This is great for her, I wonder how she will grow and evolve from this, and who the dad is. I read on Twitter in a post from LINE that it’s a normal guy, younger than her, and she doesn’t have plans to marry.

What’s also curious about this is I have never given thoughts to ayu having a baby, just just last year it popped into my head, “will ayu really never have children? I guess it would be a shame if she chooses not to pass on her legacy and those eyes.” And viola, turns out she had a baby. Lmao.

Seriously, I'm so shocked.

First, I didn't think Ayu had plans to become a mother. And if she ever did, I thought she'd share her pregnancy journey on social media.

Second, she's been doing this super demanding grueling tour and it seems incompatible to do it while heavily pregnant.

Third, I saw no baby bump in her photos. Seriously. Where did she keep that baby?!

She must feel so happy and satisfied that she pulled it off without anyone realizing, and honestly it's pretty amazing with all of the constant attention, and a huge staff/dancers not letting it slip.

Right. I can't imagine what that announcement was like. Lol. Like they call everyone in a room and she say "I'm pregnant." The shock and celebration that must have unfolded thereafter!

I know. This was such a successful fake out, other celebrities should take note haha. I thought maybe she used a surrogate, but the post was very clear she actually gave birth. But it's true, smaller women don't necessarily show until late term, and I have several friends who had kids and went back to looking stunning right after. Like you would never have thought they had just had a baby. Some people can do that, whether it's genetics, keeping fit, strategic choice of clothes etc.

^ if you look back at what she's been wearing for the past months, yeah. It makes sense. She's been super chill and kept this under wraps REALLY well lol

^ Yeah, it's easier to see in hindsight for sure. To be fair, Namie re-worked Say the Word, she wrote the lyrics with special meaning for her son, and it's one of my favorite songs from her, she's played it on so many tours. I honestly wouldn't be that worried. Ayu is a master of creating lyrics with multiple meanings, so while she could totally could be referring to her son, I don't think she'll change her writing style. Plus we've had plenty of emotional (real or fake crying) performances throughout the years, if she gets sentimental during a show nobody would really notice the difference I don't think.

The father could be Pey...dancers are not celebrities and just regular people with access to celebrities. Ayu loves messing with people she works with too.

i think he most likely is the father. Given all the photos of them together. Wasn’t everyone saying that Ayu was banging Pei last year? And relative to Ayu, most people are non-celebrity. Though you could argue that her longest running/most famous dancers probably are well known enough that they’d be considered celebrity, like Subaru, Zin, Shuya. I mean, I kind of hope I’m wrong, but there’s enough circumstantial evidence for speculating about it.

haha I’m thinking the exact same thing. Dating in the workplace is viewed very skeptically for a reason. That goes double for the entertainment industry. Personally I find it kind of off putting with an age difference that large. If she did have new music, this announcement would put her on top for sure. Truthfully, I couldn’t be happier for her. I’ve had a large smile plastered on my face ever since I saw the post, I’m genuinely thrilled for her.

^yeah i mean, if the guy was like 30 it probably wouldn't be that big of a deal even if it's someone from her staff, but now he's soooo much younger AND a dancer of hers as well. I mean on the positive side, she really didn't flaunt this relationship at all, which is good, but still, it would hit quite low if in some weird way people figured it out and i'm sure japanese folks have their speculations. Although unless she herself confirms it, it would just end up being a rumour for the rest of her career.

People sometimes change their position on kids. If you asked me if I wanted kids when I was in my 20s I would have shut that down immediately! Like, I did NOT want kids AT ALL. Flash forward to now in my 30s, I'm actually entertaining the idea of bringing in a little menace into my life lol

I don't think she ever said she's not gonna have children, she never said she didn't want them, she was just focusing on her career, cuz she loves what she does. I guess it kind of explains it that it would have probably happened sooner or later, it could have been a surprise for her as well, not planed whatsoever. I was so utterly floored when I read the news on Twitter this morning. I am just so surprised that she was able to keep this under wraps so perfectly! And how no one around her let it slip either. I watched her Countdown Live last night for New Year's Eve, and I kept wondering why she didn't seem as energetic as she usually is at her shows (no running around, etc.), and now I have my answer! I do hope she's happy though.

Well, the TA post says she "gave birth" so that would mean that Ayu herself gave birth. But I mean people can speculate about whatever they want. Hiding a pregnancy might not be at all difficult if you have a big team working on it, I'm sure a bunch of celebrities have done it before. I mean, Namie kept her son completely away from the media for his entire life, didn't she?

I don’t believe surrogacy is possible in japan. It would have had to be done overseas if so.

I mean all the stuff looking back now, makes sense - her photos, skipped live shows that she usually attends, wardrobe "change". Plus with her, general public, would never think of pregnancy as the first reason why or think that anything is off in general, cuz she's known to wear cosy and baggy stuff, and she does post a lot of headshots too, she also did skip performance opportunities before too, so this really was nothing out of the ordinary for her, something that would actually spark a suspicion that she's hiding something. And yeah, she's got a massive team of staff with her most of the time, so that helped a lot too. And knowing japanese culture, they value privacy and won't really go out of their way to get juicy news, unless it was easy and obvious.
