Thoughts about the INSPIRE PV
Whoa. I really did NOT expect this. In my opinion, it was not really fitting of the song. I was like: She's dancing with shirtless guys..and was in LA. Huh? I don't really sense any time of underlying story or something, like in Moments. Anyone else have any thoughts? ;-;
Zeo |
It has a meaning o.o It's Ayu's past life >< And when she looks at the billboard, she remembers everything. And then, she sees that guy, and he was dancing with her in his past life too o_O' That's the meaning \o/
weehee u.u stopping the jokes, I didn't like it very much. She's nice (but waaay strange) with those big 'nails' and the butterfly on her back. o.o |
I didn't really like it. I guess I just don't like her dancing in PVs, but it kinda threw off the whole feeling of the PV to me. The whole bit around 1:34 of the PV made me think of some Britney PV for some reason, and... I dunno... it's not really a fav of mine.
|
:puke
Oh my god... that was awful. Its like something Id see on MTV over here >< The only part I liked was when its like around the 3rd chorus and theres not much music, and shes in the desert with her hands sorta on her back... I though that was really pretty... But I hated the video... pretty much with a passion. That one part was the only thing I liked... >< Dancing automatically ruins a PV for me... ><;;; Why Ayu, why!? |

O_O! Ayu's past life was filled with funky dancing and shirtless men? =3 So awesome.. *_* jk
Zeo |
But oh my gosh.. I loved it.
The dancing was the only thing I hated. I dunno... is it just me? I can totally relate, i guess, to the PV... This somewhat reminds me of SURREAL when she says "In a nonexistant place I stand as I am, please be yourself, thats how I want you to be." I thought though that she was in LA and then automatically an indian thing though was strange. . . . Her nails were nice. I love the butterfly. Her hair color was pretty too. I liked it... *EDIT*: I still like it. hah. LOL ANd I think it did the song justice. It redeemed it so muchypoo. Wow I want to buy the dvd. That was a good PV. Hahaha its probably just me who likes this. I often find myself turning around and looking at guys because either A) theyre super hot heh or B) they look like someone i know or something I've seen before. And if my whole theory on "be yourself" is correct, Then ayu notices some of these people have something in common with her? Just a thought. |
Bad PV for a Bad Song.
|
BTW; let's just all hope that GAME's is better. <3

erm--more exciting then some so thats good, the song ruined the pv i guess.
i think...the concept was the same as greatful days sort of, but with a completely different theme. shes doign somethign casual like sitting or wlaking and sees somethign exciting and "gets into it" in one way or another. i have no idea how it has to do with the song though, but i didnt like the song so that doesnt matter anyways. haha...the whole beach dance reminded me a bit of destiny's child's "survivor" but instead of a stranded island it was in india or something. the dance didnt bother me so much, since it was better than the real me one. ha ha ha. other then that, interesting pv. oh yeah, the song and the pv are both pretty meaningless to me, but the pv was just um..nicer to look at. |
everyone is entitled to their own opinion so here is mine.
this was truly the worst ayu pv ayumi has everdone in her career. I hated the whole concept, the dancing, the city, then to the desert/beach setting. The pv did not fit the song at all. I didnt not like. such a shame, there were so many possibilities ayu couldve done with this song, but this was a very bad pv. it was way too different akward and bad, i think they went to ahead on the video....sorry guys forgot one thing, the only thing i liked was her pink hat in the beginning :dead2 |
They'll love INSPIRE until the next new song they hear...
|
hahahaahhaa. oh yeah, i changed my mind. its thailand and middle asia deserts. not india. cause the whole long nail dancing part was from thai, right? just a guess out of the blue.
|
my opinion on it is that ayumi has come to the point where she knows what she has to say - the "no one can live without love" - and i feel the way she says it in the chrous when she's dancing is so effective. it's not weak or understated, it's "here-i-am, dancing-in-the-water-with-hot-men, dressed-like-a-vamp, AND-THIS-IS-WHAT-IT-IS!".... it's strong, effective, visual, and certainly unique. it follows a tradition that she's established.
this is a very strong visual/audio/content tie-in. not as strong as OURSELVES - which i think in terms of linking content with audio and visuals, was simply her best - but i loved it. moments may have been pretty, but it was weak. i think INSPIRE is just a video of celebration, of expression, of ayumi, of her experience, of who she is. and i love it. ps. easy breezy eats ass. |
haha, ayumi, you go girl!
YOU PIMP THAT ****!! WOO!! haha she is so freaking awesome. haha. |
Nothing extraordinary, I like the song but I dislike the PV :P
|
i like her hummer limo.

