Cool, I downloaded Tik Tok recently (just to watch videos on, I haven't actually signed up!) but it will be fun to watch Ayu's videos.

Not her making some promo video just for joining Tik Tok lol Anyway, it's smart of her (from a westerners point of view) since a lot of songs become hits these days from Tik Tok. I doubt it's popular in Japan though? Plus there are some hilarious videos on the platform so she better bring the creativity there haha

I miss watching her Instagram posts and now I'm curious about this Tik Tok thing (have never download it) but social media that is supposed to be used to share pictures makes me pretty anxious lol maybe I could create a "fan account" but not sure if it's worth it :laugh

Tik Tok is the most downloaded app in the whole world (more than Whatsapp, for example). As it's actually a chinese app, it became a huge hit in Japan before it hit the Western public. So, yeah, it's pretty big in Japan.

I don't know about TikTok. I have the perception that it's mostly kids and teens that use it and they are just short silly clips that get uploaded. I don't know if I will download it. Maybe if Ayu posts important stuff on there.:shrug

It could be. The song itself is blocked in some countries it seems and the new videos just cannot even be viewed by some people (?) in the US.

I think she’s using the opportunity that she hasn’t joined it yet and that’s it’s her anniversary and that her tour is postponed now to run a campaign. It’s genius really. I really hate how it’s region locked. But if you go through her Instagram story link without logging in, it’s not region locked. I love that she posted MY ALL (my hands down favorite song of hers) dancing and singing the Chinese version with her doggies. And she’s blonde again *squeals* :D

Wow, her voice sounds so different in this Chinese version, I really like how she sounds and that she's actually singing, not shouting.
Thank god these videos can be viewed from desktop and without registration and download managers can download them easily. I just wish the sound was better than 64kbps.

Her voice sounds fine but WHAT is up with the mixing? It’s sound so terrible and cheap how loud her vocals are compared to the rest of the mix.

It's better than drowning in the music at least. And we can't judge it properly until the final version is released in high quality.

I guess that's what happens when she doesn't try to alter her voice. Like for example her voice in the studio version of Last Angel was completely different from live performances, much higher-pitched.

I really like the sound of her voice in Chinese, it was already the case when she made the Chinese version of Who. Her voice sounds softer .

I saw the video of Ayu miming it but I didn’t realize it was actually her singing until almost the end! Her studio voice for this is completely different. Seems she’s completely transitioned away from that emotional style of singing. I hope it’s only for this track. You would never guess it’s the same artist who sings The Show Must Go On for example.

I understand it’s difficult if not impossible for her to maintain that style, but I guess the main appeal with Ayu for me was that she always sounded as if someone was wringing her heart dry as she poured out her soul into the song. Almost as if she was in pain because of how strongly her emotions were consuming her. Here it just kinda sounds like she’s sitting pleasantly in a rocking chair before a floor full of snot nosed kids singing nursery rhymes. Lmao.

Thank god. It's not her natural voice. She was straining her voice trying to sing higher than her range and also trying to sound cute.

She is singing in a language she does not understand. One tends to concentrate more on pronouncing the words properly rather than anything else...

People do sound different when they sing in other languages, i noticed that with Miyavi, HYDE, Jaejoong, Alan.... The pronunciation is different and so are the way you use air to produce sounds needed. Ayu's the most extreme though, i thought it was someone else..but then, she's not familiar with chinese, so her not sounding like she usually does is understandable.... I don't hate this deeper register though.

Whatever you post under the hashtag will probably get seen. There's nothing much to the challenge really, just post a video with the hashtag and doing the dance or anything to the song and it's fine. Riki, the acrobat guy did the dance kind of while doing pushups in his video, lol. In general on TikTok, there are 'challenges' which is just like "recreate this video somehow with this song" and that's all.

They didn't seem to get a lot of licensing deals for outside of Japan. A lot of people seem to just be using ZIN or Timmy's video sound to do the challenge.
