Gaze at the Orange Sunset in the HALCALI Official Thread

I really like halcali, they have a cool style. I have all their albums, and I almost like all their songs, but i've actually ask every japanese person who rode in my car if they understand what the heck their songs are about, and noone knew, and one asked me if it was Hindu language -_-

i just find it funny.

So do you guy have like any translation of their songs, I really would like to know what their songs are all about.

lovia 28th September 2005 07:19 PM

i heard of halcali! they were cute!! but! i only watch one of their performance in music station only.. so sorry of no help to u! =P

Ballerina_xXX 2nd October 2005 02:21 AM

For Halcali translations check out:

mognet.net: ((there translations include))
Ah,Halcali Sensation
Giri-Giri Surfrider
Halcali Rhythm "candy hearts"
Highway to the beach
Marching March
Tandem
Peek-a-boo

Centrigrade-J:
Stylish Stylish
Strawberry Chips
and some more... i can't remember

sora-kara 3rd October 2005 06:51 PM

I love HALCALI
:)
They're my favourite (not really...but you know :P)

Apparently they've performed a new song called Twinkle Star recently.
New single perhaps? :D

Delirium-Zer0 3rd October 2005 11:42 PM

I haven't heard anything new of theirs since Halcali Bacon came out ^^;; I stopped following jpop for awhile after that, so. :P

I like Stylee Stylee (or Stylish Stylish), Electric Sensei, and Halcalism alot though. :)

sexysaucestar 4th March 2006 02:28 AM

*bump*

HALCALI is an interesting duo; does anybody else think they're a mix of Heartsdales / Puffy [AmiYumi]/ Orange Range? :laugh Those are the three groups HALCALI reminds me of ^^;

But anyway, they're cute and their style is somewhat unique. The PVs are insanely random...haha.

orenji_jaro 5th March 2006 03:44 AM

their cool kind alike orange range ^^ thats why i liked their music

sora-kara 5th March 2006 06:07 AM

Definately Densetsu no Futari on their second album (Ongaku no Susume) reminds me of Puffy. The style of the song, and even their voices sound so much like Puffy I bet you could slap it on a Puffy disc and not notice the difference. It's kinda freaky actually......

I've not listened to Orange Range though...so I don't know.
And the first couple if pictures that Sony put out of the girls bore an uncanny resemblance to Heartsdales:
http://wiki.theppn.org/images/4/42/H...sony_first.JPG

and

http://www.sonymusic.co.jp/Music/Inf...FA010785_L.jpg

thankfully they haven't really used that look for anything other than a couple of pics on their website.

sexysaucestar 5th March 2006 06:39 AM

^ Glad somebody agrees with me somewhat ;) I mean, they're their own unique duo, but I just found it amusing how

1) Their musical style at times sounds just like Puffy...plus they do the whole "who stands on which side" bit (Haruka on left, Yukari on right), which I know Puffy does as well (perhaps this is a thing most Japanese duos do so people won't get them mixed up? o_o)

2) Heartsdales - girls rapping.

3) Orange Range - their crazy rapping skills...HALCALI sings some stuff really fast like OR does o_O; And their songs are just as random as OR's can be. ^^

Cookie Holiday 5th March 2006 05:08 PM

I was kinda interested when I first heard about halcali but was kinda disappointed after hearing them. I'ev only heard three songs but none really impressed me, I don't know if this makes any sense but from their style it seems like I should like them. Maybe I haven't heard the right songs or something but I still feel like I could like them even though I'm not keen on anything I've heard as of yet.

sexysaucestar 5th March 2006 06:21 PM

^ Which songs did you hear exactly? ^^;

Sweer 6th March 2006 12:17 AM

I LOVE HALCALI!!!! :D

though I've only "just" learned about them ^^
I saw their GiriGiri Safuuraidaa PV on the JPopsuki stream and thought it was the most amuzing PV ever ^__^
but I didnt pay attention to the name and forgot about it again fast
but then just by coincidence I switched in just at the right time to see it again and that time noted the name :)

and thanks to superdonut I could dl their stuff as well!

