The Official T.M. Revolution Thread!

2 Attachment(s)
Since there seemed to be quite a few people who liked TMR, I thought I'd start an official thread. T.M. Revolution (along with Ayu of course) is my most favorite singer! ^_^ I love all of his music and he has an incredible voice! Here is a little background I got from his official website. It's kinda outdated, but it'll give you a good idea of his accomplishments in the past years I edited some of the outdated stuff in brackets:

:: BIOGRAPHY::
In May 1996 T.M.Revolution made his debut with the single "DOKUSAI (dictatorship)-monopolize-". T.M. Revolution, short for Takanori Makes Revolution, is artist Takanori Nishikawa's solo project. "HEART OF SWORD -Yoakemae (before dawn)-", his third single released in November 1996 became the theme song for the television anime "Rurouni Kenshin," and he gained a strong following among both anime and music fans. In the following years, T.M.Revolution's success spread throughout Asia and to the West, as they discovered "Rurouni Kenshin."

Following his big break in July 1997, with his fifth hit single "HIGH PRESSURE", his third album "triple joker", released in Jan. 1998 sold a record of 2,000,000 copies. His popularity extended beyond Japan and into Asia, where he also released his albums. The artist was welcomed by throngs of frenzied fans and media when he visited Taiwan in April 1998 to promote the album. After a succession of smash hits, his fourth album "The Force" was released in March 1999. Shortly after the release, a massive two-day concert in Tokyo Dome attracted more than 100,000 people. With his catchy music and lyrics, a lively performance that both fans and the artist himself enjoyed, and a whirlpool of excitement, the concert was a huge success.

[In 2002] T.M.Revolution released "B*E*S*T", a compilation of the artist's work over the [previous] six years.

One of his recent hit singles "INVOKE" is the theme song for the latest installment in the hit Gundam anime series. Mitsuo Fukuda, director of "Mobilesuit Gundam SEED" asked T.M.Revolution after being inspired by another of the artist's songs, "Thunderbird." In March 2003, T.M.Revolution included "Invoke" and "Thunderbird" in the album "coordinate" as part of his homage to "Mobilesuit Gundam SEED." With this album, T.M.Revolution hopes to bring courage and hope to the unsteady society of today, both through his music and performances.

In addition to his music, T.M.Revolution continues to charm his fans with his sense of humor and wit as a DJ of his own radio show, which he has hosted since his debut as a recording artist, now heading to its eighth year.

In August 2003 T.M.Revolution [performed] in Baltimore, Maryland at Otakon, a Japanese anime convention. [Shortly after, Tofu Records released his album "coordinate" and his DVD "T.M.R. LIVE REVOLUTION '02 B*E*S*T SUMMER CRUSH 2002" in the United States].

I know, I messed up!! :doh *blushes with embarassment*

My computer doesn't like me today. LOL :ywink

greggerz189 5th February 2006 06:46 AM

^ Don't worry--I've done stuff like that before, though not quite to this extent, I must say. LOL I send you much love! ^__^

DDR ninja 5th February 2006 06:51 AM

Thanks greggerz :rolleyes

Whoa, What THE HECK!?? The first one DID go through! At least now when I look at it... but before it wasn't there! AAAaaaagh!! I didn't need to make a second or a third one!!! :thud I need help :weep

Thanks Akurei. I'll try doing that :)

-EDIT- Wait, now the first thread's not working anymore. Okay, so I didn't make a third thread in vain ^_^ But I'm so confused!! @.@

-2nd EDIT- Oh I figured it out! I thought I made 3 threads but apparantly I made 4!! ???? How did that happen??? :yconfused

DDR ninja 6th February 2006 12:46 AM

Okay, I know I'm double posting but what the heck. It's all fixed now, the extra threads have been deleted. Although I realize now that if I had just clicked edit on the first thread I could have just redone the post that didn't go through :rolleyes oh well. At least I know I'm loved :D

Please ignore all the above posts about posting problems and feel free to comment on T.M. Revolution, since that was really the original purpose of this thread ;)

So what are your favorite T.M. Revolution songs?

cleftjuston 6th February 2006 10:40 AM

Great songs! :D I like the remix for heart of sword on his remix album, discordanza. That's the first TMR song I heard on Rurouni Kenshin ^^ mugen no koukou? I can't quite think of what song that is off the top of my head. What album is it from? It might be one of those songs in kanji that I can't read >.<

Miraih Noah, I see you have lots of favorites :D I do too. All his Gundam songs are awesome XD and Albireo and Tide Moon River are definitely in my top fav list ^_^ Tide Moon River is such a short song but it's so emotional, I love it!

