Who do U think should change their image

So its basically as the title say who would you like to see do something different with their public image and who do you think should stay the same.

I pesonally although i love her music would like to see koda kumi do something different about her image. (put more clothes on) and no she doesnt have to dress like a nun but it just seems that some of the stuff she does is a little tasteless.:thud

I would love mika nakashima to do more of a rock image :D

ai otsuka is starting to bug me a little too her image is almost too cutesy

utada hikaru -it would be nice if you smiled more (I mean ayu is a ballady <is that a word , artist but even she does fun videos too:D

namie- i love her as well but stop the raunchy songs like want me want me and if you can understand japanese you should know what i mean:headache

and ayu dont try to be over sexy your fans love you just as you are .:yes

i think thats it and let me say this also please no bashing all the people that i have mentioned above i am fans of so in no way am i bashing:no

Annabelle 5th January 2006 03:12 AM

I think they should stay exactly like they are :yes

sora-kara 5th January 2006 05:44 AM

I didn't really like Maaya Sakamoto's look for her latest album Yuunagi Loop. She could do something more classy for her next release.
I loved her look for Shounen Alice, but her looks is always changing, so I'm not really concerned.

I'd like to see Hikki do some more colourful and happy things like traveling. She was also soo cute like that! (although I love her new haircut!)

I'd like to see CORE OF SOUL completely revamp their image for some reason. I'm not sure why, but they should pull an entirelly different look.

I liked HALCALI's look for Tip Taps Tip, but I'm afraid they might end up looking like a pretty generic hip-hop duo under Sony's thumb.

Mika Nakashima looked awesomely hot all rocked out as Nana. She should definatlely do that again!

And Kuu, please, for the love of God put some clothes on!

lotusoka 5th January 2006 05:54 AM

Ayu has been looking classy to me lately... maybe thats just my opinion though?

The cover of Glamourous Sky makes my jaw drop everytime I see it. Mika should definitely do more with that look.

BanFan 5th January 2006 06:24 AM

Ai Otsuka is not too cutesy. She has plenty of mature songs. Let's see, with LOVE COOK, half the songs were mature, with the other half ranging from mellow and goofy, too a little crazy. She's not all cutesy. I'm happy with the way she is, if she had all mature music I'd get a little bored of her... .-.

People who should change their image, to better themselves (Not just for what the public wants), are:

Koda Kumi - I agree, please put some clothes on.

Mika Nakashima - The NANA look was for NANA, right? o_o;

HALCALI - I agree that T.T.T. is a bad sign for the future, oh commercialism/conformity. I miss Girigiri Surfrider!
-----------------------------------------------
Image changes are bad, too much annoying marketing and commercialism. Yuck. Except SAYAKA, she had a reason to change her image from cutesy pop-star. I feel so bad for her with all those family issues and her creepy over-protective mother (Seiko Matsuda) She definetely needs to be anything but a clone of her mother. :(

Raleigh 5th January 2006 06:29 AM

Yeah I agree. Koda's trying to be too sexy lately and it isn't exactly coming as great.

natalaxie 5th January 2006 06:54 AM

i agree with u tomiko8, especially about koda kumi lol. i dunno about mika nakashima doing rock tho lol. but yea i wish hikki wouldnt be so... serious... its depressing... lol

[AHS]MortalSex 5th January 2006 11:09 AM

Nothing special I like them how they are now =) different characters especially between Ayu,Kumi and Namie =)

elepop 5th January 2006 03:59 PM

Like Annabelle, I think they should just stick to the way they are.

And as for Mika, I really hope she's gonna stop acting like a rocker...

CREA.tive 5th January 2006 04:12 PM

Like a lot of ppl said: Kumi's acting too sexy!

bulmasman 5th January 2006 04:15 PM

The problem is that a lot of koda's appeal is her very sexy image, not to say she wouldn't be popular without it, but i can't see her going demure any time soon.

