Just got back from the second show. It was the same setlist except the request songs. Second request song he did a nice acoustic version of Pop Star. Some songs he did a cool arrangement with just upright bass and vocal. The only other difference today was Ken explained the meaning behind non fiction in English. His vocal was excellent same as yesterday.

I was there too! He sounded amazing. I was floored. They filmed tonight's show as well. When it airs it will most likely be a composite of both. Wish they got to interview me! Did they do it before or after the show? I sped out of there afterwards to avoid the crowd.
Of the 18 songs he sang, I recognized them all except the very last one (after "even if"). Anyone who was there know the title of it? Also, does anyone know what songs were requested yesterday? |

@Karen thanks for the correction, I knew he debuted shortly after Namie and before Ayu so the 20th anniversary thing had me a bit confused. 20th anniversary of Ken's Bar Live makes more sense. I'm excited to see the footage, whether on mezamashi or wowow. Just really curious to see if I appear on camera since he walked right by me on both nights and also when they filmed his entrance to the theater itself from the street I was standing in line right there lol |

And I think it's a Japanese thing not to be able to have photography or videography done inside their concert cos I know for Western concerts , that's generally allowed I hope when WOWOW aired Ken's Bar 20th Anniversary Special!! Vol.2 concert in Oct , it will be uploaded online and if so , I will download and share with you guys :) |

To me I personally think taking photos & recording video during a concert is very distracting
Especially as most of the time , the quality of the video recorded by fans is not done professionally That's why in a way I'm glad that Japanese concerts imposed such rules even when they perform overseas But there're exceptions . When flumpool 1st came to my country to perform years ago & also most recently , during the tail end of their concert , their lead singer said that everyone is allowed to take photos For flumpool's most recent concert here 2 years ago , I didn't took any photos at the end of the concert as my view wasn't so good and the day before , I attended their press conference + I stood so near the stage until I took more than 50 photos of flumpool so upclose hahaha Anyway , here's hoping that Ken's Bar 20th Anniversary Special!! Vol.2 will get released in DVD or Blu-ray . It's unfortunate that Ken's 2010 concert in New York was not included in a physical release of his :s And if Ken's Bar 20th Anniversary Special!! Vol.2 will be included in a future release of Ken , it probably might get bundled together with a future Ken's Bar IV concept album like what happened to Ken's Bar III If that's not going to happen due to copyright reasons , then the next alternative is to rely on someone to record the footages when WOWOW aired Ken's Bar 20th Anniversary Special!! Vol.2 in Oct Also before I forget , jean-baptiste & AJFmzk , were any concert goods of Ken sold at Sony Hall or did you guys didn't saw any merchandise stand selling them ? :confused |

^ It was a shame there were no goods, I would've liked to buy something, an album at least or something. I still had to fly to New York, but it was a very short flight and my friend lives very close to the Sony hall, so I was able to both see friends and save on accommodations, which is good since I did two trips to Japan earlier this year to see Namie and Ayu and that cost more than I'd like to admit haha. I think I missed seeing ken in Japan by about a week, so when you posted about the New York Live I was very excited.
It was interesting though that most of the attendees actually flew over from Japan to see him in New York. I spoke to a whole bunch of people and they said like 90% or more of the VIP ticket holders were fan club members from Japan and they sold out (by lottery) in minutes. A Japan tour company actually organized a trip from 3 major airports: Narita, Haneda and Osaka. But the venue was great. I was near the back but still close enough that he walked right in front of me and I was able to tap him on the shoulder |

Ken rarely performs in very small venues in Japan , at most smallest it's Hall venues I'm sure Ken easily sold out May's Ken's Bar 20th Anniversary Members Special !! + Ken's Bar 20th Anniversary Special !! vol.1 cos TOKYO DOME CITY HALL can accommodate about 1,600 fans for a seated concert Ken has no problems selling out Arena related venues like Yokohama Arena , Osaka Jo Hall , Chiba's Makuhari Messe with ease The smallest venue I know Ken has performed in Japan was Ken's Bar BEST SONG COLLECTION ~Live at Blue Note Tokyo~ and Blue Note Tokyo can only accommodate 280 fans so you can imagine the close proximity For artistes' fanclubs especially for overseas trips , they tend to bundle accommodation and fanclub related events together . And yes you have to ballot for them no matter how expensive the cost is But if I'm a fanclub member , I would do that cos not only you get to see Ken perform overseas in a different performance setting , you also can do sightseeing of your own if you never been to a particular country outside of Japan so killing 2 birds with 1 stone on that note x) |
^no worries, I don't live in New York but I'm not far from it so as soon as I saw Ken was performing there I got tickets right away and was able to figure out travel plans later. And it really was the perfect venue. I've seen some of ken's bigger tours on DVD and they're really cool but I actually preferred the acoustic show in this small venue, just him and the band no dancers or anything. He looked more relaxed and was making jokes. But it's good being versatile like that to allow fans in closer proximity, not everyone on his level would do that.
That's interesting that fan clubs organize overseas trips, that's pretty cool. I'd do that for sure. I know at least a few people came from Los Angeles and the girl who requested Pop Star said she's from New Jersey but as far as I know most came from Japan. |
Oh yeah Ken might look stoic and all that but in reality he's very funny , if his singing career doesn't work out he can consider a comedian as a 2nd career option :laugh
For fanclub organised overseas trips , that's not uncommon , other artistes also do that too & normally hotel accommodation + plane charges are offered besides the main fanclub event The prices ain't cheap but despite this fanclub members are still required to ballot as limited slots are available Also tickets for Ken's Bar 20th Anniversary Special!! Vol.2 were based on 1st come 1st server basis which's the common norm in here but not in Japan where you wouldn't know your ticket number until you receive the tickets |

