'Pride' romaji and translation

I'm not sure if my romanization is correct or not in the fifth stanza, and I think it's better to leave the translation part blank till the official lyrics are out. If you find any unnatural parts, please inform me.

"The freedom you have is so dazzling"
Said a girl
"Even if I can't find the meaning of my existence?"
I answered

Supposing man is a creature
Who is always asking for things he doesn't have
Ah, what is it
That we truly want to have?

And then
The girl just struggled and struggled
And when she noticed she was filled with emptiness
She had a new understanding

We always open the window to tomorrow
By dreaming
Ah, though we know
Nothing is certain in this world

Flowers are surely waiting for us
In a place we haven't yet seen
Before we are used to being bored
And our time passes quickly

Even if it's the end of the world
Even if people say with laughter that we are trying in vain
Let's go together
Because nothing is so fearful as giving up

Raleigh 22nd November 2005 05:54 PM

Lovely lyrics. I love the meaning given to them.

Neo Daydream 22nd November 2005 06:00 PM

Mirai Noah 22nd November 2005 06:15 PM

Thanks for the lyrics and translation! I really like them.

SunshineSlayer 22nd November 2005 06:24 PM

Spectacular lyrics. :) Maybe her best this year.

JimmyKoria 22nd November 2005 07:49 PM

Thank you. The song is better than I thought it would be. :x someone was right about it being "yuu" and not "iu"

Cyria 22nd November 2005 08:15 PM

Thanks for the translation! The lyrics are lovely.

Delirium-Zer0 22nd November 2005 08:28 PM

those lyrics are really pretty ;_;

everlastingRAINBOW 22nd November 2005 08:32 PM

They are very gorgeous lyrics, I love how they never repeat. They tell a little story ^^

ohsixthirty 22nd November 2005 08:36 PM

i like this line:

And when she noticed she was filled with emptiness
She had a new understanding

thanks for always providing us with translations masa!!!

Celaphorce 22nd November 2005 09:39 PM

Like I said before Ayu has outdone herself again with once again another amazing ballad. I love the chorus, and the choir that joins in the stanza's with her.

Delirium-Zer0 22nd November 2005 10:53 PM

bleeding tear, your signature is too big and the code seems to be breaking the page o_o

The point of my post... the first stanza really grabs your attention! As soon as i read those lyrics i wanted to read the rest. And I'm glad i did because the last few lines are a great conclusion, the last line itself in particular. The story it tells is just so great.

*hearT_Place* 22nd November 2005 11:33 PM

WOW! Those are BEAUTIFUL lyrics!

Thanks so much for the translation!

Calico 23rd November 2005 12:26 AM

Oh, those are beautiful! I agree that these are one of the best sets of lyrics this year...right up there with alterna. I have a hard time matching the meaning of the lyrics to the style of the song, but they are a lovely pair anyway.

Thank you!

lotusoka 23rd November 2005 12:40 AM

Thanks, I like the lyrics.

Taishaku 23rd November 2005 01:17 AM

I hated the song, but with such beautiful and meaningful lyrics, i think i should give it another chance... :`)

Thank you so much for this!!! ^^

Ayumi no Yume 23rd November 2005 01:25 AM

Thank you so much for these! I attempted myself, but it's quite hard without the official Kanji/Kana (or even romanji)
i really miss this stuff....Ayu hasn't had this powerful feeling in her music for a while.
Thank you!
(and KORiA, rofl. I didn't know about that line)

gaara_is_hot18 23rd November 2005 01:32 AM

Aww, I love the lyrics

puiteng 23rd November 2005 01:40 AM

thanks!!

Jennie Mae 23rd November 2005 02:34 AM

Thanks for the lovely translation masa!

Catzi 23rd November 2005 02:42 AM

Ah.. I know how that "girl" feels. Lovely lyrics.

Echiko 23rd November 2005 03:44 AM

Thankies masa!! :D

Joel 23rd November 2005 03:46 AM

O!! Thank you!!!!!

fεяnαndδ 23rd November 2005 04:32 AM

Arigatou, masa! You rule! :yes

Shiso 23rd November 2005 11:02 AM

masa-san, I don;t understand the stanza with the "moon".

