and hear it when I buy the cd.
I usually listen to some songs, and I'll never buy and album I haven't heard anything from. I've had some bad experiences, for example, me buying KinKi Kid's D album. Such a boring album and almost no good songs, IMO anyways.
If I hear a few songs from an album which I really like I try not to download any more songs from that album so I can have some surprises for when I get the CD n__n
It depends...if I'm really unsure, or I've been disappointed with the artist's recent work, I listen to some or the whole thing before I buy it.
Some with a new artist I haven't heard, obviously I'd have heard some of it before it interested me to buy it. If I'm a big fan of an artist and the recent stuff is good, I'd probably buy it unconditionally without hearing any of it ^^ |
i love chrisrinas album, i boughtt hat just cause i love her previous work ^-^
For Every Little Thing's releases I buy them all before listening cuz I know their music quality is quite promosing and has never disappointed me...

There's some artists of whom I'd buy any CD without listening. Ayu is one of them; others are Thursday, Brian Eno, Dillinger Escape Plan, and U2. |
if i like 50% of the song in the Cd then i'll buy it... but for ayu or dai or hitomi i dont think bout it... just buy it alll
A few tracks, as not to spoil it.. But recently I dl all of Memorial address.. Can't resist the other 4 CRESCENT songs.. but didn't dl them..
When I heard 'a song is born' I loved Keiko's voice, so for my bday this year I got globe's "Lights", not hearing one song.. At first listen it was terrible.. But I love that cd now. So only a few tracks. |
Well before I decide to buy a CD I really want to know what I'm going to buy and so I listen to the CD.
If there are any songs I dislike I would not buy the CD because they're really expencive in Germany :( ja ne |
i usally download evreything cos i can't wait but if it's singers i dont know much about i'l l just hear a few and buy it cos their not worth my time dling haha
well when i get a cd i just play it and listen to it when am on the computer. and if it sound gud then i leave for a few days playing over and over again. but if it doesnt then most likely al chuck it in a conner and wont listen to it for a long long time.
I try to find previews of all the songs on the album... or most of the songs for that matter.
It depends. If it is from bands like Dream Theater, Rush, or Nightwish that put out consistently great albums, the I buy withough hearing anything or as little as possible. Sometimes I try to hear something from an album. But usually I like a surprise so I don't like to spoil it.
well...
i jus listen to one or two songs and if i like em or i like the artist's style i buy their album... : ) |
most - all..around there. unlike the richer of the people here, i have to know i DEFINITELY am going to listen to the album and thoroughly enjoy it before i purchase it.
If I hear a good song, then I buy the cd. I've wasted some good money on crap cds, but taking the risk is worth it, eh? Anyways, I usually listen to most of the songs on the cd if I like the artist/band. :)
I've ended up buying cds just cause I hear one song, and I like it. It just depends i guess
I listen to the whole thing or I at least try.
Most of it, so I know whether it's worth to buy or not.
I'll always preview the tracks on iTunes or CircuitCity.com because I really need to hear if there's only a few good songs and a bunch of filler, or if it's truly a solid album. So basically, I will ALWAYS listen to it before purchasing.
It depends on who the artist is. If I'm a fan, then I'll buy no question. Otherwise, I'll have to preview.
Wow, old thread. :laugh
Like most others, if it's an artist I consistently love I'll buy it without even listening to a single track. Most of the time though, it takes 3-4 really hot singles, dling, or previewing before I buy. I'll also be more prone to buying CDs that I'm not sure about if it's on sale or used. |

But other times, I'll hear most of the tracks before buying the album. |

most time i download the album because i can't wait until i get my copy so i can listen to the album earlier |
i buy a cd to collect, so i dont listen to any tracks before i buy it...as long as the discs are by my favourite artists, i will buy them