I actually like her image though... it's a stark contrast to the rest of the jpop world which is what makes it so stand out. If koda was to become popular in the west i doubt she'd stand out so much.

*Petit* 5th January 2006 05:52 PM

I'd like to see Hitomi Shimatani a lot "stronger", which means looking and sounding like she has more confidence in herself.

as for Koda I really agree with what bulmasman said. She's sexy in an unidolish, "mature" way (mature in that she's not "lolita"sexy like maaaany (most?9 of the other idols are.)

Um, actually, in her recent magazine shoots, Mika looks like normal Mika. As for performances, she wears suits (not men ones, lol) and looks great.

The whole 'rocker' style was for Nana, that's all. I agree that it doesn't look great on her at all. Her hair color turned into a yucky color.. I like the brown or black she had. It's back to its original color now.

I agree with Koda Kumi. People can be sexy WITH lots of clothes on. Well, I guess celebrities give off that 'fantasy' image for people.. so yeah.

Yeah! What really drew me to SAYAKA in the first place was the cover of Jougen no Tsuki. She looks awesome on it!

I'm wondering though, would you happen to know more about her, and why there has been no sign of activity since the release of Doll?
*I think they even took down her official site* :no

devilayu 5th January 2006 09:01 PM

Koda Kumi's image was always sexy, I don't see why it's a problem and she doesn't always wear revealing clothing. Sometimes I think since she has a curvy body, clothes look "sexier" on her than they would on someone who doesn't have her figure. She looks great and is a welcome contrast in an industry that too often relies on manufactured innocence to promote artists.

I'm not fond of Mika's hair at the moment (looks like a weird, spiky mullet) but I'm siding with those who think that the artists don't need to change their image. Whatever each of them is doing, it's working.

chibi_sunny 5th January 2006 11:18 PM

i think shimatani should change her image....try a different style, and so should namie...
kumi should do more songs like "Birthday Eve"...really cute
Ayu should stay the way she is^^, and so should utada.
maaya sakamoto, as already mentioned, should try something more classy.
i also enjoyed when mika became nana. it suits her a lot.

Just saw some new pictures of her and she does look great. :yes

I'm so glad she left that "rocker" look.

Kikaru 6th January 2006 03:50 AM

I would really want Otsuka Ai to just get a little more mature. Since I'm not really fond of her "cutesy" songs, her "I'm a little girl" image is starting to annoy me, and LOVE COOK did not help otherwise.

I like Mika's current image.

Koda Kumi have a nice body to show off (*sigh* what I would do to get a body like that...) but I really would like her to have more of a "subtle" sexy look rather than her "in your face" sexy look.

Ayu...has no image...since she changes a lot, and should stay that way...

Hikki has a nice haircut...but she always looks a bit plain to me...

Gackt, for the love of *insert diety here*, no more cornrolls.

Keishi 6th January 2006 07:59 AM

Mika: back to her awesome CG style....I may the only one who dislike Glamorous Sky...
Koda: well, she's fit in...being sexy already her style (makes me think what will happen if she pass the audition for MoMuSu)
Ayu: umm....back to I am... era...rock don't fit with her voice
Utada: hmmm....I believe she doesn't have problem with her image
Namie: umm...can't judge...since i'm not a big fan of her...but she's not fit with ballad....(with exception of ALL FOR YOU)

Thank you for saying that. ^-^

As for me...

Kumi Koda - The sexy look doesn't really bother me, but it gets a little boring sometimes.

Namie Amuro - I loved her releases last year, but she should probably release another song like "Please Smile Again" or "Say the word." And I want more jeans and less of the short skirts. :P

Crystal Kay - More ballad singles, please. (Still <3s "Kiss" and "Motherland")

Nami Tamaki - For once, I'd really like to hear a good ballad. And to not cover a song for her next single.