what I admire about them the most, is that they really seem to enjoy themselves when perfoming a song, be it the singing or the dancing. :)
it all seems so unstrained/informal and fun ^___^

well I havent heard any song by Heartsdale and havent actually heard of them at all except for some sets someone posted in the fan works board.
as for Orange Range. I just saw 2 pvs of them I think and forgot all about what it sounded like already ^^ so I cant really compare it
and regarding Puffy [amiyumi]... I only know the cartoon thus the few songs in it, but I agree with the fixed position stuff ^^

Hazuki 6th March 2006 12:41 AM

Woaaah; That picture of the Heartsdales & Halcali look so much alike.. Are you sure it's not the same people o__o

I really like the Halcali duo, I love their rapping, their singing.. AND THEIR DANCING IS THE BEST :P I actually tried to dance like them.. u__u' You can imagine XD

They're an awesome duo, I can never say that the Halcali songs sound like another artist. They're just too unique to me. :P

Giri Giri Surfrider was the first PV I saw from them (and the first song I heard) Then, I really got into them! =)
Yay for Halcali fans! :D

sexysaucestar 6th March 2006 02:07 AM

^ Giri Giri Surfrider was the second PV I saw of theirs..actually Sweer (comment above yours) showed me their "Baby Blue" PV on Youtube first ^^; Random PVs but definitely entertaining. :P

Sweer 7th March 2006 12:54 AM

my current favorite song is Fuwa Fuwa Band New.
it just sounds so 80's :P I love it ^___^

so whats your current fav from HALCALI?

orenji_jaro 7th March 2006 01:11 AM

HALCALi is very diffrent and they dance so different ^^

sexysaucestar 7th March 2006 05:13 AM

I listened to Fuwa Fuwa Brand New last night :) I gave it 3/5 stars on my iTunes. :D

As for current favorite..I like Tip Taps Tip (although the song title totally confuses me o_o)

hallelujah_united 7th March 2006 01:43 PM

Just tried them out, and they're definitely not run-of-the-mill pop. Uber-funky and insanely random. I like.

Like I mentioned in another thread, there's a band in Taiwan called Won Fu that vaguely resembles HALCALI, although they do more retro stuff. But just as random and fun as them.

sexysaucestar 7th March 2006 04:47 PM

^ Did you go look at their PVs on Youtube? :P Even more random, hahaha.

hallelujah_united 8th March 2006 01:05 PM

I currently have Tandem and Giri Giri Surfrider. Not boring at all. =)

Shall take a look soon then.

sexysaucestar 8th March 2006 05:49 PM

^ All their PVs are random, haha. Next watch "Baby Blue" and "Twinkle Star"

...their "Tip Taps Tip" PV was kind of boring though o_o; But I like that song a lot.

Sweer 9th March 2006 01:07 PM

^I thought the hair was pretty creepy :P

anyone here that knows some japanese *peering at soysaucestar* ;)
I found this interview
^_____^

sexysaucestar 9th March 2006 04:40 PM

*looks at interview now, will translate later...maybe...;)*

sora-kara 10th March 2006 07:11 PM

hm...

Does anyone here visit Halcali Day By Day?

It's an awesome newsblog for HALCALI. If you don't already visit there, you certainly should start! ^_^

Sweer 10th March 2006 07:33 PM

^oh cool thanks :)
I didnt know that site ^^

I came across that site via Google search ;) Tis pretty informative ^^

hallelujah_united 11th March 2006 04:23 PM

They're the craziest and funkiest things around in J-Pop today. :D

sexysaucestar 13th March 2006 07:19 AM

Too bad they're not as well known (it seems that way anyway). :cry

hallelujah_united 13th March 2006 03:29 PM

We could help spread the love around though. And it's THEIR loss if they decide to continue ignoring HALCALI. :)

sora-kara 14th March 2006 04:15 AM

I introduced HALCALI to a bunch of my friends.
They all generally enjoy them and find them entertaining, but one of my friends loved them enough to go out and buy their first album!
*she also tried to buy the second album, but it was unavailable on YesAsia*

hallelujah_united 14th March 2006 02:46 PM

I did that too but they found HALCALI too weird and quirky for their liking. Seems as though they like their music serious (and dull). :(

LEOyumi 14th March 2006 05:03 PM

Twinkle Star is insane! I love it <3

hallelujah_united 19th March 2006 03:49 PM

^Actually, every song is just about as insane except for Tip Taps Tip probably.

sexysaucestar 19th March 2006 05:29 PM

Yeah, Tip Taps Tip was more mellow for HALCALI o_O

Sweer 19th March 2006 06:46 PM

^yupp but its quite a pretty song, though it has a weird-hair pv O_o

sexysaucestar 19th March 2006 06:48 PM

We should all make our hair like theirs from the Tip Taps Tip PV, hahah. That'd be hilarious....;)

hallelujah_united 20th March 2006 02:16 PM

I wanna advertise for donuts though, so it's the Twinkle Star PV for me.

sora-kara 20th March 2006 04:57 PM

No way!
Everyone should definately do Strawberry Chips for the Christmas trees.

