My story Vs Exodus
 

i just wondering if it's true that my story's first week sales really beat Utada hikaru's exodus first week sales ?

That is because EXODUS is a english Album ... And Hikki didn't make much Promo for this Album ... No Single was released and so on ...

But MY STORY and EXODUS are really really great ... :-)

Mhmm.. yeah. But I believe My Story has better quality music than Exodus, in my opinion. But that's just what I think ^^;

Yeah, I prefer MY STORY anyway...Exodus is good, yes, but the only thing that stood out on that for me was Kremlin Dusk. With MY STORY, a lot more songs stand out and I love 'em all. :yes

Indeed. Kremlin Dusk was really really good.. but the rest didn't really stand out =/

I don't think this thread was about us liking or disliking either two.

We were just mentioning why we think or believe Exodus' sales weren't so high.

I guess Hikki's album didn't sale too good because well, nobody really knows her in American, Canada and so. Of course, those that know her as a Japanese artist will most likely to buy her album but she had never released a PV or anything well. Neither did she promote. Personally, i think her english singing is quite, well. Weird.

I'm sure - but that's my point. And I don't think that a number of people saying 'I like it!' or 'I hate it!' actually clears up things. I, for one, love Exodus - brilliant album. The main reason for its disappointing sales was the lack of promotion, which has been discussed to death.

^^ I haven't heard the whole album yet. I heard a few songs but i don't really enjoy her type of music. It's too r&b-ish for me.

If she released a Japanese album it probably would have outsold 'MY STORY' by alot, unfortunately...

Yeah. Hikki's got this strange hold on Japan that makes her sales go nuts...

j/k, I love Hikki, but I do think her sales are a little too insane sometimes. Don't even get me started on her Single Collection.

But even as an English album, it smashed all the other English-language release records...

It isn't big surprise for me. Is many reasons that EXODUS sale could be worse of MY STORY. EXODUS is boring and for me this is the worse album of Hikki but I know this is only one of many other reasons... Besides not all think that~

Exodus really isn't the usual stuff you would expect from Utada Hikaru, even my friend who is hikki's hardcore fan would hesitate to say he love that album. IMO, My Story is less "stray away" compare Utada's Exodus, which many people might find it hard to digest.

i like both. ^__^ a lot! they are uncomparable, because i don't speak japanese and i speak english and i enjoy music i can understand more, maybe.

^ no it's not. It's experimental tis all...I remember Hikki herself saying that she didn't expect people to love the album because she knows it's not the typical mainstream stuff she's been doing all her career.

i have to agree that my story has better quality music in my opinion. because i got this cd player for christmas with really good sound and bass, and when u listen to it there are jo so many sounds in there, its just fantastic, especially the start of About You mmmmm bass.... :D

You might want to consider listening to Exodus again then, there's nothing wrong with the sound.

I got that when i first listen to the song but overtime i can see that she says "Exooodus"

the sound with exodus is excellent, she used very different sounds in this cd... it's one of my fav things of the album...

There are those hardcore "fans" who like to stuck their idols in one mold.. off with them..

anyway, MY STORY didn't beat EXODUS that much. I need both them , can't choose one over the other. I meant they're still so different anyway, just nicely filling my different needs from the two of them.

Kremlin dusk is ok, but there is others that I prefered better. the fav is still Devil Inside, following by wonder 'bout(yes even the background beat) hell I feel like put it on right now. Other tracks are nice too. I like a person who isn't afraid to do her own things and not be afraid to take the fall for it, like Hikki. But I do understand that that many ex-fans and critics like to bash this 82 score (on the scale of 100) but I just happen to be one of those that actually like it not just because I am a fan.

Exodus is a good album....her voice is sounds very beautiful....but UTADA lost all the japanese of her music...

and about who is better...come on!....ayumi's music allways is better in all sence....
not becouse i'm a ayumi's fans...is someting that anyone can see.... the videos, the music...the singles....the style,,,the look... ayumi is superiour to all the other japanese artist. in all the countryies around the world so many peoples knows who is hamasaki ayumi.... and just for her work in japan.

What was so "Japanese" about the older songs anyway? The language in which it was sang?

And I already make my point clear, I don't need to choose, although on my own personal ranking Ayu is slightly edged over Hikki too.

For 1st week:

EXODUS has sold about 524,000.
MY STORY has sold about 574,000.

But such sales comparision is always pointless to me.

i bought exodus but have yet to listen to the whole album...

exodus kicks my story's behind big time.

It's quite obvious why: how can I rate an album as good if half of the songs are crappy? Exodus however contains many quality songs...

I'm totally behind My Story now, cause I found out, Exodus, is a riaa album. Please forgive me for supporting riaa products *shame*. It's just morally not right to support something like riaa

I think EXODUS still okay. But the problem is i could'nt figure out the lyrics that i thought no connection from one to other...

There is a story theme there, just that the styles varies too much for most people to stick to it.

And Chrono, that's a reason that I will never go by.

What i meant is that... The way that she expressed the story theme is not that good or the words she chosen not really connected. When she sang the song to the chorus, i really don't feel the connection. Honestly speaking, i only like her song when she sang the chorus, that's all... :yes

Well My Story had a lot of promo ...and Exodus didn't...just on Hikki's website

I don't like Exodus for reasons that we have already extablished in this thread, but I dissagree with those who claim that My Story has " a better quality of music ". I doubt anyone who said that can back it up with any technical music theory. they just like the way it sounds better. The sytles are completly different.

I personaly dont like either of the albums at all. Ayu doesn't compose most of her own music but the people who do compose most of her music change every other album or so. There are always a few by HAL or whatever, but most of "My Story"'s music is composed by tetsuya yukumi, I loved his stuff on Memmorial address, but his style has changed and I dont like it at all. I don't like the bounceback songs either, and for that matter, I dont like the ones Ayu did herself on this ablum too. so that leaves like 3 songs.......

i think is logic if exodus didn't sales good.me my self dont like utada since she release that album..and ayu still focus at her japan carier and its a right decision..
i think utada is really hard to gain her popularity again

I didn't think exodus was that bad but i like my story better...

prefered mystory... but love exodus as well

My Story by far. Exodus '04 and Kremlin Dusk are the only ones that stood out on Utada's album, and even still those didn't match the quality of her previous albums.

It´s has more better songs then exodus,thoug I like both of the albums but I think my story takes the first place.

I like My Story! No offense against utada supporters!

Even though you don't like Exodus, I've have thank you for giving a logical reason why you dislike it, not just some generic Utada bashing gimicks. Kudos.