Ai Otsuka - Should stay the same. Good balance of "cutesy" and mature songs. No more short hair like in the "NEKO ni Fuusen" video though, it was cute, but the long hair has become a sort of trademark (like Kaori Iida's, which she chopped off around mid last year).

pinkuxgum 6th January 2006 02:56 PM

Mika shouldnt change her looks.. but her music should be rockier.. she has the voice suitable for rock.. [but she should also keep to her pop songs]

Ai Otsuka, perfect as she is.. i love both her ''mature'' songs and her ''cutsey'' songs..

Utada Hikaru, i love her style, her songs are great.. although she should do more english songs! [and a fair share of japanese]

Koda Kumi, i love her, i love her music and her style, keep the sexy look.. ^^

Maybe he took the idea from HYDE.. well, at least HYDE looks good in 'em.. and he didn't cornroll the entire hair he has :)

JesA 6th January 2006 11:54 PM

like yu, tomiko8, im not bashing, but heres what i think of the artists' images

Hikki- *sigh* she needs more stuff, and less dull. shes too sad in her videos and she needs more upbeat stuff. c'mon Hikki show us that pretty smile.:)

Kumi- omg....sorry for her fans, but i really think shes being too hot. Shake It was scary *the girl on girl part* and the "you can do it put yur back into it" part was total too much....please Kumi show people the wondeful person yu are and not Avex's hotty. ATTACK THEM *lol*

Namie- i used to really love her until Want Me Want Me. now that was totally way too much. her new stuff is really good, even though Violet Sauce sounded a little sexyish to me, and the "anotha flavor" thing sounded stupid. shes not a street pimp....

Mika Nakashima- now im starting to like her, but something i noticed in her songs, was that they were all jazzy or sad/slow/ish. she needs a little more exctiement in her songs. maybe a little pop or techno or maybe rock here and there. its like making a pizza. her songs were a cheese pizza, but the pop songs are sausage, the techno is pepporoni, and the rock is beef. adding those would make one good pizza. mmmm i want pizza now. *gomen for all the pepople i made hungry just now*

Princess_Of_Roses 7th January 2006 12:10 AM

I dont think anyone should change their style. They are making a living being who they want to be. So if they change now they probably wont be as famous. ^___^ People love seeing them as they are. I would be upset if Ai Otsuka became uncute, Kumi became unsexy or Ayumi becoming un unique...so they need to stay like they are.

Vinylfantasy 7th January 2006 12:16 AM

I would pay big bucks just to see Yoji Biomehanika in a suit and tie, without his drag queen makeup, dreads, and eyelashes. Once. Just once. Hopefully reality as we know it doesn't collapse on itself, I'm not sure the world can handle a cleaned up Yoji.

andre2907 7th January 2006 06:39 AM

The problem is not what Koda Kumi wear, is that she goes too far with her sexy image.

I mean, first I didn't care. But now I realized she goes to far to sell albums! I love her, but she's like "So everybody tune in in Kouhaku this year because I'll be withou a bra. Yay!". Or "If I sell over a million copies I'll be a mama-san for a day, because that was always my dream", that's a profession with a very bad rep in Japan and most people think this is the same as being a prostitute.

She don't have only sexy image, she goes much far. I mean, Beyonce had a sexy image but she had limits. Koda Kumi doesn't.

And, no, I'm not a Koda Kumi hater, I love her Best album and I respect her achievements, but since A BEST and all the media hype of her billboard with her without a bra, AVEX/her seems to be trying to sell more and more with this.

But Mika did do rock, songs like Fed Up and most notably, her GLAMOROUS SKY single. In fact, think she's doing another rock single for NANA 2. She does have upbeat songs if you listen to certain tracks from her albums.
Personally, I think her voice is more apt for ballads.

MsMiyabi 7th January 2006 08:41 PM

Ai Otsuka - Please grow up I mean your 23 and you still sound like your 5.
Mika Nakashima - I would love to see More NANA image in Mika.
BoA - Less Ballads
Ayumi - Lately is seems like she is confused and is trying to do so much. I want Ayumi to be herself and stick with the kinds of music she loves to make

Brittany 7th January 2006 10:25 PM

:laugh
The reason why some artists look 'cutesy' is because in Japan, cuteness is attractive to them.
That's part of the reason why Ai Otsuka 'sounds' 5 :laugh

Well, we're talking about images here, not voices.. :laugh

I see Mika doing rock for NANA2.. I agree with one person that her voice is more suited for ballads. I LOVED Glamorous Sky, but the rock genre isn't really for her. There are just certain people that can pull it off.

