æternal un [First Perfume]
seems like ayu released her first perfume.

Well, that was unexpected. But I'm not against her extending her branding efforts - it's worked quite well for Koda Kumi.
Now, let's just hope UN doesn't stand for Urata Naoya :D |
A birthday surprise, cool xD beautiful pic!

thank you for the translation Party_King; I thought this was a sponsorship thing; turns out it's her own brand. good on her.

Interesting she's doing that now, too.
Hope that works out better for her than her brand of lashes (and didn't she have contact lenses at one point as well?). |
There's no way to get it if you live overseas unless you know someone who'll go to Japan, right?

The lashes were Days line..."Gorgeous Days," "Natural Days," and "Royal Days." I don't remember them too well, but I think they were a one-time thing? |
Really happy for some news :) A perfume is interesting.

But if they were successful, why aren't they still sold? With the lashes I think those weren't a one-time thing. I know I've checked them out when I was there and then some day they were discontinued and on sale because of that. 6,600 Yen for a bottle of perfume is expensive, especially cause perfume isn't a big market in Japan. If you wanna check out a nice article about that: http://www.kafkaesqueblog.com/2014/0...rkets-culture/ |
jesus, there's always someone trying to shade her and her endeavours here! why are they even in this part of the forum if they don't stan ayu?
on topic: that's nice! |
^ All of her tie-ins have been so messy over the recent years, so I can't really say why they stopped. They may have also been more successful in the beginning than later on, after a couple of years? Someone else will probably have more insight there.
|
I want it.

Finally! Even though I don't like the name and the design seems uninspired, I'm happy for her.
|
I remember years ago people wanted a fragrance launch from Ayu.
It's a 50ml bottle so 6000yen (which is coming out at about £45GBP or $55USD) isn't too bad. It's a not high end price but not too low to be seen as cheap either. The branding suits her image now (an A shaped bottle etc would have been amazing in 2000-2005 but would probably seem too much now) and the scent description sounds nice. Not that many of us will get to smell it! |

Also 6600 yen isn’t expensive for a perfume, if it’s half decent. Expensive perfume goes for 150 EUR and more. This is low middle class of perfume. 60-80 EUR is just average...Also eau de toilette isn’t the same as perfume... |
Quote:
I think the perfume will be as successful as her shampoo/conditioner line especially because I'm sure it will be sold at Don Quijote and other big stores just like Koda Kumi's one. |
I think it’s pricey for eau de toilette, since it contains the least amount of perfume oils.
But I’ve wanted an Ayu perfume forever so I’m excited. Japanese people tend to prefer lighter, soapy fragrances. Like shampoo, so I don’t think this will be heavy. (It mentions being reminiscent of “that special someone after a shower”) |
I want to try it. Just not sure it will be my style, also I hate rose and afraid it scent will be noticeable
|
This isn't a new album

Quote:
BESIDES, why does she love trouble so much? :weep I’d rather she’d called it heaven, or I am or boys & girls lol aah I love to complain so much. |
It says first perfume but didn't ayu released a perfume along with MTRLG back in 2002?
I remember it was a cross shaped pink vessel |

I love fragrance sprays so I think this is cool.:luv2
I also would love to at least smell a sample. Based on the description I think this scent aligns with Ayu's image well. I do wish it was just called aeternal. |
What if the "un" in the name means we'll also get "aeternal deux"?

It's cool she's doing a perfume, just a shame I won't be able to buy it. |
It's about time, although i sense it's gonna be a very generic smell, though she's got leather there, that's interesting. I hate jasmine and rose though. ew. I found my thing though, so i'm good. I wish it was an album xD
|
I was hoping to get this, but apparently not... damn :/ I hate to be missing out on ways to connect with her and support her.

To have things continually on sale for years, especially when it's a celebrity-produced good, isn't normal as far as I've seen. Or at the very least it's common for a product to not be on sale forever. |
I really want it. Gotta work my Japanese connections...
|
Interesting that bottle has "A.YOU" on it as opposed to her full name. Why her instagram handle...?

Idk if they'll allow shipping it via surface mail though, since they only mention lithium batteries for that, but even in that case it looks like they don't ship via surface mail to my country |
Quote:
I've checked the sales of 2018 for perfumes in Japan and it didn't change that much. Just find things like that very interesting. |
I mean.... I'd buy it if I could. haha

oooooh I'd love to try it

From TA:

I contacted tenso and asked if they can ship it by surface mail but they replied that shipping perfume is prohibited by Japan Post
|
Can you ship it through FedEx, DHL or UPS though?
|
Yeah deux seems likely. I want it but probably not possible ahhhh!
Looks like you COULD but only via surface mail or ship instead of by air. |