Ayu's known for doing things differently all the time. She doesn't stick to one pattern, well, the pattern of change. I won't hate her for this, I won't praise her for it though.
I really don't like the song. I think the video itself had really pretty scenes but that isn't going to get me all excited. I wonder how the Japanese fans are going to take this. I wonder how sales are going to be. ~~~~~~~~~ I can't wait until Kevin posts his thoughts XD LOL |
i kinda expected dancing in the PV.
cuz the song had a dancy feel to it. i don't think it was her best. though i did like the ethnic look to it. :] it reminded me of india. |

I agree with you 100%!!! I loved this song, and I don't really quite understand why everyone hates it, but I guess most of you (and I say most of you because most of you do hate it) can't understand what the heck is in my head either. The only part where I disagree with Zesty is the dancing. I mean, I love to dance and I love to watch people dance. And to me, the fact that Ayu had a little dancing in her PV didn't ruin anything, because, frankly, dancing in a desert is a LOT more interesting than sitting in a library with a pretty dress on. Besides, aren't people always saying Ayu can't dance? and now she dances a little...and whammo! everybody starts criticizing her. Okay, i'll shut up now. I LOVE THIS PV! |
Ehh I would've liked an actually story to go with it so the PV was disappointing for me, not what I expected at all, the PV just seems so...typical. It wasn't bad though, although I'll have to wait for a better quality one to watch since the video from ayuconnected consisted of a bunch of blocks.

THE PART where ayumi looks like shes growling and crawling in water bothered me. The dancing was okay. |
I like it!I like Ayu to put the front hair back!I like Ayu with mouth very very red.She has a special feeling, and it made me amuzing!!!Thins PV is :yes!!!

The video wasnt that bad, and nor is the song =o I dont know, the dancing was awful but its not a britney spears pv or who ever dances well in america now...asher? usher? ashton kutcher. :tired There was some symbolism things in that video as well. :eyebrow <3 Hummer limo |
It might not be her best pv but it is not bad.
although when you compare it with her other pv's it might not be that gd.(might be because she changed her style a bit) but compared to pv's by other artists, i think it is still really gd. like...try comparing to pv's by BoA. (eg Double, Valenti, Amazing Kiss) where there is soooo much dancing that i dont even want to watch it after a while... Although Ayu dances in this pv, i dont think it is bad...there is a change in setting in the dancing at it doesnt get boring like BoA's pvs, where she dances too much. Actually, i like Ayu doing some dancing occasionally, like when in Real Me kind of dancing, when people beside her do the same dance, which was exactly what was in Inspire when she was on the beach. but i wont want her to do dancing for every pv. it would get boring. (but i thought Real Me was way better...maybe its because of the costume and the storyline in the pv, and her dancing was totally unexpected and i was quite surprised to see dancing from that pv. it just didnt have a dancy feeling until that point.) I personally think that Inspire pv would have been much better if it had more story line instead of just dancing in her past life. btw, it was an excellent pv, compared to pv's by other artists which often gets boring when there is dancing in it. |
I liked the Indian/Thai theme. Too bad they did nothing with it. If it had a storyline without dancing and skanky guys it would be an awesome PV.
|
Yeah I hate the skank guys too! :mad

