The Daybreak PV Discussion Thread
Read title.

I don't like this PV... I like the setting... But it seems as if she didn't do anything with it... She just walked... It was boring, and the mix (HALS MIX) sucks so theres really no way I could enjoy the PV... :P
|
Yeah it was an awfully boring pv, whos idea was it to shoot such a boring thing.
|
yeah it is kinda boring.
|
hmm thought this pv wasnt as gud as her rest, tend not to watch it very often at all.
|
I don't think it was a horrible PV. I just think it needed a bit more variety, but it was alright.
|
Thought it was unique. I think that PV is so I dunno.....It's like that road was a place for a car accident or a terrible murder. I just have this feeling, and ayu is like a ghost just coming to haunt at the camera and then disappears into the myst. I like it :)

I think many of you take for granted the symbolic things that occurred in this PV. Symbolic things don't have the be "in your face."
I'll take a quote from the post about INSPIRE Quote:
You stated that it was "cheap". Do you mean budget wise? Cause first of all, for a PV to be good, it doesn't mean a lot of money needs to be spent. You "ugh" at the mix they used. The mix they used suited the song more than the original. It's not a song that should have a faster beat nor harsher instruments. It's suppose to be a soft feel to it with a bit of sorrow. You said something about the eye make-up. Please read my take on the PV Daybreak below. The PV begins with a road and a figure in the distance slowly walking towards you. The figure finally comes into view. She almost appears like a ghost with the flowing material from her costume. As she begins to sing she states that she's lost her face. This is why I believe that the make-up was so dark for her eyes. It really brought a dramatic darkness to her, almost a ghostly feeling. I truly think the make-up is to represent her lost face like the lyrics state. Later in the PV after the first chorus Ayu states that Light and Darkness are the same thing. At this time small streaks of light play into the video lighting certain parts and then going back to darkness. I believe that the road that we see represents Ayu in her journey to find her 'face' and the person that she's travelling she and the person once dreamed of. I think that the road is meant to be dark because it shows that darkness is hard to get through yet she continues to walk. That's why in the end, she turns back around to continue fighting for that dream. I could have typed that up better but I didn't lol. I still think that people look at this and don't see anything that's flashy nor exciting and label it as stupid and lame. Which is pretty sad =\ |
It was a very unique PV.
And what I noticed was what Ayu was wearing was somewhat similar to what the ppl were wearing on Free & Easy's PV. |
I love this PV. I love her style, the setting is very beautiful and it fits the song. Like it very much ^^'
[edit]I loved hikari's explanation ^^"[/edit] |
I don't get why people have to be no negative towards it. Yes it may seem simple. But Ayu did it that way for a reason. If the song was fast or she danced or whatever than that wouldn't fit what Ayu was trying to get across. Ayu doesn't make PVs to necessarily please everyone to to show off a lot. She weaves a real meaning into all of her videos. I don't dislike any of her PVs. (To sound really sappy. It comes from her heart.) I know that her music is true to her and she feels strongly about so I appreciate that she doesn't slap together a really flashy video.
That's all. ^_^ |
I dunno about you guys but i just liked the video because i just thought it had a nice atmosphere also when i first heard that mix that setting came into mind (a road in the early morning). It was very freaky when i first saw the video since i had that same image in my mind.
|
Oh gosh.
Did you have to. |
Why so vague? Who are you referring to?
|
i dont like it nor hate it..
besides it is one of ayumi pv |
i thought it was a bit on the boring side.
yes, i did understand what the PV was about, but for me i like a bit more action. its just i can't stand seeing the same thing going on and on. |
I love the Daybreak PV, I've watched it for hours before. I also like H/\L's mix better than the original mix.

