Can anyone reccomend any French/Russian Singers?

Oooor maybe just songs in French/Russian you think are just really awsome.....I feel I learn accents quickly I i learn how to sing in a language...and...I just love the Russian language anyway..it's so beautiful...

lotusoka 20th August 2005 02:12 AM

Two awesome russian singers that I learned about through my Russian class:

Anastacia stotskaya - favorite song is "veny reki"

Dimiti Patrov - favorite song "Tai"

if you want, I can send these to you. :D

stardusties 20th August 2005 05:08 PM

wow!! :) ookay! :D That sounds great

hana_sanctuary 20th August 2005 06:57 PM

I was gonna post a similar question but just about French singers. I'm about to start taking French in college and music usually helps me with whatever I'm doing ((i.e., Japanese XD ))

TNeilson 20th August 2005 07:56 PM

well i'm learning French, and i found some great albums in my French Tranning Center...
heres the list of the albums i'm listening lately.

Calogero - Calo3ero

Janatan Cerrada - La Preuve Du Contraire

KYO - Le Chemin (recommend! they're awesome!)/ 300 Lésions

Laurent Voulzy - Avril (the album was okay. but i love the track "Je Suis Venu Pour Elle")

nichya is a pretty good russian group. their official website is www.nichya.ru and it has an english version. vitas is also a good russian singer. his website is www.vitas.com.ru and it also has an english version ^^

JimmyKoria 20th August 2005 09:26 PM

Zemfira is good, someone on tatysite.net got me hooked on her =x

m-a-z-e 20th August 2005 10:30 PM

I definately reccomend Nichya, 'Navsegda' is a fantastic song. You can get the music video at their official site. I also reccomend the english version song 'The Pain That You Choose' although I can't remember it's russian title.

Virus are also a good Russian group, very Techno though, so I guess to like it you'll have to appreciate Techno. lol.

Dusha has a nice voice, and her songs are pretty cool so look out for her aswell.

Finally, back on the Techno, Angelika is another good artist!

stardusties 21st August 2005 12:11 AM

i'm looking into all this now :D thanks guys! :) anymore would be really awsome as well!

I was heavy into Russian music for awhile, before I discovered j-pop. Some of my favorites were~ Akula, Katya Nechaeva, Malina, Maxi-M, Nichya, Propaganda, Ruki Vverkh, Russkiy Razmer, Smash!!, Yulia Nachalova and Yulia Savicheva.

The Russian version was called 'Nichya,' too, like the band. =b And the english version was 'Pain To Choose.' That song is all about the sexy moaning. o_o

stardusties 22nd August 2005 03:07 AM

haha cool :)! Thanks ^_^ -listens-

Veny-Reki sounds like a powerful song ...she has so much feeling behind it :) it's cool

lotusoka 22nd August 2005 07:31 AM

Veny-Reki is a much more powerful song than Tai, but I love Dimitri's voice, lol.

Have you heard "200 po vstrechnoy?" It is tatu's debut album

Delirium-Zer0 22nd August 2005 09:09 AM

I much prefer "200 po vstrechnoy" to "200 km/h in the wrong lane". The songs that didn't get translated into english are ironically my favorites o_o

I only know 2 french singers and I love both. Helene Segara and De Palmas. Helene has a GORGEOUS voice, but I can't tell you more than that cuz I've only heard one song by her, "Elle, Tu L'aimes" (It's Her You Love). De Palmas has some great songs like "Tomber" (Falling) and "Tu Finiras Toute Seule" (You'll End Up All Alone). His song "Si Tu Veux" (If You Want) has some pretty crazy lyrics, lol ^^

She's not a french singer, but she has one song in french and her french is good... Violinist Vanessa Mae has a song called "Embrasse Moi" (Embrace Me) on her "Storm" album that she sings. Really sexy sweet lyrics to that one, just a great song overall.

Yeah, it was the same for me. I also feel as though the Russian versions of songs that were translated are a lot more emotional, they are full of power. The song "Zachem Ya (why do i?)" is much more powerful when sung in russian than when it was sung as "Stars" in English. Also "Ya Troy Vrag" is an amazing song, makes me somewhat sad they didn't attempt to sing it in english. :eviltongu

sora-kara 23rd August 2005 09:03 PM

Zemfira is a Russian singer. And she's awesome! ^_^

Same with Origa. She sings in Russian and Japanese.

