royle 5th December 2005 12:00 PM

off topic: ayu in your signature is sooo hot !!!

fεяnαndδ 5th December 2005 01:47 PM

Hmm... is that a question, or a debate?

If it's a question, it belongs in Enquiries. But you should already know that, so I guess it's a debate.

I don't think she is.

dulceku 5th December 2005 04:13 PM

I prefer to think she's not... but I think actually she's turning a bit...
She always has been a simple person.

walking proud 5th December 2005 04:16 PM

I don't think so.. if she were arrogant her songs would be about how much she rules :<

[AHS]MortalSex 5th December 2005 04:19 PM

Don´t really know, there is no documentation how she lives her private life and there has been many rumours how she´s living her life but there is no evidences :P

alternarist 5th December 2005 04:22 PM

i dont think she is arrogant. jus look at the way she presented herself in Music Station past few days.. she is so friendly with everyone.. there was laughter.. and also from disc 3 of ARENA TOUR 2005 ~MY STORY~, u can see how she treat her dancers and band members... :D:D:D

AyUmIXx 5th December 2005 04:24 PM

I think... she's not!
coz as we can see all the way back...the way she talks, the way she laughs, the way she cries.... that's all looks so down to earth....
She's definitely a friendly woman...

Neil 5th December 2005 05:08 PM

From what I hear, she's not arrogant but sees herself as a bit of a diva.

Yeah, it's hard to tell unless you really know the person... so I don't know if she is arrogant or not.

Madgirlslovesong 5th December 2005 07:12 PM

Well considering I don't know her, have never met her, and have never seen her outside of performing, I have absolutely no idea.

I'm sure that was extremely helpful for you. :)

Raleigh 5th December 2005 11:02 PM

I wouldn't know. She seems a bit shy sometimes from what I've noticed. Like if people don't speak to her she won't try to initiate a conversation.

LacusClyne 6th December 2005 02:29 AM

arrogant, not really. she seems to be able to get along with everyone. but ayu do think highly of herself and she had very high expectations though. so, maybe there would be people who do not understand it and thought ayu was being difficult.

Neo Daydream 6th December 2005 02:43 AM

ayu, arrogant!? no way!

Yukitora 6th December 2005 02:52 AM

Possibly, but it is not as if we need to know... we aren't going to meet her in person and can enjoy being her fans without knowing her personal habits and thoughts. Of course, fans would hate to be unknowingly worshipping (I don't like using this world in this context, but it's the only one I can think of) arrogant, horrible-in-real-life people, but if Ayu was that type of person, you wouldn't be attracted to them in the first place. Actors are actors and pretend to hide those things, artists and artists and express themselves fully. Remember that. From what I can tell, Ayu is most likely not arrogant, but probably feels that she has lots of power (as she kinda does...)

hiro 6th December 2005 03:50 AM

It shouldn't be our business to know. They make music for us to enjoy and that should be it.

If you met your a person you respected for their music and it turns out he or she was a horrible person that would be so earth shattering. Best not to know i think.

BUT just to say, people who rise to the top and stay there usually have very strong personalities.

:yes so it backing up what hiro said, it wouldnt be a surprise if she was "arrogant".

hiro 6th December 2005 07:59 AM

well having a strong personality doesnt necesarily mean the person is self centred

Raleigh 6th December 2005 05:35 PM

Yeah some people just have a strong personality. Doesn't mean they are proud.

elepop 7th December 2005 12:01 AM

What kind of question is that? :rolleyes

emi♡ 7th December 2005 04:28 AM

i personally don't think she is...i have heard that she is stuck-up, but i think it was just said by people who are not her fans...however i do believe she has every right to be stuck-up...hehe

orenji_jaro 7th December 2005 05:57 AM

i dont think so... she looks like a mass person... she's like the other people in japan! she's not like christina aguilera or britney spears or compare ayu to an american pop star... >_<" u've seen her making off shot right? that' how she was in her real life she's funny silly, girly, and most of all! she's an idol and a model for japanese! ^^ ICON! ^^

everlastingRAINBOW 7th December 2005 05:59 AM

I hear she is a tad :P

Keishi 7th December 2005 11:31 AM

don't we have a thread discussing about how ayu's relationship with other artists? check them out and see how ayu tend to be silent when kumi were trying to initiate a chat with her.... also check how she was staring at nakashima mika...that was a big LOL....

from that thread, I guess we're able to judge whether ayu is arrogant or not...