I also like Burnin' X-mas, WHITE BREATH, hear, aoi hekireki, and many more ^^

cucumber 7th February 2006 01:16 PM

i wanna have a look of his recent photobooks, anyone got the books?

^ yeah you're right ^_^ I just looked it up. No wonder I haven't heard it, I don't have the single >.< I want to get it someday though, it has a really nice cover (that's why it's in my siggy! XD)

Yeah, I wanna see them too! My cousin said she got a photobook for me, but she lives far away so I won't be getting it for a while. If I ever find anything though, I'll post it here ^^

Here's a link to a website that has previews for TMR's newest album, Under:Cover!!! :D It's all in Japanese, but if you keep scrolling you'll eventually find them.

http://www.sonymusic.co.jp/Music/Arc...on/m_info.html

Under:Cover is a special album to celebrate TMR's 10th anniversary! It's been 10 years since his debut with Dokusai -monopolize- ^_^ Yay for TMR!! There aren't any new songs on this album, it's kinda like a best album but the songs are all remixed. Apparently these songs were voted for by fans, and I also heard that it's the first album where he has collaborated with other artists (like Younha is in "Aqualovers" and Heartsdales is in "Hot Limit," although I've never heard of these artists...). There's a limited edition version of Under:Cover that comes with with some sort of bonus CD and a poster. I don't have it myself yet, but it's definitely something I want to get :D Does anyone know why he cross-dressed? lol ^_^

greggerz189 12th February 2006 12:09 AM

^LMAO

Kenji_87 11th April 2006 02:29 AM

Yes! Someone made a T.M. Revolution thread! He's one of my most fav singers of all time. Nice to see there are other TMR fans in this forum ;)

Fav song? Hard to choose... I'd say Thunderbird, Hot Limit, and Zips are some of the best :P

^I was wondering when he'd finally get along to doing that... So what was Under Cover?

Azmaria 11th April 2006 09:07 PM

I thought that Under Cover was already a best of, it wasnt it one???

Halla 11th April 2006 11:15 PM

Like DDR Ninja posted earlier , Under:Cover was more like a remix album rather than a 'best of'. it had a collection of his songs re-made into more rockish/acoustic versions rather than his usual "techno-rock" sound.

I'm not a overall that big of fan of his , but I like a few songs by him. My fave is 'LOVE SAVER'

greggerz189 12th April 2006 08:11 PM

Hmm....interesting. I wonder how the single-collection will sell?

DDR ninja 15th April 2006 07:34 AM

Whoa! The thread has been revived! :bshake

Thanks for posting that Akurei ^_^ I didn't know about that. Hmmm... I wonder why he did that? I'm not sure if it will sell well... I know Under Cover wasn't exactly a best album but I think most of the songs voted on there were singles so there'll probably be mostly the same songs on the singles collection too. And I don't think he came out with that many singles since his last best album either so...ah well. We'll just have to see what happens in June :P

Glad the thread's been revived because I've got something to say^^ I'm super haaaapy right now because I just recieved my copy of Under Cover! :D Let me just describe it in a few short words: IT's AWESOME!! :vbhappy I love it. Lots. It's bascially a lot of his best songs all jazzed up and better sounding. Can't stop listening to it lol :love

LacusClyne 17th April 2006 03:15 AM

lucky you. i can't find the album any where in my country.... and my sis wants it badly...

DDR ninja 17th April 2006 05:15 AM

^ aaaw, I'm sorry :( I would upload it for you but unfortunately I can't because I don't have an mp3 converter and also my computer's gone haywire (I'm using my dad's computer just for the internet). I'm sure your sister would love it. Maybe you could order it online?

Aya Ariki 17th April 2006 11:38 AM

I like vestige.

And we are using Zips for our perfomance.

nah, my sis is too broke, plus shipping, that's gonna be a lot. dad will kill her.

Aisha_Angel 6th June 2006 10:07 PM

I love TMR...he's like my shining star!!! LOL, but hey, does anybody know what record label he's on???