Or GiriGiri Surf Rirder so we could all be in a gang :P

orenji_jaro 20th March 2006 05:58 PM

aa! sugoi~ let's cosplay harukari mv then~ ^^

i liek the hair on TIP TAPS TIP it's not wierd.. o.O

and anyone noticve that TIP TAPS TIP is the only mv they made that they're not dancing? >__<" but it was good atleast they made a semi-mellow song so i can listen to it while sleep ^^

mishidabo 21st March 2006 02:26 AM

i like halcali.. but only bc of O.F.T.... i love ryo-z lyrics. and Fu-chans music is just awesome..
anyway
i think the girls are cute.. and they can do some pretty good work ..support! ^_^

Yeah they're not dancing in that PV...instead they keep holding up those matches o_O;;.....

Haha HALCALI cosplay? Hmmm....*ponders*

hallelujah_united 21st March 2006 03:19 PM

It'd be so fun to do Giri Giri Surfrider! Plus, we get to try that folding paper thing for ourselves!

Who wants to be in my gang?

sexysaucestar 21st March 2006 04:47 PM

o_O Are you going to be one of the gang leaders (I meant leaders, whoops)...

sora-kara 22nd March 2006 03:31 AM

I wanna be in the gang with the jeans and cool jackets! 8)

hehe

yeah....let's beat up some girls in black dresses!
My friend and I are considering cosplaying HALCALI for an upcoming anime convention.....no one would know who we are though!

sexysaucestar 22nd March 2006 03:42 AM

^ That would be really awesome if you guys did cosplay HALCALI :P You must show pics if you do so! ^^

hallelujah_united 22nd March 2006 09:06 AM

^I second that suggestion. Cosplaying HALCALI will probably be so much fun indeed!

I guess the taller one of you two should be Halca.

sora-kara 22nd March 2006 06:09 PM

My thoughts exactly.
I'm taller, so I'd be Halca.
My friend likes hats, so Yucali fits her fine :P

sexysaucestar 22nd March 2006 11:46 PM

How tall ara Halca and Yucali anyway? o_o *curious*

Sweer 23rd March 2006 12:17 AM

thats such a cool idea
definitely cosplay HALCALI :D
the choreography from Giri Giri Surfrider is soo cool, but maybe its a bit hard to catch if from the PV alone
and if you're cosplaying it at the con, maybe you should take a laptop with you that has the PV on it, so ppl can compare it to the original ^^

sora-kara 23rd March 2006 06:41 PM

^that's a crazy idea. o_O

I don't have a laptop anyway, and I know that my friend will not want to dance. hehe
*I sooo want to cosplay Strawberry Chips though! >.<*

Actually, if we do it I think we might take the easy way out and do either Baby Blue! or Electric Sensei. Both are pretty easy costumes...we'd just stamp HALCALI symbols on them :P

sexysaucestar 23rd March 2006 08:03 PM

Haha, isn't the Strawberry Chips PV where they're dressed as trees? I think that'd be funny for you to try. :P Hahah.

Sweer 25th March 2006 12:43 AM

^thought they were dressed as huge strawberries
havent seen it in a while though ^^;

random: pics from my 2 favorite scenes from the Twinkle Star PV ^^

damn... forgot to take a pic of the exploding cat :rolleyes

sexysaucestar 25th March 2006 12:52 AM

The cat exploded in the PV? o_O I didn't notice that...Yucali looks funny in the first screencap :P She looks like she's chomping on gum or something haha. :P Halca looks funny in the background, too...

