What the $&#@. I know it's not the end of the world, lol. But it has been since forever that she hasn't debuted at number 1 and this is a great single that deserves to do so. Hopefully this was just some kind of temporary insanity on the part of the Japanese public and she will get #1 for the week and keep her streak of #1s.

Maybe the fact that she released the single only a month after "fairyland" has something to do with it.

And I do think it being released so close after fairyland had something to do with it. I think a lot fewer people pre-ordered it, because they just weren't thinking about a new Ayu single already. This is the first one this year I didn't preorder - I was waiting until it appeared in the stores first.

Oh crap she broke her row of number 1 debuts. >___< It was a great single. It wasn't bad or anything. D: It probably be the low amount of hype for it I guess. Too close to fairyland. >_<

I was so shocked when I saw this. Of all the siongles to break her number 1 streak, this will not be it!!! What's with that enka single anyway? is it that popular to beat the mad rush of ayu fans at the first day of the release of the single? I'm still stumped. Go for #1 for the week ayu. The date is one day earlier than the release date because it's based on pre-orders and is basically an estimate of the first-day figure. Therefore whoever the No. 1 people are, they are almost definitely going to still be No. 1 tomorrow. After that, as a breakout hit, there are two (extreme) scenarios that could happen with this No. 1 single: sales could fall very sharply after the first day, or, it could hold very well over the first week, therefore keeping the No. 1 all the way. Let us hope that this band's single turns out to be a huge hit, however, because if it's not it means that Ayu must have sold very poorly to only be No. 2.

Oh my god, can't believe such a perfect singles cant get get position 1#. All we have to do is cool down and pray that HEAVEN will be number 1 by this week!!

It's a long time since Ayu's single didn't reach #1, the last one was Daybreak, wasn't it? I hope this one reaches in the weekly chart, if not in this week, in the other one.

As same people has stated the charts are for <b>13</b>th september... probably not all shops were selling HEAVEN yet because the official release is on <b>14</b>th... i'm sure she'll be #1 tomorrow and #1 of the week!! (or so i hope... xD)

yes, i heard of that before. They usually get No. 1 on the first day, but lose it immediately. Coz oricon still has to show the sales number every week, which cannot be fraud. So i guess ayu can surely get to #1 for tmr and this week

I'm completely shocked! Don't tell me Ayu's no.1 streak will end with HEAVEN because it can't! This is the only single that i bought --- not to mention the japanese version.

Well, it's 14th September in Asia already ... (I mean it's 14th September now in America and 15th September in Asia) so the sales are very much as such but don't worry! I'm sure they'll go back up again. Afterall, the consumption of singles in Japan is so rapid it's very much possible that the ranking goes back up again.

Yup, weekly sales count so don't freak out! I'm very surprised too but I think it's more of the time when the sales come in. Even as the number of sales come in, people are still getting the single so yup, it'll definitely be higher!

[edit]I've checked the Oricon Website ... yup, the sale results came in on 13th September, which basically means they aren't too reliable and accurate to gauge the sales results as of the moment. Technically, this means that the single "has not" debutted yet. Check the rankings again tomorrow. I'm sure HEAVEN would have moved up by then.

DON'T FREAK OUT PEOPLE! She may actually be #2 but most chances are she's #1. When the date actually changes to Sept. 14 the rankings will be different. I've seen this before, like I believe Gackt was underneath the ranking of Morning Musume in the dailies a day ahead of the actually release date and on the actually release date Gackt actually had more sales than Morning Musume for the actually release day. So don't worry peeps she might still be #1 but if not than still be happy that after so many years she still puts our music THIS GOOD.

currently the #1 spot is taken by a jpop boyband "Kanjani 8" from Johnny's Entertainment, the biggest boyband making machine in japan. does SMAP n Kinki Kids ring a bell to ne1? Johnny's Entertainment created those bands too. Kinki Kids has released 21 singles n all 21 singles have gone #1. as for Kanjani 8, im not too worried about their #1 spot, it will definietly fall over the week. why u may ask. well the reason is cos crazy fangirls will obviously support there idol on the very 1st day of release, every crazy fan (especially fans of bands) will buy there single/album on the 1st few days of release. for example: when the boyband w-inds. released there single a couple of weeks ago, there 1st day ranking was #2. when friday came, there single started to fall, down the charts until on monday they were at #9. im am almost certain ayu will b bak up to #1 latest by the weekend. besides, ayu has a much larger fan base than kanjani 8->they're 1 of the least popular groups out of Johnny's.

note: in june there was a rumour in hk newspaper (it was translated from japanese) that Johnny's Entertainment had "special ties" with ORICON n that ORICON would always "favour" Johnny's groups in getting the #1 spot (1 of the reasons y Kinki Kids has gotten #1 singles on all their singles since their debut) this could b proven true if Kanjani 8 does get the #1 spot overall....i would think that would create A LOT of controversy, i mean ayu's single getting beaten by a boyband single??

Well, HEAVEN has received so much positive feedback on here that we can safely say it's a great song and will do well. But we can't expect her to be #1 all the time, every time. And she's #2, which is basically number 1. She would have been number one if it hadn't been for that other group's release at the same time. It doesn't make her worse or going down in fame, the release date was just not so good. And I'm sure HEAVEN will reach #1 by the end of the week, especially with people going to see the movie SHINOBI. By the way, when does that movie start? Maybe sales will pick up even more after that!

Kanji 8 is a very ancient boyband from Johnny's and Johnny's artists never have covers on the Oricon for some reason.

The only reason that Ayu's been getting no.1's is because the marketing, which prevents her going head to head with artists like B/z, Mr.Children, OR, UTADA HIKARU etc. Of course it's still too early to say but if Ayu *does* get no.2 this time then the marketing people are to blame for not seeing the popularity of the Kanji8 single.

I think it is just a date malfunction... but I have to say, Japan is getting tired of Ayu, if she lowed her singles to two a year, then slowly to one a year, she'd get a lot more sales like UTADA... but I still think she'll get number one when the dates are right... HEAVEN is too good to pass up... it's her "real" long awaited ballad...

People are getting awfully upset about this....I'm in Japan right now but am not gonna buy that single. CDs are expensive in Japan. It's more practical to save your cash for an album rather than blow money on singles which will ultimately be included in the album anyway.
