That nun shot has to be the most shoe horned shot since the sparkly dress in Rule, and at least that was roughly excused by the lyrics about strenghth and kindness!

Other than that I quite like the atmosphere, couldn't help but think of Rain on me (the pink outfit, Ariana hair, and well... the rain), but I must say that it's good to see some dance moves!

If We are the Queens doesn't count as I don't think it was an actual PV, I'm guessing Mad World/FLOWER were the last ones? Or am I forgetting something?

The pv is How Beautiful you are + Talkin'2Myself 's videos. Not bad but nothing really happens. The best part is the nun's scene.

I don't get the nun part (epic though), but the PV essentially shows her picking up the pieces (the dancers), helping them stand up and then them performing together. Dunno if it's well thought of, but it's a nice pop video.

Is it her most mind-blowing and insightful video? No. However, instead of her prancing around in the rain, we've got the bits with the nun (which coincide with the lyrics), which make me curious as to what she's actually saying in those moments.

PV looks nicer than some of her previous ones. Why couldn’t the cover had the PV outfit instead of what we got. And Ayu dances!

PV is OK. Not amused, but it has a beautiful cinematography. I'm pissed with avex not uploading her recent videos with decent quality (we can see the pixels even in 1080p), but I guess they're doing it planning to put the videos on a future physical release.

The dance is kind of a mess, like poor man's version of T2M. I like some moves, but overall it doesn't work for me.

I agree. I don't find the video "thoughtfull" or #deep. But I have to say I still very much like it. It's an entertaining pop music video and the cinematography reminds me of GAME, About you and talkin' 2 myself, which makes me nostalgic. The nostalgia it evokes for me is pretty much the reason I like it. lol

It’s fine, I like it to be honest, kinda messy at the end though but it’s something I’d watch again. Is this like the entire MV tho or are we gonna get a longer version?

It's visually beautiful and considering the floor moves, this may be her hardest choreography so far (what isn't really something to write home about, as her choreo tends to be fairly easy... Fair enough considering she is not a dancer).

I'm not very found of most of her videography, so I'm satisfied with beautiful + nice choreo.

Very insightful. I think maybe it’s just that with regards to the world coming to a standstill with the pandemic and her picking up the pieces with her dancers. If this truly is a shortened version, I’m very curious as to what the full version must be.

People need to keep in mind that it’s been a little while since she’s done videos (aside from her last one last month) and she hasn’t really done epic ones for quite some time (I really wish she would’ve done a fully video for We Are The Queens instead of 2 commercials because that would’ve really been epic). My guess is the pandemic and motherhood lit a fuse in her and she’s probably trying to reset her career or image. Maybe she wants to be the warrior literally and figuratively.

Even if it was simple, the PV was great! I think it was like how beautiful you are but with her dancers for sure. I think that it was nice to see alternate outfits in a PV after not getting that for a while now. It's a good sign I think of things to come and that we're even getting PVs nowadays even if they are a bit less jampacked than they were just maybe a few years back (2015/2016?)

Man, i've always wanted Ayu to turn into something epic in a music video. My wish was granted. It's one of the more cinematically pleasing PVs she's done in a while, and can we acknowledge the fact that it's been forever since she actually did any choreo in one??? Now the only thing is that i feel like the song is not epic enough for this. Although i love that guitar solo!

This was such a nice surprise! I like the PV and since in recent years she hasn't done any, this and Ohia no Ki are a pretty good return imo. I hope we get even better ones in the future.

Like some other comments, I was definitely reminded of T2M. I like that she added some dance but it was a bit messy for me. I also don't mind the video being shortened, especially if there isn't anything new added to it. But I'm happy with it overall!

I think the PV is alright. I like that she did a dance routine for this! I've adjusted my expectations for her PVs due to likely restraints brought on by the pandemic but this was more than I was expecting! It kind of reminds me of Rain on Me by Gaga.

