[2004] To fade, or not to fade...?
How do you like your songs to end?
'Fading out' - The song gradually decreases in volume until silence, and the song is over... (Example: Ayu - SEASONS) Or: Uhmmm 'Not fading out' - The song just ends, with a drum hit, or whatever, you know what I mean... (Example: Ayu - INSPIRE) I prefer the 'Not fading out' because I think it gives more closure to the song, it really bugs when the 'fading out' technique is used to end a song and the artist is still singing... -_- For example, I would have liked 'Dearest' to keep going, I started to really like the 'Lalalala's' at the end... and then it started to fade out... -_-... It's not so bad when the singing has stopped though... I also think it would be easier for the artist with no fading because when its performed live they wouldn't have to like add an actual ending... I don't think I ever seen a fade-out live perf. x_x heh, weird topic, sorry if i'm not clear... So what do you think? |
Well..I like both but I prefer the song to just cut off I guess. ^^; Never thought on it too much though.
Doesn't matter as long as it's a natural ending. Songs should be faded out as needed or end with a drumhit or guitar, but the ones that annoy me are the ones like monochrome.
Never really thought about it, but I guess it doesn't matter to me. So I voted the third option. =P
And I agree with Hok Wai Blue: some songs just sound more natural with fade-outs than others. I actually like the ending to SEASONS with the fade-out :yes |
i dont like fades.....just keeps repeating and repeating.
I've not thought about it.. :shrug I guess I just like them to end/cut off and not fade out. Fading in is okay, but fading out is odd, especially since most of the time I have my iPod on shuffle and it sounds weird when they start fading in to the 'next' song and then another song totally different pops up. XD
I prefer the song to naturally fade out, that's also why I feel that the ending for "GAME" is just too abrupt, oh well...
I think about this all the time ^^; I usually dont like it when songs fade-out, but some sound better that way.
I like to suprise people.
So that's why I like 'No Fad Out'. :P I prefer the songs to end suddenly. You know, just like that. *snaps finger* |
i honestly think it depends on the song....
Depends on the song really and the overall feel. I like it both ways, but I do suppose it's nicer to go out with a bang than fade out.

It all depends on the err....song
No fade out. It's a lazy and unoriginal way to finish a song.
If a song has a fade out and the artist performs it live, usually they just change the ending. |
No fades here, either. It's too easy, it just means that you can't come up with a good ending.

if you got talent, you can even make an ending on the spot ;) XD (ok, most ppl will not understand this, ignore) |

not fading ^^
for some reason it like it fading out, maybe it's because it sounds better?
i prefer no fading out coz it looks like the producer was lacking in making an ending to the track, i'd rather see a cool endig to tracks but ok, sometimes there can't be a real ending and they simply hv to fade out lol
what difference does it make?
I'd rather some songs, like ballads, to have fade-out than with some fancy ending that doesn't suit the song. (eg. Moments, not only didn't it suit the song it even sounded like they recycled it from Heartplace)
ehhh... it depends on the song, but usually i like it not to have a fade out ending. sometimes it sounds like a song has a fade out because they couldn't think of an ending... and that's not cool :( |
really depends on the songs or instruments used i guess but if i choose i'd pick "no fade out"
it made much more of a song then a fade out one |
I actually do like them to fade out. It's a cool effect and so many awesome songs ends that way. Not fading can be very abrupt and have this disjointed feel for me.
not fade out for me, but i like fade out songs too
Whatever suits the song, i guess ballads should fade out so that it sounds better :)!
i prefer non-fadeout endings
where is the: I prefer both - option?
'No fade-out'
it sounds more complete than a fade out...i think fade outs are used when they dont know how to end a song |
