Sing with instrumental?
for those of you karaokeers out there what do you do when you sing with ayumi's instrumentals?? its like literally impossible for me because her background voices in the instrumentals gets me out of tuen all the time, and i cant really tune out her voice. any tips from skilled singers? :(
|
I'm not skilled at all, but after trying out for the karaoke contest, I found that the slight vocals did help a bit. It's more like a guide than a hinderance, esp. to people like me who don't memorize all her songs ;)

I sing Ayu karaoke all the time...I don't know...I kind of like the backup singing. XD Sometimes it's hard for me to meet Ayu's range, so I go with the harmony that the backup sings instead. (Dearest and Voyage, anyone?) Sometimes if you listen to how Ayu sings it first, then you can go back and try it on your own with the right notes if the backup really gives you problems. Sometimes this works for me.
*thumbs up* Keep working at it! Karaoke is fun. @.@ |
I use goldwave to combine my voice with the instrument, if I forget the keys and/or words then I can look them up at my Ayu sheet music. Ayu's background sounds more nice and helpful then a hinderance, although her voice is quite high for some of you guys, you can sing an octave lower.

I sing by myself on the bus maybe, but not very loud. :P Never try it on karaoke

I just suck at singing, and my family doesn't like to sing japanese songs..I'm the only one..so..

Haha! Ayu karaoke...
Sometimes, on the rare occassions when I'm home alone, I dump all my homework and responsibilities no matter how busy I am, and I blast Ayu music through our karaoke machine, and I sing sing SING!! It's so fun. And kinda loud. Our neighbor complained once. I turned red as an apple. hehe. |
i sing ayu songs ALL the time so...i'm not bothered by the background singing. I sing her songs everywhere!
|
Sometimes the background vocals get me out of tune too... ^^;;
|
I love to sing Ayu's instrumental versions. Singing is my life =)
I think the backround vocals is great. Singing alone without backround singers is boring. |
i sometimes get messed up with the bg vocals, but i just consentrate on how its suppose to go, if i actually record the vocals to track, i put headphones on sing to the original :P

Eh, I've tried singing to the instrumental of "evolution". I just concentrate really hard, I guess. It also helps that I've listened to "evolution" a lot and if I can get my focus, I can pretty much sing the whole thing. The background vocals don't throw me off that much; they kinda help in some cases.
|
i think that using a special program like Goldwave can help.
|
Keep the main vocals in mind and memorize them well, and just really really concentrate..^^
|
ano...i haven't done that in a while...hmm....maybe i should...im in chorus so im a lot better than i used to be singing wise...now i never get confused w/ the soprano parts...
|
For me, the backround vocals just throw me off completely and sometimes when I sing (Ex. "No way to say") the instruments kind of give me an edge on my timing. Blehh....I'm working on it. "Moments" has been tough for me since I don't know the Romaji lyrics.

Like Unimatrix, background music helps me, though songs like Evolution are still quite hard to get use to singing.
Hpwever songs like Rainbow, I could probably sing it with no music. It's always playing in my head o.O; |

I don't think there has ever been a literal "instrumental" with no backing vocals at all on any Ayu release has there?
Its odd how some artists have totally "instrumental" tracks while some leave the backing vocals in. I think the idea of leaving them in is so that you harmonize with them like Ayu does in the original recordings. This is unlikely for most people-as backing vocals rarely mix as well with anyone apart from who they were recorded for. I like to hear the harmony arrangements in the backing vocals but sometimes I'd like a total instrumental as I think they still cover up a great deal of the music. Leaving backing vocals in are also a good tool for preventing illegal copying of a track. With backing vocals its harder to record the song into another language etc. and pass it off as your own. A big-scale artist such as Ayu obviously needs this level of protection at every opportunity. I think, also, musical style often dictates the necessity of backing vocals remaining in instrumental tracks. Hp-Hop/R&B/Pop songs traditional come with instrumentals (even in the west) as they are often spun at clubs as tracks in their own right. So its more common for people like Namie Amuro to have total-instrumentals over Ayu. Just my thoughts. |

Nah, the background vocals really sucks when someone tries to sing the song...not only does it sound out of place against the main voice but after a while you tend to sing along with the harmonies instead. And you can't tell if whether you're singing the right note cuz of the harmonies...-_-''
|
I always like to sing with instrumental, and I like those background vocals...it make the whole song sounds "fuller" and with more depth...at the same time, I can learn how to harmonize ^^
|
Yah, the bg vocals are more of a hiderance than help to me...
Espcially the song... No Way to Say... |
When you sing, wear a headset playign the original version while recording to the instrumentals if your makign a track..
