MY STORY shipment breaks 1 million copies!!!
 

ok....from SPONICHI news about ayu...
MY STORY is shipped in 1 million copies for the distributor for the 1st debut day...this is what ayu aims for the new album also with almost 400,000 downloads....(this shows how ayu's MY STORY is really awaited)
also...the booklets of MY STORY will shows ayu's typical life (HER STORY/HER LIFE) which she use less make up inside...and it said that we can choose the cover we want....(but I'm not really sure about this one)
the conclusion is ayu aims the highest album shipment and this album will reach millions copies :love :love :love

I will definately buying to help her reach this goal :)

I already preordered the limited edition and maybe I will later order overseas version of the normal edition :P (to have at leat two covers ;) )

I don't know how many copies of a new Ayumi album are usually shiped to distributors, so it's hard to tell if they're expecting a lot from it. There's been a lot less publicity for it than, for example, for A Best - but 1 million is an easy initial target for Ayumi.

Same kind of news as that of the Japanese release of Exodus (Hikki). It means the shipment to mostly retailers, not exactly the same as actual sales.

It's a show of confidence though for the protential sales for Ayu's album, from distributors and retailers.

That's interesting that the photos are of her daily life. It kind of reflects her first album, A Song for XX. That was sort of a-day-in-the-life-of-Hamasaki-Ayumi, while the other albums all had some sort of theme. Not suggesting a "final-album-evarrrr-omg-everybody-panic" deal, but it does seem to come full circle. Nothing wrong with twice around the ring, though. I can't wait to get my copy! I have a feeling I pre-ordered too late... **gulp**

from what i know boybands/solos is still very huge in japan...the latest Orange Range album
has bout 87,300,000(oricon) copies sold for the debut week..
don't think ayu's album sever got that much sold on the first week sale?
i might be wrong but by the looks of it...
Orange Range will be another Smap single deal happened last year
Sekai ni uchu something which is the most sold single ever released from them...
*O.R even beat Hirai Ken/Mr.Children/Utada Exodus's first week album sales

thejadedangel: It's the latter - and I'm not kidding. Hirai Ken also did very well when he debuted last week, selling over 670,000 copies.

Still, no one can beat Hikki's 1.4 million. Sorry for saying this here but I think Ayu, while definitely being able to surpass the 1 million mark her first week, can't reach the 1.4 million that Hikki pulled for her single collection. Maybe I'll have to take that back two weeks from now, when Oricon releases its weekly rankings, but for now that's what I feel.

Whoa, Orange Range totally surpassed my expectations. I would've thought 500,000 at the most...dang this beats their indie days.

MA sold 550k its first week, which I think is pretty amazing for a mini-album.

RAINBOW, Ayu's most disliked full-featured album it seems, sold 650k its first week.

I'd expect MY STORY to sell more than MA...hitting 600-700k copies its first week.

Then again the Japanese Music Industry is changing. Weak single sells may correlate with higher album sales now since consumers may prefer to have it all in one CD (like the US Industry, singles sales are really low but album sales are extremely high). Ayu had a weak singles sales this year, maybe people are tired of buying singles from her (since she has SOOO many) and are just anticipating for the album (hence the strong sales of MA, even though 5 of the songs were already released).

-Edit MA shipment broke 1 million copies sometime in Jan. (about a month after its release) And here MY STORY already broke 1 million in shipment a week before its release date. :yes I think Avex has a lot of preorders :cool

poor ayu....I think this album will hit a lot in da 1st week...coz people who downloaded the songs for ringtones reach over 400,000!!!!!! and the 1st shipment is 1,000,000....I think the 1st week it'll sold over 900,000-let's hope it'll SOLD OUT 1,000,000 copies