This is one of Ayu's-probably the worst PV ever besides "The Trilogy".
I didn't catch any symbolism or any of that natural Ayu stuff. I mean, come on....dancing with all these guys and dirty dancing with a shirtless guy (there was a small segment) is something I would expect and accept from BoA....but not Ayu. Ugh.....I don't like this PV. It's worse than "The Triolgy" PV. |
I wasn't sure what I thought the first time I saw it...granted, I like the song...
I thought she was really beautiful the entire time, and although her dancing seemed a bit shaky (the part of her in the waves made me kinda sit back too O_O) you can tell that she was putting her all into it. I kinda got the "this is her past life" vibe too, especially at the end when she and the other guy recognize each other. I like all the flashy colors and sparklies too. XD <--simpled minded at times Finaly note? I want that freakin' limo...shwing... |
THIS PVS ALOT BETTER THAN MOMENTS!
i like dancing ayu more than crazy crying mascara ayumi looking at kids devour little manequins!! its new and refreshing~ ayu does that to keep up with the current japan.. and about easy breezy.. the chrous is wonderful.. but the lyrics.. omg.. how can someone go from singing by your side / blow my whistle to this crap?? its like... missy elliot turning into hilary duff!! sounds like some hilary duff crap (except the chorus is good..but everything OMG) |
Didnt it seem like the theme was "we've gotta make it through the desert, but together (and with some dancing) we can do it!" and its more like the flash back to her past life. So she had to bare her way (dancing and being carried) through the desert and the hard times to get to the good times (having money and love of millions) in the now. Its almost like the past was more, timid and ununctrolled, and the present is control (with buildings and stuff). =\ anyone agree?
Moments was so a better pv, it was pointless at times but it had better symbolism, like the kids breaking those facless drawing maniquins, a much sweeter pv. And "real me" was kind of the same...maniquins are just facless until you put a face on them. |
Reposted from other Inspire PV Thread:
I liked the song for a while but now I'm sick of it...I watched this video and I was pretty disgusted (no offense)...I thought Real Me would be the first and last video with dancing (Evolution doesn't count)...The whole video was just not really very Ayumi...I wanted her to do something different, but I guess I would have prefered something good and familiar. I hope Game's PV is better...*very glad he didn't get the Inspire CD+DVD* I would have prefered something similar to the cover...I think her hair and clothes bugged me a lot...She should go back to black hair, it looks good, like in Kanariya! :yes |
I think that I'm going to really love this PV as I was totally in love with [Real me] but I think most people dislike it because it doesn't have a 'story' or 'deep meaning' that were all use to from Ayu. Maybe she just wanted to have some fun and be just a little crazy hahaha but overall I think it's not bad.
|
Oddly enough, I love Real Me's PV, but I hate this video...

a lotta namie's videos r just dancing too..

Real me wasnt that bad of a video, in a way it was corny, Inspire isnt corny video at all, but it dosent seem hamasaki like to me either.
|
its a nice pv ^^
|
there are storyline, did any notice there are butterfly in Ayu's back and in the entire pv, and there are also spider web that symbolize something? and the billboard is different in the end, a red object(can't figure out what it is) was added in the board.
|
The PV is all about art, just like the reason ayu gave for making the song. If you notice you have many srtyles of art featuring in it.
-The Paintings -The Dancing -The Architeture -The Theater -The Filming (PV itself LOL) -The Music (obviously) I love the coreography, looks really egyptian, they definitely put some efforts in making that, it isn't like a typical BoA coreography you will see out there and neither that childish Trauma dance but something mature instead. There's quite a lot of style I think. |

Yeah but Namie's a dancer and she has the proper poise.
Didn't like the PV very much at all. Some visuals like the butterfly and riding on the cart were alright, the rest I didn't like. Real Me, I liked the dancing, some of it was interesting, this one I really didn't like it whatsoever. It's like watching your (blood related female family member) jump up on a table and strip. Not someone you expect to see acting that way, not someone you want to (assuming you're not into incest). Again with the red makeup, cherry/brick/fire engine red is awful IMO on her. Clothing is fine, on her face it completely detracts from everything else. The tight pulled back hair also got to me, japanese females just really never look good in cornrows/tight pulled-back braids 99.9% of the time. Off of image, it seems like the director mashed the Voyage video into barely recognizable chunks, masticated it, then vomited it all back up into a bowl of hibiscuses in the middle of an LA ghetto with hispanics playing guitars in the background. Y'know what I think might've worked since it seems they were so intent on copying Voyage? Subservient girl getting married to someone she doesn't want to, escaping her family/marriage and living the life she wanted, loving whom she wanted to love. Trite, cheesy, overdone, but better than what they served up here. This has about as much plot as Panic Room and I hated that movie with a passion, I went to go see it because I got in free. Like someone else mentioned, this looks like something Britney Spears would've done, bad dancing and all. |
she's beautiful... and the BOYS!! o_O' *noosebleed*