Raleigh 7th January 2006 10:28 PM

^Yep that's true. Her cute style is what attracts people to her.

Oh me?
Anyways, I really don't think Ku needs any change in her image. Sure, some people are complaining about how her image is too "provacative." Just give it a few more years, some other artists will start to "emulate" her sexy image. I give props to her for being daring.

Ryoko 8th January 2006 02:40 AM

All the things that everyone wants changed is the artist's style.

Although I would want some people to change, I have no control over that matter, so....

But I really want Namie to wear less short skirts. She looks so skinny most of the time...

But people are forgetting Most of Kumi's fans are female.

Ryoko 8th January 2006 04:22 PM

I think it's nice that females can look up to Kumi and say "I wanna be like her." Even the sex aspect of her career, and her not showing too much clothes as other people think, I think that inspires people. I'm not surprised that most of Kumi's fans are female anyway. When I first say the PVs in the secret album DVD, I thought "I wanna look like that." It inspired me to go work out.

So I don't think artists should have to change their image, a.k.a. their style.

Did you know if Ai wasn't a singer she was going to be a preschool or kindergarten teacher?

A lot of people who haven't heard all of her songs complain about her being too cutesy. Lets see how many non-cutesy songs she has, LOVE PUNCH:6/11, LOVE JAM:5/11, LOVE COOK:7/12, so with her albums, she's only 44% cutesy. :rolleyes

With singles (B-sides included), she's cute about 43% of the time. So overall, she's only about 43.5% cutesy. I don't think have cute songs is a bad thing. She's extremely talented, and a voice is a voice. Look at Ayumi's, it hasn't changed in 8 years, I don't think Ai's will.

I don't think u know I have the Love Cook and Love Jam album on my computer :rolleyes I guess you didn't know that. And my comments still stand about her needing to grow up after listening to two album. 44% or not I still think the image should go.

I'm not trying to start an argument, but...

43% is a pretty big percentage. And I know plenty of Kindergarten or preschool teachers that can act their age and still are good teachers. And yes, I'm one of those people who think Ai's acting too young for her own good. And I have all of Ai's albums.

Ayumi's voice hadn't changed in 8 years? seriously, compare Poker Face to Boys and Girls to Season to M to Pride. Actually, just compare the three versions of A song for XX and you'll see.

HvnSntGurl 8th January 2006 07:38 PM

I have to agree Ai does need to grow up a little. Her image is very Avril Lavigneish. Some of her songs are really nice. I just wish her image wasn't so immature. When I first saw and heard of Ai I swore she had to be like 14 I was suprised she was older then me.

Ryoko 8th January 2006 10:31 PM

I've seen voice actresses for anime that sound like children (Hayashibara Megumi, for example, Mitsuishi Kotono who did Usagi's voice in Sailor Moon) who are adults but can sound like kids, I don't think Ai sounds like a kid at all. It's nice to have at least ONE artist who's cutesy.

Avril Lavigneish XD

Brittany 8th January 2006 11:27 PM

Actually, Ayumi's voice has changed a lot over the years. When she started with Pokerface, her voice.. well, was really high like Ai's. Now, Ayu's voice is really matured. I guess it goes as one ages or something.

My Korean friend and I were at the computer lab on Friday of last week and instead of researching for our class project, her and I were both on yahoo Korea looking at images of popular actresses.

My goodness, they look SO young and NOT their age :eek

It's shocking :laugh

Anyways, back on topic :D

For some reason I think Asians tend to age more gracefully. Maybe it's just the people around me...

Like how people repeatedly thinks that my mom is my older sister or something. o_O