At first I thought he was on Sony Japan because of the songs he did with Gundam SEED...I figured that since all the other artists who did songs for it were on Sony I thought he was too. But then I saw him performing on an a+nation 2005 commercial...which is exclusively avex trax/rhythm zone right??? So confused...lol

If it turns out that he is on avex perhaps an m-flo loves T.M.R song could be made...LOL, even if he wasn't though he could still do it if he REALLY wanted to.

*imagines TMR & VERBAL on the same videoset together...* OMG, that's too much hotness on one television screen for me...lol

mtora83 6th June 2006 11:06 PM

Has anybody seen the J-Drama, Beautiful Life. He played as Satoru, the best hair-stylist.

I think that he is on Sony Japan... he's a special guest star at a-nation.

Aisha_Angel 8th June 2006 03:26 AM

Oh, thanx! I thought so too but I just wasn't too sure. Lol

"Beautiful Life" can that be ordered on DVD or something (prob. not...& if so prob. without english subs)? I wouldn't mind seeing that.

mtora83 8th June 2006 04:48 PM

I have it. It's really, really good...and sad.

DDR ninja 15th June 2006 06:37 AM

Ahhh, I've heard of that drama but I've never seen it (I want to though!). Yeah, I heard he's a hairstylist and he rivals Kimura Takuya from SMAP. Sounds awesome ^^ But he's also doing a new drama this Fall. It's called "Nursing Etoile" and it's gonna be part of NHK. I hope it comes over here!

Takanori just released a new singles collection album on June 7 called "100000000" (interesting title lol :P) and it hit number one on the Oricon charts. This makes 3 number ones since the Ignited single and 4 albums that made it on oricon. It's amazing, usually after 10 years artists begin to fade but he's doing better and better.

According to today's chart it went down slightly because of Hikki's new album but it's still up there! Go TM, Go!! XD

mtora83 16th June 2006 12:57 AM

I love the Billion album. Most of the songs that I like are in this album.

Shuji's from SMAP?! I didn't know that.

DerrickRocks 16th June 2006 06:11 AM

i have a tmr album seventh heaven the us version from tofu records and i am in love with it and i downloaded 1000000 billion and undercover i am buying both but i want that song meteor so bad i love that song

Yup. The handsome one from SMAP :) He cracks me up with his Jack Sparrow costume. All the SMAP members are such comedians.

Meteor is an awesome song ;) The instrumental version in the Undercover albun is really good too (I was just listening to it this morning :P ) Have you seen the PV?

I have that same seventh heaven album from tofu records and I absolutely love it! Albireo and Arterial Fear are the two best songs on that album in my opinion. And ya just gotta love Takanori's artistic fashion sense lol :D

chocobo 23rd June 2006 12:33 PM

ive seen the beautiful life but aware hes satoru now i know :laugh

i dl the coordinate way back and loved it...but i didnt know if the songs on the cd is like cutting even the song is not yet finished can anyone confirmed this?

DDR ninja 22nd July 2006 12:06 AM

^What songs are cutting off? Do you want me to post a list of the songs on coordinate?

LacusClyne 24th July 2006 03:04 PM

Why is it that TM's album are always more expensive then other artists???? i was thinking of ordering one for my sis, but i'm too broke...

Celaphorce 24th July 2006 10:13 PM

^I'll upload Under Cover when I can, I love Thunder Bird, and Zips.

LacusClyne 27th July 2006 05:47 AM

how many albums had he got so far??? i think i had downloaded a billion for my sister. but, i'm not sure about the others...She's a bigger fan of TMR & Nami Tamaki.

水銀燈 Suigintou 27th July 2006 02:39 PM

U did d/l that...n i have UNDERCOVER...But i don't have the rest...

DDR ninja 27th July 2006 08:48 PM

omg, you guys have Under:Cover? Can someone please upload it, pretty please? ^^ Lacus and I have been searching for that but we can never find anywhere to download it. I actually already purchased the album but I would like to dln it too (I don't have an mp3 converter) because I have this strange desire to squish Under:Cover and the Vestige single into one CD (Vestige is a wonderful single but it bugs me that it's only two tracks long).

I know, the Seventh Heaven Concert DVD looks good. I saw that at the store and was like, ooh I want it... but it's so expensive and there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of songs on there. But still, it looks good. Albireo is one of my favorites.

Jeffycue: Under:Cover was indeed a remix of some of the best of his previous songs. But Billion is a singles collection, so all the songs on there should be the original version (I haven't actually listened to it yet but I can check for you). Everything on the discography list I posted above is original with the exception of Under:Cover and Discordanza, which is a techno remix of some of his singles.

