I was expecting a full 25th anniversary tour, not just one live. Huh. I guess we will see the further details. Not much time for planning.

Honestly, I'd rather go to the finale than the beginning of a tour (if it pans out to be one) - but unless more info comes soon I may just plan on going to this one, and trying to get tickets for Kuu's shows in Aichi the next day. |
yeah I was waiting (=wishing) for 25th Anniversary Tour just like she did with A BEST LIVE in 2013 but that was then and this is now. I don't know is there even idea doing a whole tour if she can't sold them out? It's all about money after all :no ayu certainly has a fan base but her touring year after year and in my opinion her tours has become a little repeatitive I can understand why they aren't sold out. If she kept doing classic songs-tour every now and then I bet people would be more interesting to attending.
But this is exciting! my wish was to attend to her 25th Anniversary Tour on April 8th so I guess I could made my dream come true, let's see what happens! Regardless I'm happy she is still doing lives. 25th Anniversary is a major accomplisment. :luv2 |
I think they are not sure what to do because of the ASIA leg of last tour still not being done. So until that is finished, can't start the 25th tour?
|
Darn, I won't be in Japan in April! :'(
|
I hope a tour based on the new album, it would be amazing, like old times...
|
TA mail stated that it will be held at Yoyogi
|
I just booked my flight! Now I just cross my fingers I'll get a ticket for the show :-P
|
I wish ayu bring her old band to this live

I think Yocchan and Yusuke have had other engagements. Enrique too which is why that one bassist that Utada had for a while is in the band now. I do think Yocchan still does recording for the backing tracks though! https://twitter.com/NY_maniasama Yocchan has a tour in 2023 of his own and a lot of support band stuff. |
Ayu said in 2023.04.08 the show end after will announce a first and last big news
https://www.instagram.com/p/Cm5njiYLrGe/ a lot of Chinese/Taiwan fans think Ayu will retire (like Namie Amuro 25th after she retire) |

I was like , why is she being so ominous. She is stirring something up with this , and as much as I would like to know , I also kind of don't. She really kicked off the beginning of the year with doom and gloom after a countdown concert.
Bummer. |

|
I unfortunately think the same
|
Omg, is she going to retire?
What else could be first and last? |
omg I just saw the post on Instagram. the first and last big news?! is she going to retire? :(:(:(:(
I guess she'll say she's going to retire and her 25th year will be the last year of her career and she'll launch the last tour :yfrown:yfrown:yfrown oh no no no, I can't imagine my life without ayu! :weep:weep:weep |
If she's going to retire, I'm okay with that. She doesn't need to show anything more. She is already a legend in Japan.
|
Before Namie Amuro's 25th anniversary okinawa live, the goods of live so many word "the first and the last" "good bye"
after the 25th live , Namie announced she will retired and held final dome tour |
In the latest TA blog Ayu talked a bit about planning for 25th Anniversary Live
“ I wonder if everyone wants to listen to rare songs or nostalgic songs. ? ?” She also said she wants to perform album tracks from Remember You. Imagine if she does a 2.5-3 hrs show and the set list is 1/3 classics/nostalgia, 1/3 rare/never performed and 1/3 tracks from Remember You…and then she announces retirement. |
It sounds like retirement, which does not surprise me. Before, her health condition was only affecting her own life and she was pretty clear on going till the end.
Now that she has someone to take care of, I guess and hope she realized she may should stay healthy to experience as much of her childs life as possible. Putting a random and cryptic insta post four month ahead is not a very classy way to deal with it tho - given it is retirement indeed. |
Retirement or a final tour before retirement. I guess both are valid. It saddens me a bit but com on, her health lately is not that good.
She needs to rest and to raise her children. And to see her EU/US fans by visiting their country. :p But come on, 4 month before we know ... :/ |
I wish she just going to switch avex into her own label
|
If she was thinking of announcing that she's retiring, she wouldn't have sung Decision and Love Songs during the CDL since those are songs about how she's firmly going to keep singing/be an artist at whatever cost.
I guess it could be that - her 25th anniversary tour will be her last one but she will keep releasing songs now and then at her own pace - a world tour that will be her first and last world tour - she's leaving Avex and continuing her career on her own |
FINAL TOUR “Remember me”?
|
She has been wearing a 25th Anniversary hoodie on her CDL preperations and it says ARIGATO in the bottom of the back. I actually got retirement feeling of that as well :no this is so sad if it turns out to be true even tho we all know she can't go forever
I wonder when these tickets goes for lottery? Maybe on January? I have to join TA before they do |
I think there's a very high chance it's retirement too. I just hope she will give her fans one year period to attend her last tour or something before she really goes out of sight.
And now I think of it, the album "Remember you" will be her last album too, with the title saying ayu will "remember you" (all of her fans) :'( |
I hope she just stops touring but will continue with her music, that would not be that painful as a complete retirement.
|
|
The phrase on the 25th anni shirts/sweaters might have a hint maybe?
"HOW FAR HAVE YOU WALKED? HOW FAR TO WHERE YOU WANT TO GO? HOW FAR DO YOU WANT TO WALK? WHO DO YOU WANT TO SEE THE SCENERY WITH?" or something like that... |

