'walking proud' a Kinki rip-off?
 

I was pointed out by a friend that the chorus of Ayu's 'walking proud' sounds a lot like the chorus of this song by Kinki Kids. It's very interesting how similar the vocal melody is, and in my opinion it is very similar...

Looks like Ayu needs to find some other composers/arrangers, she's looking like a copy-cat lately.

Hmm maybe it was intentional...the final product sounds nice so I don't really mind :P:P:P It actually sounds better than the chorus of the Kinki song so I guess it improved ;) Maybe she could find some new composers but hey what if she ends up picking the recent DAI's composer who makes interesting verses but some of the most horrible chorus I've ever listened to (talking about their latest release Need Your Love)? That would be even worse, so I don't really think we need to complain in that part.

Just like how everyone said ayu's ver is better. At least it is not like how Goto maki made her song (Afurechau be in love) sound similar to one of Jessica simpson's song (I forgot the song title for Jesssica).

it's just the chorus(not very similar about 60% notes), not the whole song , if it's the whole song, then is called rip-off,but it's NOT, actually, it doesen't really matter, many songs' some part is simaliar to other songs

Exactly :yes Plus ayu has a good relationship with Kinki Kids or so it seems (they all sang SEASONS together once).

Ya i find Kinki and Ayu very similar... i like the Kinki song, but Walking Proud is sooo much bettter....

I have a suggestion for someone who can easily read kanji-! Find out thier composers and labels!!! Because I don't think Ayumi makes the background music, she only writes the lyrics!

WOW! That is more than a little similar... perhaps though they are good friends... Ayu may have put this in there for them, as a gift... or as a tribute... especially since it wasn't credited in the credits... There's NO way that the Kinki Kid's people could have let this slip if it wasn't for a reason... Gifts usually aren't credited :)

I mean, this chorus was on the commercial, Ayu would NOT have let the part that was so similar be on TV everyday for them to hear it for sure if she copied :P

DONT FORGET she did not compose it.. Blame the composer, hehe.. Besides, I doubt Ayu listens to Kinki or whatever, she has her own interests and she would not want to support a rival.. Unless its Hikki? And even if she DID copy, at least her version sounds a lot nicer!

why would AYU want to copy other people in the first place? she doesnt need to. if anything people copy her.

I think Walking Proud is also a rip off of Morning Musume's song "Furusato." Not the chorus or anything, but the opening music. The last minute or so of "Furusato," is the girls "oooh"-ing to the exact same melody!

It's forgivable because there are so many songs on the planet that some are bound to sound alike. It's not really a blame game, so nobody needs to be offended that people are bringing this up. And even if the copying was intentional, Ayu didn't write the music to this song, did she? Haha
Even if she did, she's only human and humans make mistakes!

*sigh* I wish Ayu would compose songs again. :(