Umm, we don't even know if Kumi was even trying to talk to her. She could have been listening to Matsuura and his friend. And the picture of Ayu & Mika doesn't prove anything. It looks more like they're both bored out of their brains than anything.

Brittany 7th December 2005 05:25 PM

She seems humble to me :>

Ayane 9th December 2005 08:25 AM

I don't think so. I mean she always shower a million "thank you's" to everybody.

Keishi 9th December 2005 08:35 AM

^isn't it just for formalities?

Winterkill: Perhaps, we just don't know...

Even so, I found it odd that Ayumi didn't even try to listen to the conversation that her own producer was ingrossed in. It's like shutting yourself out intentionally.

Anyways, no one can be nice all the time, especially in the business of entertainment. If you've all seen the NTV special on Ayumi, then you will know that she also has the capacity to blow up at people and get bossy for whatever reasons. "Normal" people can be arrogant, why couldn't someone famous do the same? It shouldn't matter since it's obviously carried her through the changing waves of jpop.

no, it doesn't...ayu actually seems like a quite, and collective person...they actually looked like they were both on drugs in that picture...:yes i mean come on...how do you find a picture like that...:D

Kikaru 10th December 2005 06:21 AM

I honestly don't know if Ayu's arrogant or not. I've never met her and I don't understand Japanese. But however...

Arrogance is interepreted through each individually. How two people feel about a person can be completely different. For example, a friend of Ayu can say that she's very humble and sweet, but someone who thinks Ayu is not...nice might think differently because he/she has different interpretation of her words, or that he/she simply caught Ayu on a bad day. It happens, I have friends who a lot of people think are bossy and annoying but I love them and think they're the nicest people ever.

My somewhat of a long post is to say: to determine Ayu's personality or to see whether nor not she's arrogant, meet her in person. Meet her in person and have at least a thirty minutes talk with her.

Plus she's only human, and there are certain times where we (human) just feel and act arrogant. It's part of human behavior.

chibi_sunny 14th December 2005 10:30 PM

i dont think Ayu is arrogant....something just tells me that! She seems so friendly!

Lumix 14th December 2005 11:03 PM

Maybe little. :D Sometimes she seems to be, but just little. I noticed it in her SEASONS era.. it was her arrogant period, IMO. I was watching few talks and she wasn't really nice there.

freedreamer 15th December 2005 04:00 PM

I think Ayu is proud.....of her career

NO WAY arrogant cause its clearly seen in her lives...Everytime she sing finish, always have that cute smile

lovemimi40 16th December 2005 12:30 AM

Honestly, I think she is. I read an article about ayu and namie and apparently, ayu keeps calling namie "the monkey" cuz she was in a group before called Super Monkeys and she would keep asking "so what is the "monkey" up to now".
Also, at the opening of Mr and Mrs Smith, she whispered something to max's ears and even pointed at someone....the first thought that came to my mind was that she was saying something bad about kumi. And when she sat down, sure she said hello to ku, but then she seemed like she didn't want to be there..
but who knows..those are just speculation..
Also, something that somewhat bugs me is that in her videos (pv or lives), she seems to like to be the "center" of everything...like she's on top, everyone else is surrounding her, "worshiping" her, carrying her...I think that's a form of arrogance..
anyways, don't shoot me :P

ruixiong89 16th December 2005 10:04 AM

Well, Japanese Society has a culture of self depreciation ... I know Ayu treasures her fans a lot. And she's great friends with Kaori Mochida and the whole TRF. She treats her guests on Ayu Ready? with warmth as well and I don't think it's fake in anyway.

But I do agree that she could be arrogant at times ... but I think it's all part of normal human behaviour. She has reason to be proud, but arrogant, nah, I don't think so.

With regards to the whole Ayu vs. Namie thing, I think it's just crappy nonsense that the media makes up. Like Britney vs. Christina. So I would very much ignore those.

Can we make a sort of wiki for the board with an article saying, "The whole Ayumi calling Namie a monkey thing was part of a tabloid, take it with a grain on salt"? Among a million other rumors.

I'm certain she appears arrogant at times but as to her actually being arrogant I have no say on the matter unless of course I actually met her in the next century. With regards to the Kumi/Max thing at the premiere I'm quite the introvert when I'm not in a group of people I know so I would've likely just stayed in my own little bubble and with Kumi appearing to be a very vibrant and social person I'd probably shy away from bringing attention to myself.
