A Song for XX
A long time ago I downloaded A Song for XX, and the first 30 seconds of the download is like Ayu practicing with her band or something...and then the song starts....does anyone know where this is from...i downloaded the song off of bearshare...
it starts of with the guitars practicing and the drums, and i guess Ayu is warming up her vocals or something...and then they stop and someone goes "you suck" and she says "shhhhhh" or something and he says it again....and then the drum sticks beat together and the song starts...is this on every version of the original mix? |
LOL, really? No, that's not on the original mix, but could you perhaps be referring to A Song for XX "030213 Session take #2", which was on the A BALLADS CD? That version has a different composition than the original, and it has some voices in the beginning.
EDIT: Okay, now I'm positive that it's the song you're asking about. |
thats the song!!! omg for so long i thought that was the original version...its so much more rock sounding...and i just downloaded the real original version and its really different!!! i can't believe it...thanx for the info

well, I didnt understand their mumblings.. Ayumi cant really understand or speak English right? I doubt it too.. Girlish also had some pretty pony~pretty pony~pretty pony~ talk and a funny sneeze..
|
really?? 'you suck' in asfxx and sneeze in girlish?? have to check now!!
|
i know for girlish.. but can upload for a song for xx? i think that i do not have this edition that you have mentioned
|
Here it is.
http://s35.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3...E3KS0BDIB825PB but I love the original one much better than this version. |
This version seemed to lack some emotion...
|
I like the original version better. It's full of sadness and loneliness while the version on A BALLADS is full of anger.. Just my opinion :)
|
I think the sneeze in girlish was faked as an homage/reference to "aikawarazuna bokura" by b'z which has the same studio live/sing-along feel & some similar lyrics, and a sneeze at the end of it ^^... which would explain why ayu giggled at him ^^ I can upload the song if anyone wants to hear it, it's cute.
And Ayu said that the new version of A Song for XX is just an evolution of the song that naturally occurred through all the concerts in which it was performed. So it's not lacking emotion but the emotions behind it are definitely different (as is that one lyric change, from "sonna fuu ni mawari ga..." to "sonna fuu ni anata ga...", which has been in effect since concert tour 2000 at least). The new feelings aren't really there for us to LIKE, they're only there for her to convey. And i like both; i like hearing the change in her feelings from that loneliness & sadness you mentioned to anger. And i think you'll like the version better that feels more like how you feel. If the song applies to you in an angry way, then you might relate to the newer version better. Likewise, if the lyrics of the song hit you in a more sad way, you'll probably like the original (or the MILLENNIUM MIX which i feel has more depth in its sound) better. I'm glad that she re-recorded it if she has such different feelings towards the song lately. Plus, there's a bit of violin in the original that's too much like a short string part in "Been Around The World" by Lisa Stansfield, and it bugs me. I'm not saying she ripped the song off at all (or that Yasuhiko Hoshino did anyway), I'm just saying it bugs. |
I know this is pretty much of topic but I've always wondered are the X's in "A Song For XX" silent? I say the x's but I'm not sure it's right b/c on the cm the announcer didn't say the x's but I heard someone on a performance say the x's so I'm really confused. Help!!!
|
I think they're silent, because it's the voice of ayu herself in the CMs saying "A Song for".
|
Okay thank you, I was really confused and I didn't know how to pronounce it.
|
Wow, I had never noticed that lyric change in the A BALLADS version, thanks for pointing that out Delirium-Zer0
|
Ah thanks for the info Delirium-Zer0
That explains a lot |
the XX's stands for [someone] like A Song for [fill in the blanks] ^____^ get it?
|
i guess its a matter of opinion when it comes to liking different type of songs and their rendition of it. :)
|
does the lyric change?
|
Yes. The lyrics changed on one of the lines.
And just for clarification. They don't say "you suck". THey said. "Yosh" (ready). THen "one two" and starts. |
^^really? it sounds like the first one says "you suck" but yours is more reasonable :yes...where is the lyric change? i can't find it in the lyrics at Divine Ayu, not the file, but i tried compareing their lyrics to the new A Song for XX and i couldnt find where they changed it...
|
Yes, the song you dled first was A Song for XX "030213 Session #2". Though I'm a fan of all the mixes, 030213 is my favorite. She just has so much more emotion in that particular version, IMO.
|
I was positive that the song in the beginning starts like:
Ayu practicing in the background Voice: You suck Ayu: Yoshhh Voice: Suck "One two" But it sounded like the voice was kidding though. Like he said "suck" in like a joking way. But I dunno. Maybe I'm hearing it wrong? :p |

Memorial Address has talking in the beginning too, they say something in Japanese...where do they record these songs with the dialogue in the beginning? is it staged?
when i first heard this version of A Song for XX, i thought they were rehearsing for a live or something ^^^spacelion...thats what i thought they said too! |
It's a "studio live"... not an uncommon practice in jpop. They do it in a studio, but it's all done in one room, together, and we get one whole complete take on the CD. (in ayu's case, both A Song for XX and Memorial address were the second take.) The band gets all together, playing their stuff together. In a regular studio track, the instruments (mostly synthesized, very few are real instruments) are all done, mixed & produced first, then ayu sings over them and everything is mixed together at the end.
And here's a lyric comparison... ayu started singing this way at Concert Tour 2000 Act 2, and that was improvised. It's ONE word changed, so alot of people don't notice it, and they don't mark it anywhere either. The A BALLADS booklet, however, does show the change. Here's the original: http://ayu.sevendust.co.uk/asfxxbooklet.jpg itsumo tsuyoi ko da ne tte iwaretsuzuketeta nakanai de erai ne tte homeraretari shite ita yo sonna fuu ni mawari ga ieba iu hodo ni warau koto sae kutsuu ni natteta (continues to "hitori kiri de umarete, hitori kiri de ikiteyuku...") And here's the A BALLADS and Live version (as shown in the A BALLADS booklet): http://ayu.sevendust.co.uk/aballadsbooklet.jpg itsumo tsuyoi ko da ne tte iwaretsuzuketeta nakanai de erai ne tte homeraretari shite ita yo sonna fuu ni anata ga ieba iu hodo ni warau koto sae kutsuu ni natteta The line therefore changes from "The more everyone said these things, the more it hurt even to laugh" to "The more you said these things, the more it hurt even to laugh". EDIT: I'll upload the B'z song when i find somewhere to put it... all those YSI type places hate me for whatever reason so i dunno, maybe i'll do an old-fashiond Yahoo Briefcase upload XD |