I received my copy of Utabaka 2 today and I was pleasantly surprised to see that Nonfiction is in the tracklist. It wasn't listed on YesAsia or on generasia, then I went to check his official site and it's listed there. I also see on generasia they have the catalog number as BVCL807 but my copy (and what's listed on Ken's site) adds a -10 to the end of it.
Does anyone (looking at you Karen lol) know if there was a second version released or if Nonfiction was possibly added last minute? Those are the only 2 explanations I can think of. I'm just curious lol |

I remember when the Grotesque single was announced. The duet seemed so otherworldly because I think it's probably the only time 2 of my all time favorite J-Pop acts collaborated. Still seems a bit surreal to me. I love that they performed it before her retirement.

Anyway Ken is not a dancer so this's the next alternative haha I'm still waiting for Ken to cover ARASHI's Kitto Daijoubu in full though . I downsized finished July 15th's J-WAVE LIVE SUMMER JAM 2018 footages to .mp4 & I'm currently watching Ken's performance
FujiTV NEXT unfortunately cut out 2 songs from Ken's setlist ie. Elegy & Kimi wa Tomodachi which Ken sung Kimi wa Tomodachi as the last song Aside from that , fantastic performance that Ken put out as always . What stuck me is that besides the opening number Love Love Love , the other songs he did , only 1 instrument back him up vocally , that's it Piano - Shiranai ne Desho? Guitar - Todokanaikara Acoustic guitar - Mahoutte Itte Ii Kana? - Non Fiction Heck Ken could have just sung Love Love Love acapella & nailed it flawlessly as so which he did in the opening & ending of the song Anyway if anyone wants Ken's performance from J-WAVE LIVE SUMMER JAM 2018 , I can send the download link via PM |

I watched the opening of Ken’s Bar 2017 X’mas Special !! last night where Ken opened the show with his rendition of Austin Mahone's Dirty Work
It was super funny cos everytime I hear Dirty Work it always reminds me of female comedian Blouson Chiemi cos she made the song her theme no. last year which contributed to her popularity And Ken's mannerisms was hilarious from the moment he walked out onstage Also in the midst of performing , Ken was throwing blank papers everywhere & later on before he finished performing , Ken picked up the paper pieces 1 by 1 while doing some weird kung fu like gestures that made everyone laughed so bad xD Ken's backup musicians were trying hard not to laugh but that failed :laugh :laugh :laugh Aside from that , it was just Ken being backed up by a cello & then subsequently an acoustic guitar which worked so well in his favour I'm still surprised that Ken is not fluent in English cos his English pronunciation is considered really good for a Japanese |

For the CD Limited , the tracklist included live tracks . The only release so far to include the Non Fiction PV is in Utabaka 2 but for that , there was no DVD release , only a 3 CDs + Blu-ray :x But I have the full Non Fiction PV in my hard disk , I will upload & PM you with it :) For me I'm curious what songs Ken might cover if he put out Ken's Bar 4 . Yeah, that's pretty insane. I understand region locked full PVs or DVDs (even though I think even that is a stretch to justify these days, even with copyright reasons) but promos should be available to everyone or you're just cutting off potential sales and fans

Some music videos from artists that belong to Universal Music (e.g. PassCode, King & Prince) are geoblocked as well, apparently, even if they have Vevo (what!?) (AFAIK, Perfume isn't one of those, but still, it's anti-consumer for those who live in the geoblocked areas). Some Sony artists (e.g. Nogizaka46, and as what Karen said, SID and SPYAIR) have unblocked its YouTube videos (at least for newer ones, though not the older ones necessarily), but I do agree Sony needs to do more positive in terms of YouTube internationally. |
