Dir En Grey is negotiating to tour with Korn

Quote:

The ecstatic response has put Dir En Grey in the enviable position of a likely support spot on 33 dates of Korn's summer tour, according to Bob Chiappardi, co-president of Warcon Enterprises (Dir En Grey's American label/distributor), as well as another source close to the band.

The tour deal has yet to be announced. "We're in negotiations about them performing on tour with Korn this summer," says Peter Katsis of the Firm, one of Korn's day-to-day managers. "We saw a performance at the Wiltern and were blown away."

Pretty cool - I'm not a fan of either band, but it'd be awesome if DeG could support a big band like Korn.

walking proud 18th April 2006 04:43 PM

I think this is great for direngrey even though it is with a band I don't like.

ohsixthirty 18th April 2006 05:48 PM

wow, this makes me want to get into dir en grey more. i'll pass on korn though. still, thats amazing! thanks for posting the info.

Coelacanth 18th April 2006 06:04 PM

Oh man, my friend is absolutely obsessed with Korn. And she likes Dir en grey too, she is going to be so ecstatic.

Neo Daydream 18th April 2006 06:08 PM

Princess_Of_Roses 18th April 2006 06:11 PM

Sweer 18th April 2006 06:14 PM

thats pretty cool, supporting some major label band like KoRn
I would love to see that

paper_doll 18th April 2006 10:06 PM

Yay Dir, nay Korn. 33 dates sounds nice- a lot better than before, which means I could most likely make a show this time.

mi|kshake 18th April 2006 10:51 PM

I've never heard any of DeG's stuff, but that's excellent! Good for them!

mi|kshake~

paper_doll 19th April 2006 12:57 PM

There's more about it at MTV.com.

Sweer 19th April 2006 01:26 PM

^hhehe cool ^^

Slight 19th April 2006 09:57 PM

Awesome. I only like a few of KoRn songs, but I'd go just for Dir en Grey. Now just to convince my Mom. -blinks-

Hazuki 22nd April 2006 02:07 AM

I'd love to go to a Dir en Grey concert.. I just don't like Korn. -_-

Super Ichiban 22nd April 2006 06:01 AM

I went to the Dir en Grey show in LA and is was a really fun show.

On the Korn tour, they will probably be the first band to play and so they will play during the daytime and I don't know how good that will be. There will be a lot of bands playing so they will probably play for 30 minutes and that will be it. Since tickets are only $10, it might be worth it, even if you only want to see one or two bands.

A huge article on Dir en Grey and this possible tour @ Billboard.com

As previously reported, Korn and The Deftones are heading up the ressurected Family Values Tour, started and headlined by Korn eight years ago. This year's tour is said to have a second stage for the first time, with acts yet to be announced. The main stage will be rounded out by Stone Sour, Flyleaf and Dir En Grey, who Davis described as "this crazy Japanese band that are just out of their minds." Lawn tickets will be $9.99 at each stop.

Sounds like its pretty much confirmed.

emi♡ 26th April 2006 01:28 AM

cool, really good for Dir, im actually really happy, i think that this is only the beginning for Japanese music in america.

paper_doll 26th April 2006 03:08 AM

It looks like it'll run into their tour in Japan though. They have a show in Japan on July 31 and the US tour starts July 27.

sexysaucestar 27th April 2006 08:45 AM

I think I'd like to go to one of the US shows..it'd be interesting at least.

Random...today while I was taking my Japanese test I was thinking about this DeG/KoRn thing o_O;;;;

Dreamland 29th April 2006 04:32 AM

its hard for me to get happy when you cant and probably never will be able to see them.....

sexysaucestar 29th April 2006 02:15 PM

^ Why's that? :(

SunshineSlayer 30th April 2006 06:22 AM

This is pretty cool. Especially since such a complimentary and open minded article was written for Billboard. I don't know much Dir en Grey stuff, but any acknowledgement that J-Rock or Pop get here in the US is a good thing.

but all is not lost cause I like reading peoples story from their experiences with the band but I sure would like to see them before they are old-n-grey

sexysaucestar 5th May 2006 05:20 AM

^ Aw, I see. Well, I hope you will be able to go see them one day, too. :yes Good luck!!

alterna 5th May 2006 05:44 AM

I don't really like Korn, but I hope Diru will tour here! I'd like to see them!

sexysaucestar 5th May 2006 06:18 AM

I just remembered right now; I think my friend, her boyfriend, and I are going to try to hit up one of the DeG/KoRn shows...well, she said we'll only stay for DeG, haha.