x-posted in other Inspire Thread:
ayu's gone hindu with those mad nail things - they look great. I must admit that's the only part of the clip I actually like...it is easier to understand than a lot of her clips, but after ourselves and Because of you etc. I was expecting more of her incredible originality and flare...this is just mediocre, in Ayu-terms anyway. I still really like the song...and from the picture on the "Inspire" CD I was hoping that would reflect the PV...oh well... |
hahaha... it's indian... not LAtin at all!!!....
-I think AYU had a nose-job? anyone noticed that? on the scene minute 2:08 her nose looks different. -I like this video and and before in thread on thoughts of how the PV would be like.. I said.. this is what I saidn 23rd June 2004, 11:34 am hehehe QUOTE: "I think her video would be like she walking down a street.. with things going on arounde her... then turning into something fantastic but i don't know what.... or her face in front of the camera in a fantastinc setting or... something like never ever.. not very original..? hehehehe" that's the last scene hehe... so i kinda guess it. |
All I can say is, I want her hat.
|
I don't understand why ALL of Ayu's PV's have to have a plot... they are JUST Promotional Videos after all. And like Impact said maybe it's just a celebration of love and art and not necessarily having to focus on a plot most of her PVs come to think of it don't really have a plot...
|
Well, this song kinda was made for the Guggenheim art exhibition =3
Zeo |
My honest opinion is: I loved the PV!!!! Mostly because of the guys...........and they were shirtless. :D what more can you ask for!!?? at least it didn't have half nude Indian/Egyptian/Thai/Sri Lankan/whatever -looking girls dancing around wiggling their assets, or whatever. I hope Ayu keeps this tradition.
|
Aaaah, i loved this video!
I just don't know, the director made a great job, it fits the song very well. I just take it how it is, an entertaining song with an entertaining PV. It doesn't need a story all the time! I just really like it (Ayu looks hot, new style, good dancing, but not like if it was a "Britney dancing" or something) Quote:
|
britney's a fat cunty b i t c h compared to ayumi, HA
i still maintain that INSPIRE kicks hella ass |
well after watch it for more couple of times ^^ I see that the art in the PV reminds me of Guggenheim (which is an art exhibition) n she mixed it up welll (I think very well absolutely perfect) with the plot of the lyric of inspire ^^... Its said that no one can live without love n I think the song reflects her past life (I agree with impact n BigJimmyC) (remember the part of a song for x x when theres a phrase "I was born lonely n Im going to continue living alone) now she realize that no one can live without love (remember UNITE! a song bout tomoya nagase's part in ayu's personal life!) ^^
|
I think that PV is rather cool! It has a fusion of orientalism and a lot of other arty elements in there! It's really very cool. There's this stark of colours, imagery of redness, passion etc.
Well, you can see, it's for an art exhibition. Ayu said so that she summed up the emotions she had while looking at the exhibition and tried to covey it through this song so yar, I think it's quite a good effort. I'm seriously doubting the LA city though, seems really like a weird fusion of tastes! (So Americanized!) I don't really get what the heck the PV is trying to put across but I think that change is always good. I don't really know how I feel about this PV. It's cool but at the same time, I think I need time to adjust to this new feel that Ayumi is grasping. Well, to sum it up, I think we should always keep in mind that elements in the MTV are well, mostly by the director of the MTV! I still like Ayumi with her image, I guess we'll have to wait for Ayu's own comment on her video! Overall, it's still a good video. Though not as good as her other videos but I still think it's a refreshing episode in Ayu's career. But I think yar, probably the change is sorta too drastic for me to handle at the moment. I think it's going downhill rather than uphill ... |
INSPIRE GOT TWO :thumbsup :thumbsup from me.
ayumaria. |
PV to "INSPIRE" isn't bed but isn't also nothing special. This is typical video for female artists (beautifull scenery + mostly dance) but this type of videos isn't typical for AYU (who's dance rarely). She don't released much PV like this - PV for "Greatful days" was last so... I think that if AYU choose this type of video from time to time we should fun this videos even if we don't like them so much like her other PV's. Everyone of us likes something different on Ayumi's artist work - for ones her new video will be 'great' for others 'not bed' and for rest 'bed'... In my opinion "INSPIRE" is good song (but I like "GAME" much) and PV is not too bad (but can be better)...
|
i absolutely love it!! it was sooooooo colorful & lively perfect for the art exhibition. im buying the cd+dvd version for sure so i can see all the colors & everything nice & clear!! gooo ayuuuuuuu!! hehe
|
I dislike the pv! Ayu is still beautiful and all, but her facial expressions are awkward. Like with her mouth opening wide, and her eyes opening REALLY wide!
It's like she's trying to accent her eyes too much, and it becomes scary. Does anybody else think that recently, when she's singing, she's unatural looking? |
i think its cuz the quality sux...the pixels are liek..a centimeter large..-__-"
|
I like the 'all life is art' theme to the PV. Ayu looks at the picture, and sees all this art. The art she sees all fits in with the kind of things you'd see in the Guggenheim exhibition, and at the end a man passes her, and she saw him in her 'art' daydream, and he passes someone else from it, etc. On the whole, a creative PV, tying in with the exhibition and the lyrics. The only thing that lowers the classy look of the whole thing is the dancing in the waves/red dress/pop tart scene - without that it would be much better. It's just too mainstream, and doesn't fit in with the whole 'art' theme.
|
i thought the pv was REALLY bad...
song was good though |
I like it. :yes A lot.
That's all I'm saying, because I don't feel like getting into an argument over its wonderful-ness with anyone today. :) |
after seeing the PV more. i do see an art resemblence.
the dance itself is art if you see what i mean. it's like a culture reference. |
I love the PV.
|
I think the PV is okay , just one bad detail . maybe it's just me but i think she looks like crap when she dances on the beach , that weird lipstick and hair thing. and i don't think those sort of dance moves fit ayu , in my opinion you'd need someone with more sex appeal to pull those sort of moves and look good . someone like britney , lol :P
|
OMG people moving in synchronization ahhhh LOL joking. :rolleyes
What the hell is wrong with her dancing????? It is not like they show her doing it a lot. The Thai/Indian look to the video was awesome. I loved that. The men were cool too. :spinning Hey, I don't mind some good lookin shirtless men! She is a grown woman not a teenager, so if she wants some eye candy then I say go for it. I loved the look of the video and the dancing, even if she isn't the best dancer. She is not going to turn into Boa and dance the whole time. That is why they only showed her a few times. Ayu has reinvented her image many times this is just one of her many faces, I don't see the big deal. |
this PV is stupid, those who like it are only making excuses for her. Someone's trash is anothers treasure, but it's still trash to the first person :yes
PS. she's officially gone from "she sucks" to "she's a skank" in my book |
I think I agree with what Afanforxx said...:P