I am not delusional, I'm just trying to pick up elements, but a retirement would be very surprising as she still seems to be in this "no matter what I'll sing as long as I can" place.
Of course it's a possibility but it would be quite shocking imo. As much as I "know" her that announcement means "more" than "less". But once more I could be totally wrong. I personally wish she could release music forever, but I also wish she would take care of her health better. Especially with her hearing issue. |

I can't stand the fact she just leaves us hanging like that. Just say what it is now, so everyone can prepare and not be anxious until April 8th, while trying to decipher all kinds of cryptic messages. I really hope it's just her leaving avex or something. That would be big news. |

I hope she's not going to retire. She's only 44 years old. Even Madonna is still working. Western artists never retire. They take long breaks and they release an album when they feel like it.
Some American artists still tour when they are 70. I guess I'm being selfish here but I really want to attend a concert of hers. It's on my bucket list. If she retires this year, I will never experience it in person. |
I also get big retirement vibes with this post.... I do hope it's not that, but if it is, that she will announce a last tour to allow fans to go see her one last (or first, as in my case) time...
Can't even imagine not having Ayu in my life, this is quite an upsetting start to 2023!!:weep |
Quote:
|
well, i really wish she would "take a break",
her health is not going well from what i noticed watching the CDL (in several songs, we see loss of rhythm, breath and out of tune). BUT I also wish that she continues with her dreams and that she gives us away when she can, just like western singers do... I don't want to think that "this is the end of an era"(duty)! |
45 is definitely not an age where it's "time to retire". Look at Seiko or Yuming. However, even if she doesn't retire this year/next year, I unfortunately doubt that we're going to see Ayu perform at 60. As much as it hurts to think about it, I don't think her ear will last this long.
In a sense, her career is like a bomb that could go off any time.. It's been 6 years since she announced that her right ear is deteriorating, so who knows how many years she has left. :( It's heartbreaking but Ayu's career was always going to be 'cut short' probably. I know there are deaf singers but I don't think Ayu could perform at her current level with no hearing at all. I just hope her right ear works for as long as it possibly can. I actually think her energy level at the latest CDL was much better than it has been in other shows since 2020 (though those were still great imo). She seemed happy, moved a lot more again & just gave me less restrained vibe, which is probably related to her not having to deal with a broken ankle or having given birth less than a year ago, as it was the case in both 2020 and 2021. Vocally it was less controlled than CDL21-22 but most of the performances were solid, especially considering the song choices and her having some issues with her in-ear monitor. Nontheless, I'm really glad when we finally know what this is all about. |
Quote:
But in all honesty I don't think it's about retirement, she loves performing way too much. |
I really doubt she would stop performing and keep releasing music. If anything, she seems more passionate about performing her music than actually creating it (I really hope she hasn't completely lost her passion for the latter, or will at least regain it in the future though).
I do fear that the news might be about her retirement, but it could also be other things. I've been through some really rough times lately, so retirement news would be an especially hard blow at this time, since her music helps me cope and I also have this hope of seeing her live again someday, which won't be feasible within the next few years So although I would understand if she decided to retire, I just hope she doesn't want to do that and the big news is about something else. Besides, ayu has always been quite a troll, so her announcements are often not what everyone expects. Basically, I'm preparing for the worst but hoping for the best I guess |

What if she focused her energies exclusively on countdown lives? I actually think that would be pretty cool, and badass. She records leisurely and every year she takes the stage for a single (our double) night only. Or, maybe it’s not once a year New Year’s Eve, but once a year on her anniversary date, of which this year would be the first.
|
I mean, the thought got me shocked. A world without Au. On the other hand, She released barely anything in the last years. This year was a lot more than usual. I am not the biggest fan of her recent music. Some are better than others. I knew that she kept going and i was happy for her (and for myself) but just the fact, that she will announce her retirement and i will not hear news about her makes me sad. A part of my jouth will disappear thats so sad.
|
I also expect the retirement news and, although it pains me. I am for it. Her health is decreasing and she cannot performs well on stage, live anymore. I still enjoy her show as i have a connection with her, but from an objective point of you, she is struggling more and more every year. Artistically, she also is uninspired and struggles to create content. ''(NOT) Remember you'' is a great suprise, but most of her songs from the past 6 years have been quite average to her standards and she publicly shares her struggles about it.
Her sales have also decreased a lot, both in releases and concert tickets. Maybe she doesn't want to tarnish her legacy further more and leave while she is still somewhat respected. I doubt she doesn't care about that as this is one of the reasons we don't get physical singles anymore. |

