Song Covers...that you like/love

okay, I really like the Another Brick in the Wall by Korn, it adds the metal taste to it and it makes it seem more emotional. I also like the cover of Break on Through by STP, it adds a grunge feel to it. you know?

Ziyte 21st February 2006 05:17 AM

Amy Lee did a cover of a Nirvana song that I really liked. I can't recall the name though.

"Heart Shaped Box" I think.

And Alicia Keys' cover of the Gladys Knight song (I can't remember the name of that either ^^;;; )

ImpactBreaker 21st February 2006 06:38 AM

-BONNIE PINK's cover of Aimme Mann "That's Just What You Are", it's as much as cool as the original version.

-Shiina Ringo's cover of Cindy Lauper's Unconditional Love
-Crystal Kay's cover of Cindy Lauper's Time After Time
-The "dream" covers of many avex artists including globe, DAI and ayumi
-ayum hamasaki covers of Yumi Matsutoya's "Shotsugyo Shashin", trf's "teens", SWEETBOX' "In The Corner"
-Hitomi Shimatani's Papiyon -papillon-, cover of Janet Jackson's "Doesn't really Matter", by far much better than the original
-Hitomi Yaida's cover of "fast car". I like the original better but it's just because it has a lot of nostalgic meaning to me, because Hitomi did a pretty excellent job and the lyrics were even converted to japanese.
-BONNIE PINK's and Tommy february 6's "I'm in the mood for dancing" are both good.

Corybobory 21st February 2006 06:43 AM

The Stereophonics did a really good version of the Beatles' song "Don't Let me Down". I think that's my favourite cover.

ayumi hamasaki - 卒業写真

Shiina Ringo - Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You (c. Bob Crewe, Bob Gaudio)
Tokyo Jihen - The Lady Is A Tramp (c. Lorenz Hart, Richard Rodgers)
Beck - Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometimes (The Korgis)
Iron & Wine - Such Great Heights (The Postal Service)

sora-kara 21st February 2006 05:50 PM

This country group (I think they're called 'Luther Right and the Wrongs') or something like that....well, they covered the entire 'The Wall' album by Pink Floyd, and it's just freakin' fantasic.

__i_n_o_c_h_i_i__ 21st February 2006 09:51 PM

Utada Hikaru's cover of U2's ''With or Without you'' << least I think thats what the song is called..

chibi_sunny 21st February 2006 10:52 PM

Edit: Thanx ImpactBreaker; i misunderstood the thread title.

i like Hitomi Shimatani's Papillon, which i thought was better than Janet's "Doesn't Really Matter". The lyrics are beautiful.

ImpactBreaker 21st February 2006 11:00 PM

Oh totally forgot hitomi's cover of CUNE's SAMURAI DRIVE, that one rocks.

This thread is about artists covering songs that already existed by other artists, not "cd covers"

Larisa-chan 21st February 2006 11:56 PM

Anna Tsuchiya's cover of Somebody Help Me is even better than the original o.o (Forgot who sang it, but apparently was the theme song of this show Tru Calling or something)

That was such a great cover, she did a good job singing for that, she sounded semi-husky and stuff in it.

ImpactBreaker 22nd February 2006 05:45 AM

Sowelu's MOON ON THE WATER, cover of Beat Crusaders is one of my favorite covers. i was unsure whether it was a cover or not but seems like it indeed is.
I think her english pronounciation is pretty good on this, specially since the original version is sang by a male japnese guy and it sounds kinda weird.

LacusClyne 22nd February 2006 06:02 AM

Cyndi Wang's cover of Ai Otsuka's 桃ノ花ビラ
ayu's cover of 卒業写真

Ballerina_xXX 22nd February 2006 06:24 AM

Psycho le Cemu's cover of Kome Kome Club song Roman Hikou!!!!!!!!!!!!!<3<3<3

voltron 22nd February 2006 08:10 AM

Basically all of Mariah Carey's covers (she traditionally does one an album, except on her most recent...and I don't like I'll Be There--her version or the Jackson 5 version). I especially like her cover of Def Leppard's "Bringin' On The Heartbreak"--and apparently they did too. They wrote very highly of it in their greatest hits liner notes...they said something to the note of "It's about time. It took 20 years, but finally somebody did a cover of one of our songs write. Mariah's cover is fabulous."

HanabiChick 22nd February 2006 05:10 PM

I liked MJ's version of Come Together, I hate the Beatles, but I just liked that version. I also liked some covers of ABBA by... I think it was Erasure, in the early 90s - those were fun, I enjoyed those.

Same here. Nothing against the original, but damn, Sam Beam makes it just magical.

sexysaucestar 23rd February 2006 08:53 PM

Cyria 23rd February 2006 09:30 PM

IT is a cover? Never knew that. Oh well even though I never heard the original I bet I can assume with no doubts that her version was zillion times much better than the original LOL

The original was by Dolly Parton. To me Dollys version sounds like a sheep dying at the side of a farmhouse.

Mad_Cactuar 25th February 2006 03:46 PM

Natasha Bedingfield's version of The Scientist is the one and only cover I actually listen to obsessively. Its awesome. Since last week I've been playing it like 4 times a day..

Kikaru 27th February 2006 06:08 AM

Ayu's cover of Sotsugyou sashin.
Hitomi Shimatani's Papillion
Whitney Huston's And I will always love you
Cyndi Wang's Momo no Hanabira
Ayu's cover on Teens