"Supposing man is a creature
Who is always asking for the moon"

I can't find anything with "tsuki" in the romaji version... or maybe it's a symbol of something like "Supposing man is a creature who is always asking for more"?

And as always thank You for the great lyrics translation! I hope the official lyrics will be revealed soon and You will complete "Pride" (and "Bold & Delicious") lyrics!

thanks for always providing us with translations masa!!!

I love that line. It reminds me of her Duty album lyrics for some odd reason.

masa 23rd November 2005 11:27 AM

According to the online dictionary, "ask for the moon" is an English phrase meaning "want things one doesn't have", and I thought it was all right. But this is a part about which I'd like to hear the opinions of English-speaking people.

Shiso 23rd November 2005 11:32 AM

I am not a native speaker of English but that phrase seems awkward to me... I never heard it before... but I think native speakers should be the ones to speak :)

At least I am now sure what You meant :)

Thanks again!

"Supposing man is a creature

That line is grammatically correct and it makes sense to native English speakers. "Asking for the moon" is a commonly known saying. However, since Ayu did not specifically use the word "tsuki", I would have probably translated it as this:

"Supposing man is a creature
Who is always asking for things he can't have"

Masa, I'm impressed by you trying to incoporate english sayings in your translations. :)

fεяnαndδ 23rd November 2005 12:29 PM

It's correct, indeed.

AyuGAME 23rd November 2005 01:24 PM

thx for the translation
weird as ussual but has a deep meaning
i love it

Rebirthia 23rd November 2005 01:30 PM

Fevenita 23rd November 2005 06:18 PM

Thank you so much for the lyrics (& translation), they're so beautiful :)

Amrita 23rd November 2005 06:48 PM

Thanks a lot masa-san. Really beautiful lyrics.

Because nothing is so fearful as giving up

Has anybody noticed that she has used a line like this before?
When I first read it, it sounded somehow familiar to me so I searched for something similar in previous lyrics.
And I actually found:

What is sad is to give up
(Naturally)

Starshape 24th November 2005 01:34 AM

The phrase is correct but it doesn't seem natural to use it since tsuki isn't used in the lyrics... It feels wierd because a moon is something so specific in lyrics.

"Supposing man is a creature
Who is always asking for things that's out of reach" or simply "asking for too much"

Baernash 24th November 2005 02:09 AM

As I supposed - one of the best lyrics this year ^^

evechoco 24th November 2005 09:08 AM

thanks for the lyrics

fεяnαndδ 24th November 2005 10:15 AM

Creatures don't ask for things. >_>

fεяnαndδ 24th November 2005 10:21 AM

By the way, chocopockymaster's lyrics (they can be found in my "Pride lyrics. Highly inaccurate, PLEASE make corrections" thread) are rather similar to yours. =P

Raleigh 24th November 2005 10:22 AM

It's just poetry and thus there's more freedom. It could be a form of personification.

Shiso 24th November 2005 03:17 PM

Why not? If the term "creatures" is used to represent human beings I think they CAN ask for anything ;)

^ <3 your sarcasm humors me

that's beautiful :) I can't wait to see the PV

walking proud 25th November 2005 01:06 AM

Does this remind anyone else of Britney Spears' "Lucky"?

Ami_Yang 25th November 2005 04:33 AM

Those are BEAUTIFUL lyrics!

thanks for the translation masa :)

"kitto aru madaminu basho ni wa"

Neo Daydream 7th December 2005 07:00 PM

masa 9th December 2005 05:23 PM

There was one mistake in my romanization. Please correct.
juyuu --> jiyuu (the 1st line)
And I think it's completed now.

princess 10th December 2005 06:59 AM

Thanks. The lyrics for this song is beautiful. =)

fεяnαndδ 10th December 2005 09:18 AM

masa-san, you should edit your first post when the original lyrics come out. That way, people who find the thread AFTER the official lyrics are revealed don't have to scroll all the way down. It'd be much more convenient. Just a suggestion. ^^;

masa 10th December 2005 09:46 PM

Thanks for your suggestion.
If some other members think it's better, too, I'll edit my first post.

Ryoko 10th December 2005 10:18 PM

Ayu may be back on her good lyrics spree! The first two lines are really good.

masa, it probably is a good idea.