I think if there was a longer version she would have called it "Dreamed a Dream (Short Ver.)" and not promotional clip. I like it, it's not the first time an artist has shortened a song for a music video. I would have just used "video" instead of "clip" (of nothing at all, basically how they did it with the uploads of NEVER EVER and UNITE!). Obviously a full video would be ideal but I'm sure they did this for a reason. I'm very happy with the result. :)

This is for me the best video she released in what... a decade maybe? I don't care if it is a big ''Rain on me'' rip off, it fits the song and it doesn't look cheap.

It is ages below the quality of her 2005-2009 videos but damn what an updrade from her previous albums video(especially colours). She invested herself at least enough to learn a choreo (is it the first choreo in a video she does since Rule?)

I was a little on the fence until she started leading the dancers and did the dance break. That bit fkn slayed and I was so excited. I immediately went and spazzed at her on TA lmfao

I want a bit more out of the story in the PV but I really loved the fact she danced and it looked so good. Can't wait for a better quality version as the rain effect kinda ruins the Youtube version.

I loved the video, the only thing that bugs me a little is the strong rain effect shadowing the choreo part!

And I am super happy that she is doing a lot lately, would like to have a couple more singles before she drops a actual album, if there is one coming out at all.

Remember though that Ohia no Ki initially came out in short ver. and they made that version private so the momentum from that coming out is gone.

I know that. It's nice to see the PV sparkled more interest on DaD than when the song was released.

I think Dreamed a Dream got aided by the TV promo like how Ohia's initial release was helped by the drama.

This is just my interpretation:

In general, the song is about picking yourself up after things take a turn for the worse, moving forward at all costs, and learning from your mistakes that got you there in the first place. It's why the opening lines ask the question:

"Where do we draw the line
for what's old and what's nostalgic?
Link a king we can't use anymore
and a queen no longer used"

Simply put: in moving forward, what pillars of thought/ways of living should we leave to die in the past(old), and which ones do we hold onto(nostalgic), and how do we make such a decision?

The video presents Ayu as this sort of super-heroine(judging by the cape) coming forth to act as a savior after catastrophic event that's literally left everything in ruins. It's a very dramatic way of visualizing a "dream" that's been shattered, and saving those who have had that dream shattered. In that respect, the video/song lyrically remind me of Madonna's Keep It Together; sticking through hard times with the help of your loved ones/people close to you.

We can interpret all this for how she feels about her career and the direction it went the last few years or so... the ways she has tried to change and adapt herself to stay relevant over the years as well as push her career as an artist, despite perhaps being to no avail? Despite that, she had the love & comfort of her team by her side always, and they helped her through the darkest of times.

As for the nun imagery, I see it basically as an antagonist to this story. The definition for a nun via Google is "a member of a religious community of women, especially a cloistered one, living under vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience," so while nuns do live as a tightknit sisterhood, they also do so at the cost of living out their lives to the full extent. As we know from "Real Me", Ayu doesn't care to be "like a nun". She wants to be "dangerous", "have fun", etc.

The black/white contacts I believe can be interpreted however you want it to. It could represent the duality of living life like a nun(having a sisterhood to depend on/not having your own life basically), it could represent one eye in the future, one eye in the past(learning from history), etc.

While I'm not sure we'll ever know what's being mouthed in the nun sequences, I think it's safe to say it's probably just meant to represent a prayer.

^Funnily enough my boyfriend (who knows Ayu from having to endure living with me but is not a fan) immediately mentioned Real me when he saw the DaD PV. Not sure if it is intentional, it looks like she likes that kind of imagery in general.

Love your intepretation and I would also add how it represents the time we are living in as well not just her career. Moving forward despite a pandemic and any other bad things going on in the world. Its great, inspirational stuff from Ayu.
Japanese artists, filmakers, etc are so great at representing these themes because Japan has experienced so many "apocalypses". The idea of ruin that leads to rebirth is really ingrained into the culture (especially the older generation).