Sweer 25th March 2006 12:09 PM

^of course it did ;)

here you see the inncent and totally unexpecting cat:
http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/387/cat12uz.jpg
http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/6674/cat29wj.jpg

but then, all of a sudden.. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/3881/cat37mt.jpg

hallelujah_united 25th March 2006 03:44 PM

No wonder I was also thinking "exploding cat". Turns out it wasn't as graphic as I expected.

sora-kara 26th March 2006 03:23 PM

^Yeah...it more of 'pooofed' than exploded.

BWAHAHAHAHAA!
I love those screen shots!

This single completely tanked though...v_v

sexysaucestar 26th March 2006 05:50 PM

^ How did the single tank exactly? o_o

hallelujah_united 27th March 2006 03:57 PM

They've not been selling very well all along have they?

sora-kara 27th March 2006 08:46 PM

Tandem was their best selling single, and it actually did pretty well.
It peaked at #19, and charted for 24 weeks.

But Twinkle Star.....only charted for one week, and peaked at #104.
It didn't even sell 2000 copies.

sexysaucestar 28th March 2006 03:08 AM

^ Wow...not so great :( I guess they don't really have a large fanbase...

hallelujah_united 28th March 2006 03:17 PM

^When you fly over to Japan, make sure to convert a few fans too! :D

sexysaucestar 28th March 2006 04:09 PM

Haha I'll try that out. Maybe the daughters of my host parents will be influenced by my crazy musical tastes :yes :P

sora-kara 28th March 2006 10:41 PM

Maybe they'll already like HALCALI o_O
Then what would you do?

sexysaucestar 29th March 2006 02:52 AM

^ Hehe that'll be cool then :P We'll have something to discuss!! ;)

Sweer 30th March 2006 04:55 PM

not even 2000 copies?? O_o
does that even cover the expenses for the video?

sexysaucestar 30th March 2006 06:54 PM

Maybe not....:-\ Poor Halca and Yucali...:weep

hallelujah_united 31st March 2006 03:30 PM

Yeah, LITERALLY poor.

It's not that our musical tastes are too crazy though, just others being too mundane. :)

sora-kara 31st March 2006 06:44 PM

^ Good thinking! ^_^

I guess the single wasn't really promoted well though....
Tip Taps Tip pretty well did its own promotion as an ending theme for Eureka 7, but Twinkle Star didn't have that.........I wonder what was done to promote it?

sexysaucestar 31st March 2006 06:50 PM

^ Ah, so Tip Taps Tip was an ending theme for a game/anime? No wonder.

I also wonder what was done to promote Twinkle Star o_O They should do more CMs and lives!! As far as I know (based off of Youtube searches), they only did one live for Twinkle Star...

Tip Taps Tip was the ending theme for an anime.
They actually did a bunch of live tv performances for it.
But yeah, Twinkle Star only had one live performance....and the girls never get to talk when they do lives! :headache

Lumix 31st March 2006 09:04 PM

i like them though their music is a bit "easy" for me :)

Why don't they get to talk when they do lives?? o_O;; I read somewhere that apparently their personal lives are kept secret to protect them...so maybe that's why they don't get to talk during their lives. :shrug

hallelujah_united 1st April 2006 05:05 PM

Or maybe they just don't get a chance compared to the more well-known singers appearing on the same show. Music Station is only one hour long you know.

Sweer 2nd April 2006 08:47 PM

^ yeah that could be
I think its also quite rare that there is a feature on them in magazines
so regarding promotion, I think they're not supported well enough, but this is mostly due to their rather exclusive style, which might not have such a great fan base to begin with ^^

hallelujah_united 4th April 2006 02:49 PM

Yeah. Because we're too cool for others. :)

sexysaucestar 5th April 2006 02:33 AM

*random* When I was boarding the plane to Japan I thought I saw a girl who looked like Yucali...hahaha.

Sweer 5th April 2006 11:58 AM

^oh did you remember to ask her if she would marry me? ^^

sexysaucestar 5th April 2006 12:13 PM

I think she would have ran away from me at that point..considering how my Japanese speaking skills are kind of shaky right now...I would have made a mistake and would have made her think I was asking her to marry me o_O;; Oy, that would be a bad situation. :shakehead

hallelujah_united 5th April 2006 05:17 PM

How bad could that be? We live in the age of same-sex marriages after all.

sexysaucestar 6th April 2006 03:48 AM

^ Well I don't swing that way yo.

hallelujah_united 6th April 2006 03:22 PM

But....you can get Halcali CDs free for the rest of your life!

sexysaucestar 6th April 2006 03:44 PM

HAHA...I'll be her FRIEND not her wife, hahahahha.

hallelujah_united 7th April 2006 12:51 PM

Somehow, I think that being her wife is still a better idea. At least you stand in a more important position.