That guy is also pretty famous! He's KENTARO formerly from a metal band, Gargoyle.
|
The time between now and the impending announcement on the 08/04 will be the slowest
If it's what we fear/suspect, I'll be organising a trip to Japan to see Ayu live for my first and only time (how I'll gather the money for that I don't know) |
Sounds ominous like a retirement.........but she doesn't control any of her social media herself these days does she? Watch it be something like "the first and last official autobiography" or she's launching a limited run pop-up shop for the 25th anni goods.
If she is retiring, I don't know how I'll get there this year, hopefully we get a livestream opportunity! |
watch it being "latest" instead of "last"
|
What if the big announcement is a World Tour?
I mean, she could easily perform in a small venue, like she already does. Doesn’t need to be an arena. She can do 1 or 2 concert in Europe (Paris and London), North America (New York and Los Angeles) and maybe South America and Australia. I’m just forcing myself to think positively about that announcement. I strongly fear that she will retire. I’m just hoping I’m wrong and that she’ll finally rewards her oversea fans for our loyalty. |
I think she missed time when she was able to fill venue at the world today, even a small one
|
Maybe in the end it'll be that...Midori is retiring.
|
How this supposed "announcement" impacted japanese tv shows/media?
|
i hope her announcement about "A BEST 3' for her 25th anniv, maybe....

When I saw ayu perforemance Mask in CDL22-23 again,Why I feeling this song's meaning "Ayu Stop Singing" ? and Mask is main part last song, after NEXT LEVEL......
Anyway, now a lot of China/Taiwan/Japanese fans think the "first & last" message is... -- she will hold world tour -- she will leave AVEX and build her own lable -- she will announce "Remember you" is her last album -- she really retire |
We could have some fun with a "Wrong answers only" thread :P
- Ayu realised she is actually a "cat person" and will discontinue all dog-related merch for cat themes - she confirms she was produced by the illuminati after all - as "Hamasaki Ayumi" is separate from Ayu herself, she will be passing on the persona of "Hamasaki Ayumi" to a new artist and will reinvent herself....somehow it ties into MASK - she will run as a politician - announcing a once-of crossover single with one of the 48G |
If Ayu did manage to do an (A)KB25 collab for the 25th.....
|
when should we expect the ticket sale or pre-sale?
|
I assuming the announcement will be that she is taking a break with the kids getting older and her health issues.
|
maybe she will reunin all old member (yo chan-Enrique-dancers-pico….)
|

Chill y'all! I assure everyone she will (NOT) Definitely retire :dead2 |
Remember you probably means remember ayu.
Mask probably means she covers herself for a long time and wants to unmask it. |

I think you guys are forgetting that she has said multiple times, especially recently, that she has no plans to stop and that she felt that she found "Ayu" again recently. The most recent Countdown Live really had a lot of hints of the old Ayu, too. Given what she has said, I really, really don't think this is a retirement announcement - it's way too out of character.
Also, she showed the most energy and breath control in her latest concert in a long time. The notes not being hit are almost surely a problem with her just not being able to hear the notes; it's possible that the sound system just wasn't set up optimally, or her hearing was worse during that concert. But her vocal condition was great. |

Hmm, it's hard to follow that one, but . . . Ayu has been chosen to test the world's first Iron Man suit. She's heading for a secret bunker on the same day the new album drops. |

first and last big news...
maybe she's finally marrying Max Matsuura!! and then he stops all his notorious YouTube activites :laugh |
Madonna has announced her new tour for celebrating.
Ayu loves Madonna. Madonna has never retired. If Madonna inspires you and your career, you should not retire, ayu. |

'A' world tour would be a very very very welcome gift
With a stop in Australia during the Oceania leg please |
Definitely will not be retirement announcement. She said in the call with Max today on Youtube Live that while she can't say she'll be singing until she dies, there aren't any plans for her to leave the company or to retire / quit.
|
I wish she would announce the lottery already. I'm planning on going, but I'd like to know I have a concert ticket before I book a plane ticket.

Usually are there not another ways to buy a ticket beside the lottery from the fan club?
|
It's Yoyogi - it won't sell out. If you don't get a ticket in the lottery (highly unlikely), just buy a ticket from Lawson when you get to Japan.

well, i don't think she would announce a retirement during this iconic concert.. |
