Anybody listen to a newcomer from last year called Yunna? (Which is actually Korean, I just found out several days ago). She's a pianist, and a B-side "Omoide ni Dekinai" on her new single is quite nice. (The A-side "Houki Boshi" is very good and catchy too, very J-pop sounding)

Hey that girl is quite good! I just listened to the samples on Yahoo! Japan, and her voice reminds me a little of Kou Shibasaki's; I like "yubikiri" and "omoidenidekinai". I'll be interested when she has a new album out. Thanks, ~K+!

The ratings on Yahoo! Japan hardly represent the actual quality of songs most of the time. Some individual Japanese people also use a program that allows them to vote multiple times all at once. Hence you see those like Ayu who have a lot of antis with a one star which is the lowest for every single release. They're not as harsh towards ELT although "jump" and "FUNDAMENTAL LOVE" had been the targets for attack. =X

I just when and previewed 'Yubikiri' myself, and it's nice, looking forward to when she releases an album myself too.

Lol, like yesasia reviews I guess, except it's 5 stars for everything there. XD

I'm a bit confused here, isn't her name spelled 'Younha' as in the official web site address: http://www.younha.net/ ? Or is that just the way the Koreans spell it? Oh well, what's more important is the music, i was watching a recent Melodix! episode (looking forward to Ami Suzuki's perf.) but it was this newcomer who caught my attention. Must've been that rock guitar + piano = killer combo! :D

I have her Houki Boshi pv on repeat now, i'll upload that and a live version soon. :)

I downloaded the Houki Boshi PV posted by Cascade. She looks rather tomboyish haaha but she also seems full of energy. Her voice is pretty good and hey the song is not just some regular JPOP song, it sounded pretty good. The PV was fun to watch.

Houki Boshi is good. I remembered seeing the thread title so I watched the live at bestyz. I like it a lot, but I'll wait for an album.

Yeah I've seen the PV and heard the song. She's so friggin adorable in that video!! I love the summery/almost springy feeling of the video, it makes me feel so happy and carefree. The song is good but not as good as 'Houki Boushi' but that'll be hard for her to top because 'Houki Boushi' is probably one of my favorite songs from this year right next to Ayu's 'STEP you'. But yeah I can't wait for her first album!!! I'll be getting that for sure... I would have gotten her singles but I'm trying to cut back on buying singles since I usually never listen to them after I get the album.

Just another note... I LOVE THE SINGLE'S COVER! IT'S SO CUTE!!!

Ooooh. Anybody saw the PV for 'TOUCH'? She's so damn funky in it, it's so much fun. I love her body langauge in it, not exactly the type of song I'm usually into, but I think her strong voice makes it work.

Nope, I did download it though.. I'll probably get to it tonight though. Younha has been making awesome music and I am definitely getting her debut album. "Houki Boushi" is still one of the best releases of this year in my opinion.

I'd have to agree, Houki Boshi has the highest play-count on my list of Japanese songs released this year.

It is really beyond addicting... along with Ayu's "STEP you". I am really satisfied with this years releases so far and Younha is definitely one of the best debut artist this year. Along with YUI and K. I am glad to see there are a lot of GOOD Korean artist coming into Japan and not trying to redo BoA-esque music. I'm not hating on BoA but her music has become overdone.

I was going to start my own Younha thread, but there is no need to now since we will just use this thread to discuss about her and her music.

Anyways, looks like Younha has some new music release lately, so maybe I will post about it later on, or if someone wants to post about it, go ahead, lol.

I first found out about her from the song she did for Bleach - I'll just call the song HB, cus I dunno the correct spelling of the name, and I'll use the initials instead, lol.

I also like "My Lover", and also "Touch". I think Touch had an anime tie-in too, or maybe not, lol.

Haven't really listened to her music since her album "Go Younha", so anyways, I am looking forward to that new song that she is recording.

I like her JPNese songs more than her Korean songs though, lol.

So I read her wikipedia page today to catch up on what she had been doing Post-Go Younha in terms of japanese releases, and looks like she released a BEST album as her 2nd japanese album release. It flopped though, unfortunately. :/

Gosh, I love Younha. Her voice is so wonderful! I only listen to her Korean songs though. I don't know, she sounds better in Korean. Kinda like BoA. She sounds better in her mother language too. And also, a lot of her Japanese songs are covers of her Korean songs. Might as well listen to the Korean songs instead.

Anyway, I hope the new album is as good as "Vol.3 - Someday". :heart

Seems like centuries have passed since I last heard anything of her.
Can't help but be doubtful about her coming back to japan. She said something like that awhile ago with "Sratch On The Heart" but nothing came out of it really. Wouldn't be surprsed if her Sony contract is already up.

I liked Ima ga Daisuki single but pretty much liked only A-sides afterwards.

Anyway, I don't know if I like the preview. The "1 2 3, 4 5 6" is a bit too childish compared to her Korean songs. I prefer her pop/rock style from "Someday".

I watched the "touch" pv just now, cus I don't think I remember what it looked like, after not seeing it for so many years, and wow, it's quite a good pv.

Oh, I've never really watched any of her PVs. Just listening to her music and checking out some photos. But I don't follow her Japanese music. Maybe that's why... To me she was always kinda laid-back, down-to-earth, mature... Then bewteen Vol1.5 and 2 she became more rockish.

Anyway! What are your favorite songs from her? I think my ultimate favorite is "Gidarida". I don't know if she did a cover in Japanese... But it's so beautiful. It's a song from her first single!

Only Korean song of hers I can say I love is Delete. God, the emotion she pours into that song :smitten

I really like the theme of the photobook: She starts her day off by getting dressed, brushing her teeth, eating breakfast, then reads a book, waters her cute mini cactus plant. Looks in the mirror to check herself out (lol), and then eats a snack with strawberries and cherries. :love

She looks so adorable! The netizens are saying that some of her new songs sound like other songs. 123 sounds like Jackson's 5 ABC. I thought that one was intentional though. Like a sample or tribute. The other one is Luv U Luv U Luv U and it sounds like Lady GaGa's Just Dance. That one I hear but it is a little bit different.

Apparently, the rapper in the Japanese version of "Gieok" sounds a lot like Tablo!

Personally, I don't really enjoy Vol.3 as much as her previous album. It's okay, but not her greatest works. "1, 2, 3" is horrible. XD Apparently, it's a cover of a Jackson 5 song.