Sweer 7th April 2006 03:25 PM

^no no no no no, she was ought to ask her if she would ask her to marry ME not her... :(

I think you should ask your host family how to say that in japanese without sounding too importunate ^^
just in case you meet her again or someone else... like Kyoko ;)

orenji_jaro 7th April 2006 07:56 PM

is someone know when will harucari be out with a new single?

sexysaucestar 9th April 2006 03:26 AM

Look look what I bought yesterday :P (I'm posting this on the other threads, too....I'm so giddy, hahahah):

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...nkhalcali1.jpg

HALCALI singles!! :) I wanted to buy their albums but HMV didn't have them grr >_<;; Still, I figured to support HALCALI and buy these two singles hehe. :D

hallelujah_united 9th April 2006 04:03 PM

Sweer or Helene, either of you will do. Just get married to either member, or better still, take one each.

And enjoy free Halcali works forever. I'll be sure to keep in touch with you guys then. ;)

Sweer 9th April 2006 04:30 PM

^hehehe :P we'll see... but to make this clear: Yukari is mine!! :mischief

and you got some nice merchandise there Helene ^____^
the Mink covers are so artsy :)

sexysaucestar 9th April 2006 05:46 PM

^ Haha you can have Yukari, I'm not a lesbian, no matter what Benny thinks :P

Methinks Sweer should be a mink fan, too :innocent :D Hehe!

Edit: I forgot to add....tonight when I did karaoke, I tried singing "Twinkle Star"...unfortunately I could only karaoke the singing parts, not the rapping parts...chotto hayai!!! T_T (A bit fast)....but still, it was fun to sing, hehe. :P

hallelujah_united 11th April 2006 04:28 PM

I thought the Twinkle Star rap was slow compared to some of the other songs they do. Your mouth is slow. :eviltongu

And Sweer isn't a mink fan? The horrors.

sexysaucestar 12th April 2006 08:05 AM

^ No..the rap is actually pretty fast still. :( My mouth IS NOT SLOW...now that sounds totally wrong. o_O;;;;;

hallelujah_united 12th April 2006 03:10 PM

It sounds wrong only if you think of it that way. Tsk.

sexysaucestar 15th April 2006 07:53 AM

-_-; I'd like to see you try doing karaoke to one of their songs then. :eviltongu

hallelujah_united 15th April 2006 05:56 PM

Well obviously you've never seen "Fast-mouth" Benny perform before then...

Sweer 20th April 2006 12:41 PM

Scant details

It's not much, but it's something. Halcali are definatly recording again. As to what they were recording, Yukari wouldn't say, mentioning only in her diary yesterday that they both went out for curry before heading to the recording studio. So was it the new single? Work for the new album? I pored over the entry from start to finish but there was nothing more than the frustrating hint that she would reveal some information ("We also ate curry before recording Twinkle Star, Check!!check!!it!! and now...this time too!"), but in the end she never did.
Which reminds me about another, even scanter detail. I've read a few rumours that Capitol's Taichi Master is one of the producers working on album 3 (and in another connection, Sony's DJ Tasaka worked as a producer on the new Taichi Master album, and was also involved in Ongaku No Susume's Oboroge Copy View). This might come to nothing of course, and I only mention it because when I posted that rumour I read about Twinkle Star last year, it (eventually) came true.
Hopefully there's some more concrete new single/new album related information just around the corner.
from http://halcali.blogspot.com/

sexysaucestar 20th April 2006 12:50 PM

^ Ah! I wonder where they went to go eat curry. :D Hehehe..must go track them down! :P

hallelujah_united 20th April 2006 02:04 PM

I've always believed that good things always come out of curry meals.

How about the next album being named "HalCURRY"?

sexysaucestar 20th April 2006 02:21 PM

Ha...ha....very punny, Benny. :P

Side note: Good things do come out of curry meals indeed. :D I had curry today. :innocent

hallelujah_united 20th April 2006 02:51 PM

I miss curry rice. Haven't had it in a week, maybe I should go get some tomorrow.