That works, I already did it myself in the past with perfume from Japan. It just takes a while, about 2-3 months to be delivered and not every middleman service might be ok with doing that (I used SMJ without problems). |
^ that's exactly what I asked tenso to do though, and they said "no". Surface Mail is shipping by boat, not by plane
Idk what other reliable and affordable middleman services I can use What's SMJ tho? |
I asked Celga, they gave me a no for perfume in general.
|
What this "un" stands for? It would be nice name without un.
|
Quote:
"un" is "one" in french, right? |
Quote:
SMJ is Shopping Mall Japan, another good and reliable middleman service. Was some time ago I've used them for perfume, but as I said it wasn't a problem back then. |
Quote:
Sometimes customs don't notice there's perfume in the package (that's how some fans were able to buy the BTS perfume from Korea for example: some of them received the perfume just fine even by Registered Airmail at first, but then the customs noticed and the majority of subsequent packages were returned to the sender), but I don't really want to risk it LOL |
Answer from shopping Mall japan:

Edit: I asked for 1-2 bottles and they said this amount shouldn´t be a problem^^ |
she should have made the bottle in the shape of her A! LOL

It's the term I know for shipping by ship as well. Glad for you guys they still do it.^^ |
Quote:
Thank you for recommending the website btw! |
I asked InJapan middleman service, they also can't ship it
|
she should do the makeup products, and called "Ayu Cover" or "Cover UN"
|
^ No, i'm really sick of celebrities coming up with new make-up / skincare brands, as if there weren't enough of them already...
|
^ This might be a trend in the US but not in Japan... Actually if Ayu do that, it could be an amazing turning point in her career.
|
CD Japan also ruled out shipping it via any method including DHL. I sent a message to SMJ as well :)
I really liked the RnRC era where Ayu had the collab with RIMMEL London. It was great timing for her music concept to overlap a promotional campaign. e: SMJ said they've had to halt perfume sales recently, what a bummer... |
^ oh, that's a shame... thanks for telling, they haven't even replied to my email yet lol
|
Quote:
To me they said they can send small amount via surface mail, that was just a few days ago |
^ maybe you got a reply from a different CS representative and one of them is uninformed... Or they tried to send a perfume a couple of days ago, but it got returned by Japan post, and it could've happened after you messaged them
|
Seems us international fans are SOL getting this, which really sucks!
|
If only there was a way to tell her about it, maybe we can ask Timmy to ask her about it?
|
^ What can she do though? Make Japan Post agree to ship it worldwide? Not gonna happen. Distribute it "worldwide" (more like in a couple of overseas countries)? I doubt a lot of people would buy it in the West, so it's not really worth it for her imo
|
I remember Kuu making some solid perfumes. I think those are fine to ship internationally.
If these sell well, I imagine they would do that too |
If you buy the perfume via tenso, will they be able to ship it overseas of it will cause problem?
|
Tenso doesn´t handle perfume
|
Good to know thank you!
|
I am a fragrance collector so I always wonder what type of fragrance ayu would wear.
I really want it but at least I need some "A" symbol on the bottle. |
Quote:
|
omg Ayu wears Flowerbomb?! :heart That’s my scenttttt
|
wow that's interesting. I always thought she would wear something like CHANEL or Dior.
|
42 quid!
|
I will go to Osaka next week. Does anybody know where can I get Ayu fragrance? Is there any pop-up store or something?
|
^ I think it's only sold online atm and they'll only start shipping in late December, so I wouldn't expect it to be available at any physical stores until then :(

there's a second perfume coming soon
|
|
I guess the first one sold pretty well?
|
Oh damn aeternal deux sounds like something i might like... Now I'm even more bitter that there's no way for me to get it delivered here
|
Waiting for a new photoshoot <3
|
The first one sounded like it would be sophisticated and beautiful.
This one sounds like it'll be fun and very sweet. top - orange, peach, raspberry, apple middle - lavender, cotton candy, carnation, myugu (not sure what this is exactly?), rose, rose oud last - cedar oud, vanilla, musk, sandalwood, amber |
Hopefully there will be a booth selling the perfume during the CDL.
If I remember from previous concerts they were selling the shampoo that she promoted |

I unfortunately don’t love un.
But it could just be the fact that it’s winter, and it strikes me more as a warmer month fragrance. So I’ll put this in the back of my collection until spring/summer. But also, it doesn’t seem to change on the skin. At least for me. It stays pretty accurate to the initial notes. Sometimes I wish fragrances did this, sometimes I only like them after they’ve sat on me. But this one... I was excited for the leather inclusion, which I get absolutely zero of. I also don’t get the oriental notes at all. I don’t wear tons of florals, except for some rose. So it could be I’m just not used to it. In any case, I really bought this more for collecting purposes so I’m not particularly disappointed, and I’ll retry this a few times before putting down until it gets warmer. The next release does look more interesting to me—but I will try to see if it appears in Donki first. |

If yes I will ask a friend to bring it next month^^ |