Mm, anyway, I liked it. Most would say it was boring -- I would've said the same thing at first -- but I think it's actually one of my favorites after many watches. There's something about it that I like a lot. Maybe it's because Daybreak is one of my favorite songs, and I always love H/\L remixes.. Yes, well, I liked it. So nyaaa. :P |
Made with $2 and some toilet paper.
|
You all got schooled by //hikari. :yes
I love Daybreak. :thumbsup |
I get that a PV could be very symbolic. But hey, Moments was symbolic too, and that one kept my attention a heck of a lot more than Daybreak did.
Yea, okay, walking down a dark deserted road shows something deep. But did she have to spend five whole minutes doing that?? Anything like that lasting for such a long time just automatically means snore. |
I won't say much.. Daybreak PV is :thumbsup....for me !!! :D
ayumaria |
IM WITH FANCYSN! that pv was bunk, sorry.
as much as you can say "it fits the song because its slow", hanabi 2 and moments were both complete slow songs and their pvs didnt bore me half to death. i'm not taking any symbols for granted, i just thought the pv was boring, lol. true it doesnt have to be expensive, true it doesnt have to be flashy. but cant she do something else than walk on a street? it doesnt cost any more money to sit down once in awhile, or change views, or show her climbing a tree or something, i dont know..maybe have a dog in her arms? |
oh, and also, as much symbolism as there is in it, most people wouldnt get it, or most people would fall asleep by the time they'd get it. the symbols not..bold enough, lol. as a side note, i dont like inspire much either.
|
I love the scene which ayu only walk... ^^ Its so simple but so i dunno i cant tell it
|
I respect everyone's opinions, and I can see why most of you would think it is boring, but I thought it was a work of art!!! I feel madly in love with the song the first time I saw the PV and I watched it for hours! The ending was the best part, the wind and her walking away it was all so touching and magical, it made my cry really bad because I felt her emotion, something that some of her PVs lack. I can get tired of most Ayu songs after listening to em too much, but this one would be the song I'd choose to listen to if I had to choose one song to listen to for the rest of my life.
|
I love this PV...It's a video that makes you watch Ayumi and focus on her instead of a bunch of other backgrounds/people/objects. Someone else said something about it making you want to look up the lyrics instead of just watching...It's boring to some, but I think it's brilliant! :yes

hahaha, that would be the whole pv. |
i thought the pv was actually great, kuz once you mess up you have to redo the whole thing
|
I'm sorry everyone for not liking the Daybreak PV... I mean, I really should be ashamed of myself for liking INSPIRE... I mean after all HALS MIX is like the bomb! and the PV is sooooooooooooooo interesting... I'm on the edge of my seat with excitement...
It seems to me like you people can't take criticism... and you can't take it when people like INSPIRE better than another song... Get ****ing over it. A bunch of ****ing yenta's... :irked I don't need to be lectured on the meaning of a PV... The fact that I don't like Daybreak because its boring is a perfectly fine ****ing reason. Why don't you like INSPIRE? Because its so "American"? I'm not interested in watching a PV that I have to pay hard attention to look for "symoblism"... Now if they used the Original Version of Daybreak, I'd like the PV more... |
People are taking these threads far too seriously. Its just a pv. No need ot kill ourselves over it.
|
I like the Daybreak PV, because of how simple and artistic it is. It's just Ayu showing us her emotions, with no other distractions or hidden meanings in the plot.
|

BACK ON TOPIC, HanabiChick started it right on the bat. :yes That's one of the reasons I love the PV.. Ayu's emotions really come through strongly. Sometimes all you need is heavy emotion and not a bunch of dancing. (Not that dancing is bad, but you get the point. ^^) |
i LOOOOOVE Daybreak PV!!!! it is the best, man!!
|
(Wow, I'm kinda worried for all the initiates! Don't flare up! It's just a PV! Afterall, we should stay united against Jolin Tsai! *ok, that was JUST A JOKE! Don't take it seriously! No Offence Intended!*)
Well, I love the Daybreak PV! It's very tranquil, greyish yet there's a lot of emotion in there! Initially I thought she was waiting for a hitch ride *bleh* haha, but then yar, her attire and everything, it's still very pretty. You know what I suggest you do? You should blast the music "rather" or "relatively" loud and then watch the PV! I did that on my dad's car on the way to school! Wow, and the experience is different! I found myself loving Daybreak *and the other PVs like INSPIRE!* more and more! Sometimes, you've just to make it louder to get it better and clearer into your head! :D |
I like to think of Daybreak pv as an independent arthouse movie as opposed to say, Real Me which can compared to a blockbuster - the majority will find Daybreak boring, cheap, unentertaining but it's actually a work of art while many find the latter more appealing...it's got dancing, a 'cool' setting and colourful, eye-grabbing costumes but lacks substance. (okay Real Me DOES have meaning but you get the idea~)
but anyway, it's not 'unjust' that people find Daybreak PV boring because afterall, music videos are for entertainment and if people look at this PV, they sure aren't gonna be entertained and rewatch it again and again and they'll start hating it etc. |
