'Memorial Address' sells over 1 million copies
 

I had noticed this earlier today from Yomiuri, but for those who didn't see it, here's a short except from the article on the site:

...According to Avex of a putting on the market on the market agency, the mini-album "Memorial address" just put on the market on December 17 already breaks through 1,100,000 sales. Total energy will be poured into national tour (29 public performances) from the 24th 2004 this month. It will be debut circle six years in April. Hamazaki who reached to an extreme of the peak of a music scene of Japan at –Ò speed goes to a stage new again...

tho i have to admits that before when i knew it was a mini album with only 3 new songs i don't have too much faith especially reachin 1 million would be even hard but i WAS SO impressed when i listen to it to the REAL thing and got my faith back to my dearest angel ayu-chan!!!its totally rockin!!

avex actually made good business decisions this time, the album is selling sooooo freaking well! and especially so for a mini-album.....go ayu!!!!!

At the end of the article, of course, there is a mini-bio, you know? Her real name is •l�è•à. I had a feeling there was a kanji to her first name, she just didn't use it. Same with Suzuki Ami. She always wrote "Ami" in hiragana, but there was a kanji for her name. This isn't uncommon among stars, I think. But there is always the instance where there really is no kanji for the first name, just hiragana or katakana. Still, it's interesting!! I assume her first name is still pronounced "ayumi."

Hi! This is my first post at this forum. I've been an Ayu fan since late Summer (I'm a newbie) although I've been aware of her since this time last year. I have the 'Loveppears' and 'Duty' albums, but I have not yet managed to obtain anything else, due to severe lack of disposable income. :( Personally, I think it's fantastic that 'Memorial Dress' has managed to shift 1,100,000 copies in just a two week span. Wow. Ayu's time is NOT up, despite all the negative media attention these days which she has fallen trap to. If this is Ayumi Hamasaki being a flop, then I COULDN'T imagine what it was like at her 'peak'. Woo-hoo! Go Ayu!

One million copies! wow this is great news! She's at the top once again! I'm so glad in one of them who brought her cd. I hope her work will continue to progress as time goes by. Yay im soo excited!! Thanks for the news! congratz to Ayu! ^___^

Planet Chart ranks Memorial Address at #6, so I wonder what the sales info for this week will be...

Oricon now lists new info about the album rankings, with this week's total at 306,521. So.. add this to the previous amount of sold copies of:

Week 1: 210k
Week 2: 524k
Week 3: 306k

The total has exceeded 1, 040, 000 sales! Go Ayu :D !

I made a mistake with this... I forgot that the number 524,028 was the total sales from the 1st and 2nd week, so add that to 306,521 and the total so far is 830,549... sorry for the wrong info :(

The road to 1 million sales seems to have hit a stalemate...

This week's Oricon sales for Memorial Address is 63,471 , which is quite the decline from last week's sales. Whether that means that the sales number won't get that high in subsequent weeks, I think Ayu might break 1 million in about 2-3 weeks with figures like these. Let's just hope that her new CD will get people active in buying this mini-album ;) !

This week's sales for "Love" is 37,546, which is about 1/2 of what Memorial Address sold, so while I dunno the total stats for "Love", I think Ayu's CD outsold hers ^^

Some info that was posted at AyuRevo shows that according to the RIAJ, MA sold over a million copies (along with A BALLADS, which we already knew), so I'm still not sure about a definitive stat to follow for sales.

Also, the Oricon stats for this week show that MA dropped to 16th place and sold 17,520 copies.

16th place? Well MA's been out for a month and a half, so I am still surprised that it's even in the top 20.

MA hasn't outsold LOVE yet from what I know, LOVE was released a few weeks earlier to MA though, LOVE sold around 1,200,000 so far from what I've heard.

Too bad she doesn't get a good long rest as her concert tour is still up, not to mention commercials, photo shoots, creating new songs, etc.

MA on week 2/23 has sold 9,993 and is now 25th. Anyone know the oricon numbers from previous weeks?

I believe it sold about 11,000+ copies last week, but it doesn't seem to be enough to get it to 1 million yet.. :(