Some of his older singles may have remixes too... not too sure since I don't own much of his early works.

jeffycue 17th August 2006 01:50 AM

^^ ahhh, coolness... i have coordinate, progess and billion on my queue.. so i'll be getting them soon.. thanks for the info!!

am looking forward with the billion album now. :)

actually when you rip cds, you can rip it using windows media player, you can choose it in mp3 format. that is what i do....or you can burn the songs that you had already ripped onto a CD-RW, then rip into your computer again.

Really? You can convert tracks from CDs into mp3s just by using windows media player? What is a CD-RW exactly?

jeffycue 18th August 2006 03:58 AM

CR-RW = you can rewrite and rewrite until the cd cant be over written anymore.. its like a floppy disk only bigger.. hehehe

just go to 'tools' and click 'option', it should prompt you a settings, then go to 'rip music', choose 'mp3' under the rip settings' format'. you can choose the quality you want too...i always take the 256 or 320mb.

DDR ninja 18th August 2006 07:00 PM

^Waaah! That's cool! I never knew that! I learned something new today :D Thank you! I'll have to try that. I wonder if my windows media player can do that since its the free version? It can't play avi files, so I don't know if it may be able to convert files too... I'd have to try it.

Yeah, its all released byTofu Records. A lot of artists who tend to be more closesly associated with America (at least, I think it's an American record company) release a few of their albums through Tofu, like HYDE, Nana Kitade, Asian Kung Fu Generation, or Puffy. TM's only released three albums through Tofu, as Lacus says and one DVD that I know of: Summer Crush. Which is nice since that way the region code's set so you can watch it on an American DVD player.

Oh, I was referring to what Lacus said about using CD-RW's to convert to mp3s.

Thanks for the info. I've had some bad experiences with codecs in the past but I'll see what I can do :)

LacusClyne 7th September 2006 04:58 AM

actually, i don't mean converting....that is only for those songs that you had already rip into your computer and you don't have the original cds. it's only for you to burn those songs to a disc, then put the songs back to your computer. why i say CD-RW, it's that you can delet the songs after ripping them. that's all.

or, you can rerip those songs.
you can just change the ripping setting from 'tools', then 'options', you should see a 'rip music' there, just change the format and the mbs you want. that's all.

DDR ninja 11th September 2006 11:16 AM

Oh okay, sorry for the confusion ^^; Just to make sure, what exactly do you mean by "rip?"

Keishi 11th September 2006 12:04 PM

Is cross-dressing his style?
I like his music (HOT LIMIT, WHITE BREATH...) but I cannot stand watching his PV. :laugh
Sorry, if I offended anyone.

jeffycue 11th September 2006 02:19 PM

^^ RIP is where you take tracks from ordinary CD to make them into mp3s =)

^^ BURNing is the opposite, but you can make them to Audio CDs or Data CDs...

Lol... now lets get back to TMR!!!! =)

i haven't seen any of his PVs.. and i believe ive seen only one pic of him for the first time... a month ago... lol

i never knew that TMR was just one person. i thought it was a j-rock band.

Oh no, he doesn't always cross-dress. Most of that was for his "UNDER:COVER" album....

DDR ninja 12th September 2006 05:18 AM

^haha, yes he rarely cross dresses, it was only one time for Under:Cover. And none offense taken ChrisKay, I'm not too fond of the PVs for Hot Limit or White Breath myself :rolleyes Well, actually HOT LIMIt was kinda funny, that one's not too bad but White Breath... could've been better. That's why I say that the TMR nowadays is much more improved since years ago. Now I like all of his PVs/fashions =)

lol sorry, I guess I got off topic :) Most people think that T.M. Revolution is a band when they first hear of him, because it's a bit unusual for a single singer to give themselves a name different from their own. Although T.M. Revolution does contain his name: "Takanori Makes Revolution"

Never seen any of his PVs? Hmm... maybe I can change that. What's a good one? Web of Night was my first PV and I loved it. You can watch it here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIK7DozUKzE

Or perhaps you can try his latest single Vestige, one of the best PVs he's made so far (least in my opinion):

LacusClyne 12th September 2006 06:25 AM

well, i used to thought it's a band too. till my sister corrected me...

becuse of the name, it's very easy to be missunderstood

jeffycue 12th September 2006 11:46 AM

am gonna watch it on thurs!! i hope i wont get freaked out... hehehe...

i believe most people knew the name TM Revolution because of the Ruroni Kenshin exposure... hehehe. i had like Heart of Sword for more than 6years (i think) and just recently got an album from him two months ago... hehehe

Keishi 12th September 2006 04:36 PM

Yea, I'm SOOOOO surprised with UNDER:COVER album. I'm glad that you guys said that it stopped after that album.