In another thread I mentioned that I liked where the director for INSPIRE took for the song. The whole dancing/Egyptian-Thai-Indian concept was completely unexpected to me and fit quite well with the song. I kinda agree with Impact about how the PV is all about art, but still there isn't a blatant meaning to the PV so it could be interpreted all sorts of different ways. However, I really can see how the art = Guggenheim Museum(s) connection can be made. |
i just got done watching the vid
so on just only watching it once here is my opinion: i feel strangely attracted to this vid O_o, im not sure if its because its the first time i heard the song.........but first i thought...man she is so super cute with her lil pink tank and hat........XP the song is interesting since it has this...india/gypsy sound, so i guess what she does in the vid is okay by me. seeing her 'dance' is always nice for me (strange but nice) i like seeing her do different things. i really could care less about the 'meaning' of what this vid could or does mean. i just like how it looks. its different than her other vids, some americans first pop video. but somehow i like it. . . . a lot :eyebrow thing i disliked the most: her hair in her lil indian outfit (u know with the long nails) i wasnt sure if its paint in her hair or if her hair stylist was washing her hair one day, and messing around with it while it was all shampoo'd and said 'wow this would be so neat to do one day!' =.=; thing i liked the most: her cute cute cute outfit/hat face/makeup for her regular LA look :) and then her hopping in the HUMMER!!! XP shweeeet <3 im sure after i watch it again, my opinion will change a lot XP so i will just never watch it again, i will wait for live vids :P (i dont really watch the vids that many times anyways) |
i think this PV really rocks. For instancem the scene where Ayu is in the desert and there is a butterfly tattoo on her back..
and she dances in this song, which is super new, and for her, really cool. Ayu can dance!! This song is also rockish, my favorite ^^. WANna hear GAME NOW!!!! |
I haven't seen the video for INSPIRE, but i still think it's a great song, and i almost like it more than GAME. they're both about equal, it would probably depend on my mood. I still like inspire even if the video is craptastic. [haven't seen it] have a nice day everyone :ysmile
|
isn't there dancing in the INSPIRE PV? i liked the dancing much better in this one than her dancing in Real Me. either she has gotten better or they made moves more suitable and easier to execute for her, cause i'm sorry to say it, but she ain't no namie, okaaay! much luv though.
|
I think all of 浜崎あゆみ stuffs are good!

I enjoyed it =D