If you'd like me to upload some stuff for you I can do that. :)

Great choice :) I was really into Kyo some years ago, I love their lyrics and the deep meaning of their songs. (I'm a native French speaker btw) I like their 1st album "Le chemin" better than "300 lésions". Now I'm just listening to them occasionally, J-Pop took me away from them and American music :P

I'll up some Zemfira stuff later (gotta find the cd first ;) )

LeButler 24th August 2005 10:30 PM

In French music, pretty much any work/artist touched by Jean-Jaques Goldman is quality stuff. What's your taste in music, then I can suggest suitable artists.

My favourites are Mylene Farmer (mainstream: profound lyrics and stunning music videos), Robert (vocalist: flute-like, a nearly unknown artist) and Zazie (more pop-rock).

sora-kara 24th August 2005 10:33 PM

Here are 18 Zemfira tracks for your enjoyment. ^_^

Zero

Paranoya

Do Svidanjia

Iskala

London

Pochemu?

Prosti Menya Moya Lubov

Sneg

Spid

Medley with Rammstein's Du Hast

Dokazano

Gorod

Hochesh

Ne Otpuskai

Nenavizhu

Rassvety

Sigarety

Rumba

Enjoy!

(I just realised that the file name for Do Svidanjia is spelled So Dvidanjia. Oopsie. My Mistake.)

many ppl told me 'Le Chemin' was much more better than '300 lésions'... i never heard 'Le Chemin' before, well i try to get that album... but its too expensive here. 'Le Chemin' was like 45 dollars or more..can't really remember it ('300 lésions' cost only 24 dollars.) but i still enjoyed '300 lésions'.

btw, i thought 'Le Chemin' was their 2nd album... right?

I don't consider them as great singers. Especially Yulia's vocals can get really annoying. But they do have some nice songs, for example Stars is an AWESOME song. It's sung in English and Russian. It's very sad song with English chorus and Russian... rap? For some reason I like the Russian versions of t.A.T.u's songs. Oh, oh and there's an album they did with Rammstein (weird, but yeah ^^;;) called Pruzhinki I think. It has some awesome songs too.

Happii 27th August 2005 12:18 AM

Axelle Red - Je me Fache
http://s46.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2...41A2MQOIAEO7JO
I fell in love with this song instantly. She's indeed very angry. It has many electronic sounds but they're just arranged in a unique beautiful way. And you can hear violins from back. It has great music video too. Too bad I don't have it.

Indochine - Le Grand Secret
http://s46.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2...40GJANRSO1TD71
This is a slow but very beautiful song. I don't know how to describe it. It has a mysterious but soothing melody but it's still a rock song. Highly recommended.

Gregory Lemarchal - Ecris L'histoire
http://s46.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1...81B3TJGHVIS3MM
This is the closest thing to a pop/rock song out of these three. It has a haunting melody. The MV of this song could have been much better but I can't criticise it much because you get to see a lot of Gregory <333 He's so damn good looking :luv2 He sorta has an Asian look, don't you think?

That's all from me guys. Thank you all for posting these wonderful mp3s. A question for people who listen other countries music, how did you found out about these artists? I found out about these from watching MCM. If you know a site or a forum(preferebly in English) that has world music, please give me the link.

LEOyumi 29th August 2005 03:12 PM

I reccomend Coralie Clément, I don't know much about her but she sings in French. Her songs are great, lots of Bossa Nova!
There's Alizée too, she's simply pop and has a very famous song called "Moi Lolita" and I love it lol she's nice too ^^

Mad_Cactuar 29th August 2005 04:20 PM

what else? TATU of course ^.^

extepan 29th August 2005 04:27 PM

I definitely recommend the French Mylene Farmer. I love the song 'L'amour naissant'. Her music is very mystic!

Yep, the 1st was released on an indie label isn't it? I consider Le Chemin as their 1st album since it's on a major label though it is their 2nd. Oh and Mylène Farmer is great, I consider her as the French Ayu, since she has a unique style and very deep lyrics.

Yes :D Her lives are very very spectacular, she have a lot of remixes and she have her very particular univer! The lyrics are so beautifull and so sad :( And the music is always original and very mystic!!!! I love Mylène :love loooooooool (it's my avatar ^^)

Annabelle 29th August 2005 11:11 PM

Yeah I was going to say that it's obvious that you're a Mylène fan since she's in your ava :) She dosen't release often... unlike Ayu :D I liked her single "F*uck them all", it aired quite a lot on the radio here.

yamagatacamille 9th September 2005 09:26 AM

for french artist, definitely look into Keren Ann. she now has English-sung songs, but her first 2 albums (of 4) are completely in French; and her recent album, Nolita, is in half French and half English -- to get yer 2-fer!