His songs are great if he stopped doing all those cross-dress thing.

in my case, i know him from Gundam SEED. other then singing the theme song, he's also the voice actor of a character too. and in Gundam SEED Destiny, he's also the seiyu of Haine, but Haine died within 2 episodes.

jeffycue 15th September 2006 12:51 AM

really? i haven't seen gundam seed... am kinda not into it.. hehehe.. but i liked the time when heero duo and the gang are the casts.. dunno what kind of gundam was that though... but am more of just a picture fan.. haven't seen any ep of that...

TMR was a seiyu? cool...

LacusClyne 15th September 2006 06:59 AM

^he did that for Gundam only because he's a fan. but all his characeters died within 2 episodes anyway...

here's the picture of the Heine he did in Gundam SEED Destiny

Heero and Duo were in Gundam Wing. ;)

Besides playing Heine in Gundam SEED Destiny, Takanori also played Miguel in Gundam SEED.

DDR ninja 15th September 2006 11:32 PM

Oh, I love Gundam! Takanori has done a lot of Gundam songs and they're all really good.

So that's who Heine is? I've watched Gundam Wing but I'm not too familiar with Gundam Seed or Destiny because I've never had the chance to watch them. But I've seen parts of Gundam SEED. Miguel is which character?

LacusClyne 16th September 2006 03:22 AM

^Miguel is the one who went along with Athrun to steal the MS, but got killed by Kira in the 2nd episode.

while Heine appear around 20+ episode.

jeffycue 16th September 2006 11:30 AM

which comes after? wing or seed?

Mirai Noah 16th September 2006 09:29 PM

^ Wing and SEED aren't actally related. They exist in different Gundam universes, so to say.

LacusClyne 17th September 2006 03:45 AM

just like mirai noah had said...wing and SEED had nothing do to with each other, so just watch whatever you prefer.

all i know it's gundam SEED comes before Gundam SEED Destiny.

anyway, we're getting too out of topic..from TMR to gundam anime???

Mirai Noah 17th September 2006 06:12 PM

Well, Takanori likes Gundam. :P But yeah, you're right, we are getting off topic.

jeffycue 18th September 2006 01:15 AM

hahaha! am sorry for indulging to gundam... anyway, back to TMR! :)

DDR ninja 18th September 2006 08:00 AM

Oh, I didn't know Wing and Seed weren't related?

Yeah, haha, sorry, off topic again.... :P

So... random TMR updates:

~Kagawa, July 14-- While removing his guitar strap from his shoulder after a performance, he accidentally smacked himself in the head with his guitar. Owch. Clumsy, clumsy...

~He recently performed at A-nation. Although he isn't under Avex (he's under Sony) he came as a special guest.

~Soon after A-nation he performed at Budokan in Tokyo, which is supposed to be quite a big place (it holds about 10,000 people or so) and is quite an accomplishment so, yay TMR :)

~Abington Boys School (aka a.b.s.) is soon to come with their first debut on October 3. The song is for an anime called "D.Gray-man" (never heard of it >.>)

Also, Takanori's birthday is coming up in two days,... or maybe tomorrow according to Japanese time? Yeah, sometime soon.

LacusClyne 18th September 2006 08:23 AM

no wonder i felt something was werird with the artist list on a-nation..it's TMR!!!

LacusClyne 19th September 2006 03:42 AM

i remember reading about the songlist somewhere...i think he dd a mdeley too....

DDR ninja 28th September 2006 11:10 AM

Yeah he sang a bunch of songs... High Pressure, Hot Limit, Vestige, Silver and Gold Dance (a remix of a TRF song, he participated in that 10th anniversary thing for TRF. Haven't heard that song yet though, anyone heard it?), Ignited, and Zips, and at the end of Zips I believe he did some sort of impromptu rap.

I've only heard him rap in Arterial Fear. That was interesting to hear coming from him :)

Chandrachan 8th December 2006 12:35 PM
